Poor quality of food especially mains They served dal Makhani which was spoiled and smelly. Gravy for kadai paneer was uncooked. Which they later offered to replace, however no improvement. Not recommended for mains. Starters were ok.

Reply after comment from owner: Following my previous review regarding the shockingly stale food served at your establishment, I am compelled to write again due to the dismissive and frankly dishonest response you posted. To reiterate, the dal was unequivocally spoiled, possessing an off-putting smell that indicated it was not fresh. When we brought this to the attention of your staff, they were unable to provide any explanation for why such substandard food was served. Your claim that our bill was significantly higher and that we were being "cheap" by requesting the removal of the rotten dal is a blatant misrepresentation of the facts. Our total bill was approximately £102, and our request to deduct the cost of the inedible dal was a matter of principle, not cost-saving. We ultimately paid over £92 for the remainder of the meal. To label us as "cheap" under these circumstances is not only inaccurate but deeply insulting. While I commend your staff for their kind offer to replace the paneer dish, it's crucial to clarify that this replacement was also returned untouched. We chose to take it with us to give to someone in need, as we believe in avoiding food waste. This act of goodwill towards your staff should not be twisted into an implication that we enjoyed the food. Furthermore, your assertion that "most of the food was finished" is categorically false. The majority of the dishes, including the questionable dal, were left largely uneaten. Each person at our table tried a small portion and deemed it to be off. Even the children's mango lassis, which we specifically inquired about for freshness due to our growing concerns, were tangy and not as they should have been. This further compounded our negative experience and raised serious questions about the quality of your ingredients. Instead of resorting to fabricating a narrative on Google, I implore you to urgently review the quality of your food preparation and storage. Our experience clearly indicates significant issues that need immediate attention. The fact that your restaurant was entirely empty for the duration of our visit speaks volumes about the current state of your establishment. Spreading misinformation online will not solve the underlying problems. Focusing on providing fresh, high-quality food and addressing customer concerns with honesty and integrity is the only way to regain trust and improve your business. I sincerely hope you will take this feedback seriously and implement the necessary changes to prevent other customers from having similar experiences.

Booked a table for 10pm online. Arrived to be told they closed at 10pm. Confused that we were allowed to book and left hungry. Shame as the food from last time was pretty good.

The food was cold and bland. Did not enjoy at all. And with the priceF it wasn’t worth it.

Worst experience today, staff did treat us badly. Staff really wants to ruin the experience, saying you will be requested to move from the table, if big group comes. I have been here in the past, but today it was just like they were trying to just say, not welcomed

Me and my husband went to this place, I really would not recommend this place, confused staff, short of food, unfizzy coke, staff didn't attend when needed, buffet tray lids were all open and left on side, food wasn't covered, food was very cold, not worth trying, waste of money, change was also not given, waited for change but staff disappeared

I placed an order through the Uber Eats app and waited at home for over two hours. When the restaurant wouldn’t answer the phone and I couldn’t get any updates from the app or the restaurant, I decided to go to the restaurant in person. After finally receiving my order and getting home, I discovered it was the wrong one! To make matters worse, the food was tasteless. The customer service was poor, and no refund or discount was offered. I usually dine at Tuli Restaurant but decided to try this one, and it turned out to be the worst experience and decision.

The outside of this place is not the most enticing but once you are through the door it's colour and vibrancy and a warm welcome! We had a really good meal here, staff really welcoming and accommodating our last minute booking amendments! Great range of dishes, a really sound biryani, delicious breads, everything we tried tasted great. Nicely busy even early evening so a good buzz. We will be back!

Nice decor and tidy feeling inside, staff were OK but could be a little more 'upbeat', service time was ok, meal arrival time wasn't great at over half an hour. My chicken madras was the strangest looking and tasting madras I've ever eaten, and I've had dozens. Pale, slightly watery, odd smell and taste. Not entirely off-putting but I've had dishes at other restaurants that make me want to go back, unfortunately this made me think about avoiding in the future. Perhaps just the chefs signature? If I do go back, I'll try something else next time. 3/5 overall. Not exactly cheap here so everything should be perfect. Oh, 3 cans of diet coke? A smidge under £10.50. lol. Luckily Google don't ask for Price to be reviewed or that'd be a 2/5 for sure.

We ordered a takeaway from Spicy Tadka this evening, our first time ordering from here and it was such a lovely curry, really flavourful. Also, our delivery driver was so polite and friendly. Thanks so much, we can’t wait to order another curry soon 😊 xx

We ordered egg fried rice and special chicken curry,fried rice was like scrambled eggs added to boiled rice had no taste and curry was chicken in tinned curry sauce. That day restaurant was booked for a birthday party so other customers got low quality food, waste of money .

Came to the Spicy Tadka for the first time New Year's Eve with my partner. Really enjoyed the food would definitely recommend and use again. Quick and friendly service, beautifully cooked food

Not good food, sauces too thick , service was so so. The portions were in little very small bowls and the rice portions were just enough for a 5 y old . Also it's so expensive, thrrr were 6 of us, 3 adults 3 children, No alcohol was consumed and the bill came to £172 . I I've in London and go to restaurants in Bayswater or Edgware Road and the max we've paid is £120 . This place is a con , I'm shocked they have so many good reviews. Look around and go somewhere nicer and more reasonable, TRUST ME

We are long time users of the take away service from here and the food has always been lovely. We have been tempted away by other places with offers and have always regretted it. We finally went into the actual restaurant and we were not disappointed. The food was lovely and the service very friendly. We will be going back for more. Definitely

Food was nice but the service was so slow. We waited so long for our starters and main. And then to pay we waited 20min. Reviews are meant to give customers a platform to share their experiences, and constructive criticism should be taken in stride. As for accommodating us, we appreciate it, but if you knew you were busy and there would be delays, it would have been helpful to inform us upfront. We could have chosen to wait or gone to another Indian restaurant instead. That’s a decision we should have been allowed to make. Honestly we had best Indian taste after almost 2 years , I'm obsessed with Spice Tadka.The food is consistently delicious, and the service is always top notch ,The menu has a great variety of options, and the prices are very reasonable. I've been going back again and again, and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Indian food! I would appreciate the efforts of Daljit , Jaspreet (very sweet ) and all the staff member , Must visit if you like Indian food .

