Firstly-Lovely service 10/10 We were so we’ll looked after, so relaxed and friendly
Stunning food -we tried 8 dishes and all were amazing and inspiring 10/10
Tried 2 different wines 10/10
Right on the beach watching the surfers, great ambiance, great music.
What’s not to love. We’ll be back soon.
This was our first visit and it will not be our last. A lovely experience.
We booked for dinner in the ‘bar’ with our dog.
On arrival we were warmly greeted by a very professional and attentive young lady and the manager who showed us to a table next to the fire (perfect for the dog to stretch out)
The bar area is extremely comfortable and roomy which meant we didn’t have to worry about our dog encroaching on other diners.
The menu has a good choice of three courses and the food was beautifully presented and of excellent quality with plentiful vegetables and all piping hot.
The wine list has reasonably priced options and the bar is well stocked with gins and whisky’s.
We thoroughly enjoyed the evening an unhurried and very relaxed meal with our dog also being treated by staff, I wasn’t going to give much of my delicious steak away!!
The worst and soggiest calamari fritti I have ever had served, with overlarge salad and no dressing. Large dog carpeted the floor. Italian version of Mrs Overall waited on, in character. Huge rectangular comedy plate dwarfed the already tiny tables. My Italian relatives will not be coming here.
This is set in a nice location overlooking Sandown seafront and peir. The food was good and the service was also good. Parking can be a little tricky but you should find somewhere on the seafront or in the High Street with a little perseverance. We were here for a music night to see our friends son sing however he had to pull out due to illness and a replacement drafted in. We weren't made aware of this change and stumbled across the altered line up by luck on the morning of our visit but, having contacted the restaurant about the change, we decided to still go along anyway for an evening out although others decided to pull out due to the change when we let them know. This is a good music venue and it's always good to see live music im such venues as it seems to be coming a rarity nowadays.
Visited on what was possibly the wettest and windiest New Years Eve ever (maybe not ever, but it was pretty wild!) and we loved the place. Nine of use aged between 6 months and 86 years satnupstairs and we all enjoyed what we had off the menu....although the 6 month old declined the steak pie in favour of her own bottle. I had the Steak and Stilton pie with mash which was very nice. Staff very helpful with directions to "the tree". Would definitely recommend.
This pub is fantastic ! Always welcoming as you walk in - fantastic staff and the food is delicious. We have eaten here several times and their homemade curries are fabulous. The roast dinners on a Sunday are excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate recommending this pub to anyone! Well done to all!!!
My first time trying this place. Just like Chinese and Indian food it’s westernised to cater for the western tastebuds, but I do love their fish cakes and coconut rice.
Popped in here on Mother's Day morning without a booking, and the lady couldn't do enough for us. Managed to squeeze us in , breakfast bagel was lovely. Thank you from the 3 motorbike riders. X
I booked Studio room 1 for a single night. Large bed, 2/3 person sofa and then in the bay window 2 armchairs. Great bathroom with a large bath and a good sized shower cubicle. Sounds large? Yes it was and then there's the balcony with sea views over Ventnor harbour. None of this craning your neck to catch a glimpse of the sea, this was a proper face on sea view.
Great choice of breakfasts at an extra charge.
Helpful and friendly staff. So would I stay there again? Absolutely, 100%.
Stopped in for lunch whilst walking the coastal path. Very friendly service and tasty food. Didn't have a beer but good local ale on the pumps and in bottles.
This my first time visiting this pub having not been to Sandown for many years. I was only planning to have a couple of drinks and move on. However the staff made me feel very welcome as a solo visitor and I ended up staying all afternoon and early evening! It was an afternoon when there was 6 Nations rugby and horse racing on the TV both of which they accommodated.
There was a strong locals vibe throughout the time I was there and it's clear this pub has a key part to play in the local community. I didn't have any food but bookings were being taken for Sunday Lunch so it has a good reputation.
All of the staff I spoke to were warm and friendly and I will defnitely call again the next time I'm in Sandown. The 'local' pub has sadly lost its way in recent times but it's certainly alive and kicking in this corner of Sandown.
Keep it going! And thank you!
