This is an excellent pub with outstanding food. Whether you want just a drink or a meal this is the place to come. The food was equivalent to some of the nicest London restaurants I’ve been too at a fraction of the price, all without losing the ambiance of a traditional pub. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

If you want a classic English pub with amazing food and great atmosphere. This place is for you. I only wish I was staying longer so I could have more from the menu I had the Wild Boar Raviolini from the specials menu and the double stout sticky toffee pudding and just loved them both. I also had the assistance of the staff to try the local pale ale that was so yum I had to have another. If you are visiting Canterbury put this on you must visit list.

Absolutely beautiful pub with the manager,Francis, a delight to talk to and making us feel so very welcome and at home. We spent a lovely evening there, so much so that we returned the following day for lunch in the quiet and sunny garden. The fish and chips were gorgeous and the sticky toffee to die for. Free WiFi is good and the pub itself is so quaint and comfortable. Thanks Francis for all your help and a lovely time on our break away.

Well as an Irish Man living local for almost 12 years this was my first visit, the wife’s had many before being a local girl! The food the service and the local drinks make it well worth a visit!

Mal wieder zum Sunday Roast ins Parrot. Es ist immer noch lecker, aber anders, als ich es kannte. Den leckeren vegetarischen Nut Roast gibt es so nicht mehr - es ist eher eine weiche Frikadelle mit Möhren, Rosinen usw., Geschmacksrichtung marokkanisch - schmeckte gut, aber nicht das, was ich nach dem letzten Besuch erwartet hatte. Trotzdem würde ich den Sunday Roast wieder hier essen! Der Pub ist einen Besuch allemal wert. Ein altes Schankhaus, was es schon seit dem Mittelalter gibt - da muss man unbedingt mal einkehren, finde ich. Es gibt auch eine schöne Auswahl an Cider.

We came for dinner on Friday after a busy day. My partner chose fish and chips and I wild boar ravioloni, both beautifully cooked and the raviolini sauce was gorgeous. And the service was great - warm, friendly and efficient. Nice wine too! Perfect!

Went solo dining for dinner on what turned out to be a quiet evening in the pub. Food was OK - very 'vanilla' pub grub - nothing special but nothing horrendous either. Beer was OK - service a little quick, but friendly - I appreciate there wasn't anyone else to serve but I didn't need to feel so rushed. Pub itself was really interesting - been here a couple of times now and I'd imagine on a busy Summer evening it has a great vibe.

Picked this ancient building to meet with my best friend as she is “a Tudor” for her job, educating school children. Beautiful, peaceful setting yet near to the centre of Canterbury. Lovely welcome from Jack and nice refectory-style table for the four of us. Nice Shiraz and Whitstable Bay beer. Lovely food - lemon/thyme chicken, herbed potatoes and perfectly cooked mange-tout and green beans. Husband had a generous large cod and chips. Friend had a smashing chicken Caesar burger and her husband had crab linguine. Very tasty and the pub felt serene and cool on a hot evening. Lovely tiny courtyard garden and a few tables outside too. Puddings were yum! Sticky toffee pudding and creme anglaise (in a olde worlde place like this it should really be called custard!) and I had the best ever cheesecake - strawberry and clotted cream and it really, really did taste like clotted cream. Francis was a lovely host/waiter - can’t wait to go back a really beautiful restful place hidden away but minutes from the centre. Thank you for lovely food and a lovely evening.

Enjoyable Sunday lunch. Roast potatoes were fluffy, and the gammon was the highlight. My partner also enjoyed the vegan option. Very quick service too.

One of my favourite pastimes....Sunday lunch at The Parrot. Even though there is a scaled down lunch menu, alongside the full main menu, due to Covid restrictions it didn't detract the experience. My roast beef was succulent and tender, the roast potatoes crisp & fluffy inside, light Yorkshire puddings accompanied by lovely fresh vegetables including cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, greens and a butternut squash/ sweet potato puree. Service is always excellent- efficient, friendly & welcoming whilst ensuring all covid protocols are followed. Not the weather for al fresco dining, but the garden is a welcome outdoor space when the sun is shining.

