We were staying just 5 mins from Propeller Inn, so we booked for a roast dinner on Sunday. The service was a bit slow but everyone was very nice, the food was delicious, very tasty, one of the best roasts we ever had and the puddings were yummy as well 😋 We will definitely come back when we are on IOW again.

Came across this pub by chance on our way round the Isle of Wight. They were very busy and we hadn't booked but were immediately shown to a spare table. They have a call buzzer system when you are ready to order, which is a great addition. The waitresses were exceptional, courteous and attentive. We ordered ale-battered cod, scampi and chunky chips which were utterly scrumptious. Definitely worth a visit!

Eating out has just became more expensive! We’ve dined at The Propellor with grandson a couple of times before and one of us has usually ordered their delicious Rack of Ribs with BBQ sauce that has then had to be shared with our young grandson who loves to suck on a bone or two. This time we gave in to his protests not to order his meal off the youngsters menu but allow him to have a full rack of ribs to himself. We understood that the adults would be more than willing to help him out when clearing his plate became a problem. No such luck. He cleared his plate and announced to all ‘I’m on the big menu now’. But anyway we love visiting The Propellor. Plenty of parking and great to sit outside with a drink watching the small aircraft come and go before taking a seat for a meal. The menu has something for everyone with dishes well prepared and served by very pleasant staff. Due to its popularity best to go on reservation rather than just turning up.

Lovely! We arrived on spec, a bit late for lunch really, but the staff who served us were lovely and very welcoming. The restaurant was pleasant, with the added attraction of light planes coming and going. The menu was varied and very reasonably priced, service was quite quick, and the food was lovely. Visited on an evening with family, the food was very average and the staff, other than one waitress seemed very unhappy to be there. It is a shame, as on an afternoon for lunch the food was apparently lovely as my parents visited a few days ago. I think perhaps they had more covers than they could handle. The location of the pub is lovely.

Me and my partner came here whilst visiting isle of wight on holiday, we had the camembert starter and also 2x fish and chips for main, we had the starter fine but then waited over 40 minutes for the main course, in which I had to say something for them to cook it and bring it out as they said they was plating it up but took a good 10 mins for it to come out. The food however was delicious, so no complaints there. Just the service needs improving thanks guys!

On our visit to the Isle of Wight, this might well have been one of our favourite meals. The staff were amazing and very attentive to everyone in the restaurant. There was also a call button on each table for a staff member to come to take your order/get the bill etc and it’s such an amazing idea! Definitely beats trying to get an already busy staff members attention whilst they’re dealing with 100 other things! The food came out about 10/15 minutes after we’d ordered which is good when you have a toddler at the table! I went for the Bacon + Brie burger from the specials menu, my partner went for the ribs, and we ordered Sausages for our daughter. All the food was amazing and being able to see the planes taking off was great entertainment whilst we were waiting/eating. I couldn’t recommend this place enough!

Flew into Bembridge to visit the beach, and stopped at the Propeller Inn for lunch. It as busy. Very busy. If you plan to visit, book a table because you won’t get one otherwise. The service was on the slower side, and the buttons on the table for ordering didn’t seem to actually do anything. Eventually we managed to get our food, which was fairly standard pub food. We then waited. And waited. And eventually we were able to pay and get on our way! Would I visit again? Yes! Definitely, but maybe during a quieter time, or maybe eat at an unconventional time to avoid the inevitable waiting caused by the amount of people being served.

Enjoyed the sunset in the beer garden before we ate. They accommodated a large group of around 20, albeit we were sat on different tables but still in the same room. We ordered and paid separately but they tried to bring everything out together or as close to together as possible. The ribs were excellent, the pie fantastic, the kids meals large and substantial. Apart from being comfortable and warm The Propeller has lovely staff, and excellent service. It was a Sunday so a choice of roasts including vegetarian is on offer. Without doubt, we had the best carvery lunch you could wish for. Wide choice, generous portions, everything beautifully cooked, and to follow there were scrummy desserts. (The Belgian waffle with vanilla ice cream, salted caramel and chocolate sauce was heavenly). All this at very reasonable prices. I thoroughly recommend a visit. PS they even allow well behaved dogs.

This is quite THE best pub going! Literally magnificent food... so in detail, my husband had the steak and ale pie. Clearly homemade pastry and filled to capacity with juicy meat, wonderful vegetables (same for Sunday roast) - this chef really believes in cooking vegetables beautifully. I had the cajun chicken, have to admit to having had it before and it was actually stupendous. Although I am an enthusiastic cook myself, I could not have done this better. Simply perfectly cooked cajun chicken with a tomato salsa, lime, chili and sour cream with wonderfully crisp french fries. I can only give both these dishes 120%. Only wish they were closer as getting to the Isle of Wight is challenging, except we flew in as we have a little plane. Take this formula onto the mainland and you'd have a mega success on your hands. While it's at Bembridge, then we love it and will come back time and time again. Please don't close! Love, Chrissi

Based on Google information we had high hopes for this pub but there was only one vegetarian option and that was unavailable. We were hoping for a roast dinner but that didn't appear to be available. We rang the bell for service but no one came (was it faulty?) so we left. However we did stop to talk to the guy at the bar (manager?) who offered to make halloumi burgers, so they tried to accommodate vegetarian diets. I expect that people who eat meat and fish would have a much better experience.

The Propeller Inn does not look quaint. I has no thatched roof or babbling brook. But if you drive past and choose not to stop and dine, you are missing something special. (N.B. It does have a very smart outdoor dining/drinking veranda which I'm sure would be amazing on a sunny day watching the light aircraft take off and land from the adjacent Bembridge Airport). After reading reviews here my wife and I stopped by Friday after lunch service to check availability for that evening. Lucky we did as there were just 2 tables left. I suggest you book if you intend to dine. There is a large, free, car park but we arranged for a drop off and pick up from Bembridge Taxis (recommended). We had a problem with the menu: virtually all of the dishes are on our 'go-to' list. It was as if the chef knew all of our favourites and there they all were! We each chose a starter (warm scotch egg and deep fried whitebait) both were delicious. We both plumped for the much reviewed full rack of ribs. They were amazing! (I was a little concerned as I'm currently receiving dental treatment but these were 'fall-off-the bone' good. No worries there! Although portion sizes are large we both wanted to see if the desserts matched the quality of our starters/mains. They did: apple and mixed berry crumble and a 'proper' in-house cheesecake. Yummo! Star of the show was definitely the food (quality, presentation) and indeed the chef(s) who prepared our meal. A very special mention however to the two wait staff/greeters: although the restaurant was full they whizzed around with smiling polite efficiency. They are a credit to the restaurant. Bill paid, drinks finished, full to the brim, our taxi arrived (on time) to take us home very contented. I suggest you book and go. Soon.
