We went down the Town today, for something to eat, as we had been before and the Food was nice. Today we had a shocking experience, one that was just unbelievable to be honest. My Husband had a Chicken Mayo Sandwich, which he normally really enjoys elsewhere, but upon taking ONE BITE, there WAS SKIN on it, so he didn’t like it and I went in and POLITELY explained he was not keen on it as it had skin on. Both the Woman and Man owner argued that it was “lovely” and had no skin on. There was skin on the chicken, anyone could see that. Andrew then came out of the Kitchen and questioned why my Husband did not like it and said it’s lovely chicken, I said maybe to you but my husband didn’t like it as it had skin on. They were incredibly rude about the whole situation and kept staring at us while me and my mother in law finished our food. He had one bite and asked nicely if he could have a cheese sandwhich instead. They said “rudely” it would be a charge for that sandwhich still and an extra charge on top for the fresh one. We at this point were quite annoyed with the treatment and said don’t worry, leave it. The Waitress then came out, and because we explained we shouldn’t have to pay because had one bite she rudely went “well” tutted and walked off. The whole service here is extremely poor. There was 3 of us eating and saw the pink crispy bits that were clearly skin! We were very polite about it and was met with nothing but rudeness and snobby staff/owners. The bread on the sandwhich was stale anyway, with dried tomatoes and tiny amount of rocket. Over £7 and you don’t even get crisps or a good amount of fresh salad with it. We did mention we would leave this review, as that’s what a review section is for, and we got “oh yeah we will reply to it” so I look forward to your reply Emma and Andrew. Do better. I will also add on that yes my mother in law did say “we won’t be f*****g coming back here, before they try and say we were rude. We are angry at this point, as we were being spoken to poorly.

I had a salmon and prawn ploughman's, it was lovely and plenty of salmon and prawns, some of the prawns were quite small but still very nice, I also had a vegan fruit cake, usually vegan fruit cakes tend to be dry but this was the best I have had. Working in hospitality myself I always notice when I get good service, the key to being good is to just be yourself. The young blonde lady who served us was smiley, complimented me and was bubbly and approachable, which puts the customers at ease , my bacon Brie and cranberry roll was of good size with plenty of filling . We spoke to the manager on the way out who was also just as friendly. So on my next visit to Newport , this cafe is worth a visit .

We went twice! We abandoned the traditional Full English for an incredible warm waffle with a thick slice of goat cheese topped with walnuts and honey. Divine! Melting cheese and slightly caramelised sugars. Later we had the cream tea served with warm crumbly scones. Plenty of clotted cream. Sadly the jam was more a gel than homemade strawberry but it’s all a matter of preference. Staff are welcoming and helpful.

We stopped off for liquid refreshments whilst shopping. My husband had a large coffee, I had a cold drink. We sat outside in the sunshine with our drinks, which were delivered by a friendly young waitress. I would have left a 5 star review as it was very pleasant sitting there with our drinks. However, we were somewhat surprised when a young waitress approached our table and asked us if we minded leaving as soon as we had finished our drinks, as someone else might want to sit down. There was nobody waiting to be served and two tables were unoccupied so I was somewhat surprised. But she then approached the table next to us and asked the two older ladies the same thing. One lady protested that she still had half her latte, and the girl told her that was ok but could they leave when they had finished. It ruined the ambiance for us so we got up and left. For this reason I have a rating of 3 as we wouldn’t have ordered there if we had known we were expected to rush our drinks and leave.