Had a 5 o'clock sitting on Sunday, primarily to have a roast. Read good reviews. Nice venue. On looking at the menu, partner chose roast beef and I opted for the beef and ale pie. Both were very nice, good portions, and good selection of vegetables with the roast, well presented and very tasty. Would highly recommend the pie.

Went there for drinks on a Saturday afternoon. Staff were really friendly and attentive, observing all the COVID safe rules. Food was delicious, drinks were great and the staff ensured our glasses were never empty for long. Will be back soon.

A really good meal isn’t just about the food. The whole experience here was great, from the friendly reception and service given by the Manager and Deputy Manager to the lovely surroundings of this old pub. Oh, the food was superb as well, so compliments to the chef. My wife and I had a late afternoon lunch here. She had the Poke Bowl with pan fried chicken and I had Lemon & Thyme chicken supreme.Both were so good we had to linger for the Eaton Mess Cheesecake. That didn’t disappoint either. Well done to all at the Parrot!

Visited for the first time in many years. So impressed with the front of house team, engaging, attentive and great service, a credit to the establishment.From a covid perspective- excellent! The team adhered to covid rules making you feel safe as well as explaining what the customer should do from the outset. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

Reservado para el almuerzo el 11 de octubre. . 20 minutos antes. No hay problemas. Subiendo las escaleras, todo realmente limpio, ordenado y amigable con Covid. Personal realmente en la pelota. . orden de bebidas y comida dentro de los 10 minutos posteriores al pedido. Puedo decirles que era simplemente encantador y el pudín de caramelo pegajoso era 5 *. Es una pena que no vivamos más cerca, de lo contrario estaríamos seguros de regresar. Solo te estoy contando cómo lo encontramos. . . brillante. Bien hecho el personal.

Lovely building, great service but food was less than average. Supermarket pie, microwave mash & dishwater gravy, veg was obviously fresh though. The gravy literally was the consistency of water but brown. Thank goodness it was cheap.

Tenía grandes expectativas de nuestra comida el lunes festivo (último día del "comer fuera para ayudar") que, lamentablemente, se desvanecieron.La bienvenida inicial y el servicio al cliente fue bueno. Pedimos 2 x schnitzels 1 x hamburguesa, 1 x falafel vegano y 1 x tortellini. El tortellini estaba sabroso pero pequeño, el "poke" vegano era suave y los escalopes eran duros. También nos sirvieron 4 comidas y luego esperamos unos buenos 10 minutos para que apareciera la comida final. Recibimos una disculpa por el retraso, pero tuvimos que comenzar porque nuestras comidas se estaban enfriando. Llevábamos dos tercios antes de que llegara la comida final. Pensé que podrían ofrecer un postre gratis o algo para disculparme, pero no me ofrecieron nada. 4 postres de pudín de caramelo pegajoso estaban sabrosos, pero no compensaron nuestra comida ya cansada.Me sentí incómodo al discutir el costo ya que, por supuesto, teníamos 50 de descuento de todos modos y sé muy bien que los restaurantes lo están pasando mal. No quería parecer ingrato, pero no sentí que recibiéramos una buena experiencia. Yo no volvería.

Tres de nosotros tuvimos una comida maravillosa el jueves pasado por la noche en el hermoso jardín de este fascinante edificio histórico. Francis es un propietario fantástico: hospitalario, acogedor y profesional. Su joven personal fue encantador con nosotros nos hizo sentir que estaban felices de cuidarnos y querían que disfrutáramos de nuestra comida. Lo más destacado incluyó hermosos calamares crujientes espolvoreados con sal y pimienta en una masa maravillosamente ligera y crujiente, deliciosos hongos del bosque salteados sobre tostadas y una estupenda ensalada de cangrejo fresco (en el menú especial de la noche). Lamentablemente para nosotros no pudimos manejar ningún pudín. . . ¡la próxima vez haremos todo lo posible para abordar también las opciones de postre! También recomendaríamos The Parrot para tomar una copa (excelente vino por copa) y realmente le deseamos a Francis y a todo el equipo el horario reservado que se merecen, gracias por todo lo que están haciendo para que la experiencia de salir a comer Bebo seguro y alegre. ¡Ojalá tuviéramos un pub tan fabuloso y bien dirigido cerca de nosotros en Londres!

