Good food, great service at a very reasonable price. Well worth a visit. A friendly local pub with a warm and relaxed atmosphere. As well as being child friendly it is also dog friendly.

A nice and friendly village pub in Woolton Hill area of Newbury. Had a very delicious roast Chicken with all the trimmings. The Yorkshire pudding was really yummy 😋. The apple crumble was nice too. It also serves a variety of curry dishes, and they did look very good, so will definitely give it a try when I'm next there.

Good food, friendly bar staff, nice conservatory which is where we sat. Garden area was nice, unfortunately didn’t sit outside as was winter. Only lost 1 star due to car park being small

Stopped off here for Sunday lunch and was amazed at the service and food. Friendly service and selection, they even filled up our travel bottles with ice and water for us for our 3 hour drive. When we are next down, we are definitely going to stop off here again. Thank you 😊

The food was excellent, and cooked fresh. The price was average and good portions. The one problem was when a member of staff stood outside and their smoke wafted in!

Found you after a quick Google maps search of the local area for pubs after our son's football match on a Sunday afternoon. We only popped in for a few drinks but what a lovely little pub, very welcoming and a great selection of drinks. Food that was coming out to other tables looked lovely. Looking forward to trying the food when we return for another visit

Booked a table of 8 this evening, we were early and they got the table ready no problem. Food was absolutely delicious, really impressed. Fabulous service and a lovely local pub vibe. We would love to come back if we're in the area again.

We have just recently moved into the area and have had several meals at the Rampant Cat and keep going back for more. The food is freshly cooked and delicious and the staff are very friendly and can't do enough for you. We look forward to our next visit.

Brought my wife and Aunt for dinner today. They had the Roast BEEF. Not really roast beef, it was sandwich slices off beef. Unbelievable didn’t want to say anything. I was to busy laughing at the Gaul of serving it. Never seen that before

We went as a group of six for Sunday lunch, it was one of the best Sunday lunches we have had in a long time. The beef cooked perfect, so tender, plenty of veg . The puddings so different from the norm.The staff were so very friendly and helpful. The pub had such a nice vibe we will definitely be back again.

Very friendly and accomadating, good food . One slight negative was food did not come all at the same time and the gravy was on the meat, which meant it had started cooling before the last meal served.🤷‍♂️

Fabulous owners who make you feel like you're a regular, wether it's your first time or the 100th! Good selection of drinks and amazing food! The fajitas are perfect!

We had planned to come here for lunch after a walk at The Chase and weren't disappointed. We were greeted with very friendly staff and went for a garden table. We both chose tuna sandwiches with salad and fries, food was well presented and tasty. If we ever cone back for a walk, we will return. Oh and by the way pub is Dog Friendly

We had the Indian meal takeaway deal and were so pleased we did. It was a tasty treat during Tier 4 for Covid. The samosas are crispy - fantastic, not the normal floppy things we have had at other places.

We stopped off at the Rampant Cat for dinner on our way home from a day out. We called up made a last minute booking on-route and were lucky enough to be seated out in the garden on arrival. The menu choices weren't huge but there was enough on there to please even picky eaters. My husband had the burger and fries which he said was lovely. I opted for the fish, chips and mushy peas and was so glad I did. The fish was amazing, the batter extremely light crispy and not greasy at all. We were informed by the young lady who worked there that it was made to order using Doombar beer straight from the tap. The portion sizes were also very generous and we couldn't manage a dessert. The staff were fantastic, informative and enthusiastic about the food, pub and were genuinely lovely. You can tell it is a family run place and there is a lot of pride and care that goes into making sure customers are happy. We will definitely be making a point of detouring to the Rampant Cat again.

Popped by while housesitting in the area to support businesses. Attracted by the name. Had drinks outside in the car park (not so great view). Social distancing in place. Friendly, good service, good prices, good choice of beer.

Be warned we had two industrial Cladding screws in each of our front tyres (annoyingly of which had only been replaced 2 weeks ago!). Cannot be definite it was the car park but was informed by a friend in the area that the pub is used by a lot of builders on Friday lunchtimes. Of course the pub has no liability for the car park but it would have been nice to receive a response to my first email when advising them. Shall not be visiting again. Food was good but lukewarm, we were the only table of 6 eating and it was not busy, so not sure why this would be.

27/02/2020 was my first visit to The Rampant Cat with my husband after a long and lovely day... Arrived just before 6pm. Got a warm welcome from barman Nigel. Cosy pub. Several seating areas. Great menu selection and Special board. Food was FANTASTIC ! Look forward to my next visit.

