Brilliant Sunday roast as ever. Arguably the best fish and chips in town, amongst many other menu options, all cooked on site. Dedicated restaurant area, separate dog friendly area for diners and a bar area where all can eat and drink also. This place has been called Sandow's hidden gem.... and how right that is.

Popped in here mid afternoon on a Sunday for a bite to eat and a pint with family. On arrival the lady asked if we wanted food and showed us to the downstairs room. This was a lovely dining area and we were close to a cut off time for roast dinner but she managed to squeeze our order in so we didn't leave disappointed. Drinks came quickly and were a very good price. We were shown a duo deal on roast dinners and it was worth every penny. My father and his partner had light bites and they were just as good. Our food came out in good time, was hot and tasted fantastic. We were offered condiments which were brought straight away. All in all a good dining experience with very happy and helpful staff. The duo deal on roast dinners is a fantastic idea and will definitely return again . Toilets were well signed and clean and tidy . Dishes were cleared away after we had eaten and a nice touch of mints when we got our bill. Very good value, clean and tidy with a great atmosphere. What else to ask for. Will definitely return.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by the friendliest barmaid, who made us feel like locals instantly. The atmosphere is quirky and full of charm, with a few regulars that really added character to the place – you’ll leave with a few stories to tell for sure! And then there’s the dog – an absolute sweetheart who made our night even better with its friendly, tail-wagging company. It felt like having dinner with old friends in the coziest setting. But let’s talk about the food – hands down the best we had all week! Every dish was bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and clearly made with love. Whether you’re after a hearty meal or something more adventurous, you won’t be disappointed. We left with full bellies and big smiles, already planning our next visit. An absolute gem!

Having been here several times in the past,as always we were not disappointed. Food excellent, service exceptional. Bar staff are very friendly and very welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble. We will definitely be back.

Good food, mostly gastropub-style British food, with very nice ice cream for dessert, in an interesting and unique setting - the building is, as the name suggests, a former bank and is decorated with collections of old banknotes from around the world. You can sit and have a drink in the former bank manager's office! The owners are very friendly and interesting to chat to. As well as going for a meal one night, we made this our 'local' during our stay in Sandown because we liked the atmosphere so much. The bar serves a very nice IPA as well as the usual soft drinks.

We were staying the week in Bembridge and popping to Sandown for the carnival. We pre-booked our Saturday evening pre-carnival meal. Glad we did, as the pub and the separate restaurant were very busy. Everything about our visit was brilliant. The staff are so friendly and efficient. They were so busy but everything ran like clockwork. As for our food, superb! Really delicious and nice presented. Thank you!

I came here after getting a haircut as it was the closest pub and I have a broken ankle so didn't want to travel far and it's the first time I've been out so was looking forward to just grabbing a pint. Unfortunately it wasn't a good experience. Firstly some random local drunk type wouldn't leave me alone even after I thought it was obvious I didn't want to talk to the old man who smelt. Then randomly another very clearly drunk man came in and I was very surprised he was served and to add to the drama his wife turned up and kicked off at him and apologised for him being there as he'd been drinking all day apparently. But what I found quite offensive and made me uncomfortable was the owner came up to me and said I have an unusual request for you which I thought was weird only for him to then say sorry as he got me mistaken for someone else and I politely replied who I was mixed up with where he then ignored me and found it quite rude and on top of that the owners wife was sat in the corner giving me constant dirty looks the entire time I was there! Awful way to spend an hour and on top of that as I had to use the disabled toilets and I was appalled by the standards in there as the floor was covered in piss next to the toilets and I almost fell over while using my crutches. Really upset me as I was happy to be out of the house for the first time in 6 weeks since breaking my ankle and had to go through this ordeal. Won't be going here ever again. The only good part was the barmaidworking there was lovely so it wasn't all bad. I'm hoping I just happened to turn up on a bad day as usually I imagine it's a nice little pub just unfortunate timing but I found it all a bit too overwhelming and ruined my day. The owner did say goodbye to me on the way out at least which was nice but doesn't make up for the experience.

Food fairly good with a fair selection but nothing special. Not too expensive and of fair quality. Staff very attentive.

As the name suggests this pub was once a bank in Sandown's town centre and it has indeed maintained the feel of a bank even thought it is now a pub. It seemed to be used mostly by local people rather than visitors but we were made very welcome. Indeed, the lady who served us was extremely friendly, efficient and helpful and is a credit to the pub. We had a meal which although was basic fare was reasonably priced, plentiful and very good quality. My beef pie was superb. Our only slight gripe is that there did not appear to be any ales but we made do with lager.

Lovely locals pub with locals prices on the High Street in Sandown. The current owners bought it off HSBC, o can provide some history. The old bank managers office is a private snug with a first come, first occupied arrangement.

Lovely friendly pub that serves excellent food, we come everytime we ate on the island on holiday and it has never disappointed us yet, today I had the best burger I've had for a very long time, my friend had ribs which also looked amazing. Dog friendly, great helpful staff.

Myself and a friend visited this lovely restaurant after seeing all the rave reviews online and it did not disappoint. We called on the day and they were able to offer us a table for the evening. I had a lovely burger, which was huge, and super tasty. But what made the experience for us were the lovely owners of the restaurant. They took the time to talk to us and really make us feel welcome. The lovely owner sue also assured us that their Sunday roast was also amazing so we will no doubt return to try that when next in Sandown!

