20/10 - well done! Having Googled a place for a quick bite to eat prior to returning to the mainland, we spotted The Angel and were impressed by the reviews. As such, we decided to pop in and give it a try. Well, I have to say how very pleased I am that we did. My wife and son had the half peri-peri (piri-piri) chicken, and I had the "Simply The Best" Beefburger. The chicken was excellent - not a poor attempt to mimic that produced at the high-street chain that rhymes with "hand-nose", but a properly balanced seasoned sauce that complimented the chicken while keeping it moist. My only criticism is that a small side pot of the sauce was possibly needed (although not necessary). My burger was perfect. It's rare to get a burger in a restaurant that hasn't been overworked and compacted or over/under seasoned, but this one hit the mark. Not tough, but real melt-in-the mouth and full of flavour. Oh, and just the right amount of salad, perfectly dressed too. Suffice to say I cleared my plate, and then we were offered dessert! I chose the homemade chocolate cake. My son chose the homemade Kinder Bueno cheesecake. Oh, my! The chocolate cake was an absolutely perfect, gooey, moose-y cake with a side of ice-cream, and two spoons (not that I was about to let anyone share). The cheesecake was also right up there, and my son finished the entirety (OK, we both let my wife have a small spoonful, but only grudgingly). Sadly I have no photos of the desserts, as they were gone too quickly. To top this all, the staff (both front of house and behind the scenes) were an absolute delight. We are returning to the IoW in a few weeks time, and will definitely be revisiting!

We went there to have lunch while waiting for the bus and we were all surprised by the quality of the burgers. Good tasting patties and ingredients, with a tasty brioche bun. The service was very friendly, trying their best to prepare the burgers before our bus and giving suggestions of what to do in the isle of wight.

Superb food, the cow claims to have the best burger but I beg to differ the burger here is amazing, you definitely won't leave hungry

How anyone can write a good review on this place, they must have eaten somewhere else. We had a table booked for 7pm with only one other table occupied. We finally got our food at 50 minutes later. The burgers were soggy and fell apart so had to be eaten with a knife and fork , the chicken nuggets were unappetising .They were quick enough to keep offering drinks but were not told about any free refills. We left at 8.10 pm. They seem to prioritise takeaways or spend their time chatting to each other. We only got our food when I asked where it was. Four adult burgers, one kids meal, four soft drinks and one beer, £86. Awful.

Fantastic food, best burgers on the island. Staff are so friendly and always made to feel welcome. Great price and love that you can get unlimited refills on soft drinks. Will definitely be back soon.

We saw the five star reviews online for this restaurant and we thought it looked amazing. Our family ordered a takeaway tonight online at 6pm. We ordered £98 worth of food: 2 kids chicken nuggets and chips, a halloumi burger, 2 pulled pork fries, 2 highwayman burgers, pork ribs, and churros. It was expected to be arriving at 7:25pm. It arrived at 8:30pm When it arrived, our burgers were soggy and fell apart completely. The kids chicken nuggets were chewy and processed. The churros were okay but freezing cold. The fries were soggy and uncooked. The ribs were cold, dry and tasteless. The nicest part of the meal was the kids fruit shoots. After waiting for 2 and a half hours after ordering, to tuck into our food to this was appalling. The annoying this about this is that we ordered through Just Eat, so we can’t even receive any type of refund. Might aswell have put £100 down the drain. Please learn from our lesson and 1. Do not waste your money or time ordering from here. 2. Do not order from here on Just Eat as it will be a 2.30 waiting time and disappointment. If we’d have known our dinner would be like this we would have spent half the price from the local chinese. Lesson learnt.

Fast food delivery 😋 hot as well. Well worth the money. Pork ribs were amazing 👏 season chips couldn't get enough of them. Sweetcorn was lovely too. Beefburger not greese full of flavour over all excellent and will have again 👍

Excellent food and great value, with a friendly welcome at the door. The notice board, outside the restaurant, proclaims: ' The best burger in town.' Well, they don't lie. it really is the best burger in town! In addition, the Ribs are to die for! The food is fresh, beautifully presented and, with the added bonus of some good old school soft rock music playing quietly in the background, it all adds up to an enjoyable evening out. I highly recommend this restaurant. Well done Angel Grill!

Fried fried and more fried. Takeaway takes priority over service. It took over an hour to be fried only to be served by the Uber driver. Flat coke. The worst piece of salmon fillet I've ever seen . It was not salmon fillet,it was the very end of the tail at best. Very nice people,just not so good food unless you want just a burger.

