The Coach House Restaurant at Ravenstone Lodge in Isle of Wight

Driving along the road heading into Keswick decide to stop here for a drink. We were greeted with a warm welcome so much so decided we would stay for evening meal. My friend and I were not disappointed. Food was superb and service first class. Couldnt do enough for us. I can certainly recommend this lovely place and hope to go back very soon.

Excellent venue with stunning views of the lakes scenery. The food was first class, we had 2 duck main courses from the specials menu, and 2 really lovely desserts - cannot praise the quality of the food highly enough. The head waiter was also great, really put us at ease.

Fabulous as ever! We have been coming for over 3 years now and the food is simply the best. The menu changes but thankfully not my husband's favourite twice baked cheese soufflé... tonight we enjoyed the salmon and the lamb. Staff are wonderful and you are made to feel very welcome. Extensive wine list. Restaurant has a sublime view of the lakeland greenery.

We went for a meal on our last evening of our holiday. Truly wish we had been before. Would definitely go back. The food was delicious and presented very well. The two waiters were an asset to the restaurant. Overall a great evening.

You have fantastic chefs that clearly take great pride in the quality and presentation of their food, third visit tonight. Equally important is the atmosphere and service, both Brett & Pete gave us a very warm welcome, and outstanding service. Simply the perfect combination of great food and equally great service. Brett even remembered to order in our favourite dark rum from our conversation at the previous visit, TOP MAN. Didn't stay at hotel but popped in for evening meal, This was without doubt the best fish pie I've tasted in a long time ,well done chef. The waiter/manager was friendly and attentive.

Lovely food at great price ,service was also excellent Peter took time out to teach my daughter how to fold napkins the young lady from broadness was also lovely so sorry can't remember the name.

Duck leg over an innovative and delicious cassoulet. Tender lamb shank. Perfectly cooked sea bass. Cheddar cheese soufflé. Apple crumble. You just can’t make a bad choice. And you must try the house gin. All served attentively under the professional care of Pete and Bret.

Outstanding Food At A Very Reasonable Price Stumbled along this online And was worth the Visit Will Definitely Be Back after Spending Same Amount on Thai Food in Town .There was No Comparison. Friendly classy Casual this Place is Definitely worth your visit And we will certainly Call Again when visiting Area.

We visited as a group of 5 friends on Friday night. Staying at the Bassenthwaite Lakeside Lodges, this was ideal as 5 minutes away. Upon arriving we are warmly welcomed and shown to our table. When asked re our drinks order and we enquired about gin we were shown into the bar area where we were shown their impressive selection and also their whiskeys. Onto the food.... No other words but amazing. A member of our party is on a strict specific diet and they did their utmost to accommodate their every need. Hats off to the chef. The whole experience was so enjoyable, with just enough attention and entertainment from our hosts for the evening. This made the perfect start to my birthday weekend away with friends and we can't thank you enough. We will definitely be back!

Expensive - for what it is - no atmosphere. We were ushered into the converted stables rather than the restaurant, even though the place was half empty.

Absolutely brilliant chef, beautiful food with varied options, great waiter and fabulous wine selection

This restaurant is all about the food. The menu choices are excellent across all courses with daily specials in addition to the regular menu. The food is fresh, excellently cooked, well presented and served hot. The portion sizes are also very plentiful. I couldn’t manage dessert after my first two courses although the dessert choices were delightful. Drinks choices included locally made gin and beer also made locally which I liked . There was also a very good selection of quality wines. I don’t review everywhere I visit as some people seem to do, only those places that really merit the praise ( or criticism) and the Coach House really does deserve the praise. The food , apart from being excellent, is also very good value for money and not as expensive as other similar standard restaurants. Only a short drive out from Keswick the location of The Coach House is easily reached and the westerly views from the restaurant conservatory add even extra pleasure to the experience. The whole experience was completed by the friendly, professional and excellent service provided by the restaurant manager Brett. Thanks again. We will most definitely be back next year .

I've made better mushroom risotto myself, didn't resemble the description on the menu. Button mushrooms not the exotic mix promised. Vegan soufflé had texture of suet.Undercooked celeriac with over cooked duck.Don't bother with the Coach House because the food is outstanding across the road at the Ravenstone Manor.

A bewildered welcome from a member of temporary staff but then we were rescued by a very friendly efficient lady. The conservatory was cool tired & unwelcoming. We were seated in a strange square room - like someone’s sitting room but all magnolia with tables set for breakfast! Sat by the door & it was cold. Items off but on the menu & chef shouting out to the staff to give alternatives. Duck over cooked & mushroom risotto with boiled rice. The wine was excellent and well priced.

Absolutely stunning in terms of both taste and presentation. Highly recommend eating here. Hors d'oeuvres a wonderful surprise (and delicious!); small tasty homemade loaves and butter on slate; fabulous mains; stunning desserts! A taste sensation. best meals we ate all holiday.

We stayed at different hotel opposite with similar name. Spotted it across the road and noted it had good reviews so tried it. Friendly reception when we arrived. Good comfortable sitting areafor drinks and ordering. Food was good. Mistake with wrong first course but tasted good anyway. Ended up not paying for this, nor drinks. Enjoyed.

