Had the pleasure of visting The Tower Bank Arms for dinner. We arrived for pre dinner drinks in the bar where the daily handwritten 'Specials Board' listed 2 starters & 2 mains in addition to the main a la carte menu. A stand out on the specials main was the 'Shin of Beef' braised accompanied with herb mashed potato and seasonal veg for a very reasonable £20.95. Mind made up on that one!
Our pre booked table for dinner was in the dining room with the bar area also set out for dinner lit by candlelight.
The main was exceptional - honestly delicious with marbled fat which contained all the flavour. What a start to proceedings!
For dessert I opted for Sticky Toffee Pudding (my own and Grandson's favourite) which hand on heart at age 55 I can say was the best I have ever had. A moist sponge swimming in a river of lovely sauce accompanied with a cinder toffee ice cream. Unbelievable, so much so I popped in the next afternoon for a pint and complimented the Manager for such a lovely dinner.
4 real ales on tap (3 Hawkshead & 1 Barngates) - log fire warming the room on a cozy cool spring afternoon & evening.
Service spot on. Locals friendly.
Would I recommend? Absolutely.
Will I be going back? Absolutely.
Thanks to the team at The Tower Bank for a great experience.

Stayed for 6 nights as part of a coach group. Room was large, spotless and very comfortable with a lovely view. Each member of staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Food was very good with huge portions. The pool is a great plus point, and it's only a short walk to the seafront. The evening entertainment was very good. Our whole group had a fantastic holiday and we send our thanks to Kim and all the staff for a wonderful week. We would definitely use this hotel again.
We had a nice lunch out today at Gods Providence House.. polite and friendly service.very clean and tasty food the wait wasn't long after we ordered.we will be back.
Excellent tea and cakes. Tea was full of flavour - both the English and the Earl Grey. The Bakewell Tart was superb - one of the best I’ve tasted. Very pleasant service and dogs welcome. The building is C17th and has real character.
People were very friendly and bar area dining area was warm and bright. Probably at its best in summer as huge glass windows give out onto mountain backdrop. Draught beer included an ale from Brotherswater which was excellent. Food was good without being exceptional. You need to book. Works in sittings but there was ample time given.
Absolutely shocking (pardon the pun). Went in here with my partner after a party and ordered a drink each before heading to a wall opposite the bar to drink and chat (you can see the wall in question in the attached photo). As we were chatting we went to lean against the wall and were hit with an electric shock. Accidentally I then touched the wall again and was promptly hit with another pretty painful electric shock. I looked at the wall in question and it was clearly damp and appeared that touching any part of the wall around the light switch would electrocute you. Obviously not wanting anyone else to experience this I informed a member of the bar staff and we were told that they were aware of the issue and that was it. If you’re aware of the issue why are not blocking off that wall immediately and making sure no one goes near it?! Irritated by his lack of response we then informed a bouncer who gave another nonchalant response and said they were also aware of it but nothing they could do currently. Absolute rubbish. Block the wall of so no one gets zapped!!! Disgusting attitude by the staff who clearly don’t care about the clientele. I wonder how long this wall has been in this state and I fear for the next person who brushes against it.
As someone who live to the rear of this bar I and many others have complained about the excessive noise, anti social behaviour, drunks flowing into the rear car park as if it part of the bar's property . They also use the car to park their vehicles as if their own yard without paying for a ticket. The children's slide and climbing area (if approved) is monitored from a distance! With all the anti social behaviour around this area the owners do nothing to help improve it; especially the noise polution this bar and it's clientele create! The "new. Management " promotion is a joke! Just the same anti social crowd! No respect for any neighbour even after the recent "noise complaint" raised with the council! Close the place as it should not have rear access / facilities within a residential area! Gives Ventnor a bad image!
I have been for lunch and also dinner, the food is delicious and homemade, have to try the soup it’s made by the owner who makes the best I have ever had
Wonderful atmosphere and the service equally fantastic as the food
