Stayed for 6 nights as part of a coach group. Room was large, spotless and very comfortable with a lovely view. Each member of staff was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Food was very good with huge portions. The pool is a great plus point, and it's only a short walk to the seafront. The evening entertainment was very good. Our whole group had a fantastic holiday and we send our thanks to Kim and all the staff for a wonderful week. We would definitely use this hotel again.

Hi, I’m writing this as a guest who stayed at The Channel View Hotel with my family on Saturday the 19th April — I’m the teenage daughter in a family of five who booked two rooms for one night. I really feel the need to share how disappointing and stressful our experience was. My dad booked the rooms the day before, on Friday the 18th, and he clearly told the staff (specifically a woman named Emma) that we were a family of five — two parents, me, my little brother (under 11), and my youngest sibling (under 7). Emma said two rooms would be fine and that the youngest would stay with our parents. But when we got the confirmation email, it only mentioned four people. My dad called back right away, and Emma told him not to worry, that it was just a mistake in the email and our booking was definitely for five people. We trusted her and went ahead with our trip. After a super early start, a long journey from West London, and a ferry ride, we finally got to the hotel — only to be told that we had to pay for a third room for my brother. Even after explaining everything and pointing out that Emma had confirmed it with us on the phone, the manager didn’t care. What made it worse was that Emma herself later showed up and confirmed in front of the manager that my dad had booked for five people. And even after that, they still made us pay for the extra room with no apology or attempt to fix things. As a teenager, I don’t usually write complaints, but this whole thing made me really upset. Our family trusted the staff, followed all the instructions, and still got blamed and charged for something that wasn’t our fault. It felt like we were being punished for their mistake. To anyone thinking about staying here — I’d think twice. The staff don’t communicate properly, mistakes aren’t taken seriously, and in the end, it’s the guests who are left to deal with the mess. Coming all the way from London, just to be stressed was not a good idea. Definitely not the kind of experience I’d expect from a hotel.

All the staff were lovely and very helpful especially the manager Kim who went the extra mile to help us celebrate 🍾 my farther in laws 80th birthday by decorating his room and around the table for the evening meal. After a difficult year for all four of us due to some health issues they all really made it a great break. 👍

First of all I would like to say never come here! The place is tiny very dirty! We stayed there for a few days and there was no room service also creaky floors and I am definitely sure there were bed bugs! Very expensive for rooms that is not worth the money! No hot water and no pressure to the water in the shower! Although I guess some rooms there is a good view but not all rooms Also very rude staff not all staff but definitely the front desk and I am never coming back!😡😡😡 1000/10% Do not recommend!!!

Lovely location overlooking Shanklin beach. 2 minutes walk to the sea, 10 minutes back up, this is hill not for the faint hearted. Great massage treatments and spa sessions. Lovely clean pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Well stocked bar and friendly staff.

Whole hotel is dated. Its a 70’s reto look. But the service and value for money more than makes up for it. The manager and her staff are all amazing. Very polite young servers. Would highly recommend.

Extremely Disappointing Stay with No Hot Water This was my second time staying at this hotel, and unfortunately, it was a major problem. I checked in at 7 pm but was never informed that there was no hot water for showers. When I returned to the hotel around 10 pm after dinner, there was no notice at reception or in my room about the lack of hot water. I discovered this issue only after getting ready for a shower and nake waiting for over 5 minutes without any hot water. My attempts to call reception were failure as no one answered. I went to the reception in person, the female receptionist avoided communication by dropping the blind. NO WILLING TO TAKE HELP TO GUESTS. I spoke to a man who seemed to be a staff member, and appreciated that he directed me to the pool shower, which also had no hot water. The entire hotel was without hot water. I asked if I could check out now, but the man informed me that the manager was not here and I would need to speak with them the next day. The following morning, I asked the receptionist if the hot water issue had been resolved, but the boiler was still not functional. We checked out feeling extremely frustrated and unclean due to the inability to shower. We sent an email to complain about the situation, and the hotel's response was to offer a 10% discount on my next stay, which I found insulting. With such poor service quality, why would there be a next time? Overall, this experience left me very angry and disappointed. I expected better communication, compensation and service from a hotel I had previously enjoyed.

Very nice hotel very dated though, we had a big family room with a great view. To get to the 5th floor the lift only went to the 4th floor so had to go up the stairs to the 5th with the luggage. Very friendly staff, lots of steps up to reception, food was okay.

I don't typically write reviews online, but I'm so dissatisfied that I felt obligated to post one through my grandson's account. I stayed here with my wife recently for a few nights. Carpets were absolutely vile, with great mounds of dog hair (my wife is allergic) all over the hotel, and a complete rainbow of stains, from green to yellow to purple! Particular members of the housekeeping team, I believe her name was Kirsty, used vulgar language and made my wife and I feel very unwelcome! We often heard loud swearing, and clean linen was left on the dirty, hairy floor which I presume was then used on another guest's bed. I'm horrified to think that the bedsheets my wife and I slept in were likely sat on the floor amongst the dog hair before we arrived. My wife and I have no problem with other dogs, and my wife is perfectly fine being in a hotel with dogs, however it's a different story when both our bed linen and carpet have traces of dog hair. Sorry to say we both certainly won't be returning!

Terrible chips, these tasted like they had been microwaved from the day before, old potatoes, dry and odd taste. Couldn't eat them. Expensive at £3.20 for a little portion too, they went on the bin. I also had a veggie beetroot burger which had no taste at all, in a soggy bun. The best bit was the salad in the bun. I feel ripped off and sick. Couldn't return the food or I would have as was on a schedule and had to take away. My partner had cod, he said it was nice and did look like a large decent portion, he wanted his cardboard chips too. Actually feel really annoyed as I was looking forward to this, will never return or recommend. Wish I never ate it.