Worst momo i ever had its not authentic at all i know its NOT indian dish so i shouldve known better especially the way its spelled is a red flag and cheese naan had barely any cheese in it, chicken biryani was very very dry it was like eating a cardboard, lamb chop was tougher than old shoe, samosa was like biting on a desert, i have ate at this place when it first opened but it gave me all sorts of stomach problem and they were raided for hiring illegals hence why food quality was low and unsanitary which made sense and after all those years I returned to give it another try just to be even more disappointed than i originally had been. Hope they can work out their issue and start serving good quality foods.

We were blown away by the quality of the food and the speed of delivery, especially considering the size of our order! Everything was hot, perfectly labelled, and absolutely delicious. But what really made our night was the lovely message and surprise for our two kids who just finished their exams. It was such a thoughtful touch and we really appreciate it. First time ordering here tonight. Was not impressed, the peshwari naan had a very strange texture inside and wasn’t enjoyable, the mint sauce was the worst I’ve had in 30years of that being my favourite side; it was not sweet at all just bitter and spicy, the lamb in the korma was so overcooked and dry it was like eating an overcooked steak and The rice had hard grains that were uncooked and it was also very dry. My food arrived 10 minutes early and the driver was lovely - but the food was cold on arrival. £32 I’ll never get back 👎 I will say the complimentary salad was packaged nicely although having to dice it up myself was different as it usually arrives ready to chuck on the plate. The carrot slices in the salad had obviously been sliced way in advance too as they were also very dry. Have to agree with other reviews - this meal didn’t seem fresh at all. I won’t order here again.

Very nice authentic Indian food I haven’t had such good Indian food for so long I recommend the biryani and lamb Karachi.

We ordered a delivery. The food arrived within an hour and was hot. The main courses were so bad, we binned most of it. All 4 of us agreed, it's probably the worst curry we've ever had. The Saag Aloo was the worst I've tasted. The food fell well below our expectations sadly.

Excellent food and service. I have lamb tikka masala and Carole had chicken korma. Both were tasty without being hot. Staff were friendly and attentive but still very efficient. The restaurant started to fill up after we've been there for a few minutes and staff put out extra tables and made everyone very welcome. The only slight problem was that the toilets are down two long flights of stairs which is very difficult. If like me you are severely disabled.

Splendid food , railway lamb curry , Laal Maas, really enjoyed the food . Gagan served us well. I would appreciate if the portion of curry and rice could be a bit generous for that price. Lamb Curry was nearly £16.50 and a small portion of Rice was £4.00. Please make the portions a bit more. Other than that all is Good. I think the hand made Naan is relatively small in comparison to Restaurants in Reading or in Slough or in Southall or Hounslow.

We had poppadoms with chutneys. Lamb Dana with Lemon rice. Chicken shaslick with butter rice and a garlic naan. Plus a couple of kingfishers. Absolutely delicious. Highly recommended. We've had many of the dishes and never had a bad meal. Service is friendly and polite and they are happy to recommend dishes if you aren't sure.

Worst ever food ordered. I was really disappointed. I ordered thinking it's a 4.3 rating, it may be good but I was really wrong. Dansak curry tasted like tin tomatoes with frozen packet vegetables. No flavours and tasted the worst ever. I tried other restaurants dansak curry and all came good. This restaurants is by far the worst in Basingstoke. Whoever the chef is, they need help with cooking. They cannot cook. And I am saying this as I'm from an Asian background. The worst ever food tried. Would not want this for others who order food.

Do not believe the five star reviews you see, they must have been paid to do so. This place was vile to say the least. Every food item tastes of cardamom. Quality of food is poor and the price is extremely high. Save your money and dine somewhere else so you don't ruin your evening.

Really disappointed with my order. The chicken tikka (main course option) was small and really not much bigger than the starter size I had ordered previously. No salad with it or vegetables (yes, I could have ordered some but this order was already well over £30 for 4 items including a beer). The madras was a little bit sweet and could have had more chicken considering it was a dish with only chicken and the sauce. Everything just tasted very plain and it feels like it wasn't at all value for money. I tried to contact the restaurant, I received a reply a day later with a promise of a phone call. .....but sadly that phone call never arrived. I've had a good meal from here a couple of times before but this was a big let down.

Really horrible food unfortunately. We looked at the reviews of 4 star upward and thought it would be a lovely dinner idea. Really disappointed with the taste and look. Saga loo tasted like it was bland, definitely frozen and reheated. I’ve never seen saga loo look like it! Not a pleasant experience and would not recommend!

Calm and quiet. Clean and friendly. Tasty food. Extensive menu. Lovely night out. Peshawari naan and lassi is a great choice. The hot towel and mango sweets at the end are a nice finishing touch. I would certainly come again.