Only popped in for a quick bite to eat,warm welcome from barman Ordered two Scampi with well cooked chips (wife doesn't like soggy ones) and have to say one of the best Scampis in a very long time,crispy,hot and chips done to perfection.1st time visit in a very long time but will be back

Went in December with a friend and my son to the Rampant Cat. In short - local pub - reasonable selection of ales. Beers kept well - food selection ok and reflective of being a local pub. - food quality very acceptable, pricing reasonable - warm fire, comfortable seating In terms of value for money no complaints. The Cat wont win any culinary awards, so if you are looking for `a la Carte` this place might not be what you are looking for IMHO but we had a good night and is a good honest English Pub Well done

We thoroughly enjoyed a family lunch at the Rampant Cat on Sunday. We had not been to the pub before and were delighted to find a cosy pub with excellent food and such friendly and obliging staff. We all enjoyed our lunch - Granny and Grandpa, Son and Daughter-in-law and two very young children. Thank you for looking after us so well, we will be back.

I have never been in such a welcoming place before, the welcome from staff and customers was second to none, it felt better than being at your own local. Beautiful characterful establishment. I can not say enough about thos place amazing totally amazing.

We went off piste to visit this pub because we loved the name. Lovely, quiet village location. It has outdoor seating and serves a good range of pub grub. Staff were friendly and the pub has a lovely old feel to it. Great walks around here too.

Booked a roast dinner for my family of four. Booked for 1pm but got stuck in London and phoned ahead to change booking. The pub is a true local. It was quiet when we arrived and chose to sit in the bar. We were quickly served and well looked after. The roast beef was plentiful, probably the largest serving of beef I have had. Lots of roast potatoes and veg. Beer was good Tribute. A lovely local pub and really should be busier for the price and quality of the roast

My wife and I got stranded due to a big dumping of snow. We managed to make it to the carpark outside The Rampant Cat before our car wouldn't go any further. Best thing for us because we got to meet the staff and patrons at this pub. Drinks were served chilled but the hospitality was so warm. Staff and patrons helped to arrange accommodation at a nearby Inn as well as transport us after sharing a few stories and laughs. We are so blessed to have met you. Thank you.

Friendly village pub with good food

My husband and I stopped in on the off chance they had a table on a Sunday after the Rememberance Day Service in Newbury. It was already booked up but they still had a table in the bar and that was fine with us. The service and staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very tasty and the portions were generous and well presented. We will definitely be back. It's a villiage pub and they don't try and over stretch themselves and that means what they do they do well. There were several families that day so they are clearly family friendly and while I didn't see any dogs I have been told they are dog friendly too with a nice garden. Glad that there is another lovely pub in the area.

We tried The Rampant Cat today as it wasn’t far from A34 ok our journey from the New Forest back to the midlands.From the outside the pub looks like any small other village pub and on the inside it’s clean but looks a little tired.The staff were friendly and helpful but they had no vegetarian option for Sunday lunch, if you wanted a veggie option you needed to book it two days in advance.So my wife was offered a vegetarian risotto that wasn’t on the menu as a substitute.The dining area is in a conservatory part out the back of the pub which again was clean but could do with being updated.Most tables had reserved cards on them so I think the pub gets busy on a Sunday.The food came reasonably quickly, it was presented well and tasted ok. It was nothing fantastic but for a stop off as a one off it was good.For two drinks (one alcoholic), a Sunday dinner and a risotto it came to £26.Its worth nipping in of your driving nearby but I wouldn’t travel a great distance just for their Sunday lunch.

The Rampant Cat has been our local for nearly 22 years and on Thursday we move away from the area. We will very much miss this village pub with all its characters, friendly service and wonderful fish & chips. No food mon-wed but always a cheerful atmosphere with good service. Dog friendly and family friendly but never too many of either...

Went on a Saturday evening. Although busy, service was first class and food excellent. Great atmosphere reflecting all one would want in a country pub. Prices were on the lower side, they could probably charge more for what they serve. Great experience all round.

Beer woz ok food is good so ive been told. Garden is a few steps down so access for disabled or kids is gonna be a struggle

I ordered a burger and chips .i told the girl that took my order that I did not want any onion ,onion rings, or coleslaw , because I detest onion ! 30 mins later a burger arrived and the first bite I had I could taste onion . I spent the entire meal picking out all the chopped onion out of the meat! I phoned the manager and he just fobbed me off with sorry ! At £17 + I am not very impressed as I had gone with 2 friends I did not fancy waiting 30 mins for a replacement and eating alone

Alarm bells should have rang when I called to book for lunch only to be answered by a male who sounded totally uninterested, however I ignored that and assumed they must be busy, how wrong I was! On arrival we were 'greeted' by I believe the same male who turned out to be a youth with absolutely zero charisma. We explained we had booked then an awkward silence followed until he gruffly asked another youth (female) to see what we wanted, her attitude was as bad as his, no offer of drinks and when we asked where we should sit, she shrugged and said 'anywhere', by this time and judging by the lack of atmosphere in a near empty pub we realised we had made a mistake. When we were told that the items we wanted to order were sold out we decided that was it and made our escape. If you're looking for a 'friendly and welcoming' country pub this is NOT it. Note to owner: Send your adolescent staff on a customer service course before you lose any more custom!

Tried a few times recently but too often most beers have run out and no sign of landlord to sort out.

Visited whilst staying locally , well looked after by bar staff and waitress . Food was lovely , no rushed and service with a smile nd reasonable
