The Waterfront Bar & Restaurant in Isle of Wight

We stopped by here on a Tuesday lunchtime in March, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and helped us in with our wheelchair too our table .we had the most amazing table by the sea the staff are amazing and very knowledgeable and helpful. The burgers were delicious as was the scampi excellent portion size. The drinks were delicious too.

Only stopped off for a quick drink but was a nice place and staff friendly. A couple of ales to choose from and one local. Would have liked to sit by the window but reserved for dining customers. Also you have to pay for parking on the sea front. I can imagine in the summer periods this would get very busy but was empty in March. I can see the appeal of the location on the sea front and is a beautiful setting. Overall though nice place.

Went for lunch at a quiet time but food was excellent. We were looked after well.

We ate at the Waterfront on a Thursday night (6th March) - you’d think would be quiet, but was busy and had a good atmosphere. We had two different people serving us and both were patient, enthusiastic and (most importantly) great with my 3 year old son. Cannot recommend this place enough - will be back

We visited here whilst visiting family and all I can say is wow. The food was absolutely amazing and the desserts were to die for. Would 100% recommend to everyone we know and will definitely go back.

A fantastic location on the coast, it had great views and a comfortable atmosphere. The food was also good and staff lovely. My only small gripe is the paid parking and toilets are in need of renovation.

Always a consistent warm welcome, great service and a good variety of beer. Fantastic food-a really interesting mixture including all the classic pub style stuff- but the real gem is a variety of Asian-style dishes not to be found on the Island. However the fish and chips is unbeatable.

Very nice meal here tonight with my family. Food was good and they dealt with our allergy requests without a problem. Lovely place, would recommend to anyone.

We had such a lovely time at The Waterfront in Totland! The food was super tasty, everything was fresh and well-cooked. The staff were really friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. But the best part? That incredible sea view! Seriously, you can just sit there for hours enjoying the view and the atmosphere. Perfect spot for a relaxed meal. We’ll definitely be back!

Always get a good meal at The Waterfront, but their Valentine's evening was extra special with a fab menu, very tasty food, great service and a thoughtful box of chos and single red rose added. Top drawer!

I put off writing a review as I thought my experience was a one off issue, however after speaking with others over Xmas about some good (and not so good) places to eat on the island, I found that apparently it wasn’t a one off issue. The waterfront is blessed to have one of the most beautiful locations to dine out at…that’s the last PRO comment. I went to TWF with my husband for a special occasion, we both enjoy fish dishes and being near the sea, so It made sense to go there. We ordered some fish dishes, when the food arrived, the presentation was impressive but the taste was meh. The meals all seemed as if they had been microwaved just before being sent out. Here was the final straw - since the food wasn’t amazing, we left a far bit, we waited over 30mins for a waitress to remove our plates, we asked 2 more times for someone to remove them and were always told “sure let me just do something” then seeing the same waitress cackling away with another waitress in the main room. Got to a point where I waved over to them and asked for the bill. SUDDENLY she was free… I’ve worked as a waitress and understand how busy and stressful it can be running around but the waiters at TWF are rubbish, they don’t care about good service and it shows. The gag was that even as we paid at the table, the plates were still there not being moved. I wanted to try a dessert but that feeling changed after waiting over 30mins. As I mentioned at the beginning, I’ve heard from others how the staff at TWF are shockingly bad, apparently the manager as well (not from my experience but from others) I love the island and can think of many amazing restaurants in the area that are doing a great job at offering beautiful atmosphere, delicious food AND great service. You won’t get all 3 of those at TWF.

