Mister Miyagi's Sushi in Canterbury

Not enough staff, so service was slow but the server was so friendly and helpful with questions. Food was okay. The vege sushi was a bit undercooked, but the flavours were good. The miso soup was really good, had fried and silken tofu.

Just had lunch here with my hubby. We had the sushi sharing platter with an extra order of sashimi. It was absolutely perfect. I would have preferred loose leaf green tea to the weaker tea bag stuff, but really that's just nit-picking. We'll definitely be back!

Very slow service. Food was good when it arrived but that took nearly an hour while it was quiet.

Worthy to try Professional cuisine

Look past the pop culture name, this sushi spot serves legit food and has great service and quality ingredients. A surprising find in land-locked Canterbury far from the sourcing of any of the fish.

Food is excellent at a reasonable price. Staff are friendly and generally a nice chill place to enjoy a meal.

Delicious sushi and rolls, expertly prepared with quality ingredients. We chose the Sushi Platter to share, which is selected by the Chef, and were very impressed by the range, as well as the freshness of the fish, everything was spot on. Gyoza were excellent too, great skin and filling, and cooked perfectly. Followed up with the Salmon Crunch roll, which is piled high with crispy garlic. Stem Ginger and Cinnamon ice creams to follow. Background music was the OST from various Studio Ghibli movies, a nice touch. Service is discreet and professional. Highly Recommended.

A cute restaurant in the centre of town. Fast service, delicious food, reasonable prices. Would recommend.

If it is late and you are not going to serve your client well, it is better to not accept them and close for the night.

The only issue is that they don't have alcohol free soya sauce.

Really good lunch, we came back for more the second day of our weekend visit. Somehow had a very calm atmosphere even when completely full, including lots of children, and just one waitress managing all the tables. Four stars for service because although she was brilliant and calm I felt she could have done with some back up.

Really helpful staff. Really delicious sushi. Unfussy and uncomplicated. Gyoza is also exceptional. Tonight I had the Unagi and it was the best sushi I've ever tasted. Take away service is quick and convenient. Their systems make the process extremely easy.

Really enjoyed our sushi for 3 with green tea and edemame beans.

Bit disappointed, please do not expect top notch sushi....it was ok, average at best. Staff were lovely and eager to please, just food quality wasnt as good as i was expecting.

The food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were really welcoming and attentive. The only reason we spent so much is because we probably ate our body weight in sushi! 100% recommended!

The best sushi restaurant in Kent without question. Good sushi is hard to find in the UK, but Mr Miyagi delivers an experience akin to that in Tokyo. The restaurant isn't large so call ahead for busy times, although this smaller size compliments a relaxing atmosphere. Staff are friendly and welcoming. I would love to see tempura on the menu, but that's about the only thing I could suggest to this fantastic establishment.

First things first, the food is great. However the service isn’t. We ordered 2 mains and 2 miso soup. I asked for them to all come together and they said no we can’t do that? Never been told that before in any restaurant I’ve been anywhere in the world. Soup was nearly cold by the time our mains arrived. Table next to us wanted to pay a tip by card and they said no, only cash. First time I’ve had strange service like this anywhere.

Very cosy little restaurant, the food is very fairly priced and the food very nice. The fish is beautiful and tasted fresh. Overall a very nice simple sushi experience with great food and fair price 🙌🏻

The food takes a long time to arrive

Had the eel sushi it was bomb, lovely service and absolutely lovely sushi. Can’t find this sorta eel anywhere else they hook us up with that good good. If I could give 6 stars I would. Big up

Quality food but something is off. First thing first, I was worried when the miso soup came with the huge stainless spoon. My friends said it tasted alright though. As for the sushi bowls, while the fish was fresh and plump, the portion was super small, even comparing with Japanese restaurants in London. It’s only about one third of market average. I left still hungry. There was no normal salad option other than the sweet seaweed salad. Ordinary seaweed salad, like the ones in supermarkets and fast food chains.

Great food, especially the scallop sushi. Was really fresh even during dinner time. We ate a little bit on the pricey side and it totalled to £60+ after ordering 2 mains, 3 sushi and the rest sashimi. Highly recommend!

The sushi was nice, although not sure it was made to order as it came very quickly. The hot dishes, we weren't impressed with. Would go again, but only for the sushi.

Bueno Bonito y acogedor, así es Mr Miyagui, nos ha encantado la buena atencion y la celeridad a la hora de traer los platos para degustar, nos ha encantado la frescura de los sushis, simplemente se derretían en la boca.