This pub has it all! A great atmosphere, brilliant management and lovely food. COVID safety is recognised here and the staff make you feel very safe. I would thoroughly recommend.

Visited at 7pm on a weekday night and got seated in the garden as requested which was a bonus! Had such a lovely meal and the staff were all attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend for an evening meal. Thank you.

Gran edificio, lleno de carácter y que sirve comida excelente. Llamé con anticipación para reservar una mesa, ya que tienen espacio limitado por dentro y por fuera, pero afortunadamente lograron conseguir una mesa. Toda la comida estaba caliente, sabrosa y bien presentada y también a un precio razonable.

Lovely pub for a drink outside on a warm evening. Tasty loaded chips, hot and plenty of interesting ingredients added. Good selection of wines and a lovely atmosphere. Staff friendly and helpful and good COVID restrictions in place. I lost a cardigan and they kindly kept it aside for me and let me collect the next day. We will be back!

Great experience. Food was exceptional and well priced for the quality. If they still have it as a ‘special’ I would recommend the sea bass with chorizo cream sauce and potatoes. Staff were very pleasant and observed all ‘rules’ for social distancing. Have a good child menu too.Even though Canterbury is very quiet, I’d advise to book up in advance to reserve a table.

All the staff were so sweet and attentive. The food came quick and was unbelievably good and the atmosphere was just great in general.

Yay! The Parrot is back on form, great warm welcome, okay a limited menu but I enjoyed the squid then the steak. In these strange times it’s good to see clear signage and sanitisers. I felt my safety was respected.I ate in the reconfigured courtyard and the COVID-19 precautions were good, reassuring without being militaristic.The squid starter was at just at the right tasty chewiness, definitely not over cooked.I had been dreaming about eating a good steak and this did not disappoint. Great flavour, cooked and presented just as I like it. The accompanying chips were crisp outside and fluffy inside. Mushroom and onions were tasty.I was in an expansive mood and wanted a desert but hey! Shepherd Neame the only non nut desert was bread and butter pud. Really? In summer? No sorbets?So in summary I was pleased to see the Parrot back on form after lockdown.

Met wit a group of friends recently in the Parrot. It was a Tuesday evening so pretty quiet. Staff were friendly, overall atmosphere was ok, but food overall was disappointing...tasted like everything was frozen then microwaved, portions were small, fish and chips probably represented the best value. Will not return, Wetherspoon's quality at twice the price. Sad really.

El pub era tranquilo, el personal era agradable y un ambiente relajado, pero esto fue destrozado por un grupo de jóvenes ruidosos y problemáticos que se acercaron y se sentaron cerca de nosotros, antes de sacar sus propias bebidas y bocadillos, ¡no se ordenó una bebida entre ellos! Tres negros, una blanca y un larguirucho de Londres, supuestamente "estudiantes". Pasaron cinco minutos y luego diez mientras se desangraban y cegaban, tocando sus teléfonos ruidosamente. Fueron vigilados por personal que no hizo nada, a pesar de ser un supuesto pub gastronómico con clientes que PAGAN. Nos quejamos, pero decidimos irnos ya que todavía no fueron expulsados. No volveré

Me and my wife were gifted a meal at The Parrot for our wedding and it did not disappoint. We both had soup for starters which was wonderful and the sour dough bread went so well with the soup.For mains we had burgers which were brilliant. Nice thick chips too. My wife had the cheesecake for pudding and I had the sweet platter. Both were exceptional.Would 100% recommend going here whether it be for lunch or dinner. Will certainly be going back.

