Our waitress Anna was so lovely and welcoming and the atmosphere was amazing as always.

I gave it another chance as it is my local. They do not seem to like vegetables as most meals have mixed leaves. Pinot Grigio wine £29.95 , on Amazon Fresh for £8. Ordered harissa chicken and fish n chips. Waited about 30-40 mins , and at 6.15pm it was not busy. Meals came and the fish n chips were cold. No waiters to be seen, so I had to go into the kitchen where all four were having a chat. Replacement fish n chips came within 10 mins. This is not my first disappointment, but it will be my last.

We visit the Holly Blue a few times a year with several people who have allergies (dairy and nuts). We have always enjoyed ourselves and the food. However, recently policy has been changed. When we visited on Monday (April 21st 2025) one of our family members had an allergy and some sensitivities. When ordering the allergies were made very clear with help of a tablet indicating the allergies per meal. They decided what they wanted to eat (a hamburger) and when wanting to order the meal a little altered (without sauce & onions) the staff notified us of the change in policy. This change meant when someone has an allergy nó changes can be made to the meal. We were very dissapointed in this. The member of staff seemed to be new so we decided to check with a more senior member of staff, she explained that this change has been made company wide & they sadly weren't allowed to make exceptions. They had been having a lot of issues with customers due to this change. She went to speak to the kitchen to see what other options were available. Sadly due to the allergy & sensitivities the meal our family member ended up with was fries and a plain hamburger patty (as these could be ordered as an add on). If you don't have allergies or issues with certain foods I would definitely still recommend eating here, but otherwise you're better off finding a different pub or restaurant to eat at. This review in no way reflects to the staff of the Holly Blue. They were amazing and working with horrible policy set up by head office who clearly do not have allergies.

Went to enjoy a Sunday dinner but I was very disappointed. The food was stale a practically cold. I won't be going again.

This review concerns a highly unsatisfactory dining experience at Holly Blue. Individuals with nut allergies or rapeseed oil intolerance should be aware that this establishment may not be suitable for them. My attempts to request modifications to standard menu items, specifically a salad without dressing, steak without butter, and a burger without a bun, were all declined. Due to the pub's apparent inflexibility regarding dietary adjustments, I was unable to dine there and was compelled to leave. Conversely, I wish to commend The White Hart at Overton. Their service was exceptional; they readily accommodated my requests for menu alterations without any hesitation, ensuring that I could enjoy my meal without concern. I wholeheartedly recommend The White Hart for their accommodating and considerate approach. It is regrettable that Holly Blue was unwilling to cater to a simple dietary need, a situation that their staff reportedly acknowledged with apologies. The staff really tried their best but had to adhere to the bizarre policies bestowed upon them however antiquated and ridiculous.

We were a group of 8 celebrating a birthday with guests from Germany. They were blown away with the service and food. Debbie was an absolute star and looked after us superbly from beginning to end. The food was lovely, as always and great care was taken over any allergies. We are local and love the breakfast on a weekend as well. Thanks to all the staff.

Party of 10 from 3 to 83 and service, food and play facilities for the little ones was fantastic !! The olds could chat knowing the little ones were safe in the play area as large windows overlooking !! Carvery was the best I’ve had in a long time and portions of meat were very generous !!! Staff were polite,friendly and above all attentive !!! The redheaded waitress did not stop smiling and so friendly as was carvery chef !!!

We visited as a party of 7 on Mother’s Day - I had pre-booked, and just as well as it was very busy. So busy in fact that we had to wait in line to be seated for around 10 minutes. I had flagged in our booking that my son is coeliac and having been to the pub before we knew that there were several things on the menu he could have. The waitress was very helpful and showed us how to access the menu online for nutritional information. It took a very long time to get to this point however as service was slow and staff were clearly run off their feet. When we did get to order we decided to order our drinks at the same time as we’d already been there for a while! Unfortunately when it came to food, many things were out of stock that were suitable for coeliacs. No nachos. No gf buns. No roast chicken. Eventually my son went for the roast beef only to then be told that because they had run out of red cabbage they couldn’t let him have it as they can’t make modifications to foods for people with intolerance/ allergy! The fact he wouldn’t have eaten it anyway didn’t matter. It took another age for our drinks to arrive and we had to remind them about the glass of water for my daughter. Finally the food arrived. Mine and my mums fish and chips was mostly batter and very oily. My dad’s roast pork looked more like pulled pork as it was clearly the remnants of what they had left. The burgers were overcooked and thin. We decided to skip pudding as we’d already been there for over 2 hours at this point and doubted they’d have anything suitable for coeliacs anyway. We were really disappointed. They were clearly understaffed, and overbooked. Most disappointing though was the lack of options for coeliacs - we try to make him feel he’s not missing out too much wherever we go but this just highlighted to him all the things he couldn’t have. We won’t be going again unless they sort this out.

Often visit for a drink. The pub itself is nice but the bar service is terrible. Too often you stand waiting with bar staff noticing you but still they serve other people first who have just rolled up! Good bar staff notice who has been waiting longest, even when really busy. This and lack of serving staff lets the place down plus price of a pint is outrageous!

My friend and I came for our lunch and had a lovely time - we sat outside in the sunshine and had our lunch bought out to us. The staff were friendly and accommodated all our requirements. I will definitely be coming back!

Very overpriced for a subpar quality of pub food and not a very big portion, £15 for a hotdog!! Would not recommend for anything other than a quick pint if passing through.

We didn't have any food, just a couple of drinks for mother's day. Outside area was nice, service was pretty quick considering how busy they were.

Honestly, my visit was a 5 star trip. Me and my partner went in for dinner and the quiz night, and had nothing but an amazing night. The food was amazing, I had the pie and mash while my other half went for the burger and the food came with amazing table service. We're going back again for date night in a few weeks for all the above!

I popped in here for some lunch as it was a convenient location. It turns out it’s a really lovely pub. I was welcomed with a big smile by the gorgeous Vicky. She really adds a shine to the venue. The food was also really good, in particular the mushroom tacos, I’m not veggie but was amazed by how delicious they were. I have no idea how they do it, but it was like eating meat. It’s a lovely atmosphere and great decoration. I’ll be coming back on my next trip to the area.

Great place, great food. You can order through the QR code on your table. Unfortunately staff and order coordination is lacking. 8 minutes after I preferred through the QR code, the waitress came to me asking if I was ready to order. I presume these are teething issues, but something they will need to fix
