Service was very good for Sunday lunch, but it was quiet and steady, very attentive and definitely a family run pub with the children helping out. Roast was good and value for money. They have really improved the old section of the pub, but make sure that fire is on as it can get cold in the winter.
We ate here in March on a Saturday at lunch time, we got there about 12.30, there were already quite a few people seated, and many more came in after us.
On the specials board were tempura prawns for starter which I had, hubby had calamari, both were nice and tasty.
Mains were paella for my hubby, he loves paella but can not have it as mostly for 2 people, he loved it and was managed a marmalade steam pudding with custard for dessert, he said it was very light and delicious,I had the fillet steak, which I had asked to be cooked medium, but unfortunately was well done, hence I dropped a star.
Friendly owner, good parking and reasonably priced

The nigiri sushi in the sushi set for 2 tastes good, and the salmon avocado roll is also delicious. My daughter likes salmon nigiri sushi very much, so I ordered an extra portion of salmon lovers. My daughter also likes curry rice. The miso soup is sweet and fresh. The children are very satisfied after eating it.
Under the previous owners from Essex this pub was amazing after the revamp, the food and atmosphere was fantastic and they got better clientele in. I've been back since under new ownership and the place is disgusting and full of drinks and louts that have ruined what was a lovely pub. I wouldn't set foot inside here again as it's full of drug taking lager louts who will ruin the expensive revamped decor. When I visited for a drink there was lads waiting to get in the toilet to have a sniff! Avoid!!

Very nice rooms. Only in room 6 there is some regular humming from a cooler. This went on all night, but once I fell asleep it was not disturbed.
Delicious breakfast.
we'd walked past several times from the car park to the city centre and this time thought we'd try it for lunch. There's a courtyard out back for nice days and we enjoyed simple toasties and coffee. It was quite busy but the service was Ok and friendly enough. Perfectly fine.
it was a lovely day and we were struggling to find somewhere with enough seating and so were lucky here. Our food was fine, didn't take too long and we were served by friendly people. there is a small garden out back but not enough shade for us so we stayed inside. All good.

Had a late breakfast here and it was outstanding. Very generous full English and eggs Benedict. The homemade beans and hash browns elevated the meal. The wait staff were lovely and very polite. The decor was pretty. I would definitely recommend.