On the hunt for something tasty for lunch, I stumbled across this quaint little cafe in the busy town of Newport. When we walked in we were greeted by smiling faces and some rather delicious scents coming from the kitchen! We sat down and we’re given quite a vast menu. I wasn’t sure what to have but wanted something more than a boring sandwich! I opted for the Warm Goats cheese salad with a side of bread and a glass of white wine. (Yes, I was feeling a little boujee that afternoon) When my food arrived I couldn’t wait to dive in! The goats cheese was perfectly warmed through, and sitting on a pile of fresh salad and homemade coleslaw. Surrounded by juicy warmed tomatoes that were simply delicious. Finished with a little balsamic and olive oil, it was a decadent lunch delight. The portion was plentiful and I couldn’t stop eating it to be honest. I know Goats Cheese is a bit of a Marmite ingredient, but you must try this dish! I was glad I had ordered a little bread as it was rather scrummy to mop up the juices from the tomatoes that had mixed with a little goats cheese! All washed down with a crisp, ice cold white wine, this lunch pretty gorgeous if I’m honest. The George Clooney of the cafe world in Newport, I would recommend!

Sat and waited an hour for food. When it eventually arrived there was packaging in it. When I took it back to complain I was told it was nothing to do with them effectively accusing me of planting it. I also complained that my sons wrap was cold and not hot. The chef came out and said it was hot (so my son is a lier?) Implied I was being silly for returning my food. Apparently we waited so long because they were busy (no they were not) dreadful service there are much better places to spend my money. Only given it one circle because it won't let me do none.

Wow! AMAZING full english breakfast! What a discovery -- Blue Door redeemed Newport for us (which really has very little in the way of the dining scene). We abandoned our B&B breakfasts and happened upon the Blue Door. The service is so friendly, there was plenty of outside seating (and social distancing) and the food was just fantastic. The staff kindly made us baguettes to take along for a day-long walk and these were also just fantastic - best prawn baguette I have had in years. The breakfast alone makes Blue Door Cafe a destination -- no matter where you are staying on the island.

The Blue Door is doing an exceedingly good job given its customers have to sit outside..in the typical English summertime. Its scones are outstanding, up to Scottish standards , light as a feather. Generous helpings of cream and jam, though I wish the jam had been up to the standard of the scones, which it wasn’t, quite. I think I came at the end of the day and once is not enough for a statistically sound appraisal so I shall just have to try it again..and again.. All customers looked happy, the service was good and cheerful. Range of ages and types of customer being made happy.

I have been an island resident for a while now decided to stop off for lunch at the blue door, but of a mistake, the staff where pleasant enough of a little slow on service but if you’re expected to pay £7.95 for salmon and scrambled eggs on toast, you expect proper scrambled eggs and buttered toast. The eggs where definitely microwaved, dry and completely unseasoned and the toast was just a dry slice of toasted bread I wouldn’t return to high is a shame as I want the local businesses to succeed.

Brilliant service from the Blue Door. We got there when they were literally closing and they offered to switch on their kettles to give us hot, very soothing, drinks. We sat on the bench outside and they brought the hot drinks to us and they let us sip on them before asking for payment. There was no fear that we might make a run for it. It was refreshing to enjoy customer service that is not tainted by preconceived notions based on one's looks. We felt like kings on those wooden benches, sipping really tasty, but hot cups of tea. I had visited here about 4 years ago and had a great experience with their bunny chow. I decided to go back this weekend for something sweet and had a really bad experience. I ordered an iced coffee which turned out they make with instant coffee! To be fair, it tasted ok, but it was quite surprising to see that and certainly makes the price tag they attach to it eyebrow raising. The main issue I had though was the cakes. My dad, my husband and I all ordered different cakes and all of us had exactly the same reaction - "this is way to sweet!" All you can taste is sugar. It completely tool away from the enjoyment of having a sweet treat. My husband just about managed to eat his carrot cake, but with little enjoyment, my dad commented that it felt like he was just scooping sugar into his mouth with his millionaire shortbread, and I left half of my chocolate brownie behind which is unheard of for me as I love sweet treats. I would never return here again.

Have eaten here a few times when in town - I think it can easily be overlooked despite being so central but is worth a visit. The menu has plenty of variety and the food is fresh and tasty. Staff are friendly too. The only thing is the indoor area is tiny and up a couple of steps - difficult to take a pushchair or wheelchair into and no accessible toilets unfortunately. But if this isn't a problem for you definitely pay a visit!

