Rye Delicatessen in Rother

Everything was perfect. Ready to collect on time, packed and help to the car. All our guests said how delicious the food was and the huge pavlova looked fabulous! All so yummy and just what we needed for a sunny garden party.

I happened upon this place by chance and was glad of it. An Aladdin’s cave of food goodness and could have gone mad with what was on offer. Definitely recommend for picnic stuff, an array of bakes and more. Friendly staff hope to find time to go back. Good value for money after struggling to find somewhere to eat that would take me and my dog along side reasonably and imaginative vegetarian fare!! Oh and a smile would have helped too….

With a group of friends we enjoyed our annual picnic together. Yet again, Rye Deli has proven that they provide high quality and very tasty food. We had a selection that included home made scotch eggs, pork pies, quiches, coronation chicken, salads and a few interesting cheeses. It was all delicious and was lovely to try a few new things. I would recommend this to anyone.

We ordered location catering for a shoot we were doing locally and the team at Rye Deli were really helpful. And our food was fantastic. Perfect for shoot catering and so fresh.

This is a wonderful labyrinth crammed with an astonishing range of delicacies. The variety of ingredients and gastronomic treats is dizzying and the smell intoxicating. But the lovely staff were really helpful so we found the things we were looking for and some others we weren't looking for! One could spend hours browsing these shelves. We only visited the shop not the restaurant.

Unfortunately we didn't find this place until leaving from our short stay. I found rye quite limited in vegan options but this place has lots. We had a couple of salad boxes that were lovely, really fresh, healthy and lots of flavour.

We had several frozen home cooked meals and each time were blown away by the flavour and value for money. Really friendly and great selection of produce.

We had a hamper from Rye Deli for a picnic with friends. It was as excellent as it has been before (this was not our first experience of their wares). It was all fresh - from the crisp Greek salad to the coronation chicken and hand made scotch eggs. I would strongly recommend it.

We visited Rye today for the first time, whilst staying on Dungeness As vegans the options were limited and the cafes full to bursting so opted for the picnic option We had heard of Rye deli so gave it a whirl and the food we purchased was delicious - vegan samosas, harissa potatoes, lentil salad and Pearl cous cous salad Good selection of cold drinks from the fridge including juice and kombucha The only constructive criticism is to suggest including a vegan option on the lunchtime deli box deal as it would be easily done replacing the quiche with a vegan samosa but when I asked for this I was told this was ‘not allowed’ and whilst apologising I was given no reason why it wasn’t allowed when I said that the samosa was cheaper than the quiche so seemed like a reasonable request to me? Minor point but worth making as would drum up more trade for the deli and more high quality options for vegans All in all a lovely place and if I lived locally I’d be here every week

Stopped by yesterday and managed to grab the last two baguettes and some home-made cake for our walk around Rye Harbour Nature Reserve. Good choice of fresh ingredients for the baguettes. We were served by great staff, who were friendly, personable and happy even in their somewhat oversized anti-covid gloves. Excellent shop in a busy town. Well done guys, you deserve to stay busy

Rye is very lucky to have such a range of interesting, independent shops. Fabulous selection of foods on offer here and spotted some unusual items you don't see anywhere else.

Great selection of ready made baked goods all from scratch, a delicious olive bar, amazing display of local cheeses, crackers, etc. Wine selection was small, but good! They also will make sandwiches for you from scratch. Perfect spot for picking up snack items for a picnic or a night in. Staff was so sweet! will definitely be back.

We stayed in Rye last weekend and had a lovely shop at this wonderful Deli. Purchased some great products for a lunch I am having this weekend. The selection was amazing. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Fantastic selection of all sorts of things you did not realise you needed, and staff on hand to guide you through the products on offer. Could have spent a fortune in here but did come away with some interesting goodies for Christmas.

Rye deli is one of the first places we visit on our trips to Rye. The range of stuff is very good and the produce is excellent. Even though I live in Haringey near the Asian food area (the Brick Lane equivalent), I always make a beeline for these. This week the stollen was excellent and hope to buy more tomorrow!

