Accidentally ended up here during a late night drive and actually walked in looking for a vegan restaurant. The waiter (Juan) was so friendly that his cheerfulness convinced me to stay and dine on the patio of the restaurant. Juan recommended their vegan option, which was a vegan wrap. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenery while sitting on the porch as the cars drove by. The music was classical and I was very relaxed while eating my meal because the ambiance was perfect. Thank you Juan for your excellent hospitality. Will definitely be back!
I approve of the Rully. Small shop, but seems to be a nice selection. Hoping to see some more white burgundy’s, although I understand it’s a small place so that’s probably not their top priority.
At first you feel a little rude pressing the button for service, but it really does work! It allows the staff to get things done and you don’t have to try and grab their attention if needed - you just press the button and they’re told about it, without delay you have service. The food, as always, excellent. We’ve been here numerous times now and whilst we miss the old “steak nights”, the menu is still extensive and the food wonderfully cooked.
Went to this pub as it came recommended by the person we rented the cottage from and several of the previous holidaymakers in the Guest Book. We went on our last night (a Friday) at 6.00pm.
We had 2 dogs with us which meant we had to sit in the bar area. This area seemed to be full of regulars having their end of working week drinks. Whilst there is nothing wrong with that, it did mean it was very noisy, so if you are looking for a quiet meal, then this is not for you.
The Steak & Ale pie, Belly Pork and Fish & Cips were all good, but not exceptional. The Peach & Rhubarb Crumble was a strange combination and the crumble on top wasn't cooked. I had something from the specials board, which was Nutella Brownie with custard. The Brownie was really dry and the taste of Nutella was largely absent.
It wasn't an expensive meal and the staff were extremely poilte and attentive. There are lot's more pubs that are dog friendly in the area, so the next time I visit the island I'll probably give one of them a go!

We visited twice while on holiday for a week. First Sunday lunch was amazing, roast beef and all the trimmings was cook to perfection. Pub was busy, so had to wait about 45min and in my experience that is perfectly exceptable for the quality food we received. 2nd time was early evening, we had burgers all round. Again, very well, cook great quality ingredients and was served within 20 mins.
My son is also a celiac, and to pub offers a great gluten-free menu, which he was very happy about.
The landlord and staff are very welcoming, helpful and great atmosphere.
The best recommendation I can give this place is I wish it was near to where I live. I will return and I recommend it to anyone.
Great meal, good service, Rang and booked the previous night, allowed to seat outside and then move inside if required- it wasn’t as the weather was kind to us. Great view over the harbour and ferry. All food was well presented and tasty.
Shanklin's best! Staff are amazing, food is fantastic and it always has a nice buzz. This former gentleman's taylor shop has turned into an excellent resturant filled with great people!