We had been wanting to go here for quite some time and were not disappointed. This is an old building which stands on the grounds of one of the oldest buildings in Canterbury.The food is wonderful and you have a choice of vegan and normal but all is good. The pub though has been done well and kept really traditional and you can see the building and how historic it is. The outside courtyard will be brilliant in the summer and the upstairs has a great function room. Lovely building you have to see it.

Au cœur d'un des plus vieil immeuble de la ville, vous entrerez dans un vrai pub avec un service aux petits soins.Large choix de bière, le serveur m'en fait goûter plusieurs pour que je découvre et choisisse la bonne.Ma femme choisi la pie beef ale (tarte au bœuf) et moi j'opte pour un classique Rump steack Dryag.Les enfants eux ont droit aux Kids meatball.Tout le monde s'est régalé dans une ambiance purement anglaise.

As a local resident I visit The Parrot weekly - not always to eat - but make no apology for writing another review! Over the festive period we ate Sunday lunch with friends and lunch on New Year’s Day just as a couple. Sunday lunch was as good as always...we all ordered roast lamb which was very tender and well supported by plenty of veg, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, gravy and mint sauce. Today’s lunch of herbed chicken and beef & onion pie was equally good....especially the veg, mange touts/ French beans and carrots perfectly cooked - still with a bite but thankfully not reduced to mush!!Despite being really busy both days ( we had booked ) the service was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Lots of visitors to the city over the Christmas period whom the staff tried hard to accommodate but my best advice for those coming to the city is to do some research & book in advance if you don’t want to be disappointed.

On our last day of vacation in England, we came to Canterbury to visit the cathedral. When we were done strolling, it was close to dinner time and it would be too late to eat by the time we drove back to London.Using the Tripadvisor mobile app, we chose to eat at The Parrot and we're glad we did. The atmosphere was lovely in this old pub, and we enjoyed eating here along with the locals. The staff was very friendly, the food was very good and the prices fair. The fish and chips was excellent and so was the meat pie our friend ordered. There are plenty of places to dine in Canterbury, but The Parrot was very enjoyable and we'd visit again next time we're visiting in town.

I've passed this lovely place several times but actually had time to call in today. Greeted warmly. A fair choice of meals on the menu and fair prices also. Highly recommend the chicken burger.

Lovely atmosphere and old pub... shame the chef.. putting raw veg in a plate is not cooking . And super arrogant. He think is Gordon Ramsay 😂

We had a good off the cuff Xmas dinner, the staff managed to fit us in amongst the rest of the bookings. The food was good but would note the veg is cooked to the crisper end of the scale, fine for me but those who prefer soft vegetables may want to request this when they order dinner.

The four of us experienced an excellent meal on Wednesday 11th December. We had a table booked for 7.30 pm and was given a table downstairs - the upstairs having a major party for 36 guests. We promptly served with drinks and the waiter was very attentive taking our food orders soon afterwards. I had the large cod and chips delicious batter and very hot while my wife chicken supreme which I had to finish off - the main being so large. Our two guests commented on the burgers which were very good. Excellent service and I fully recommend coming here. Perfect!

Después de un espectáculo en el Marlowe buscamos un pub para cenar. El loro nos recibió con anticipación y estaba esperando una buena cena asada. Pedimos los calamares y el hummus como entrante. Conseguimos unos 6 anillos de calamar, lo que fue un poco malo teniendo en cuenta el precio. Estaban bien El hummus también estaba bien. Un montón de hummus no suficiente pan. Ambos adultos fueron por carne de cerdo. La carne estaba bien, un poco fría. Las verduras estaban bien. Las patatas asadas solo estaban bien. Yorkshires eran basura (aunque casera) En general, deberíamos haber cocinado la nuestra, ya que fue muy decepcionante. Lo que realmente queríamos eran papas deliciosas, crujientes y esponjosas, salsa rica y un gran yorkshire crujiente. No volveré para un domingo asado. El servicio fue excelente. La comida no tanto.

The food was fantastic and the service incredible. Friendly staff and a very welcoming atmosphere. For a spontaneous date with my partner it was the perfect choice of venue. I would definitely return and recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening out.