We were visiting the beautiful town of Rye and my companions and I (group of 5) became hungry but we didn't want a full meal. We came across the Rye Deli and just by looking in the window, we knew this was the place to have a quick bite to eat.We ordered: lunch box special (quiche and salad,), 2 pastrami baguette, cheddar cheese baguette and a cornish and beef pasty. All were very good. Very tasty and fresh.Staff were very friendly. Only complaint would be that they didn't have Coronation chicken nor roast beef available eventhough it was on the chalk board menu.Good value

Amazing Deli, Have a great arrangement of food, gifts and the service is outstanding. A very good range of cheese's etc

Having frequented Rye Deli before, I arranged for them to cater for a birthday party at the weekend. Dezi sent one of her team to look after us and prepared a wonderful spread, the standout canape being the coronation chicken, which I have had from there before.

We needed food for a weekend away with a group of hungry (and thirsty) friends. All the food was planned by and catered for by Rye Deli, and as others have said, it really was exceptional. There is nothing ordinary about the potato salads, coronation chicken, cheeses, pastries, meats and pies. It was all lovely, and I would not hesitate in returning to them for more of the same. The suggested menus were much appreciated. They all worked out very well, and took away the need for complicated group discussions.

Dezi catered for a short film which we were shooting down the road in Guestling. I got in touch with her at the last minute and by some miracle she agreed to squeeze us in to her busy schedule, so impressive considering she had multiple catering jobs on at the same time. Her words were "well I couldn't let you go hungry could I!". She is a truly wonderful woman and everyone at the deli is very friendly and welcoming, I felt right at home when I went in. Not to mention to food is DELICIOUS! My film crew couldn't stop talking about it, I was so chuffed I had found the best caterer in the area. A quote from one of the cast - "This lasagne is better than both my mum's and my nan's put together." Enough said. I can't wait to come back to Rye and visit the deli again.

The deli did the catering for our wedding in October. The staff were incredible in helping us to choose what we wanted, able to give great advice about which salads might be too garlicky(!), and helping us organise all the logistical parts of it.

I remembered using the deli many times on a previous visit but that store seems to have been changed into a fudge and sticky stuff horror - while this store specialises in selling pre-packaged and very expensive silliness.

Rye Deli is full to bursting with all sorts of delicious foods from home made frozen meals to freshly made salads and quiches, tins of biscuits and locally made pickles and jams.

Is to buy a picnic from here and take it to a beach. The salads are so nice I could eat them all the time.

Thoroughly enjoyed a picnic lunch all sourced from the Rye Deli. Everything was hand-made and extremely tasty, including the pork pies, scotch eggs, coronation chicken and salads. It is clear that a lot of thought and care has gone into the dishes. They also have a very good selection of interesting cheeses, and I would certainly recommend giving this place a try.

Revisited the Rye Delicatessen after having been provided with a first class picnic from them for the same event last year. Standards have not slipped! Once again I was supplied with a perfect selection of food ideally suited for an outdoor Summer picnic. Thank you Rye Delicatessen.

Wow, such friendly people, nothing was too much trouble, the salad bar is fantastic, flavoursome and very reasonable in price, would I recommend, most defiantly!

I am local and often buy my lunch from Rye Deli, however, I am a little bit fed up of buying the salad lunch box for £4.95 and £5.95, when the staff do not fill them up and are cutting smaller and smaller slices of quiche. These boxes are not value for money and so my loyalty as a customer is under review.

We love this deli, great olives, warm , straight out of the oven quiche. Lots of vegetarian options, cool drinks. And plenty of local cheeses .

So many things to choose from here, we had quiche with a selection of salads, really good, so came back for more the next day.

Rye Deli was kind enough to prepare a delicious, home cooked chilli con carne and accompaniments for our group of 15 people headed to Camber Sands for a weekend holiday. Dezi was a pleasure to deal with throughout, held the store open for us to collect on a Friday night, and the food was tasty and wholesome. Friends also visited during the weekend and were very impressed with the selection of goodies! A must visit in Rye.

