Fantastic little, authentic pub nestled among shops in Canterbury, GB. Loved spotting familiar license plates on the walls and the server was terrifically accommodating offering to snap photos of us. If you're looking for a true British pub experience, this is the perfect spot! The fish and chips were extremely tempting, but opted for Thai that did not disappoint.

We came here on Sunday the 1st December for lunch . Myself and my partner both had the mixed grill . Kudos to the chef for cooking me the most amazing well done steak . It was tender ,juicy and cooked to perfection. I rarely find a chef who knows how to cook steak well done, without turning it into shoe leather or just burning it . The Oyster bed could do well to learn from the chef at the Wheatsheaf as last time we ate there they annihilated my steak . My partner likes his steak rare and was equally as happy with it. The Wheatsheaf is a friendly pub ,where nothing is too much trouble for their customers. Second time we have eaten here and will return again on our next holiday. 10/10

We heard about the Royal Oak and decided to give it a try. We received a really warm welcome from the staff. The drinks are a very reasonable price too. The menu offered a large selection of dishes. We opted for the three course small plate home made steak and ale pie. The pate starter was very tasty. Even offered gluten free bread which was delicious. Ice cream finished the meal. A very reasonably priced meal but the important thing was that the food was delicious and we really enjoyed it. Will try the whitebait starter next time. Can’t wait.

Absolutely amazing place to eat with the loveliest staff, The most wonderful Father’s Day meal here today, the roast dinner has got to be one of, if not the best roast we’ve had. Portion sizes were generous, the creamiest tastiest cauliflower cheese, and the honeycomb cheesecake is something that will make us come back on its own! 5 stars from us- a happy (very full) family!

I have eaten here a number of times now. The burger and chicken is all Ok but the pizza is really good, especially considering the value. It's made fresh on site and cooked in front of you so you know it's solid.

Playing a Mystery game with my daughter and the final of the game was in this pub, which was nice. Proper old fashioned pub, nice fire on the go where we sat. Just had a couple of drinks and a bowl of chips, which were very nice. Staff were really nice - when I asked the bar girl if we could walk around looking for the last clue, she said yes but wasn't going to tell me where it was! Toilets were good too. Definitely one to go back too.

I’ve previously reviewed and rated highly the Hotel Continental in Whitstable. This time we used their restaurant and bar. It was excellent - terrific local oysters, burrata, a ploughman’s smoked salmon and moules marinières. With a bottle of Cortefresia Pinot Grigio and two glasses of red, the bill came to £142.45 for three. Being fogeys, we could have done without the live music, which they occasionally feature. But other people seemed to enjoy it.