Opnieuwe streken we neer bij The Parrot om een hapje te eten. Deze historische pub ligt net buiten het drukken centrum van Canterbury, Binnen hangt er een gezellige typisch Engelse sfeer. De bediening was vriendelijk en voorkomend, het eten goed. (beter dan in een gemiddelde pub, maar wel gewoon pub food) Al met al een uitstekende plek om op adem te komen, een lekkere maaltijd te genieten, vergezeld van een goed glas bier.

We were on a college reunion lunch to celebrate our first meeting 40 years ago, so we hired the lovely upstairs private dining room, which was the perfect size for a group of 15 of us. What a gorgeous venue? Vaulted ceiling, a large banqueting table for all of us to sit round and authentic ‘Tudorbethan’ architectural detailing created a real sense of occasion, with a touch of the medieval banquet about it. The 3 course special set menu, whilst not exactly on the scale of a medieval feast, was very tasty and well presented and the service was well paced for a group of people who were delighted to be seeing each other after many years apart and were happy to chat in between courses. The only downside was when it came time to pay and the 15 of us were forced to queue up at the downstairs bar area, along with what seemed like half the population of Canterbury, to explain what we each had and pay one by one, rather than a card machine being available upstairs at our table. Just as well that we were not in a great hurry but it did slightly detract from what had been a most pleasant experience up to that point!

Met up with friends at The Parrot and the wonderful wooden beams and structures created a favourable first impression. Sadly however, the food was something else. All of my three courses were bland in taste. For example my soup and burger lacked flavour and seasoning and my sticky toffee sauce lacked sweetness. Thankfully the great company I had around me tempered the disappointment I felt for the food.

We tried a few pubs in Canterbury during our break and this gastropub was the best. A short walk from the centre it had lots of space, was well decorated, drinks were well presented and food was delicious. I had sea bass with new potatoes which was excellent. Only complaint was that it was all a little expensive

My god where do I start, food not cooked properly, tables grimy, lipstick on glasses , crusty sauce dishes and to top it all there was some idiot called Alan or Aaron who thought he was funny , showing off acting like a complete T**, the staff could only raise their eyebrows in embarrassment , where do Shepherd Neame get these idiots, Unfortunately I was taken here so not my choice.

A good lunch option when visiting this cathedral city. The Parrot is well away from the busy main streets but an easy walk. Sunday roast lunch was good value. Very welcoming and proficient staff.

This pub was recommended by our hotel and we could see why. High quality pub food at a reasonable price - my husband had the cheese & bacon burger and I had the beef steak & ale pie. All made better by being able to sit outside in the courtyard on a beautiful evening.

Vriendelijk ontvangen, vriendelijk geholpen, maar het eten was gemiddeld. We hadden wel gereserveerd. Dat was ook nodig, want het was er druk.

Cracking little pub with a nice garden out the back, which is great when the weather is nice. They serve Whitstable Bay Blonde which is another good reason to visit.

nice to find a pub away from the tourist tack on the main street. lovely setting and a nice clean garden area at the back. one of us ordered a pie which was very nice. i ordered the steak for £18, which was not nice at all. i wanted to like it as everything else was so nice. in the end i had to complain and sent the meal back. the barman could not have been more accommodating (thank you). my replacement meal was lamb which was absolutely delicious and i ate the lot! they organised our taxi home at the end of the night. Lovely pub, and i can't wait to return one day.

We visited here on 08 Sept and had a great Sunday lunch. Would highly recommend The roast beef and lamb was excellent. The service from the staff could not be faulted we will certainly will visit again

We were looking for the oldest pub in the city and that’s how we ended up here. It was clearly refurbished not too long ago but there are certain parts of the building which might be original. Having a nice sunny day we decided to sit outside. Staff was very friendly and polite. Our steaks were perfectly cooked and we tried some local beers. All in all we both enjoyed the whole experience.

Called in for a pint in the nice beer garden and decided to book in for a Saturday evening meal. The 4 different meals we had were all excellent and reasonably priced, add in a good range of drinks and very friendly staff we were glad we stumbled upon this hidden gem just of the kings Mile. Well worth finding.