Rye deli is absolutely fantastic ! the customer service is always warm friendly and helpful. I only popped in for a bite to eat, then I was forever returning on a daily basis. Whenever i'm on holiday or just visiting the first thing I do is pop in for my snacks and cakes. The baguettes are to die for, and the artisan eccles cakes are the best I have ever had.I try to avoid the cheese counter as I always end up overspending !

picked up a variety of deli bites for an evening munch up and snacks over the course of our stay. Everything was very tasty, all tasted homemade and reasonably priced. The staff were a delight too. Highly recommend the pork pies, quiches, samosas and The Isle of Mull cheese if you like a strong cheese with a kick. Also sold various craft ales/ciders and wines, just wonderful, thank you.

Nothing says a tourist visit like local produce and we managed to get some biscuits for friends whilst visiting Rye here.

We stopped here the day after arrival to stock up on provisions for a week. We found fabulous meats, cheeses, olives, crackers, and homemade salads. The staff is cheerful and helpful. Will definitely be back.

We love browsing the wide selection of food in Rye delicatessen and sampling the more unusual things on offer. A real bonus to Rye and a must visit if you are in Rye.

We just had a homemade lasagne from Rye Delcatessan. In fact, the aftertaste still lingers ... unformtunately. Yes, lured by the ridiculously high prices (£10 for a lasagne) and the promise of quality, we sampled their forzen wares only to be left out in the cold (sorry for that one).

Whenever we visit Rye we make sure we always visit the Deli! We are from Surrey and always try and stock up every time we go. We have never been disappointed. The food is amazing and the staff are all lovely. The lady that runs it is always so friendly and Rita too. I can't imagine Rye without it. There is so much to choose from we can never decide what to get. They also have a cheese counter now which is a bonus! All the food is freshly made and you can definitely taste the difference! Even our grandparents from Spain are huge fans and make sure we pick up loads of food for them too! If you're visiting Rye you absolutely MUST go!!

There is a huge selection of delicious foods etc. at the Deli. Would have given it a score of five, but it is a bit expensive.

In recent weeks I have twice attended outdoor functions where the hosts had cleverly provided picnic hampers supplied by the Rye Deli. On each occasion the hampers had contained ample quantities of delicious salads, quiches, scotch eggs, pork pies and cold meats, all conveniently supplied with the necessary plates and serving utensils. The food was excellent and perfectly chosen for a Summer party. After each event the guests left impressed by the host's catering abilities, whilst the hosts were left with minimal clearing up to do!

If you like to browse in a gourmet shop with nice staff then go and discover this delicatessen gem ... Fresh food, cans, delicatessen from all over europe ... Go and enjoy it

As a group taking the train back to Calais, we ordered a picnic to eat on the bus after having visited Rye. Everything was packed in individual bags : a small bottle of water, a delicious piece of quiche with salad, some sweet biscuits, chips, cutlery ... it was perfect! And all this for a very reasonable price. We can only recommend Rye Deli and for tourists it might be a good address for a take away meal.

Whenever we come to Rye and the weather is decent, we grab a picnic from here. The salads are fresh, really interesting and delicious. The pastry on the quiches, sausage rolls and pork pies is perfect and melts in your mouth. The pork meat in the sausage rolls and pork pieces is some of the best we've tasted - beautifully flavoured with herbs and top quality pork. The sweet baked goods are always tasty, although sometimes a bit try (date slice, bread pudding). We would recommend highly for anyone who fancies some picnic-style food.

Pricy for some items but you will find things not found elsewhere. Always but mustards and pickles! Always visit every time we go to Rye. A must!

While visiting Rye, found this lovely delicatessen on one of the little side roads and popped in for a look... it was great, a nice selection of foody items and the cakes and baked goods were amazing. Staff are very helpful and polite!! Will definitely be back to buy some more goodies soon!!

This is place is nice where you can buy different kinds of delis like chocolate, vinegar, oil, and all that. Nice staff. Worth a visit when in Rye.

Fab place for all sorts of goodies - we bought chocolates, wine, olives and cheese but there was so much to choose from - and lovely staff too.