Had the most amazing fish and chips, a little bit more expensive then some places but well worth every penny. The fish was huge ,white and the batter was light and crispy, lovely fat chips cooked perfectly. I would really recommend this place and we will definitely be coming again.

I visited with my lovely wife at around 7.50 in the evening and they stopped serving at 8..... My lovely wife is coeliac and the menu had so many options for her. Chose the garlic chicken and I had the homemade steak and ale pie. Both were delicious 😋 The barmade was excellent, attentive and knew where the beer came from.... Highly recommend 👌🏻

My wife and I visited for an evening meal and were not disappointed, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and the service was great, the portions were large and the food was fresh and hot. My wife had the peppered chicken and I had the garlic chicken both of which were outstanding. The building is very interesting and has been tastefully restored. Overall a great experience and one I would highly recommend.

Excellent value for money, very tasty food and the staff are extremely welcoming, attentive and friendly. Various seating areas for those with or without dogs. Thoroughly recommend.

It’s a great place. There’s a bar which has a lot of (friendly) locals and a small restaurant off to one side (although you can eat in the bar) The bar/ restaurant staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was well cooked and good value. I had the fish pie special, the only problem being that I had no room for the profiteroles which looked really tempting. Still there’s always next time …. Recommended.

Discovered this restaurant after reading other reviews, rang up to book a table & was delighted when they said yes, they had availability for the same evening. When we arrived it was just us and another table, but it filled up as the evening went on. My husband had the Steak & Ale pie & I had the lasagna. Both meals were delicious & decent portion sizes. We couldn’t resist pudding, my husband had the brownie & I had the bread & butter pudding which was served with an extra jug of custard. Both again were delicious. The staff were lovely & kept checking if we were ok for drinks. Our bill was just under £45 for 2 mains, 2 puddings & 2 drinks which we thought was great for a meal of that quality & quantity. Definitely recommend!

Really pleased with the great variety of food dishes on the menu. The food was outstanding and drink/ food prices were very reasonable and portion sizes very big! Fish and chips was a winner and filo pie for a vegetarian is a must. Very friendly staff who offered great service, will defiantly be returning on my next trip to IOW!

Over visiting parents and came here for Sunday lunch. Absolutely amazing! I’ve never had a Sunday lunch out that has been that good! Very very tasty, plentiful, veg perfectly cooked, amazing Yorkshire puddings and the gravy was perfect! Well worth every penny, I had small beef and for £8 that was fantastic value! Staff very friendly and attentive Will definately return!

Wow, where to start, visited on the Saturday to get out of the rain and found a gem, booked Sunday lunch, the vegetarian roast was the best my husband has ever had, the Yorkshires are one made, the service was so attentive, great locals that shared the islands best kept secrets. We had a very nice sunday lunch last weekend ! The food is lovely and tasty and all the meat and veg is so well cooked by the chef and is plentiful and piping hot. We often have evening meals as well and the food is always great whatever you eat. Kaz and Ruth and all the staff are lovely and friendly and nothing is ever too much trouble. For food value and service, we think its hard to beat.

This was our first time at the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. There was a very welcoming feel to the place and nice surroundings. Sunday lunch is highly recommended and whether you have a small or large appetite, they cater for everyone. Would definitely go back.

We stopped for a drink or two on Christmas day, when hardly anything else was open in the town. The place was very busy, with mostly locals, but we found a table in the area nearer the road and spent a very pleasant hour relaxing there with our dog and chatting to others in the room. Staff were obviously busy, but coped as if they weren't :-) We'll visit again when we are next in the area.

Had amazing food here over the August bank holiday weekend (Saturday night) - can’t compliment the chef and the team enough. We had the belly pork and 2 chicken dishes (hunters and peppered) with potatoe skins to share as a starter. Waitress was very attentive...

I've never eaten so well in the UK - and relatively cheap too! Everything fresh, great meat quality. Lovely staff who ask several times if everything is good / if there is anything else you need/want. Any time!!

Walking into the bar area slightly off-putting as its quite old fashioned and has the feeling of a "locals pub" However the restaurant area has much nicer decor and furniture. Service from the 2 ladies working was fast, friendly and efficient. Food was good quality and large portion sizes and price reasonable.

Found this amazing restaurant in Sandown High Street., having been disappointed by the sharp decline in the area. The food was delicious, the service 1st class and all at a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend a visit & suggest you order the profiteroles as they were the best I've ever tasted.

From the moment we went through the doors the waitress was so attentive and very friendly an amazing setting very clean and warm cosy atmosphere. Quick to take our order too. Food was absolutely delicious I had vegetarian chilli rice side salad 🥗 portion size was spot on very filling. Fish and chips were big ....hanging off the plate!!Chicken in peppercorn sauce was delicious too. No complaints definitely a top place to go to eat in Sandown recommend 100%...Give it a visit you will not be disappointed....

What a find, super little pub, warm friendly staff; restaurant was compact and bijou, food was fabulous! Crispy potato skins with oozing cheese, steak, soft and buttery, garlic chicken - very garlicky but superb, chips were great, crispy outside, fluffy inside! I indulged in a taste but the bread and butter pudding was lovely. Highly recommend this place based on today's fare.
