Poppins Restaurant & Cafe - Basingstoke in Basingstoke and Deane

Came on 02/04/2024 spent £30 food was very lousy burger was really dry chips the same had a banana split 7.10 for 1 banana 2 scoops of ice cream and abit of whipped cream We came about 4pm no one else inside the building yet the service was still slow Won’t be back unfortunately ashame as a kid I remember loving this place how times change…..

I paid £30.90 for the brunch and it wasn’t worth the price at all and then I bought a quarter pounder cheeseburger and that was very dry and bland and also got the banana Sunday and that was even more disappointing I’m just so upset and I used to go to popins often and hadn’t been in a while and was incredibly awful I was so disappointed and honestly feel like i have been rob with the price of it all

it didn't even turn up yet said delivered ... absolutely useless

First class service and good food

Great restaurant for straightforward food. Good choice on menu, service is always quick, staff are very pleasant and efficient. Food is tasty and hot. Prices are very competitive. Highly recommended for a good sit down meal or breakfast.

arrived cold placed order at 11.35 and delivery at 13.08 it was 1 jacket potato! called restaurant who said it was collected at 12.45 and only takes 20 minutes to walk to the restaurant, why did it take so long? to prepare and deliver?

We ordered from Poppins via deliveroo. My manager who has a severe allergy to kidney beans was sent a jacket potato with chilli con carne on it rather that what she actually ordered. Her order was a jacket potato with chicken curry. Poppins did nothing but argue with her down the phone - one man actually hung up on her. They have been trying to blame Deliveroo for putting the wrong food on her jacket potato???? The manager of Poppins phone her and was extremely rude and disregarding towards her. I will NEVER step foot in here or waste my money here again.

Perhaps one of the best Cafés in Basingstoke given the great value for money. The food is delicious and the customer service is exceptional. Its location is great and I highly recommend visiting this place.

Staff are polite and attentive , food is of a good standard and cooked fresh to order as you would expect 🙂 .

Excellent service, very friendly staff, always welcoming, the food is top quality, and very reasonable prices, would 100% recomend visiting poppins if coming into town.

Enjoyed breakfast here. Coffee is not covered in the prices quoted. So a £7,** ended costing £11,**. All the same it was a good plate of breakfast

A great place to have breakfast when visiting the market. Staff are so friendly and efficient.

I stopped here today for coffee and lunch with friends. The young man who came out to greet us made us extremely welcome and provided us with friendly service during our visit. A lovely spot on the Market Square to sit and watch the world go by!

I love this place. The food is great. The staff even better. So, friendly. They go out of their way to try and remember you. I must remember to take some cash in next time and leave a good tip. Brilliant place!

Second time I have used this cafe, mid range price of a £10 for the cooked breakfast but comes with tea and toast , all cooked well, extremely good service, will be coming back

This place would deserve 5 stars- potentially. However, the fact that there was no lactose free milk upset me . My mother is lactose intolerant and therefore an alternative should be provided to people with these health conditions. ( no loves… semi- skimmed milk doesn’t mean lactose free……) .

Sausage quality wasn’t great very cheap for what you actually paid bacon was good and can’t really go wrong with mushroom and tomato’s fried bed was nice everything came lovely and hot including the can of coke

What a friendly welcoming atmosphere, the food was great, hot and tasty washed down with a great cup of tea However your best asset by far is the young lad with the moustache and glasses (I'm so sorry I don't know his name) his customer and table service was outstanding. Always smiling and walking older customers arm to the door, He is a real asset to your business. If he ever wants a change of job get in touch lol. The staff are probably the friendliest in all of Basingstoke. They'll welcome you and try to meet your every request (just ask). It might feel rushed, but they really do care about customer experience. I once made a comment about something on my plate, they quickly replaced my entire order with profuse apologies and without making any excuses. Service is reasonably fast, and for quality is consistently good each time. One minor quibble I have (sorry! 😅) is that the knives for customers need sharpening. The last few times we have visited, the knives have been so blunt that it's hard to cut toast easily! There is a cosy family atmosphere, especially in the colder months. Tables, chairs and floors are kept very clean, which is great.

Found glass in my tuna baguette and didn’t even get an apology and was still made to pay for it and all I got was a free drink…

Was very busy when we visited on Remembrance Sunday but despite this the service was excellent, our order was taken quickly and the food arrived promptly. Would recommend.

Busy Saturday lunch, service was great, food delivered in good time. Quality was OK, strange menu pricing, £3 extra for chips with the burger is a big uplift and would assume it comes with chips... all in all a classic cafe and they were very busy but no issue getting food out in a timely manner.

Been a few times now and is always amazing.. the food is delicious,, cooked with real passion,, the staff are friendly and welcoming,, the place is clean and tidy with a very relaxing atmosphere,, Best food in Basingstoke by far,, Wish had the money to eat here everyday lol.. Really nice cafe. Very busy but service is friendly. Sometimes a bit slow as they were very busy. The portions are big and food is classic cafe food. The only things are I asked for a buttered roll and received an un toasted burger bun. Definitely a difference. Cafes should have standard buttered white roll it’s quite common, a burger bun is very different texture and this was a processed one which didn’t taste good unless toasted. Also the fruit smoothie was very watery and had no taste, definitely frozen berries and fruits. The price is decent.

Food was good but the containers used for jacket potatoes aren't very secure. Everything in the bag was soaked in butter (this has happened multiple times before), the packaging, the bag, my hands. We are all one with the butter now

It was very busy and lively. Went on a Sunday for breakfast. Large choice of dishes for all appetite. Good selection of hot drinks, juice, milkshake. Not too expensive so don't expect good quality sausages... The rest was good.

Really quite upset. Normally come to Poppins with my partner every weekend/fortnight for breakfast and the waiter who’s there is amazing and really attentive. Sadly he wasn’t here today and my partner and I came in and sat down for 25 minutes and no one came to take our order at all so we walked out. Not even a sorry or anything. Shows how one person can really uplift somewhere…

Staff are always welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. Very good food and portion size. Lots of choice. ALWAYS first rate cleanliness and hygiene.

Family friendly and brilliant service. We went there today for lunch after we went to watch Zog at the hay market. It’s right next door and the staff made us feel so welcome, so friendly and approachable and really made effortless effort with the kids, they clearly like their job! Food was just what we wanted, good ole fashioned cafe food, large menu with kids choices. Place is nicely done up as well!

A rare good experience with Just Eat, who, behind Ryanair have the world's worse customer service. Food hot and fresh and delivered on time. A rare success.

Pre ordered, spent £60 and it arrived an hour late. People missed their breakfast cause it was so late.

Prices up and quality down. The breakfast sausages are just vile, tasteless pap. Shame as it used to be a really nice place to go.