Our favourite place to eat on the island. The staff are lovely, the place is friendly and the food is wonderful. I think I’ve tried just about everything on the menu by now and I’ve never been disappointed. Special highlights are the ribeye steak, the minted lamb burger and the ribs. Can’t recommend it enough!

It’s a shame as I normally cannot fault the place, food is good but today the service was appalling, unhappy staff that not once come over to ask if food was ok nor ask us if we wanted a top up on our drinks. They forgot the side dish we ordered and not once apologised for it and still hadn’t arrived once we had finished our food. It’s put me off coming back to a place we really enjoy the food unfortunately

The food was amazing especially the chicken breast, service was good and friendly, you can watch them cook your food on the grill. Very reasonable price too and very filling.

Amazing food, nice staff, ribs could be a bigger portion as could use more sauce, a bit expensive but it's reasonable for the quality, should deliver to more of the island, if they delivered to niton, i would buy more often, and if the owner reads this, no, the food doesn't get cold by the time i get home from picking it up from you! Also, chips could be better quality and better cooked, a bit disappointing to have all this amazing food and then cheap fries lol.

Absolutely Exquisite, first time I've ever gone there; as only just moved into the area. The burger was phenomenal, cooked to perfection. Bacon was crisp and full of flavour, even the side salad was bloody lovely and I'm not a salad guy whatsoever dressing on it was delicious. Popcorn chicken cooked just right and full of flavour. Portion of chips was the right portion size which you don't see often nowadays! Staff were lovely in there and very welcoming, music was subtle and not modern music which was ideal for me. Will definitely be coming back again 🥰

The beef burgers are unreal. I had the farmer john and my bf had the simply the best and they are the most tastiest burger we have ever had. Friendly staff and great price too. Can't wait to return.

Ate in Angel Bar & Grill this evening after booking a table for three stating it was our grandsons birthday. The service and food was superb and they had even remembered it was our grandsons birthday so a dessert with candle came out to a happy birthday song. Fabulous evening 😊

Ordered a takeaway for delivery from the restaurants app. The food (despite the 15 minute delivery time) arrived piping hot, and as ordered. It was our first time ordering from here and I would highly recommend. All of the family enjoyed what they ordered, large portions and fresh and very tasty. We will be back but next time to dine in.

Terrible customer service for take away/ delivery, I didn’t receive some of my order, then to be called a liar and told that it was delivered is an absolute joke! Received all of the food but no drinks. If I was lying surely I’d say I didn’t receive the overpriced food not the drinks!! The drinks were for my children so not happy at all!!! Delivery driver is lying!!

We were very happy to find Angel Bar and Grill still open and serving food after 6pm after it seems all the local pubs were not for one reason or another. We both enjoyed spare ribs and two sides, washed down with beer fore and wine for Sally. Lovely staff, good music too.

Small independent restaurant with very friendly staff. Food is beautifully presented & delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the music too! My husband raved about the bbq sauce on his chicken wings, so when we left they gave us a small pot to take away - wouldn't get that in a chain.

We went in today and had the most wonderful meal, all freshly cooked, so very tasty. Definately be back again, check it out you won't be disappointed.

I went in there by mistake. Food was fine, American style so vegetarian options were not the greatest. We had nachos which were not that loaded and halloumi burgers and cheese balls. It was fine but would probably go for the meat options next time.

Food was absolutely delicious. Had half a chicken with mild piri piri salad and curly fries. Bottomless coke. It was also really good value, all 7 of us enjoyed our evening. Staff are great too . Highly recommend x

What can I say! Wow, we came this evening and the food was absolutely incredible, my boyfriend ordered the mild peri peri wings for start, and they were STUNNING!!! We then had the ribs and the 10oz ribeye steak, and both of these mains were cooked to absolute perfection, the steak just melted in your mouth. Can I say, my boyfriend never orders steak out as rarely it gets cooked very well, and he said this was the best steak he had ever eaten and rated it 10/10! We then got puddings which we took home and again, incredible. We have only had takeaways and they have always been amazing, so very nice to go and eat in and we cannot wait to come back and bring some of our family members along with us. The customer service was also amazing! Not one fault. Highly recommend!