Such a variety of wonderful foods to buy and a delightful atmosphere that we could have spent hours here ... and spent worthwhile money! I loved it.

Because we are having work done at home & cooking was a bit of a 'challenge' I decided to pick up some broccoli & stilton soups, BBQ baked beans & a beautiful stilton & chorizo Macaroni cheese – seriously warming and tasty, the family loved it as did our painter/decorater and landscape gardener – all tastes including vegetarian were catered for & we had a positive feast for what I consider excellent value, it turned a miserable cold day into a fun one and we really appreciate having the Rye Deli on our doorstep!!

This deli is great if you want posh nosh and posh prices! Great if you are a vegan or vegetarian as they can cater for this. They sell smashing cheeses. I try not to go in here due to the fact it is so expensive.

On October 15th we held a joint birthday party with 80 guests in our village hall. The Rye Deli catering was outstanding. The mixture of meats, salads etc was excellent, coupled with first class service - nothing was too much trouble. We certainly made the right choice of caterer. Definately 5 star.

Really lovely food in here. Pretty expensive chocolates, so not your everyday stuff, but as gifts or special treats it's so good! Lovely staff too.

Popped in here for a look around today. Lovely place. Lots of unusual foods to buy for Christmas presents etc. An absolutely huge variety of foods, cheeses, pates, biscuits, chocolates etc. It all looked fresh and I would return to shop here if in the area.

Lovely little individual quiches, wonderful triple choc biscuit cake. Hubby loves the Eccles cakes and Sicilian pastries. Highly recommend!

Great deli, favorites of mine are the quiches, and the Portuguese tarts, the almond cakes. Great selection of cheeses and ham, usually fresh bread, rolls etc. Many unusual boxes and tins of speciality chocs and sweets. Tea and coffee. You will never be short of a present in here. Easy wheelchair access by the way.

Went in, went up to the cheese counter and had a good long look, decided on buying a few and looked up and still no one had come to serve me.

On a day trip to Rye, This Deli do homemade frozen ready meals just pop in oven Lovely dinner with no effort. Also do lovely looking pastries, savouries great for a picnic Lunch. Prices quite good for the quality.

Tucked just off the High Street this little shop is packed full of tasty treats. A great selection of olives and cheeses, tarts cakes and pastries, gorgeous flavoured oils and vinegars, cordials and so much more! A great place to buy unusual spices and flavourings and also good for presents. We probably spent too much! However, the dulce de leche we ate for breakfast the next morning prompted a discussion about going back to do some more shopping on our next visit to Rye (we can always find a reason to visit beautiful Rye!)

So many delicious things to eat and drink, you can spend quite a while browsing and then want to buy everything! Good selection of baked goodies, sweet and savoury; well kept cheese; coffees, tea, sweeties and chox,, ice cream and small foodie gifts. It also smells Heaven!

Could not fault anything that we got from here. The tiny Sicilian pastries were very sweet but I suppose that's why they're so tiny.

We used the Rye deli catering service to feed our hungry team on a photoshoot in near by Dungeness. The food was fantastic, really tasty and perfect for a wintery day. We had a great selection and there was something for everyone from vegetarian chilli, meat chilli, soups, sandwiches and an array of delicious cakes. Would use again in a heart beat. Excellent!

The Wolseley Battenberg cake for many, is beyond compare, that is until now. The cake made at the Rye Deli is simply sublime. Light sponge, just the right amount of Apricot jam and marzipan perfection, makes this Battenberg a hands down winner.

A good variety of food in specialist ranges . disappointed at the lunch box for the cost and choice. Worth a look in to see if they have what you want but be willing to pay the extra.

We first started going to the Rye Deli for their wonderful takeaways--three cold salads and a slice of quiche for a fiver--but since they've around the corner and had room to expand, we've come to depend on Dezi and her crew for so much more--unusual herbs, spices and oils, sweet treats from Italy, Mexico and the Levant, excellent olives and cheeses, lovely bread... A great place to shop for everything you need to make a meal special!

Been here before and it never disappoints. Popped in yesterday to see if there was anything I fancied and bought some Christmas presents which I did not intend to do at all. The nougat looks amazing!!

