The Hut in Isle of Wight

A lot of hype around the restaurant, but unfortunately was more style over substance during our visit. Despite a large number of staff working, long wait be offered a drink at the bar (we were one of 3 couples there as arrived at the start of the evening so not busy). Some other guests clearly disappointed with the location of their table in the middle of the walkway of the staff so would recommend asking for a table by the window. The fish was decent but when you charge £38 for the veal milanese without sides, I was expecting more than it delivered. Overall, for the price, would expect more and a slightly disappointing experience.

Lovely place and experience but so overpriced. We payed over £200 for a sharer meal and 2 soft drinks! Also then payed a £20 tip on top of that which should be my choice wether to do so. Think about if you want to blow a few days wages on a meal.

Wonderful spot, perfect views, great enthusiastic staff and excellent food, if a little pricey. This must be the best spot in the Isle of Wight for a special occasion.

We have been to The Hut many times and greatly enjoyed the service, atmosphere and food. However we were very disappointed with our last visit. The service was excellent but the food was not up to standard and the choice was minimal. The bill was expensive and we all felt that the food did not reflect the sizeable amount we spent.

Food was amazing! Super trendy and amazing drinks! Staff were very very kind but if you get cold choose an indoor party of the restraunt when you reserve a table as sometimes the deck with the open roof can get cold. On the downside the music was too LOUD! we asked if they could turn it down but they said as it's that time in the evening on a Saturday they turn it up as that's what their vibe is like then. They said they would keep an eye on the volume. In the end we just went with the flow but overall it was brilliant!

One of best lunches I've/we ever had! Booked for a friends birthday, we received a lovely warm welcome from all the staff, the whole experience, as that is what it is, an amazing experience was simply brilliant! we opted to share pretty much every starter followed by the best surf and turf around and a sharing bass for mains (and oysters). All of the food looked and tasted superb! The numerous cocktails we had were as good as they come, Personally I believe you get what you pay for and the Hut delivered and beyond! We're so lucky to have this place a short boat trip away, thank you team Hut!

Visited a few times this summer with friends and absolutely faultless every time. There really isn't any other place I know of in this country that compares. The staff enjoy what they do and it really shows, the food is outstanding whether its a burger or the lobster and the atmosphere is second to none. Thank you for all your hard work and I can't wait to return next year!

The first visit was disappointing so thought I would try again in the hope of a better experience as good seafood restaurants are few and far between on the Isle of Wight. But nope, this time was probably worse. I can only imagine that the people who can justify the prices here are those arriving in yachts with money to burn! As someone who enjoys seafood with a good idea of average restaurant prices, the food here is ridiculously overpriced and the service is pitiful. £70 for a lobster and £120 - 140 for fish of the day is just idiocy. The other less expensive dishes also overpriced. We came on 23rd October and the two female waitresses were poor. No knowledge of the food we asked about. Not exactly a huge menu to learn about for your job. Also being made to think you are asking stupid questions about the size of food you are paying for is just not on. Suggestion.. train staff up properly to meet basic customer service standards include natural friendliness and being made to feel genuinely welcome as customers. The staff were also overheard by us complaining to each other that we decided not to pay the service charge. Seriously, if you're gonna have a moan about customers do it discreetly, duh! Not that declining a large, undeserved service charge warrants any complaint. It's discretionary guys. Hut, up your game.

We were walking down Colwell Bay Beach and stumbled across this hidden gem. As a family of 5 we initially were just going to have coffee but their menu lured us into having one of the best meals we have ever had. We had lots of sharing starters, the gambas was out of this world. We all had mains, veal, tandoori bream and a couple of burgers. One or two of us even had desert. Drinks wise the kids had mocktails, which they loved and the adults tried a few of their cocktails. The hut Painkiller was incredible . Staff were very accommodating and friendly and service was seamless. Overall this restaurant was an amazing find and we can’t wait to visit again.

This place is by far the best restaurant and dining experience I have ever encountered. From start to finish our experience was fantastic. First off their friendly and conscientious tender team out on the water put your mind at ease when it comes to dropping anchor, they are a great welcoming party! The restaurant and bar staff couldn’t have done more to accommodate us and ensure we had the most magical experience. Catering in a unique way for a vegetarian in our party, along with some outstanding knowledge of food, wine and cocktails. The food on our last few visits has yet again stepped up a notch with some incredible fish options as well as the usual favourites. We have struggled to find a better restaurant on the south coast, or even the uk when it comes to menu choice, ingredients and overall standards. Top that all off with the feeling that you are nestled in the French Riviera or in an exclusive Côte d’Azur anchorage bay. When in fact you are only 30 minutes from Cowes! The views, location and vibe at the Hut continues to make it magical. We can’t wait for our next visit in 2024.

We were celebrating my daughters 21st birthday, and although I am a regular user of the hut our experience, this time surpassed all of our expectations. We ordered one of the large fishes which was for nine of us. 5 visits to The Hut this season and I have to say they nailed it every time!!! Considering how popular this restaurant has now become and the number of covers they must do in a day the quality of food, service and friendliness of the staff still remains exceptional. During the season I have taken friends, family and business contacts to The Hut and it has been great for all occasions. I always liken The Hut when telling people about it too a little piece of Ibiza on the north coast of the Isle of Wight. If you like great seafood, music and alfresco dining when the weather permits then this is the place for you.

A fantastic afternoon with a superb menu and outstanding service. The atmosphere was friendly and vibrant. Looking forward to returning.

As The Hut celebrates 10 years this year, we have the absolute pleasure of being part of that journey! Having dined, drunk and experienced what we feel is one of the best restaurants we’ve been to (and we’ve very lucky to have been to a few special ones). Not only is the whole vibe fun, always evolving and service focused, it also has such a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We try and go every time we’re on the island at and it always creates special memories. These memories are with friends (old and new) and with our family. Our daughter is always made to feel very special when we go and could maybe be a future team member over a summer?!? It’s important to highlight the food…well, it’s awesome. We were lucky enough to be invited for a second time by friends who were just completing their house purchase on the Isle. They certainly rate the hut as their go to place. It is outstanding!