Second time we have visited this wonderful Restaurant - both times on Holiday - both days were wet and windy which added to the lovely atmosphere this place has to offer. Sunday Lunch was just lovely - Beef just cooked to perfection and the Veg were just right aswell. Went with our little dog Mollie who was made most welcome - dog treats and water at her pleasure - and cushions!! Would certainly recommend and will return on our next visit to the Island VERY helpful, friendly and attentive staff Excellent value for money aswell!! Thank You - - Sally, Matthew Kaye and Mollie x

Dived into this cafe bar restaurant because of the bad weather on New Years day. It was busy and well staffed. Nice menu. Four of us had the fish and chips lunch special which was excellent. They make a very good capuchino too. Friendly and efficient staff. Pay and display parking out front. Access via narrow road so take care. Over looks the sea and from here you can see the wreck of the crashed speed boat from 3 odd years ago. A must place to eat if visiting the IOW.

Excellent lunch beautifully prepared and presented.

The short version is that, this restaurant was the best restaurant that I visited during my stay at the Isle Of Wight. The long version is that the food was fantastic. From the Fish and Chips, to the Lamb Breast, to the Camembert, everything that we had was incredible. Add into the fact that this restaurant had great service and a wonderful view; for me, this is the best restaurant on the Island. Therefore, if you are a local, or if you are a visiting tourist; this restaurant is highly recommended. Five Stars.

A regular haunt for us now. Food quality versus price is the best in the area, in our opinion. Brilliant fish and chip offering.

We had a really special Xmas meal here earlier this week. As always, the staff were friendly, attentive and personable. Sitting in the restaurant so close to the sea is such a magical place to dine. The Xmas menu was excellent - every component of the traditional turkey main course was delicious - and my fellow diner was very impressed with his beautifully cooked seabass dish. Thank you to the whole team here - we look forward to eating with you again soon!

As you’d expect with a place called ‘The Waterfront Bar & Restaurant’ the location is the USP here. We rolled in just as the sun was going down on this quiet corner of the island, waves gently lapping nearby. Greeted by smiley staff, pint of local bitter (not bad but I’ve had better) and then a seat with a view. The best seats in the house, with the best views, are reserved for dining but c’est la vie. Worth a detour.

Closes early and not flexible on time very disappointed even though you just wanted a cold take away drink

The Waterfront is positioned in an unique setting in Totland Bay. The sunsets are amazing and the sound of the sea splashing against the sea wall is magical. The Waterfront offers a great menu inspired by a talented chef. Coffee, small bites and childrens menu on offer too. Coupled with the setting and attentive friendly staff, it is definitely my ‘to go’ restaurant. It also gives voluntary support to the Island’s Emergency Services. Well done team at The Waterfront!

This place never disappoints . Supper with friends , new autumn menu was perfect. Staff are friendly , place is comfortable and well run . We love it here - lunch or supper ; summer or winter our go to place in West Wight . And the sunsets are an added bonus

The Waterfront is truly a special gem of a place. The staff were just amazing to us , customer service was so good and very attentive, kind and caring . The food was superb , quality was good , with a good variety and choice . I just wish we had room for dessert next time definitely.! I think what tops the Waterfront off is the location , it's stunning, watching the sunset is such a experience you must do . We had a 30th Wedding Anniversary dinner with friends ( surprise for my hubby ) it was truly a special evening and the staff were so accommodating to us . If ever in Totland The Waterfront is an absolute must do .

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and staff are friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. I had the pan fried sea bream with black garlic risotto off the daily specials menu, which was perfect! The gluten free battered cod could have done with an extra minute in the fryer for some more colour and crisp, but was delicious nonetheless, and a very generous portion. Would definitely visit again if we're ever back in the area!

The Waterfront is without doubt my favourite go to place on The Island either for a drink to watch the amazing sunsets in summer or storms in winter as the waves crash over the roof. The bands that appear especially on Sunday in the summer are great fun and the music and entertainment is always first class whether it is Burns Night or Halloween you are guaranteed a great night. As a local we use the waterfront all year Lorna and Adrian along with their friendly attentive staff are a credit to the venue and a warm welcome is always on hand. Finally the food I have been going to The Waterfront for over 25 years more often since we moved to The Island five years ago and I have never had a bad meal. The menu is always changing to reflect the seasons and availability of local produce. The chef and staff go out of their way to provide a first class experience and I have never left the restaurant hungry. My only problem is usually choosing whether to have a Waterfont favourite or something from the daily specials menu. This is a family run business and the owners and staff work very hard all year to offer a fantastic dining experience for all locals and visitors to the beautiful Totland Bay and this is a great opportunity to say thank you and great work all!

