The master is very friendly and the fish and chips are delicious! I also love the chicken nuggets!

Awful chips no flavour, ate about 4 then threw away.

Over cooked and over priced. So disappointed after going out of my way to experience this.

Best fish & chip shop in Canterbury. Best price for what you get, portions are massive & the quality is great. Batter is thin & not greasy. I don't think there is a larger meal in Canterbury Staff are always chatty & very friendly.

The boss is the best~~~♡♡♡ The fish is very fresh and the regular size is much larger than other stores. The fish cake is also delicious. I will definitely visit again.

Very welcoming staff members there, friendly and very polite. Very well done chips, nice and hot like they should be with high quality tasty satisfaction. Portion sizes are very good even for a regular being the smaller size on the menu. And the atmosphere is amazing with nice sitting down areas to wait for your chips at for my of as you go into the chip bar to order. Very highly recommended to all people who want a good experience that will tick of all the boxes.

Positive: quick service, in and out in less than 3 minutes Negative: not friendly, uninterested. We ordered a large cod and large chips with vinegar: small cod to be large and didn't taste like much..., chips were OK but also there, not the large portions people wrote about, couldn't taste any vinegar. Overall impression: not impressed and wouldn't come here a second time.

There are many chippies in the area, it's a competitive market. This has become our favourite local chippie in recent years. Consistently excellent. Great chips, great batter, perfectly cooked fish.

Went up to the local chippy to get me dad some dinner specifically told the man no breaded mushrooms as my dad can’t eat wheat specifically asked for battered mushrooms get given the mushrooms and what a surprise they are breaded when asked to change them nothing was done about it and was told I was lying will Never eat here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone

Great staff, let me pay in card because I didn't have cash. Very friendly and polite. Gave me free chips while I waited and more when my cod roe came out.

The toughest sausage I have ever tasted! Unfriendly older man serving. Chips were tasty and good portion but there is absolutely no way that sausage was fresh. Skin as tough as anything and like cardboard inside. My Jack Russell struggled with a bite of it and that’s saying something! Wouldn’t return.

Worst fish chips ive ever had, avoid this place like the plague.. ! Fish had no flavor, not even salt in batter very strange ! - oil tasted wrong 3 chips in felt sick.. this shop needs new ownership or close down. Threw whole lot away, very angry cost me £8 to take 3 bites

Had a very nice takeaway from here . Had fish and chips, pie and chips and fish bites and chips. Nice chap serving gave me a few chips whilst waiting for. Good chips and fish was very good . Fish bites the best I’ve had and lots of them . Pie a little pricey but otherwise very happy .

I am a regular customer at Ossie's Fish bar. This is a remarkably great place for fish and chips. The food is extremely delicious and the quantity is massive. He keeps throwing in some extras as well every now and then. I love going here and the staff and really friendly and helpful. Once again, This place has the best fish and chips as well as some delicious dishes such as chicken, Sausages and so on. Awesome food !!!!

Our family came to visit and were really looking forward to some lovely fish and chips, but the food we received was very very dry.We all felt very disappointed and wished we had eaten something else.we ordered haddock and cod and chips and we picked up our order promptly.You are running a fish and chip shop and presumably are trained in what you do, how can you provide such poor food?

Service seemed hostile - the two guys seemed to raise their voices to each other speaking another language and acted as if I was a nuisance being there to order something as a customer. Odd. I ordered a battered jumbo sausage, small chips, a can of coke and a sachet of ketchup. 8 POUNDS!!! I’m pretty sure I was ripped off, as the menu said different. I didn’t have time to complain as I had to be somewhere, but I won’t come again. The food is nice, but the service is abysmal - as well as a scam.

Hi I’ve been lied to 4 times since I’ve shopped here, they have told me everything is halal, and I have been eating the food. Why have I just found everything in that shop is being fried with the same oil, and 90% of their food is pork. I will making a very huge complaint to services.

Is this place ever actually open? Multiple times I’ve gone there in the early afternoon and it’s closed, despite the signs/times saying it should be open. Unprofessional in my view.

This is the best shop in Canterbury, not just the size of the chips which are big as they should be, they do not use polystyrene trays that in this time of waste is unbelievable. And the portions are big.

I don't eat seafood, only had fish once maybe in the past 20 years or more but I wasn't coming to England without eating some fish and chips. I can't compare it with much but it was filling and fairly enjoyable. The man at the counter was very friendly, I liked having a chat with him although he was making some fairly borderline comments about coming home with me. I ate inside on the seats with it on my lap, there were no tables but it was comfortable enough.

