The best restaurants in Canterbury South East

I visit Herne bay about five times a year. I used to go playing the Amusements in neptunes and used to eat lovely fish and chips there. They used to be free because I played the machines. When it closed I tried deans place as the chef worked there after neptunes closed. The fish was still nice.. Fast forward years and the fish portions seemed smaller. The last few times including this one the fish batter is softer. Fish was smaller and not as tasty This time granddaughter saveloy was hard. Not like a saveloy taste imo. My fish was small slimy texture and soft batter insipid flavour and chips looked anaemically white. Nothing special to taste . . My wife's wasn't too bad but at nearly fifteen pounds each i won't ever go again.

The fish was the worst we have ever eaten we only payed for 1 fish and chips But the. Price for 1fish and chips and 2 teas was OK if the. Fish was OK Both fish were left .. There was a bouncer (dressed casually) that told me that I wasn’t allowed to be seen with a drink in the queue, I then proceeded to throw my drink in the bin. I got stopped before I got inside and the same ‘bouncer’ stopped me and said I wasn’t allowed in as he apparently saw me ‘chug’ (in his words) my drink in the queue when he told me I wasn’t allowed to be seen with a drink, I find this place an absolute disgrace and would not recommend it to anyone.

Called in for a coffee on a very wet morning. The staff member was very friendly and welcoming and quick to serve our drinks. These were up to the usual good Costa standard. Would certainly call in again.

Great location in a quiet village with garden, traditional pub food of high quality and reasonable price in an atmospheric old inn. Friendly staff. We've been a number of times over the years and it is our favourite. Only one bad experience when it was leased over a year or so ago.

Nice and simple hotel in a prime location. Pub is busy but the staff are still accommodating, and they drew me this excellent T Rex picture. Very impressive!

the food was cold and looked like they had taken it off someone's plate, we also ordered 4 poppadoms and only received 4, they refused to send out the other three, let alone offer a few more as apologising. DONT BUY.!

Went with a friend as I had a Gift Voucher. Welcome was very good. After placing our order, we asked for Tap Water and never got it. Also food when ready seemed to sit for a while before being served. Plates were not cleared until next course was delivered. On getting the bill I was charged full price for Cocktails instead of special menu price but on querying it was then amended

Beautiful place, friendly people, good staff and great food The manager, Ronia, is excellent. We will definitely be back 🌹🌹🌹