Often Monday's are when the Chef is off. This didn't detract, if it was so from us having a 1st class meal in the Bistro. Prices seemed right, draught Nastro was lively and the staff very accommodating.

Ate here every evening during our five night stay. Food always excellently cooked and presented. Small menu but don't let that stop you coming here. All produce served was sourced locally and a specials board that had some genuine delights such as the whole roast wood pidgeon.

Both Nick and Sue who served us at the Coach House were friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The meal was superb and the ambience great. Low level music - which was welcome. Often we go to restaurants which has music far too loud. There is also seating outside with a lovely view - great when the weather permits. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We spent two nights at the hotel, and had a dinner and two breakfasts in the Coach House Restaurant. Dinner was nicely presented, and featured well prepared local fresh produce. The breakfast choices were also very well prepared.

This is a lovely restaurant with very good, friendly and efficient staff. It is part of the hotel which also looks very nice. The dining room is small with an intimate ambiance. Pre dinner drinks on the terrace on a beautiful sunny June evening was also perfect.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were very welcoming and we enjoyed our pre dinner drinks on the beautiful terrace overlooking the stunning countryside. The service continued to be very good and the food was delicious. Lovely restaurant in a lovely hotel.

Great food, cheerfully served and comfortably digested. The reputation for your Coach House restaurant is well deserved.

We arrived punctually for our reservation and replied that we were ready to go to the table when offered a choice of that or having a drink in the lounge. Apparently going to the lounge first is expected and guests put in their orders there, not at the table. After that we were treated as total pariahs the entire evening. If that were not enough, servers kept running through the small dining room (between kitchen and lounge?) Making haste is one thing but in the small elegant dining room it was disruptive and this went on throughout the meal. We got French uppity waiter attitude and I hate to tell them, this isn't France. Actually most French waiter are much nicer. I certainly would never go there again or send anyone to them after this experience.

We went for our anniversary. The setting and views are beautiful. The staff were very welcoming and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. We were the last to leave, but didn't feel rushed by the staff.

We went to the Coach House for my husband's birthday meal. The food was outstanding, we had the cheese souffle and salmon mousse for starters and wild rabbit and lamb for mains. The service was excellent as well, great attention to detail. Would love to visit again!

A lovely quiet boutique hotel in the Lakes nearby to Keswick in Bassenthwaite. Chance find and will be returning soon!

We have eaten here several times in the last few months and have always had enjoyable meals The young chef creates interesting three course menus and frequently comes out to speak with diners about the food. Very good value for money.

Elegant menu from which you can choose two or three courses. The food is absolutely superb & beautifully presented in an intimate dining room with well-dressed tables.

I had the partridge main which arrived as a partridge breast with a few small bits of beetroot and a couple of crisps. This was the size of a starter and at £17 extremely overpriced. As I was still hungry after the main I decided to have a pudding, this was effectively just a school dinner plums and ice cream and again overpriced at £6 for what it was.

The afternoon tea today was fabulous. Home made bread for the sandwiches, nice scones and a lovely selection of homemade cakes and deserts. Many thanks to Mike and the resident chef for excellent all-round service. Mandy

A quaint place to go for a nice relaxing meal with the option to sit outside.

We bought vouchers for afternoon tea from Travelzoo for my brother and his wifes birthdays. They were thoroughly disappointed. NO butter on the sandwich bread, the bread was sliced very thickly! The sandwich fillings were extremely mean.

Eating out is not all about the food....it’s the whole experience....and this left us disappointed. The food was a mixed bag. The soufflé starters were delicious as was the pigeon starter and the lamb main. The beef was very fatty and the pork was average. We dined in the restaurant which had no atmosphere whatsoever. It wasn’t very busy which didn’t help and no music which could have softened the ambience. The waitresses obviously didn’t want to be there and were very bland and almost unfriendly. None of our group would return......definitely not worth the money.

Really enjoyed our meal here. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is great. A good range and choice. Quality is very good. Couldn’t fault it. Definitely worth a visit if you are holidaying around Keswick or Bassenthwaite.

Best steak I have tasted in UK for a long time - well done chef! Succulent, tender and very flavoursome. A culinary experience I would normally associated with travelling in the US or Africa.

We stayed at the hotel and decided to try an evening meal at the venue. I am vegetarian and can be a little hard to please when choosing somewhere to eat but was pleasantly surprised. I had a beautiful pea/mint risotto for main and fresh cheese/tomato salad for starter served on the terrace. The food was fresh and to a really good standard, If you don't have to wait for it to be prepared its not fresh, so a 20 minute or so wait with a glass of something from the well stocked bar was no issue at all! My husband had the mackerel starter and a chicken and pancetta pie main of which he cleaned the plate and thoroughly enjoyed! The 1 brownie dessert for my husband (served with 2 spoons..Thank you by the way) was a great dessert to finish. The staff were attentive without being intrusive and we had a great evening. I only now ask that you pop another vegetarian option on the menu for when we return so I can have something different each night! If we lived local we would be regulars!

