Given time constraints, we requested takeout packaging, a request readily accommodated by the staff at takeout pricing. The food quality was outstanding, exhibiting clear freshness. We intend to return.

Found this place on Tripadvisor and it didn’t disappoint ! It was busy, but luckily we snagged the last table. Absolutely delicious dish and chips! The cod was so fresh and the batter was just right, crisp and not too thick. I orders the gluten free batter and my hubby ordered the regular and both were fantastic! Very friendly server as well. Also very reasonable price.

I have been here roughly two years ago as well. Nothing has changed in these two years. Taste is still amazing, food is still filling, staff is as nice

Not impressed. I've ordered fish&chips (cod) and I can't taste the huge difference between the ones in my home town (Worthing) and in Whistable, although one of my family members was pleasantly surprised and liked the freshness, batter of the cod.

Great guy.. i was late getting home and had no cash, the guy wasnt fazed and gave me a portion of chips and said drop the money in next time im passing.... i know im local but this chap didnt know that and was so understanding... great chips and i dropped his money off next day .. totally recommend "the best" to everyone visiting tankerton... note. Ozzies online but the place is called " the best" for a reason..

My family and I came here as part of my Mum's birthday celebration based on the reviews. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, and we managed to get a couple of tables joined together to seat us all. Every single meal which included 3 children's meals, haddock, scampi and chicken pie were fantastic. Wonderfully cooked and that of course includes the chips. I thought the children's portions were very generous considering the price and I wouldn't hesitate to come back here or recommend to others.

Came for fish and chips on Mother’s Day. They were very busy and I think all in all we waited over an hour for our food. We checked order when we left and they’d forgotten to pack fish so had to go back in and wait some more. We walked down to the grass verge overlooking the water to eat them and they chips were awful. Brown soggy mush. Battered sausage was nice and again the fish was pretty bad. Wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t come back. For a chip shop at a busy beach location I expected better food and better ability to deal with a busy rush

To be fair the food that we got was nice. However we didn’t get 2 of the things we ordered despite the owner going over our order twice with his colleague (son).

The best fish and chips we have had for a long time. Ate outside as the weather was beautiful and we had small puppy with us. The children’s meals were large and very good.

Been coming here everytime we're in Whitstable for years now and it's always 10/10 never ever a let down. This time was particularly banging! The chips are always the thickest, crispest and even when they're all clumped together at the bottom of the bag they remain incredibly crispy when you remove each chip from the mother clump 😅 if there's ever a que outside, Stop & wait mate... Fish and chips were excellent as always. Bottle of house white wine very disappointing, ordered by the bottle, served in carafe, virtually undrinkable. In fairness to Ossies, when we complained, we were only charged for the glass which we had poured

This place is racist, I came here with my friends and they said they are closed for eat in and they can’t seat us, but then we came back and a group of white people were seated, waiting to eat their food. Please learn to treat people with more respect , also charging people for mayo and ketchup is insane work.

This restaurant has been our "go to" place for fish and chips for years. We can't really comment on the other menu choices as we always opt for the pensioner special - a large piece of cod or haddock with chips, peas or salad. (This is served with a cup of tea.) We've never had a bad meal here and are puzzled by the occasional reviews which give it only one or two stars. The fish always tastes very fresh, the batter is light and crisp and the chips golden, crisp on the outside and soft in the middle - just right! I always have the crisp salad, which comes with the right amount of oil and vinegar dressing; my husband always has the mushy peas. My only mild criticism is that the portions are a bit too big for older people and we usually have to leave some - which seems a terrible waste. I would prefer the choice of a slightly smaller portion. The restaurant is small and is very popular so this might explain why sometimes there could be a wait for food. It's easier in summer when the outside tables can be used. We have always found the staff to be very efficient and friendly.