We arrived just as the cafe opened ... with a challenging range of diets... 2 x Vegetarians and a child with coeliacs ... staff were very helpful, welcoming, chatty and accommodating, excellent menu range and veggie breakfast was amazing... my only regret is we found this lovely cafe on our last day of holiday...NOTE cash only

An excellent "English" breakfast, with a pot of tea plus best toast ever & marmalade, with generous portions, from very friendly & helpful staff. Just what the two of us needed after a very early home start to catch the 8am ferry from Portsmouth & driving to Newport. We sat inside, but there's also tables outside. Its in the town centre, but only 4-minutes walk from the Chapel Street car park, where we charged our Electric Car.

Vegan friendly, hard to decide what to get. Ended up with a spicy butternut squash curry on a jacket potato. Wonderful flavor, left very full and happy.

This cafe is in the middle of Newport town centre and has a huge variety of food on the menu including some options people may not have heard of before.

Thought I would give this restaurant a go Food was okay with the exception of the bacon which had been overlooked and it would have been nice to have a scraping of butter on the toast. Though the biggest irritation was the disturbance by a fellow diner who rearranged the furniture in a small space to accommodate an over sized pram. Could have done without this whilst fellow diners tried to enjoy their breakfasts

Lovely staff especially the owners, great menu.. Lot's of imagination with the presentation of meals (they have a lot of fun experimenting which is what we love the most) . The menu offers plenty of variety. Hits the spot for what you really need.

We came here because of all the good ratings. The coffee was average... The eggs Benedict was strange - sweet "hollandaise" sauce with sugar granules. Maybe it was a bad day?

Ideal centrally located cafe with traditional fare. Delicious coffee, and welcoming to afford the traveller an ideal rest while planning their day. Enjoyed the moment and would revisit. Lovely traditional cafe, clean with a wide menu. The sausage and bacon baguettes looked fabulous.

We try to visit the Blue door on our many trips to the Island, we find it very good for quick snacks especially for my Wife who requires Gluton Free, However our average review on this occasion was because on this occasion we ordered two Jacket Potato`s nice sized potato`s but whilst one was just ok the other had really tough skin which was inedible, gave the impression this one had been re-heated, we will visit again but avoid the jackets and stick to our normal coffee and cake which has always been good.

Just popped in for a quick lunch, had 2 breakfasts, Excellent quality, freshly cooked and a lot better that most breakfasts in newport. Only downside, is it took 30 minutes to cook 2 breakfasts in a quiet cafe, so had to rush eating the food, to get back to the car park.

We needed a quick snack and as we were passing with could hear a lady playing a saxophone and lot of people sat on cute little tables outside so we went in and ordered some baguettes. We were glad there was room outside and our food was soon brought to us. Was very nice and well presented. The facilities inside were also well looked after and clean.

Good service and friendly staff help make this small cafe with a large menu a good choice for lunch. We had the 10oz burger which was very good, tasty and we'll cooked. I had onion rings as there were no fries with it but I think the normal cafe frozen chips would have spoiled it. What it did have was a good roll, salad and some excellent fresh homemade coleslaw. Worth a try if the rest of the menu is as good and the lady on the next table had eggs Benedict which, she said, was very good so I imagine it is.

A very peaceful place to stay, in the centre of Newport, conveniently located, close to the bus station and to restaurants. Charming interiors, with a lot of character. Spacious, comfortable and clean room. Breakfast is served, and freshly prepared after the order is made. Hostess is friendly and Staff polite. We will definitely stay there again!

Stopped for a cream tea which the wife enjoyed. Usual 2 scones provided with jam and clotted cream and a good pot of tea. They normally do Gluten Free cream tea but due to high demand had sold out of GF scones. They were however able to supply GF cheese scones so I had a savoury version of cream tea, 2 GF cheese scones, a tomato chutney and a cream cheese. Was very nice and would recommend.

Nice staff, reasonable price and we love a bit of cash preferred! Good doughnuts and hot chocolate perfect from when you come out the sea!