Price : the price was too high we paid13 pounds for a fish and chips. Be careful it is written 7.80 pounds for CHILDREN. For adults it is NOT written. Very tricky and not fair from the owner Quality : everything is cooked in the same oil, the potatoes tasted like the fish. The fish is not fresh. Quantity : good portion Customer service : the man who took our order was disrespectful. We asked him a simple question : is it cooked with alcohol? He didn't want to answer the question. Moreover he was annoying us with his disrespectful remarks such as "you want this (showing the salt)? There is no alcohol in it". I wouldn't recommend trying this adress for tourists. There is better elsewhere.

Always fresh, always delicious, very good food and cheaper than most other chip shops in the area. I have been going here for many years it's good value for money here and the food and service has always been fantastic.

Food was tasty and the chips where so good crunchy and fluffy inside. I would really recommend going here if you are near by and hungry. Parking outside is a little difficult though.

got chips and battered sausage, chips were extremely stale and can tell they have been left out or reheated. battered sausage was dry and batter was dark brown on inside. would not recommend at all.

Chips taste of nothing and the sausage was cheap and nasty despite costing just as you’d expect from a normal chippy. Won’t come again.

Updated: Visited again 28/2/23 We ordered haddock, chips & mushy peas. Received a cup of green water sold as mushy peas & despite drowning the chips in vinegar, couldn't taste anything on the chips whatsoever. The chips tasted weird. It's fair to say condiments are now being watered down significantly. The haddock was OK but we didn't enjoy given the awful tasting sides. Overall. Absolutely yuck 🤮

I went to Ozzie couple hours ago around 7-8pm, and I asked if the sausages were beef as I can’t eat pork, and he lied to my face saying the sausages are beef when it’s pork. Such a shame

We had cod, saveloy & a medium chips which was huge had enough to go round 4 people, not too badly priced either will be going back in the future

Me and my son love cod and chips from Ossie’s fish bar. We became regular customers just recently but we keep on coming back. The portions are huge and they try to cook the fish fresh for you so you might wait a bit but it is well worth it. I wont be going anywhere else and i can highly recommend you to try them. The owners are super friendly and they always make everyone feel welcome.

Been in here twice now and had a great experience. The first time, it was about 9:40PM and they were getting ready for closing up. I popped in as I walked past just to see what they had left, so I grabbed the last sausage and a portion of chips. To prevent food from going to waste, the guy working gave me two sausages, so many chips, and he charged us the same amount. The second time, I went in at dinner time. I asked for battered sausage and a large portion of chips. The chips had been sat under the heat lamps for a while, and the guy working offered to put a new batch on for me. I told him not to worry and that I don't mind that the chips have been sat there for a while. He sorted my order out: sausage in a bag, chips in the paper. He put so many chips in there, looked at me and asked if that was enough, to which I told him it would do me for a week. Then, because I didn't make him put a brand new batch on as he was about to go on break, he gave me an extra sausage. I love this place. The food is excellent, and the staff are among the nicest, friendliest people I've encountered. Will be coming in at least weekly.

Staff are so lovely and fantastic battered sausages!

This is one good place to get takeaways and the quality of the food is mostly good and fresh. There have been a few hiccups but he leans from his mistakes when told about them. We just keep going back. He gives big helpings and often adds extras in. He knows people march on their stomaches. I recommend that people give him a try and tell him his food is good when it is and bad when its bad and why. All whats missing is a gluten free menu imo

Used all of the ozzies in East kent, allas they were five star, but in recent times, I'm not sure why, the taste of old oil, putting your fresh fish in the cabinet on top of chicken, no thanks, I'm vegetarian. . . . Strict veges beware!!!!

We decided to revisit Ossie's after a pleasant previous experience (and our usual fish shop was closed 😉) but to say we were extremely disappointed is to say the least 😞. The service was not very friendly (unlike the last time) as the staff seemed very overwhelmed by the amount of customers. There was a bit of a wait which wasn't a concern as we always feel that good food takes time. But when the food did arrive however, it was absolutely disgusting. The chips tasted day-old and the fish was dry and tasteless. This was very disappointing to the entire family. We felt as though the oil used was old and was in urgent need of a change. To top it all, the whole lot was disgustingly oily. Needless to say, we were not impressed. The whole lot was inedible and went straight to the bin. We will certainly approach this place more cautiously in the future.

My 11 year old boy attending a birthday party. Not a cheap endeavor but the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. Parking was tricky as it is very limited. Only 4* because the toilets were not working and the boys had to pop off into the woods. The girls did not want that option.
