The best fish and chips i’ve had in years, lovely service and venue too. I’m not going to Whitstable again without eating here.

Funny how they rate themselves THE BEST, debatable Food was okay, the medium portion of chips, unbelievable small Are potatoes that expensive, you have to skimp so much, I have never had a portion of chips so small, we counted less than 30 chips on a plate, In our regular Broomfield fish bar, much better quality, and quantity, Won’t be using Ossies Best Fish And Chips Again, Funny how our regular Broomfield fish bar is still part of Ossies, Just much better service, quality and quantity, Tankerton shop, should be ashamed of yourselves, Potato saving skimpers

1st visit of the year and the food never disappoints and worth the 40 minute drive, would recommend the Plaice its delicious

Delicious. Oven baked haddock, Saute Potatoes, salad with Garlic & Coriander Marinade.

Superb food in such a local and intimate setting. I would return.

Best cod and chips I have had in years. Batter just right crisp and crunchy on top, not greasy and chips good chunks.

Oh my god....was feeling a little bit piggy on a Friday night so had large haddock and chips with curry sauce and mushy peas.. UNBELIEVABLE...so so good the missus had a large saveloy and chips all for 16 quid..lived here for 50 years best by far..

Our regular, for very good reasons

We decided to visit Ossie’s for fish and chips and discovered a much broader menu on offer. On Ossie’s recommendation we picked the fish curry which was outstanding and as a curry connoisseur, I can say this was the best fish curry ever. Really glad we stopped by,

cracking Huss and Chips. or Roc , as they call it in Tankerton. Mushy peas accompanied it nicely .

Food was bloody delicious. Service very good and wasn't kept waiting for ages like some places. Will def visit again and would definitely recommend.

Amazing service, delicious food served in no time and were able to accommodate me as I'm vegan, so offered me a really yummy stuffed pepper which I had with chips and mushy peas. I loved it. Nothing was too much trouble and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves, as it was a Tuesday night. We had a lovely family meet up, delicious food and great service for very affordable prices. Cheerful fish shop which is usually quite busy. The fish and chips are as good as any in whitstable but the portions are larger and I’ve found the service quicker than a well know competitor on Harbour St

Ossies do the best chips, there is a Ossies in whitstable also, worth phoning the order then collecting as queues always long

Visited late afternoon and only us and another couple there. We were welcomed by staff, and our drinks served quickly. We had large plaice with chips and mushy peas and cod with chips and salad. We are lucky to have a great chippy near our home, but this was the best meal we've had at a chippy for ages. Would recommend a visit.

Ozzies has always produced good fish 'n' chips but unfortunately on my last visit the food was very poor..batter on the haddock was soggy with not a crispy bit in sight..the chips were not fresh, they looked and tasted as if they were a few hours old. Very disappointing.

Wow, wow, wow!! We came to visit family whilst they are on their holiday and we booked in for a roast dinner! What a great choice!! Four of us had the beef, and one had the chicken. I had the beef and it was delicious! A great selection of vegetables, skin-on potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and the tastiest red wine gravy I’ve ever had. The beef was so tender and melt in your mouth. Followed by a wonderful portion of homemade tiramisu. If you do want to try Ossie’s, you have to pre-order the type of meat you would like in advance. Highly recommended and we will be coming down again for another visit and another roast dinner. We live two hours away and it is absolutely worth the drive down here to have another one of these roast dinners, and try out some of the other meals available on the menu. We are already discussing and planning our next visit!!

This is my favourite take away for fish and chips. Always so fresh and tasty and always a queue so be prepared to wait but that tells you how good the food is.

Swim at the beach, drink at the Royal and then delicious fish and chips and a cold coke from friendly waitress and team at Ossies, returning as we had loved it before. What more could you want?! ☀️

Excellent fish and chips, not the often greasy food, this is perfect. Extremely pleasant staff, very trusting as I had to go back with cash after my meal overlooking the beach. Run by a true gentleman, will go again and again.

Lord knows how they have such a long queue. Fish and chips was very poor. Fish was over cooked and bland. Chips were drastically undercooked. Mushy peas decent (hard to mess that one up) Ketchup was fake. Tartare was ok. Vinegar wasn’t even close to vinegar, was heavily watered down. Toilets filthy. £38 too pricey for what is was.

Really disappointed with our fish and chips. The food was really bland and not very tasty at all. The chips tasted undercooked for my liking and the fish although massive just didn’t taste that good. I’ve had far better fish and chips elsewhere. Also horrible cheap ketchup! For an eat in place I also felt that the toilets were really unpleasant. They had to be accessed down a narrow side alley which would not be suitable for pushchairs or wheelchair users. I wouldn’t recommend going. For £38 (we ate in) it was also a bit pricey.

Very good Skate done in the oven ,complete with roast potatoes salad and garlic crust.

In my short visit to UK, i went thru London, Ipswich and Whitstable. I was intrigued by Ossies' claim to best fish n chips in Kent. Wasn't disappointed after satisfying my curiosity. However my first would be a certain outlet in Ipswich. But since that's not in Kent, there's no competition! Plus for Ossies is that Whitstable is a warmer n friendlier place. This small but bustling outlet can get a bit noisy unless you sit outdoors (nice option on a good day) 😄 Hope to return another time.

Wow! Best fish and chips I have ever tasted! (And I've tasted a few) I would thoroughly recommend. Plus a walk along the Tankerton Slopes after.

So disappointing. Having been to the Whitstable Ossies, we were really happy to find this one. Unfortunately the chips were undercooked, so they were anemic and more like eating mashed potato, and the fish was so greasy, it was unpleasant. The batter was good - but swimming in oil. Large cod was on the small side. Such a shame.

