The best restaurants in Newport Central Isle of Wight South East

We came here on a Monday lunchtime in April after a long walk. We found a table and got my husband’s mobility scooter in through the door the staff helped. Went to the bar and ordered some drinks and sat back down to look at the menu which is excellent a really good selection. We finally decided that the liver and bacon was good and the fish and chips with mushy peas . So we ordered at the bar, the girl behind the bar was friendly and very helpful a lovely lady. After a short time our food came out which was absolutely delicious both of them. The staff are brilliant and the food was delicious and hot the drinks were great too. We will be back soon an absolute pleasure and wonderful pub. No parking it’s on the high street there’s paid parking outside if you’re lucky enough to get a space.

Bacon sandwich extortionate price no frills .coffee was awful . Took one back as boiling hot why have a nice coffee machine if you don’t know how to use it ! Won’t be coming back even though we are islanders .

Best chocolate cake and brownies ever purchased. A hidden gem of a cafe. Far better than the chains. Fantastic service and superb food.

Excellent pizzas at Freshwater Bay, eaten by the Travelling Tavern on a sunny evening. Difficult to beat! Great price too. Highly recommended.

What an exceptional hotel. We were lucky to stay in the apartment. Whilst it’s a walk from the main hotel and restaurant area it was a beautiful place to spend a few days on the island. The staff who help with breakfast and cleaning are a credit to the two managers. Everyone is so lovely and the husband and wife team couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay again. The perfect location in striking distance of the whole island. The only small thing would be to have at least a King size bed. The double is rather small.

Friendly, relaxed and welcoming, great beer garden and loads of events, really enjoy the music ones and their karaoke in particular 😊

Another fantastic dinner from chia wing. Takeaway containers rammed to the top, the oyster sauce is amazing as are prawn crackers, can't wait to work through your wonderful menu. Someone here knows what they're doing. Tried other local places, however this is the best as I'm a fussy beggar. David.

Had dinner here on Friday 23rd. Lovely pub on the river with outside seating. Pub was packed. We found our table and ordered food at the bar. Not particularly welcoming, I appreciate it was busy but still, this was our first visit so a bit of general information regarding ordering would have been good. Food was hot, mine was OK but my husbands fish overcooked and dry. Music started. The whole place started to empty about 8pm/8.30pm. As there were lots of families with young children.

Food is not cheap, but very much worth it. I've ordered many times from Novo and the food is always good. I particularly recommend the peri peri salted chips. It's super easy to customise your order by removing or adding options, which is rarely the case with other restaurants. Much appreciated! Aly is also super communicative, and I always receive a WhatsApp message letting me know when the order is out for delivery.

Had the seniors fish and chips today for lunch. Chips were tasty and hot. The fish was soft and flaky not over cooked. The batter on the fish was light and crispy. All in all a great fish and chips lunch cooked to perfection. At £6.50 you can't complain.

We had a nice lunch out today at Gods Providence House.. polite and friendly service.very clean and tasty food the wait wasn't long after we ordered.we will be back.

The food I had here was disgusting I can’t even give any stars due to this but has to put 1, I ordered vegetable spring rolls and had to ask a few times which didn’t mind doing but for it to turn up an be duck spring rolls is just mind boggling, I then ordered chicken chow main and egg fried rice with sweet and sour sauced The sauce tasted bitter an not like seeet and sour, the chicken in the chow mein was rubbery fatty and as far as I’m aware didn’t taste nothing like chicken I tried one mouthful and will be taking the food back their tomorrow as they persisted to argue when I rang and tried to tell me I just didn’t like the food !!! No it was disgusting for the price of meat on £20 DO NOT RECOMMEND

Brilliant pizzas & service. We had a pizza each, including a spicy pizza off the specials board that was recommended by the waitress. They even fulfilled my request for one of the pizza’s to be extra crisp! The pizzas were the best I have ever had. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.