Pretty poor experience overall. We sat outside as we had a dog with us, no issue with that. Was told we could not order from the takeaway part and sit at the outside tables. Understood. I ordered a cod and chips, my partner ordered the cod bites and chips, and we ordered a drink each. After waiting a while, both meals came out, we had to ask for cutlery. The cutlery came, we had to ask for the drinks. The drinks came, we had to ask for the sauces and sausage we’d also ordered, so the service was very fractured to say the least. To say the food was underwhelming would be an overstatement. I could see from the takeaway that you could order different sizes of cod, as you would expect. However, when eating in (or outside) there was only one price. I would have assumed I’d get a medium or even large cod. Unfortunately, my piece of cod was hardly any bigger than one of my partner’s cod bites, so this hugely disappointing. Chips were nice, but overall it definitely wasn’t worth the walk from town, not for that price and for the amount of food you get. We could have saved time and money getting fish and chips in town and been more satisfied. Hardly the best fish and chips in Kent that I’d heard so much about.

We were lucky enough to arrange a family birthday party with Ossie and his amazing team. In his restaurant next to the chip shop. We ensured that the chef had plenty of notice of the menu choices, and the fantastic food arrived as one. It was all piping hot and really well cooked. Our family and friends were all delighted. The staff serving were attentive and super fast and efficient. I would highly recommend this restaurant venue for choices, quality, and service.

Had the best Fish and Chips we have had for many years,perfectly cooked,i had Haddock,my wife had Cod,the batter was exceptional thin and crispy right to the last mouthfull,accompanied by perfectly cooked chips.Very extensive menu, could have chosen half a dozen alternatives.

Have often used this place as we have found it to be the best fish and chip restaurant anywheres but took the opportunity to sample their advertised Sunday roast...and we were not disappointed! Excellent roast beef with a plentiful selection of vegetables and roast potatoes and very reasonably priced too! Much recommended

Best fish and chips I've had down south and lovely staff

Had some fish and chips here. Reasonably good food at a fair price. Annoying it is cash or bank transfer only. Also they were inexplicably slow to prepare my order, multiple other people's orders prepared much faster despite the fact I only ordered cod, Sausage and chips - nothing unusual. Also someone came in asking for gluten free fish and chips (which it apparently says they do online) but they left disappointed because they cook these in the same cooker as the regular fish and chips. Really confused by some extremely positive and negative reviews here, I'd say it is fine and fairly average.

Worst fish and chips I’ve had in a long long time - 15 minute wait to get stale cod, rude staff and cod+chips+can was £12. Really poor

Went for a drive to Tankerton and fancied fish and chips, but our usual place was closed so did a search and found Ozzies. Oh boy, it was first class. The meal was piping hot, well seasoned and the quality was of the highest calibre. Well priced. Sorry to say the usual place has lost me as a customer.

An absolutely fabulous place to eat. Haddock, chips and mushy peas were gorgeous. Quantity and quality could not have been better, food freshly cooked and served with a smile. Best fish and chips me and friend have had in a long while. Will be back in the new year.

Poor quality batter on fish had to pick it all off. Fish inside was ok but small. Lots of batter to make it look bigger. Didn't like it. Don't live there but if I did I wouldn't go there. Sorry.

We went for the Sunday roast today and left very full and impressed. Everything was cooked to perfection and it was restaurant quality. The beef was beautifully tender, accompanied by a selection of perfectly cooked vegetables, delicious roast potatoes and a huge Yorkshire pudding, topped with parsnips crisps. The gravy was the perfect accompaniment. We have tried many places locally for a roast dinner and I have to say that this is the best one we have found so far. You really must give it a try. We will certainly be back. Thank you!

Really poor service, we ordered fish and chips and were told we could eat outside and then after ordering we were told that we couldn’t sit on the table and would have to move to a bench which was occupied! Didn’t leave a good feeling when another couple were allowed to eat on the table. Maybe our demographics put them off!