We had a dinner here because it was recommended by the guy at the info office. He told us Parrot was the oldest pub in Canterbury and good. The place is not close to the center and this is a plus for me as it's not really crowded. The food is average, not exciting. Fish and Chips a little bit too oily and heavy. Be careful when asking water...ask tap water because 1/2 lt bottled water cost more than 3£ (better to take a beer instead for that price).

This place is great - delicious food, plentiful beer, and interesting history! As the oldest pub in Canterbury, they've done a great job keeping it really nice accommodating. The burger is amazing. Be sure to check out the second floor!

Website says food served till 9.00pm on a Sunday. Arrived at 8.40pm to be told we were too late to eat -- might have been a little more bearable if the staff hadn't shown such glee at turning us away. Won't bother returning.

We have visited here a few times and love it! The outside area is very cosy and well shaded in parts (which helped to find a place to cool down and enjoy a pint on a very hot day). Great atmosphere, amazing history (how often do you find a pub that dates back to 1370?!) and food is delicious. Highly recommend!

Went for a meal with family who live in Canterbury. It wasn’t a great start when the waiter brought our drinks and noticed that the blackcurrant soda was flat and went to check if it had been made with water instead of soda. Came back and said it was fine as it had indeed been made with soda, so all ok. Great. It was soda but it’s flat.

Lovely food. But staff issue not busy had to keep getting up if we wanted a drink only cave over once to see if ok was disappointed as the reviews up until the latest one have been good.

Ce pub est semble-t-il installé dans l'une des plus anciennes maison de Canterbury. Le décor est en tout cas rustique à souhait, j'adore totalement! L'accueil en revanche est d'une amabilité toute contemporaine (nous n'avions pas réservé et il restait juste une table que le patron n'aurait pas voulu attribuer car elle était un peu abimée... mais ce n'était qu'un micro détail: quel patron scrupuleux!). Nous y avons savouré des entrées délicieuses et des côtelettes d'agneau vraiment exquises, le tout accompagné d'un petit choix de vins tout aussi estimables. Rien de prétendument gastronomique, mais le plaisir gourmand d'un beau moment d'histoire à recommander chaudement. Le premier étage est encore plus superbe dans son architecture, mais semble-t-il il n'est utilisé que pour des événements spéciaux.

Bon accueil dans le plus vieux immeuble de Canterbury. Excellents vins, je recommande. Soiree medievale possible a l etage. Vins ouvert. Boonaburra shiraz 2016, une vraie delectation

An old pub with hops hanging off the 13th century old dark beams makes an extraordinary evening out for great food and great selection of English gin. Wonderful spot and try the bass - amazing!

Great find able to accommodate our party of 7. Food was decent and beer was good. Our waiter, Ross, was magnificent and had us fed quickly.

We decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary at The Parrot. What a quaint old fashioned place this was. Over 700 years old, great food, superb venue, and first rate friendly staff. Cold beer too!! I was assured that no parrots were harmed in the making of my burger....

Found by accident, claims to be Canterburys oldest public house. Nice interior, friendly staff. Nice selection of local beers, stayed for food and wasn't disappointed. Would seek out again.

We visited this pub on a whim as a group of 6 adults and 2 toddlers yesterday, most of which were visiting from the states. I can honestly say all 8 of us agreed this was the perfect pub. The building is beautiful, the staff so friendly and helpful and the food incredible. Would definitely recommend The Parrot to anyone visiting the area. Thanks so much for a last meal for our group holiday!

Had an absolutely brilliant meal here. Fantastic steak & triple cooked chips cooked beautifully. Good value, friendly staff and a really cosy, candlelight atmosphere in a beautiful old pub. Best meal out for a long time.

We have now been to eat here twice in a matter of weeks. The staff are very friendly, the building is beautiful, the beer is good and the food is probably the best of all the Shepherd Neame pubs. I don't think anyone would be disappointed if they visited.

