Stopped for a bag of chips at lunchtime. Great value for money and very nice chips. Crisp and not too soggy like some chippy's.

Friendly sfaff and owners, and food is cooked to order and is by far best fish and chips in Herne Bay.

I paid over £36.00 for food and it was luke warm at best. The pie was still in it's wrapper. I have been using this chippy for over 20 years when down on holiday and I can say I won't be using it again.

We regularly come to the Double R for our delicious and freshly cooked fish and chips, which are still great value despite the necessary price increase. Lovely friendly owners, and staff too.

Just had the misfortune to buy a fish and chips supper from here. We took the batter off the fish as it was far too greasy to eat. We were shocked to find the smallest bit of fish heavily disguised in the batter. The chips were as greasy, so much so it left a coating of thick grease in my mouth. What a complete waste of £ 10.50, especially as it made me very sick. I can honestly say it was the worst fish and chip takeaway I’ve had the misfortune to experience. My advice is give this place a very wide berth, there is a lot better choice in Herne Bay.

Just collected fish and chips for 2 and unwrapped the meal to find this excuse of a fish supper. I picked up the battered fish and it was so light. So I removed all the batter to find the fish and it was virtually nothing at all, this is not £3.50 worth of battered fish. The chips were swimming in grease and my poor wife was sick in the bathroom because of so much oil. Now we have had fish and chips all over the UK, and abroad and without doubt this is the worst ever, we will never return.

Had chips from here twice and both times they were under cooked, insipid and oily. Will travel further into Herne Bay in future.

Definitely the best in Herne bay quite possibly the best we've eaten anywhere. Will be our new regular fish bar.

Honestly? If this is the “best fish and chips in Herne Bay”, I would HATE to see the worst!! White chips, soggy inside, chewy ‘skin’ on the outside, covered in grease. Fish was errr... o.K to eat, after I peeled it off the paper, but certainly nothing to write home about! I got through enough to fill me up by using plenty of tomato ketchup, then chucked the rest out for some poor fox. ( please, no animal rights letters!) Polite service, but I’m gonna scrub around it thanks!

On the whole, very good. The freshly baked fish needing wiping to take off the excess oil, while the large cod had been allowed to dry out and was rather tough. The chips were perfect. Their large portion of chips is very large compared to others. Thank you for the meal.

Great service at a time of difficulty in providing the best customer experience. Really good quality chips fried to perfection. Battered sausage was top quality with good layer of batter golden in colour. Sorry no photo this time

We often buy the 'OAP special' fish and chips. Excellent price and value. All freshly cooked, delicious light crispy batter on the beautifully cooked white fish, and just about the right amount of chips to fill you up without overloading you. It's always worth the wait! Delicious.

They do great food for really good value. The service is fast and friendly and it's always a popular spot. There's some local parking available around the area if you can't walk, but I'd say it's better than anywhere else I've been locally.

We’ve tried a few in the area now, but won’t bother any more. The cod and chips have been consistently excellent: great flavour, light batter, really fresh fish and super chips. Freshly cooked each time we’ve been. Generous portions. Good value.

I always get fish and chips for my grandad who is 96 when I visit him in Herne Bay. They do a pensioners portion which is plenty for him. The lovely lady always remembers me and we all agree the fish and chips are the best we have eaten.....Generous portions and perfectly cooked fish.......See you next time!

We regularly use this fish and chip shop although there are many in the town. The prices are good for a good portion. We prefer this to large prices for a portion that we end up not being able to eat or far too many chips. Service is always quick and efficient and with a smile. Recommended.

Absolutely sensational food. We had 2 large cod, jumbo sausage in batter and chips. All of it was first class. Sure, I had to wait for the large (massive!) fish to be cooked, and it was all the better for it. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. The portions of excellent chips were huge too and our grandson loved his sausage in batter. Highly recommended.

This is definitely the best fish and chip shop in Herne Bay. Freshly cooked and served with a smile. A good tip is to phone your order in 10 or 15 minutes in advance - they'll have them ready - so no waiting.