Great food! However gave our food to somebody else, gave us a free drink but the people who had our food as well as what they ordered got our food (£20)for free and we still had to pay for ours…

Superb food...... would only say that it was rather slow in coming .... I would add my hope that customers sitting in the restaurant have priority over the Deliveroo customers sitting on their sofas at home in front of Strictly!!!!! This observation based on the large number of masked scooter drivers whipping in and out as we waited patiently for our wonderful chicken teriyaki........ JUST SAYIN.....

Popped in for a quick lunch bite. Clean, quick and some of the best sushi we’ve come across in England thus far. The Chef is clearly keen to maintain the quality of his product.

Fresh beautiful fish prepared there and then. Just needs platters offering a mixture of sashimi, nigiri, and sushi ...and more warm meaty dishes. Serene atmosphere where you can have a conversation, service is friendly. Have been back at least 5 times since opened! Oh and don't forget to try the Yuze tea!

We were handed a filthy, stained, crumpled menu! All four were vile. The selection was small and the plastic canteen style decor just wasn’t appealing so we went elsewhere. I’ll try again next time - maybe the food is amazing!?

Sushi was OK, definitely not as good as anything you could get in London for the same price. For Canterbury it was very pricey.

I'm really not any kind of Japanese food expert, but what I had was certainly very tasty and the service was good.

Lovely spot for sushi! Had the 10 piece omakase, it was tasty but quite pricey - I'd hoped for more variety, it's a bit disappointing that 6 pieces out of 10 were salmon. Also, the salmon was a bit too thinly sliced to my tastes, as it was falling apart when picking up a piece. Otherwise it was very good sushi, and I appreciate that the sushi rice is good quality, too. Would definitely visit again!

Wonderful sushi from a wonderful chef! Fantastic quality fish and now they have expanded into gyoza and noodles, all of which are delicious. Highly recommend!

Currently my favourite place to eat in Canterbury (March 2022). It's totally changed my opinion on Sushi.

Fair atmosphere, solid service , fresh food, but a bit of a feeling of an average place. Also, please do something about this strong chlorine odor...

I bought my 7yr old here who does love her sashimi. She loved it and reports back how fresh and perfect it was. The gyoza were so crispy, delicate and tasty. I'm moving back to the area, so we'll definitely be back!

Nice place just was very cold, had to keep my coat on. Sushi was delicious! Waiter seemed very stressed out/understaffed and I could see other customers were not happy with his service

Absolutely awful. The sushi fish selection is limited. No fatty tuna, mackerel, yellowtail which any half decent sushi place would have. The yakitori was so sweet with way too much sauce that I had one bite and sent it back. The chef still insisted on charging me even though the full dish was returned minus one bite. The miso soup was extremely salty. The place was almost empty and now we know why. After leaving we walked past the Happy Samurai and saw lots of happy people tucking into big steaming bowls of noodles and glistening sushi. Wished we’d gone there. Never again.

A brilliant sushi place, so glad they have a restaurant now! Speed of sushi can be really hit and miss, you need to be prepared for it to take a while to get to you. That being said, the sushi is fantastic and well worth wait. I've tried a range of things on the menu and never been disappointed. Service is also great and very considerate. If ordering for delivery best to call rather than use their web order form.

Excellent, the food is very good, and the service is helpful and friendly without being over the top. As Sushi goes it is about the going rate, so don't expect it to be cheap, but it's well worth a visit.

Me and my girls went there for the first time today and ordered for a platter meal for 4, requested the waiter if we can have no avocado and cucumber for our platter and he said that was fine, however few minutes later the chef stormed out and shouted at me and my friends saying he can’t pick and choose and only he can choose, the attitude was really bad as he sighed and looked annoyed. After the platter was served we ended up with 12 pieces of avocado and cucumber sushi. Just came for a good dinner with my girls but the chef totally embarrassed us and ruined our mood for the night! Food was good but the customer service was below the rating scale :(

I have tried every sushi restaurant in Canterbury/Ashford, and Mister Miyagi’s is by far the best quality, best tasting and freshest sushi I’ve had! I crave sushi every time I come to Canterbury. They cantered for my gluten, dairy and soya intolerance well without skimping on serving size or quality.

Badly run business. Tried to call to order take away as the website indicates... no answer. Went to the restaurant, despite there only being a few tables was told they were too busy to cope and would be over an hour for food. I’m sure the food is fine but we’ll never know !

Chicken Teriyaki was definitely chicken, not pork, like a review a few days ago says... Was the best chicken teriyaki I've ever had, seriously recommend it! The sushi was also brilliant, I will definitely be going back ☺️

Exceeded my expectations. Excellent service and good quality Sushi. We also had the Chicken Teriyaki and its by the far, the best I've tasted. I would disregard previous reviews about the "pork" as they clearly are not used to Japanese Food. I would definitely be returning