Whilst the service is a little haphazard, with multiple people serving at the same time, it only adds to the charm of the place. To be honest, the service could be horrendous if it wanted as the food speaks for itself. Every course was absolutely sublime with depth of flavour. Miss this place at your peril.

My partner and I recently visited the hotel and were excited to be able to dine there too, as we knew it's reputation. It didn't disappoint! I wish I'd taken photos because the main course of Seabass and gnocchi was honestly one of the best main courses I have had in a long while. We also had starters and a lovely wine, and my partner tried the creme brulee - all simple, fresh and delicious. We were able to relax in the conservatory as we waited and could also choose from both menus which was fun! All of this was explained well and we were treated like first-class diners. Thanks, Nick! Our annual visit to Ravenstone Lodge on each of the last three years has always given us a quality of food and service that makes the visit such a pleasure and rounds off our trips down from Scotland on a high.

Reservamos una mesa basada en los comentarios. Al principio nos preocupaba como esperar al menos 5 minutos para ser reconocida, luego nos dijeron que habíamos reservado en el Bistro cuando no tenía. Nos ofrecieron comer en el restaurante de todos modos? ! Nos sentamos en el conservatorio con los menús (cuando otros comensales fueron tomados en el Bistro). Las opciones de menú no estaban claras (por el tío que tenía al final nos recibió), así que pedimos a la camarera que era muy servicial. Teníamos que decidir si quedarse a comer o no y decidimos probarlo. Pedimos 2 x especiales cordero (sólo me dijeron que 5 minutos más tarde que la única que queda en 7. 45:00). Decidimos no quedarnos como para ser honestos, fue como un sitio raro y extraño servicio (desde la gent). Pagamos por nuestras bebidas y la izquierda para cenar en otro sitio.

Both the bar and restaurant at Ravenstone Lodge served beautiful, freshly cooked, locally sourced food to keep us fuelled for our stay. The service was expertly delivered by Nick and Sue and we felt blessed to be part of it.

We visited on Friday and all had fantastic food. It is a lovely setting and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I received travel zoo voucher as a birthday gift. Wonderful setting, a drink on the patio as the sun went down. Really interesting menu and the 3 course meal was wonderful.

Immediately relegated to ‘brasserie’ which had decor of 1970s motorway service station replete with photographs of menu on the wall (families with children not allowed in dining area including our thirteen year old son).

The 3 course dinner couldnt be bettered .We had (1)cheese tart (2)smoked haddock to start followed by perfectly cooked mains (1) rare fillet (2) brill Then finished off with panacotta ,honeycomb crisp on rhubarb PERFECT!

I booked a 3 course meal for 2 using a travel zoo voucher which was excellent value for money. There was a huge choice of options given what a small kitchen they have. All credit to the chef as the food was excellent. Would highly recommend eating there, just wished we had booked for more than 1 night! On the wine list the owner makes some recommendations and we chose a red that was gorgeous. Lots of nice touches like this at the venue.

Family of 3 dined last night. Food was absolutely amazing. My 8 year old commented that it was the best meal he had ever had. Both my husband and I haven't stopped talking about the quality of food.

A great selection of varied dishes on a la carte and specials.across two separate dining rooms. I had the lamb and black pudding pie. Yum! Don't think lunch is available.

This is our second stay at this hotel and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. The food was of an excellent standard and in our opinion gives good value for money. We will be back soon.

Wow well we have returned from a one night stay at Ravenstone Lodge a lovely setting, a nice relaxing atmosphere with helpful and friendly staff. The food was amazing couldn't fault it, best meal we had during our holiday. good portion sizes not to large/small and reasonable prices especially compared to other places in the Lakes. If back in the area without hesitation I would return for a meal here. Brilliant tasty food!!!! They also have a great gin selection too

We had our aniversary on Sunday.We chose the place because was looking quiet and nice and we wanted only to celebrate our wedding aniversary in an intimate place but not too fancy. What a choice.. The food is to die for, the place is small..only about 6 tables, very good service and all in one perfect. The restaurant is placed in an old horse stable with the original walls with nice carpet on floor, very comfortable and great ambiance. Thank you guys to make our day so perfect.

We booked an afternoon tea through the Travelzoo website. The afternoon tea was served in a conservatory with lovely views towards the lake. Everything was delicious. A crisply refreshing glass of Prosecco; freshly made sandwiches; lovely cakes; scones with butter, jam and clotted cream and a light lemon posset with fresh berries. Friendly and welcoming service. Most enjoyable!

We stayed at the Ravenstone Lodge and had all but one of our evening meals in the Stables Bistro. We loved the atmosphere, with the stable fittings and equipment, resplendent in dark green paint, adding to the ambience.

We eat here on our visit to the Lakes as it was just across the road from where we were staying. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We eat in the Bistro which was an old converted stables and made it an interesting location as our table was literally in one of the old stable blocks. The food was well prepared and presented and tasted delicious. Would definitely come back again. Well worth a visit if you want to get away from the busy restaurants of Keswick