The prawns were soggy, the fish indifferent and the baby sweetcorn tasted of soap.

Nice view unfortunately the food today was poor- overcooked lamb, flabby oily prawns and somehow wet fish and chips. Service was ok and friendly and they had made a concerted effort to make families feel welcome. Overall poor food but great view

We just we t in for a brew after walking the sea front and was as always great, eaten here before many times always been excellent.

The food was really great but the location was AMAZING. The staff was so friendly and helpful. They seated us without reservations right by the window where we could watch the sunset. It is honestly a dinner I’ll always remember! Five stars for sure!

How lovely to have not only one, but two gluten and dairy free options WITH protein to choose from! I had the chickpea curry and it was delicious, thank you so much! Oh and the view is great too!

Asked for fresh crab without cream fraîche but as it was already mixed in the crab I had to change to tuna with salad. It was £12 on the menu and the portion I got was tiny. The tuna was no more than my biggest finger. I am not used to complaining but I did this time, and actually went to eat elsewhere.

Went to the Waterfront last night (Sunday),with a family party of eight people.having been to the Waterfront regularly for a drink,this is the first time for a while I've gone fir a meal,I had the Smoked Haddock & Chorizo from the specials and it was lovely,also some guest had the Fish & chips,Salmon and all I can say everyone really enjoyed there meals,we all agreed we would definitely go back agian,I would definitely advise to go and try a meal.

This restaurant is a 'must visit' when on the island. Food, service & atmosphere really are top notch. I personally recommend that you are to try the maple bourbon bbq ribs. These are an absolute delight by anyone's standard. To treat yourselves and the family to probably the best food on the island then The Waterfront is definitely the place to go!

Good service and great food with good proportions. We took our two dogs and were instantly welcome, so many places still don't take dogs.

What a great experience and location. We arrived at peak time on a busy Friday evening - late for our booking - but the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. Service was spot on and food was excellent. Thanks for making our evening a great family occasion.

Took a chance on walking into the restaurant tonight looking at having a meal knowing that it would be busy. Indeed it was fully booked so opted to just have a refreshing drink. Mentioned to the bar staff that we were hoping to have a meal but understood that we hadn’t booked. Have to say the bar staff were very accommodating and managed to find us a table which we fully appreciated. Our meal was superb,but we’ve eaten here before so no surprises there. I just really wanted to give a big shout out to all the staff really,each and everyone of you are a credit to the Waterfront experience. Thanks for looking after us. Paul Mel Durbridge

Great service, very friendly helpful staff, great place to relax

It's always a pleasure to visit here. Good food and really welcoming staff. Also very dog friendly. In a lovely location overlooking the beach. The Waterfront is the perfect location to watch possibly the most spectacular sunsets you'll find anywhere. There is a good and varied menu, backed up with a specials menu. It caters to vegetarians and vegans as well as those liking fish or meat. The bar is well stocked also. There is live music most weekends, especially during the summer. Look out for occasional special events like Burns Night or Valentines Dinners. There is parking available. Wheelchair accessible. There is a good outside area in nice weather. Recommended.

Went in for some cheesy chips only. The chips were excellent although absolutely nuclear hot. The cheese left a bit to be desired however as there wasn't a huge amount on there. They were a bit spenny for the amount you got.

The best meal we had on the island. Absolutely superb and amazing value for money. We shared four starters and they were impeccable. Crushing good crab, terrific tuna poke, beautiful belly pork and all conquering croquettes. Fabulous - and all by the sea.

We stumbled across this fabulous place using Google. What a special place. The staff were welcoming and attentive despite the fact that we hadn’t booked they made room for us in their busy evening service. The views are incredible, the venue delightful and the staff wonderful. The food was fabulous. Thank you all for a great evening. Please note I would suggest you book a table. We parked in the seafront car park which is pay & display.