Great pub, that is until they started a que system. Since when does an English pub put a single line que system to order at a bar? I can honestly say I have never had to que like that in a pub. Venues and stands maybe, not a pub. Disappointing. I left and went to the nearest pub to wait my turn and be served the traditional way.

They claim to date from the 1300’s which could certainly be true judging by the building. Came by for a beer and returned for dinner. Had an excellent meal of steak pie. Just a pleasure to sit here and enjoy the history.

Went to The Parrot for drinks and had a fantastic time. Good service and good beer and wine in an unforgettable location.

We had the BEST server (feel silly for not getting his name!) He was so attentive and had many suggestions. He's learning the beer culture and is able to talk so freely and with so much knowledge about the beer - my husband is a novice brewer so loves chatting all things beer.

Loved this pub ,the oldest in Canterbury ! Friendly staff and lots of memorabilia ,well worth a visit or two ,great food and beer ,definitely visit again

We had dinner on a quiet Monday evening. The beer, the wine and the food (ingredient quality and preparation) were all excellent. Very friendly people serving us in a lovely old inn. Highly recommended!

La habitación de arriba es un hermoso entorno medieval y la comida fue excelente y todos nuestros huéspedes la disfrutaron. El personal era amable y eficiente y se aseguró de que todo en la noche era perfecto. Nada era demasiado problema. Sin duda recomendaría el lugar y la comida. Nuestro agradecimiento al chef, los camareros y el gerente de servicio, todos nos hicieron sentir bienvenidos y relajados.

Since losing their surly bartender the Parrot has become a lot better for drinks. So we decided to visit for a Sunday roast a couple of weekends back.

Having returned to the Parrot as the previous night was fully booked, we could easily understand why it was in such high demand. A cosy and comfortable setting with generous portions of faultless food. Good selection of local ales and good service from the staff.

The Parrot is a delightful, historic pub in an attractive part of Canterbury - great atmosphere and nice staff. Beer is excellent. The pub food is normally good but tonight I ordered steak - a mistake! It’s a good place for conventional pub food but the steak was really tough and is best avoided. Great chips though!

Lovely old pub with oak beams. Went for a meal with friends had tzatiki and houmous with pitta bread, then cod and chips chicken breast and burger. All nicely presented and piping hot! Had the poached pear for desert yummy! We even had sparkling wine on the house as it was a birthday celebration which was a nice touch!

Un locale antico e pittoresco, mazzi di luppolo secco appesi al soffitto, travatura in legno bassa e un grosso camino fanno da cornice al cibo ottimo, cucinato secondo la tradizione inglese. Abbiamo preso l'agnello con purea di patate e piselli e verdure miste. Ottimo. Abbiamo concluso con due dolci tradizionali. Deliziosi. Il tutto accompagnato da un'ampia selezione di birre. Meraviglioso.

Nice building and nice staff but we regularly come here for food and to relax but this time it was not up to the usual high standards, pork and chicken were overdone and ruined the dishes, hoping it's a rare occasion.

If you love old pubs, you must visit The Parrot! It was established in the 14th century and built on Roman ruins. We were there for lunch in March on a weekday, so the upstairs was not open, but went up to see it anyway - it's a beautiful old room! The food was excellent, great beers and cider, and very friendly service! This place has so much character, history, good food and service, it is a must for any Canterbury visit!

It's a lovely old pub with plenty of history. Decor and ambience is great with old beams, wooden floors and festooned with dried hops. Very friendly and efficient staff. No TV, no slot machines, just relaxed ambience. Great selection of local beers - esp Whitstable Bay Pale Ale. V good wine at reasonable prices. My slow-cooked pork was superb and a v generous helping. Liz had the smoked haddock which was fantastic. Overall, a great meal at very reasonable price.

Lovely Saturday supper with family in beautiful old building. Several of our party had the lamb loin with Mediterranean veg. The smoked haddock and the burgers were also well done. A good choice of beers, I had the whitstable bay. The desserts were all lovely. Choc meringue with cherry compote and honeycomb ice cream was gorgeous. Lovely service and a good cosy place on a wet night.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here in this wonderful pub/restaurant with friends.