In a place like Rye, I'd expect a deli to be top notch. While there were many tasty treats on offer here, it wasn't quite as jam packed with quality produce as I would have liked. The deli counter was excellent, the ambient produce a little lacking. Layout was also confusing.

Visited Rye on a day trip with my mum and rather than buy things people do not want we like to buy the family local cheese bought from places we visit. This delicatessen had a good bakery section and some lovely local cheese which the family all enjoyed. We were not retuning home for several days or I would have liked to have bought more of their lovely fresh goods, did buy a pork pie which was very tasty.

I am writing this review because I just read the title of one of the comments saying that the coffee was revolting. I had coffee there three times and everytime the coffee was really good. You can tell them how you like your coffee and they will do it for you.

Really enjoyed my quiche and '3 salad' lunch box last week. Felt very nourishing and was reasonably priced. Tip: ask to have quiche microwaved, as was a shame to have it cold on a cold autumn day.

We came across the Deli purely by chance and after looking around the shop we thought the produce on sale looked very tempting indeed. We had two quiches (Gorgonzola & Mushroom and Goats Cheese & Caramelized Onion), both were delicious. We were also tempted into a Date Slice and a Treacle Tart ,again we can only say both were delicious. The staff were helpful and friendly. Unfortunately we did not live close Rye, but we can only say, that we wish we had a Deli as good as this one in town where we live. When we looked at Tripadvisor, we were very surprised at some of the comments made as the quality of the produce we had was excellent

Of all the coffee shops in Rye, we happened to pick Rye Deli for a quick takeaway latte. What a mistake. I can quite honestly say that it has to be the worst coffee I've ever had. The lethargic waitress clearly has no clue about coffee nor does she care. Up your game, Rye Deli. There's too much competition for you to be complacent. I certainly won't return.

The lunch box offer of a slice of quiche and three salads is extremely good value. The quiche was tasty and the salads were crisp not bogged down with mayo. Bought a tub of mixed olives to go with the lunchbox. Expected to have some left over but no, we guzzled the lot! Also bought three smoked garlic heads. These have been banned to the garage until ready to cook with them. They certainly have a powerful smell. A heavy beef stew should work beautifully with them. A lovely deli.

It is one of the best places to buy a picnic in Rye.... The food is excellent ,and the service is second to none!!! Definitely a place to visit.

We bought quiche, pork pies and blue cheese. Quiche was two thirds soggy pastry, pork pie OK but more like mince meat pie and cheese wrapped in clingfilm rather than waxed paper.

If you want good quality food then look no further than this fantastic shop. The cheese counter is a delight, packed with local produce and I would heartily recommend trying out some of the homemade cakes. A special mention must go to the pork pies - delicious! Staff are very friendly and offer good advice if you are having trouble choosing from the array of meats, pies, cheeses etc - which you will!

Popped into deli on our last day. the very helpful assistants made us some lovely sandwiches. we also bought some cheese they had such a great choice

The Rye Deli provided the catering for our son's Christening party and we were very impressed. Great sandwiches, delicious quiches, sausage rolls and salads, and incredible mini sausages - we can't fault the food at all. Dezi who we dealt with was friendly and efficient, adapting the menu to our requirements and the cost was very reasonable. We would definitely use the Rye Deli again.

Liked this place for lunchtime lights meals and coffee. A good variety of food. Mainly it's takeaway but we sat outside at their makeshift tables and enjoyed watching the world of Rye go by. Very enjoyable indeed!

Too enticing. Diet went on the back burner more than once thanks to this shop. Crisp, fresh bread and rich cheeses made for luxuriant picnic meals to remember.

Oh my I could spend all day in this gorgeous deli and equally spend a fortune. Its not cheap but for a little alfresco dining treat at home this is my favourite place to go. All washed down with a little bit of sunshine and a good chilled Chablis. My perfect summers eve

Absolutely fabulous new deli and probably the best I've ever been to. Cannot wait to go back on my next visit to Rye. Impossible to understand the comments of the last review. The shop has a great selection and lovely friendly helpful staff.