We had the most delicious lunch from here! We always ask for extra salt and vinegar at chip shop and these chips did not disappoint- they were so tasty! We ate all of our food and thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't be put off if there is a queue, it goes super quickly as the staff are very fast and efficient. They are polite and friendly, especially the younger guy on the till who dealt with us. Would definitely return in the future :)

Certainly do serve the best Cod and chips, my only complaint would be is why do they only accept cash or bank transfer and not just straight forward card payments.

Lots of choice. Smaller adult portions but huge children's ones. Lovely outdoors when the weather good. Can't wait to return!

I have visited more then once when i go down to spend the day in Tankerton and Whitstable. Each time the food has been excellent, service friendly and the food well cooked and offering excellent value for money.

Both the fried fish and baked fish were very good. The staff were really nice and friendly. Ossie himself came to speak to us a few times and was very sweet and attentive. The food was very reasonably priced. Drinks were pricey, but I think it’s like that everywhere now. We even got takeaway to eat later! Would definitely come back if in the area.

Was reasonable price friendly staff members,but found the chips lovely but had lots of crispy bits of batter from fish mixed with the chips they could do with a separate fryer to cook there fish separate 👍😎

Impressed by the solid 4.5 ratings on both TripAdvisor and Google, we decided to reserve a table during peak hours. The place buzzed with a lively atmosphere and friendly patrons. Seating and service were almost instant, despite the sizable takeaway queue. Today's revelation: they do take cards, a contradiction to recent reviews. Quick, cheerful service paired with excellent flavours and everything perfectly cooked, though the "large" fish and chips leaned on the smaller side. Soft drink cans were priced too high (£3), given the ambiance. For 4 large cod and chips plus 2 soft drinks, the tab hit £61.70 pre-tip. Toilets need better upkeep, considering the crowd and popularity. Despite this, we'll return – maybe to enjoy our meal at Tankerton Slopes or the beach.

Exquisite fish and chips purchased to take away and eat on Tankerton Slopes, will definitely be back.

Stopped off for lunch at what looked to be a fish and chip bar but was delighted to see they do a far larger range of home made foods. I chose the steak and ale pie 3 veg and mash, took a while to come but that’s because pie and veg are cooked from scratch it was well with the wait. I have gone on my way with a very full and satisfied tummy lol will definitely stop here again. WELL DONE

Excellent fish and chips. I ordered the 'Special' which was pan fried skate, a big treat for me. I also tried their homemade desserts, excellent. There are several fish and chip shops in the area bearing the same name but this one is unique. Probably the best in Kent.

We visit Whitstable quite regularly but have never used Ossies takeaway before. Sadly we won't be using it again. We spent £18 on fish and chips . The cod was hardly visible and the batter so tough it was inedible. So very disappointing!

Visited today and must say the best fish and chips I have had in a long time. Haddock was fresh and crispy, chips were perfectly cooked and mushy peas tasted great.

My nephew and family were visiting from Budapest. They wanted to eat “fish and chips” so we went to Ossies. Ordered 5 large portions of cod and chips, for takeaway. We had to wait a few minutes for the cod to cook. We then walked...

I always need to have gluten free good and had been told Ossie's was really good. I was very disappointed to find that they cook the Gluten fish in the same oil as regular cod. This means there is cross contamination and should not be advertised as GF. I didn't stay to eat as I didn't want to be ill because of the method used for cooking.

Well cooked cod and chips. Not cheap, but good value based on food quality.

The fish is very fresh and the cooking is excellent with large portions. Their chips are outstanding, key to this is the fact that they make their own chips on site with real care. Once you have tried real chips cooked this well, you will be back. Is a family operation with great staff.

Lovely experience and great food

Went for evening stroll and popped in by chance to take some fish and chips to the beach. Very impressed with the lovely staff, good prices and delicious food, Would recommend.

Stopped here for lunch (Saturday) you dine inside, outside, or takeaway. Decor is simple but clean. I ordered the haddock and chips, which were delicious and not oily with lovely chips. Staff were attentive and polite. Extra large fish for £1 extra. I will pop in again when I'm in the area.

We normally have take-away fish & chips but this time chose to eat in. As always at this establishment, staff were friendly and the food excellent. Glad to see that at last they are accepting credit cards which has always been missing in the past.

I'm pretty certain we got food poisoning from here last week. Our fish wasn't made to order so perhaps it had been there a long time, perhaps we were just unlucky. The service and food was great at the time but I can't give a positive review in good faith.

Always packed out, so allow time to get your food! Only criticism is I phoned my order ahead as it was a bank holiday weekend, went to collect 45 mins later. Had to queue 10 minutes, and only then my order got out in the queue. Needs a better system for collections but the food is great!

Very nice fish and chips from the left hand side. Decent cup of tea with the spoon left in the mug which I appreciated. They do beer and cider and soft drinks also. Sugar lumps at the table and a nice big vinegar bottle with the salt and pepper. Lovely, lovely, lovely waiting staff. Kid friendly. Plenty outdoor and indoor seating. They let my doggo sit outside and gave him a bowl of water :)

We had fish & chips on Easter Sunday and they were delicious...Freshly cooked and really enjoyable..Sat on the beach ate them out of the bag...The best way to eat fish & chips!! The curry sauce was amazing too. Definitely recommend and will return again.

I have been a customer of Ossie's both eating in and takeaway. The quality is always top notch and I can't rate them highly enough.

Everybody loves chips and these are particularly good but I am very picky when it comes to the fish. I was not usually a fan of battered cod until I tried this fish and chips. It is neither over or undercooked - the batter is crispy and the fish retains its shape and texture. It is cooked fresh and it is the best tasting battered cod I have had.

Great food, great staff. Tasty and fun :)