Disappointed with the food and service. Food barely warm the cod was greasy and all grey and dry it was awful. The fat they are frying in tastes old. It has been repeating on me most of the evening. I will not go there again. Unfortunately the place has gone down hill. Aprons better hygiene friendly service and hot nice food is missing.

Ordered cod and chips for two, it was cooked to order. We were very happy with our dinner and would happily go back when we are back in the area.

Gorgeous fish and chips, quick service. There are c. 10 tables to eat inside and 6 tables outside, the choice is yours. Located next to the takeaway shop. Plenty of parking outside, bike stand and dog bowl available too.

Excellent meal this evening in the restaurant. Had the grilled cod from the specials menu. Freshly cooked to order. Life is expensive but this meal out was well worth the money. Friendly staff Highly recommend

Unfortunately, my experience didn’t compare to the good reviews. Visited and queued for over 25 minutes outside and only then saw the notice inside saying it was cash only. Maybe an idea to post this on the window. Not a problem as had some cash but don’t usually as everywhere takes card. That aside, ordered 2 lots of cod and chips - the chips had no flavour and the cod just tasted of fat and batter (no cod taste at all). Bitterly disappointed. My 15 year old said the same thing so wasn’t just my thoughts!

Visited today with my partner and my dog had the o.a.p fish and chips dinner it was very tasty managed to get table in the shade outside. Only downside was the price of 2 cans of diet coke just under £6 which in my opinion was expensive.

Discovered Ossies Best Fish and Chips in Whitstable through Google Maps, and the reviews didn’t disappoint. The cod and chips we ordered were absolutely delicious—fresh fish and generous portions. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We opted to sit outside to enjoy our meal. There’s a separate area for dining in, but the prices are a bit higher. Nevertheless, highly recommend! We noticed lots of locals popping in for takeaway, which is always a good sign.

NOT GLUTEN FREE. Advised they do offer gluten free food - but it’s cooked in the same oil as gluten items! Obviously not safe for people with Coeliac Disease.

Great fish and chips. Have had both rock and cod at Ossies and it was cooked too perfection. Generous portions very fresh and very good price. Special thanks to the waitresses that have served us when we have visited they are brilliant 👍 Ossies well worth visiting.

Great chips and perfectly made fish

Haven't sat in the restaurant side for a long time, completely changed menu, the food looked well presented with good options,. I thought it would just fish and chips, but there were good alternatives to deep-fried fish. I had basic cod and chips, which was served to perfection, cooked just right, the fish was moist, not dry, the chips were golden but not dripping in oil or fat.

Wow today’s fish lunch was so fresh and amazing. Caught yesterday on my plate today. Driven over an hour to get here but we will be back again soon. First class.

No cash payments allowed., the food was terrible. The owners were very rude. It wasn't open at the stated time, and tge hygiene is awful.

Unfortunately they work on a by order basis, so even though we ordered only 2 small chips, we had to wait 25 minutes to get our food whilst they cooked all the bigger orders ahead of us. Such an inefficient way to run it and completely different to the other fish and chip shops in Whitstable.

We got to the shop at 7.30 after paying £5.70 for an hour and a half’s parking, to be told they were shutting in half hour. Anyway we ordered and sat down. The chips were good, the batter was a little bit stodgy for my liking and the mushy peas were good. Service was mediocre.

Brilliant tea with the kids. Good service, good food (we ate everything, as did the kids (who didn't moan at all!!) And a good price. Yes, it's not the ritz, it's a local chippy, but it's lovely. I thoroughly recommend and will be back!

Always been a favourite of ours. Great fish and chips and not far from the sea front too. Deducted a star because on my last visit I was kind of forced to pay cash. I didn’t have a bank card on my just Apple Pay and was made to pay via a bank transfer. So beware if you don’t have a card to cash.

Delicious fish and chips, reasonably priced in a busy and cosy fish bar. There was a choice for haddock, cod and plaice; I tried cod and was not disappointed. 30 minute walk along the coast from Whistable main beach.
