Popped in to watch the football with my Daughter. Nice friendly atmosphere the beer was good. Plenty of parking at the front of the pub. Good old school pub.

Visited as a group of 4 adults for a roast dinner. Dogs are allowed in the bar but not the restaurant so we ate in the garden, which was lovely, then went into the bar to watch football. Friendly staff, nice old fashioned pub, locals were friendly too (unlike some pubs with regulars who stare at you!). Food was good value £12.95 for a roast dinner, good portion and a proper home cooked traditional roast dinner.

As a lifelong resident of Whitstable, I never expected to experience such a terrifying and demeaning situation in my hometown. After an exhausting 17-hour round trip to London, I returned home completely drained, in severe pain due to Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, and with a dead phone. Desperate and with my knees locking up, I reluctantly entered a pub despite my severe anxiety about such places. Initially, the bartender was polite and helpful. He pointed me to the toilet when I asked and later directed me to a plug socket when I nervously inquired about charging my phone. I appreciated his assistance at that moment, especially as I struggled with my anxiety. However, things quickly took a dark turn. The only other customer at the bar began mocking and belittling me for asking about the plug sockets, treating me as if I were an idiot. I tried to explain that I was not speaking to him but to the bartender, but his condescending attitude made the situation even worse. The man’s hostility didn’t stop there. He began verbally attacking me, calling me rude, despite the fact that I was only speaking to the bartender. Then, to my shock, he went outside and gathered a group of older men, who I assume are regulars at the pub. They all seemed drunk and eager to intimidate a 19-year-old just trying to charge his phone. They surrounded me, aggressively demanding to know what race I was and where I lived, which made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unsafe. One of them even threatened to hurt me while the others shouted for me to "get the f*** out." At this point, I felt completely trapped and terrified, but the bartender, who had initially been helpful, was nowhere to be seen. He disappeared when I needed him most, leaving me to face this group of aggressive, intoxicated men on my own. I was scared for my safety and only managed to escape when one of the group reluctantly suggested I leave before things got worse. This was one of the most frightening and humiliating experiences of my life. I went in simply to charge my phone so I could call for help, but instead, I was met with open hostility, intimidation, and a complete lack of support from the staff when things escalated. If you value your safety, avoid this pub at all costs. While the bartender might be polite at first, you could be left on your own if things turn hostile. The environment is highly unwelcoming and unsafe, and I hope this incident is investigated further to prevent similar experiences for others.

The Two Brewers in Whitstable is the town's oldest surviving pub, originally two farm cottages dating back to around 1500. These cottages were converted into an inn by 1690. The pub has a long-standing history as a community hub, offering various traditional pub activities and hosting live music events regularly. Additionally, it has adapted over the years to include modern amenities like a beer garden, sports screenings, and free Wi-Fi while preserving its historic charm. The staff are friendly and offer a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The pub features a variety of great ales, making it a popular spot for beer enthusiasts. It is also dog-friendly... 🐕 welcoming canine companions in both the indoor and outdoor areas. The large beer garden provides a pleasant setting for visitors to enjoy a drink with your pet.

On holiday in Whitstable and spotted this pub, which is just out of the town centre, and because it looked lovely from the outside, we thought we would pop in for a drink. The pub and gardens are well maintained, and the bar staff were polite, however, the pub has a strange atmosphere - we did not feel welcome, which wasn't helped with locals standing right outside the door blocking entrance/exit. Also, children are not permitted in the garden - v. strange! Worse of all, however, I had seen another online review that mentioned they had overheard racist comments, which was refuted and dismissed by the owners as malicious, however, I can categorically state that I heard someone at the bar use the "n" word 3 times - beyond shocking!!!

One of the last of a dying breed. A proper pub. If you want fake character, the smell of old cooked fish and craft ales that smell like feet and taste similar, you need to walk further into whitstable where the old traditional pubs have been given the tourist treatment by the respective owners and breweries in an attempt to polsih a turd and fleece money from tourists who have to visit whitstable because Instagram says they simply have to. If however, you want a game of darts, pool, the ability to choose what music you want to listen to on a comprehensive Juke Box all the while enjoying your reasonably priced pint of premium Larger, then this is the place. Good food, welcoming staff, amazing garden, especially in summer. The traditional Kentish game of bat and trap, ample parking and Sky and BT sports for the footy. It's a nice pub, not a night club, but if you want a traditional and very proper British pub experience where you can experience all of the above, then this is the place to visit in Whitstable.

I'm rating this pub as I like the name. My wife and I didn't actually go in, we stopped to do a birthday video for a friend by the sign. But this tracking system called Google wants a rating. So, as I spoke to a seemingly very happy customer outside I'll say amazing.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. The landlord was the rudest person I’ve had the displeasure of meeting. He’s clearly a very insecure man who uses aggression as a defence mechanism. I strongly recommend that you DON’T pay a visit to this pub; while the general atmosphere is nice, it certainly is not worth the underserved and overreactive abuse of a small, sweaty man who should not be allowed to own a hovel let alone a pub.

So we all know these are strange times at the moment, so I can accept the 3 different pints of real ale served that had all turned, what I cannot accept though is rudeness to customers. I witnessed (I am assuming) the landlady shouting very abruptly at various customers throughout the evening. Too many people in certain areas, standing to close to the bar etc. Yes thes are things everyone should be abiding by at the moment however the manner at which people were reminded of this was uncalled for. This left the atomsphere as sour as the beer

Beware! They have employed a very aggressive private firm to police their car park. It is not pay and display and it is easy to miss that registration inside the pub is now necessary. I have been going there off and on for years when no registration was required but the last time it cost me £100 because I did not see the new system. The company demanding the money were implacable. That was for 20 minutes of parking. Pretty hefty for a cup of coffee on the way to the Canterbury Hospice. I will never go to the Old Gate again, that is certain.
