unfortunately my order was lacking an item but when I called the restaurant about it they offered me a refund.

Fish, chips and sausage were lovely. Sadly the fish sarnie came with the skin on and plenty of bones throughout it. Took nearly an hour which usually isn’t the case but understandable as there is an event on the seafront.

Would have been 5 stars but an item was missing. Thankfully just eat refunded!

Just awful. Way too long for delivery. Was barely warm. Over cooked sides & horrible chips. Can’t recommend at all!

Delicious food as usual, right on time!

Very disappointed. Order 3 potions of chips and had them wrapped. When we got home to eat them, they were either just cooked or almost uncooked. Didn't feel driving back was worth it. Perhaps staff should concentrate on cooking rather than chatting to friends who walk in. Will not be returning.

First of all the food was very good but it said like 6 20 to 6: 40 and then changed to to 7:20 to 7:40 which was annoying but the food was very good

First time customer (I’m not from the island I came for a short break from Yorkshire) I have to say the food is really good, chips were delicious and I’ve never known a chip shop do battered veg sausage! So I was overly chuffed with that, definitely recommend this place. Hopefully I’ll be back in august! Many thanks

Fish and chips was brilliant and served by a lovely young man who was pleasant and polite and knew what he was doing, first time I have ever been offered lemon with my fish from a chippy and it was great. Thank you 😋

Unfortunately during my visit I had witnessed numerous health and safety issues including negligence of regular hand washing, no PPE, bug zapper being turned off, middle ceiling air duct not clean which looms over where the food is served, the counters were littered with crumbs, bins left right next to the fryer. A shame legislation wise.

We were looking for a spot of fish & Chips upon our visit to the Isle of White, stumbled across this place and it did NOT dissapoint! The food was amazing at a very reasonable price, the customer service was also excellent, the owner was extremely helpful and the girls behind the counter were so helpful nothing was too much. Would most definitely visit again!

I must add that I have never been offered the opportunity to ask for a particular way with which I would like my food prepared. I asked for crispy chips, if possible, and I was delighted with the result, rarely do I finish all my chips when ordering from anywhere but these were delicious.

We got off the train at ryde directly opposite the codfather, walked in, and was served straight away. The food was absolutely amazing with the chips being a particular highlight, another plus was the choice of a battered Mars bar for pudding aswell, the price and quick service were really good aswell, I genuinely couldn't recommend them enough an absolute must if you're in Ryde 👍

Average on food. Cod OK. Batter not so good. Seating area poor and not clean with an overflowing rubbish bin nearby that smelled as though it was also used for food waste.

A really tasty cheeseburger 1/4 pounder and possibly the best chips on the island

Not only was my food late I had to watch the delivery driver put his hands all over my food as it fell out of the bag bearing in mind I have no idea where this persons hands have been i know accidents happen but at least let the customer pick there own food up out of the warmer bag and put back in the box !

Best fish and chip shop in ryde!

Drop by here for a quick meal. I ordered scampy and chips and my bf had the haddock and chips. The cuury sauce were really tasty as well. It was really delicious and very friendly service from the team. Highly recomended if you ever come to Ryde for holiday.

Your fish is nearly always perfect but the chips are not that great at the moment. I am a good customer please change your chips ! Fresh would be fabulous please ! thank you though for great service though!

Fast delivery, tasty and warm food!

£2.80 for about 30 chips (no exaggeration) and they were undercooked, lousy value for money, you get much better for your money elsewhere in Ryde

The lovely delivery person couldn’t find my gate to the front garden. He phoned me and we sorted it, all good, thanks.

Quite possibly the best chip shop on the island and definitely has the best vegetarian selection. I totally recommend their vegetarian burger and vegetarian battered sausage too. Curry sauce is outstanding and my fiancée enjoyed her savaloy. Chips are lovely and not greasy like other chippy's. Staff are friendly too.

Thursday 28th September 2023 16.30. We looked forward to fish and chips on our last night of holiday from The Codfather as we had always enjoyed them from here when we visited the Isle of Wight, Sadly for us it was awful some of the chips weren't cooked and still raw in the centre mushy peas were cold in the middle, fish OK but not what we had come to expect. So disappointed for us and our guests. Will not be returning.

Proper chippy! Everything cooked to order. Decent portion size fish. Not the cheapest on the seafront but definitely the best.

Good banter in the shop prior to ordering, my girlfriend is coeliac, so the offering was limited unfortunately battered sausage or chicken nuggets, she opted for the battered sausage and I had large cod & chips, we sat out side with two cans of cider and enjoyed an hour of eating and watching the world go by.

This was 2 and a half hours late, terrible service and order was wrong

The food took over an hour and a half to arrive, I really think the customer should be made aware that it will take this long BEFORE the order goes through. I phoned up and was given a time and then it was still late. The chips were dry and only lukewarm. I won’t be ordering again. It spoiled our evening.

Over an hour late on delivery. The choice to let me choose ‘60 minutes’ on the how late was it scale wasn’t working but our delivery was around an hour and a half after the predicted time and around 2-2.5 hours after we ordered! We did get a call from the takeaway to say they had to get a relief driver in but it was very late.

Fish was very nice. Chips were a bit dry.

Chips were awful , there was a piece of wood in with them that looked as if had actually been cooked with the chips won’t ever be ordering or recommending here ever again

Home delivery whilst renting a cottage on holiday. At home we always have a large cod each and share a large chips so we ordered the same. Quantity first. The cod were enormous and the box of chips were too much for us to finish. Quality - Excellent - arrived piping hot - straight on to plates for eating. Staff - Lady who took my telephone order was obviously busy but remained cheerful throughout. If we holiday in Ryde again will definitely be using again.

Today we found the hardest working youngsters on the Isle of Wight!🏆 Where? I hear you ask.. well it was at The Codfather in Ryde and they were fabulous! We walked from Appelby to find food and everywhere chose to either close earlier than their websites or just close the kitchens because they felt like it! But not @thecodfather 🥳 Not only were they open, but everyone of them smiled throughout a mega busy shift and even informed their customers that they had a few deliveries to pack first but gave us an exact time when we would be served but we were served within 2 minutes and also our dinner was piping hot 🐟💟🏆Bravo Hannah, Georgia, Harrison and Daisy (08/09/23 7:45pm) and thank you for the best customer service on the island and probably south of England too 🤓💟🐟🏆 #coolkids@thecodfatherryde

The chips were old and tasted refried I couldn’t eat any of them. First time ever this has happened great shame, fish was good chips not

The batter has no taste and the chips are like leather. You would think that they would aim to be the best in a busy seaside town. Very disappointing.

Fantastic chip shop.! The only shop selling real chips, not fries.! Proper seaside fish and chips.! Freshly cooked and very tasty.! They are island famous for a reason.! Don't be fooled, you can't get this quality of food any where else on the seafront. Original and still the best.! !! Why come to the seaside and not have REAL SEASIDE FISH AND CHIPS.? !

A young girl serve me and she was so rude to me, but when I was rude back she didn't like it, and chips and sausage was awful.

Food normally fab but unfortunately tonight the fish and chips were soggy, all the batter fell off fish and glued to chips, salad missing from burger and the order was half hour earlier than requested.

Best chippy in Ryde. Proper potatoes, beautifully cooked, lovely people who make you super comfortable even with toddlers. Loads of vegan options. Inexpensive family treat

The shop was fairly empty. I understand they may have had pre orders but we were the only people in the shop. Waited like 20 minutes for our food and when we got it the chips were very cold. The cheese wasn’t even melted onto the chips and for what it was the food was really overpriced. Very disappointing

Still have not had a refund of 4:50 for 2 black puddings