Can honestly say we had the nicest meal in a very long time. Went for my dads birthday as we’ve driven past so many times without trying… this will now be the family local for all occasions. Such friendly owners and a really nice vibe. Definitely recommend!

Had a great meal here the other night. Had never been before, even though we live nearby, but the food was superb along with the presentation. The staff were very nice and the service was great. Good music too! We even got given a complimentary dessert to try. Thoroughly recommend!!

Great food. We were the only ones in there which isn't a great feeling that it's a decent place, it was 3pm on a Saturday. But we needn't have worried, all three mains and the pudding were fantastic and reasonably priced. If we ever visit IOW again, we'd go back.

Food was nice. Drinks were expensive, had ribs and no toothpicks, sat for 10 mins trying to get the meat from my teeth. Still eating and waiter trying to empty the table. (The place was empty) didn't need the seating.

Excellent service. One of the best burgers I’ve had in a while, and not too pricey. Took a while to arrive but was worth the wait.

I placed an £90 order for food at 2130 to be delivered. At 2300 Was told it would be 20min for food to be delivered when I called. I'm only 15 min away. Waited and nothing, called again and had a rude woman shouting in the background. Absolutely a disgrace. Would never use again rude and never delivered had to request a refund and was so late I didn't have anywhere else to get food from.

Waited more than 2 hours, and it was not received. we ordered a 90-pound order, and women was violently cursing in the back ground

As always this is our go to place on the island. It needs to be recognised by more people for the amazing quality of food. You can taste the freshness in everything they make. Best place to eat out on the Isle of Wight in my opinion as it is always consistent with the quality of food and service. Staff are just the best. I don't often leave reviews but felt I needed to for this restaurant. My partner and I popped in this evening and can honestly say has the BEST burgers ever. So flavoursome, great value for money and the service was brilliant. The lady worked so hard and was very attentive. We took milkshakes away to enjoy for after our meal and they didn't disappoint either. We will be recommending this place to friends and family and already looking forward to our next visit. Me and my husband had an amazing 3 course meal tonight. From the starter to the dessert the quality and tastes of everything was outstanding! Due to family circumstances we have not been able to dine in - but for my Birthday we wanted to try the food, as menu looked great. So, we ordered via the app, sent my husband into collect. He came out saying, "Let's hope the food is as good as service, saying how truly lovely the owners / staff are". Needless to say the food was fantastic, real restaurant quality and worth every penny. We have been back numerous times and will continue to do so, when we can. Having gone from Click and collect to the staff extending a delivery option. Dispite us being out of the area code. I can genuinely say the staff go above and beyond to accommodate and the food just gets better. What a true asset to the Island!! We thank you for providing us with back to back astounding customer service. Good restaurant, quality food, very reasonable priced, customer service 10/10. Thank you Angel Bar and Grill 😊

The best burgers around and the piri piri chicken is lovely

Went for a meal with my partner after a day at Carisbrooke Castle as it was within walking distance. Absolutely adored the food. Burgers were INCREDIBLE. Very fast and friendly service at the upward end of reasonable prices. We bought the unlimited soda and didn't have to ask for refills as they were very attentive at asking if we wanted a top up. The menus were falling apart a little bit, and the table was a little sticky, but it's not worth downgrading to 4 stars when it didn't negatively affect our lovely experience. Thanks and we will likely be back again!

We have had takeaway a couple of times from here and it's always absolutely amazing. Went in for drinks last week and the owners are so lovely, service was exceptional. A new favourite for sure!

Got us a table at last minute, very welcoming into their beautifully relaxing restaurant and food to die for. Possibly the best burger I’ve ever had and the milkshakes were incredible. Great, warming food with good portions for a great price. Lovely people. What more could you want. We will be back.

Had an amazing time. Booked in the morning for the afternoon for 5 people. Had a few steaks across the table and everyone was cooked to perfection accompanied by some double fryed chips, salad and a dip, I believe it was bbq whiskey which was really nice but you really didn't need a lot of it. Halloumi fries were good but the chocolate brownie and ice cream were excellent and I was happy to finish off someone else's as well. The woman that served us was very helpful and very upbeat, just a pleasure to be around.

I was taken out for my birthday, and this place is absolutely amazing! Beautiful steaks perfectly cooked, my wife had a burger and again home made and just lovely. Couldn’t recommend enough. Very friendly staff as well, perfect evening All of the T-bone steaks had sold out but luckily the staff managed to get me a T-bone for my birthday 😂