Looks great and a good location, that’s it, I had the seafood pasta no warning of how hot this would be, the calamari was so tough I was expecting it to fight me, they have very little idea of draft beer, I had a proper job to start well it wasn’t you don’t serve warm beer, the next pint I had was doom bar, this just tasted of vinegar, which when I complained was replaced, to be fair I don’t this place has an idea.

Superb spot right on the waters edge. Beautiful restaurant with magnificent views across to main land England and excellent food 👌 to rival the views. In good weather a very good outside dining area

The restaurant has a great atmosphere. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food is outstanding. The view from the restaurant is beautiful. We booked in to have dinner on the way to the ferry and we're so glad we did. Will definitely revisit.

Terrible decision to eat here, and never ever again. The atmosphere was awful by way of none of the staff had a smile for anyone. The manager snapped at staff members. The burger was absolutely tasteless. The calamari were not fresh from the sea but the freezer. The manager dealt with my complaint appallingly without apology…… just that he would have a word with his butcher in the morning! Everything was at a very poor shocking sub standard level; from the service, the food quality, the atmosphere, to the professionalism of the management team. You are going to have to so much better to compete for repeat business in future with the Hut ( the best restaurant on the island without doubt) just round the corner. Because if anyone does manage to loose their way in finding the Hut, and happen to stumble across The Waterfront by mistake then TURNAROUND!!! The Waterfront is just appalling.

Booked my son’s engagement party there, absolutely amazing experience, staff , service , food quality very good , booked for 27 people and the food came out all within 5 minutes. Great attention to details , we came early to set the decoration up and after they even looked after the presents while we walk along the seafront. Great service from Adrian and his team 👍

super good location with super bad and not fresh sea food. Don’t go this place to eat. The white wine even with no ice. We spent 200+ but none of them are good food. The shrimps are frozen one, the waiter even calculated the money wrong ( 8 more). Super bad experience

Great restaurant, the food is so good that in my opinion the restaurant should be included in the Michelin guide… and the location is right on the sea front with a conservatory-type space giving a full view of the sea!

Loved this place for 20 years never disapointes.

Having been to the Waterfront many times, we are fond of the restaurant having usually enjoyed great service from the manager, and of course, beautiful views. However, it seems to have slipped given excessive charges and poor service. On our recent visit, we had to flag service down for each request (drinks, ordering food, asking where our food is, bill) after waiting 15+ minutes each time, despite at least 7-8 waiters about. From recent reviews it like we aren’t the only people to find this frustrating. Having ordered a starter - we were also charged £3 for olive oil, which is rediculous. We were intending to return on our trip, but will head elsewhere now.

Great spot with excellent food and service. The terrace with sea views is great if you can get a table. Nice selection of wines too

Really lovely place. Booked to watch the sunset, unfortunately it was a windy, rainy day, but the kids loved watching the waves crashing into each other really close to the restaurant. Food was good, service was spot on. Would highly recommend.

What a beautiful place! We arrived to the I.O.W yesterday and hadn't realised we needed to book. The gentleman kindly found us a table, and was not trouble at all! Food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic - along with the view of the beach, what more could you want! Highly recommend

Visited this lovely place for the first time for a family evening meal. The service was great, staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was lovely and would highly recommend a visit.

The staff is not really friendly at all with the kids. The way the talked to us and the looks they were giving us were horrendous. So much so that we have decided not to order food and have only 1 drink.

Please move the outside advertising sign it blocks the view 😉

Very nice place, the burgers are very good. The fish and chips are in more than generous proportions. The staff is welcoming and the setting is magnificent. The only negative point was that the draft beer was very flat.

Really good lunch here today. We have eaten here generally in winter after a dog walk as they are one of the few that stay open around this part of the Island.

Lovely place, staff genuinely nice. The view is wonderful and I found the food and service matched it.
