We are in Poppins every week, never have i had any bad experiences. We always get a big hug from Burak, he is a super star and definitely keeps the place going, he is funny, happy and always ready to help with anything, also the rest of the staff are just as fantastic & friendly. Decent food, brilliant Cups of tea and always a service with a smile from them all. I refuse to go anywhere else for a Cup of tea now. Try the Teacakes, they are lovely.

Whilst out walking around Basingstoke, we stopped here for a quick beer and sat outside in the sunshine. Barmaid was pleasant enough and the beer was good and very reasonably priced. Cannot really comment on much else because it was just a quick stop for one beer.

A Culinary Crime Scene: The Tragic Demise of Lunch Pizza - clearly an ‘oven ready’ reheat as zero customisation can be made. Only made better by the complete lack of culinary skills of the not-yet trained work experience who has been asked to dump half a pot of dried mixed Italian herbs on top. The near tasteless confusion from someone who couldn’t quite decide if the base should be Neapolitan, American deep pan, or some kind of three year olds attempt at ‘artisanal’ bakery leaves a poor base that can’t make up its mind what it should be, creating a confusion between a bath sponge and supermarket focaccia at best, a sauce that will win no awards and some tasteless cheese layer. The cheese may have had taste, however the near sandpaper like quality introduced by the carpet of dried herbs perhaps hid any subtleties of flavour there. Backup onion rings, a staple of pub food. They weren’t quite so offensive, seriously lacking in any taste though. It’s fantastic for them not to be layered in so much salt that your blood pressure rises just thinking about them, but the complete and utter lack of any subtly here means they are a vehicle for a dip only. “Bucket of nachos” is a generous term for the pile of misery that arrived at the table. A soggy graveyard of once-crispy chips, now drowned beneath a sludge that may have once aspired to be cheese but gave up somewhere along the way.

Called in for breakfast . I have visited before and found it quite nice although some of the staff can be a little curt. This time i was met with a miserable man with glasses , bellowing out orders. He handed me my order and proceeded with a very backward stereotype, a racial "joke". I don't expect to be racially abused when i am spending my hard earned money in your cafe. After his bigoted quip, he scurried off very quickly. I am glad he did as it was likely he d have had his glasses smacked off his head. Cheeky boy trying to belittle people when he's serving coffees for a living. I wont be back near the establishment as I don't support bigots.
