Vespers Restaurant in Basingstoke and Deane

The waitress gave excellent service. Food was very tasty but, only disappointment was the menu choice could have been better & some items on the menu were not available, so making it difficult to choose anything we liked

Had a lovely evening meal here with family. Very full menu with a good selection and everything cooked to perfection.

Slow service and food, tiny portions, staffing disorganised, very pricey, whole restaurant filing complaints throughout meal. Staff claiming fine dining as reason for above. Def not fine dining. Free wine given as apology but left hungry. Avoid

Food lovely if you are a mouse!! Just not enough in main course to fill you up - chips - 1/2 a dozen if you are lucky!!!

Came here for a early valentine's meal, the food was faultless as were the two waitress who served us throughout our 4 course meal. The food is the best tasting, I've reviewed for a while, can't believe I've not tried this place before, I'm totally amazed there are not more great reviews on the place. It's great quality food and service.

Plain and bland and from the freezer! I can't say much more than that really. All in all a poor experience and this hotel and restaurant should be a 1 star. POOR

Not fine dining at all, just very average. Staff friendly and attentive enough, but generally the food was slightly overcooked, dry and lacking sauce. It would do better to take 'fine dining' out of the title to manage people's expectations.

Went for a breakfast meeting to this hotel. The service was great and the choices for breakfast would suit anyone. Pleasant surroundings, hot food, great service what more could you ask

yes from a long day in the office and either sandwich's or canteen lunch vespers was not a bad menu selection and a welcome selection of food

We had 2 set menu dinners. The first day we had soup of the day - vegetable - ~Gammon Steak main and sticky toffee pudding - the 2nd day we had Gammon hock tortelinii followed by baked Haddock and Chocolote pecan brownie and ice cream. Breakfast each morning - great variety of full english - yoghurt croissant fruits etc - good good, very pleasant staff.

The food was excellent we all enjoyed our choices from a very good varied menu, bearing in mind my son is a sous chef and the whole family are foodies this is high praise, well done to the excellent waitress who was doing everything with limited help I think she was called Helena we left a generous tip which she hugely deserved.

Excellent food. Great choice. Friendly staff and the waiter seemed miserable to start with, but flirt with him a little and be cheeky and he'll be like putty in your hands!

I have already submitted a review for this restaurant under my review of the Apollo Hotel. But generally this restaurant is okay. The service doesn't live up to the price and complaints aren't dealt with well. (Cold medium rare steak sent back is just returned after being cooked to well-done)

Industrial strength mediocrity, plain, drab, unexciting. Seen better from hospital canteens. Understaffed, slow service. Poor portions, bland vegetables, unexciting menu.

Really excellent 3 course meal but slow service. Think another waitress wouldn't go amiss as she was run off her feet serving the whole restaurant alone. There was a Christmas function in the main brasserie next door so I think hotel guests were all eating in this restaurant instead so it was full. We were here on a hotel package that included a 3 course dinner so I can't comment on prices or value but it was extremely tasty. Choice was just 3 or 4 things per course but again could be because we were on a hotel package. I imagine they have an a la carte menu too. On the second night because my friend and I are vegetarians and the menu choices were the same we asked if there was anything else we could have instead of eating the same dinner again and the chef was very accommodating and again it was delicious..

You must eat here, the food is divine, the service excellent and plenty of choice on the menu.The Monkfish with Cockels was excellent.

To start, I loved it! My wife and I enjoyed 3 courses of quality food, each I could not fault in the slightest. Being welcomed and looked after by the most friendly and quite nutty Italian server added to the evening. A very friendly and warm man, making you feel welcomed. Enjoyed my first experience of pigeon (starter) and monkfish (main), both I have wanted to try and glad I chose this opportunity to sample them. My wife and I chose separate desserts and shared with one another a thoroughly enjoyed both, a perfect ending to our evening. Would recommend if in the Basingstoke area.

Me & Hubby eat here every year on my Birthday & on are wedding Annervasry we stay in the honeymoon suite & eat in Vespers & I feel like I'm treated like the Queen during my stay.The Food Something's looks to pretty to eat, next time we go I will get some photos to add- Birthday in March, so not Long! The resturant looks pretty (is a room in the Apollo Hotel) is always clean & is very peaceful so you can talk to each other. (Great for Romantic night) The only thing is I wish it was cheaper so I could eat there more, but in all honesty is worth every penny!

We dined here for a friends birthday. The table was booked for 8pm and when we arrived there were two other tables occupied and both were finishing up to leave.The atmosphere was non existent and we were made to feel that the if we weren't there then the staff could chip off early.Everyone enjoyed their food and I couldn't really find fault with this.I don't think I would rush back because for the price there are other nicer places in the area.

Have eaten here a few times-the food and service is fine-the restaurant itself can be a little austere, if its not got many others dining at the same time.

We have been going to Vespers for many years and find the whole expereince great.Service is good, food excellent. Prices good for the qualityNothing is to much trouble, phone before you go if you wish something adjusted within reason on the menuJust do not sit at the table for two towards tohe back of the restarant as it can become chilly, however, some people may like that.

Absolutely nothing to dislike - great atmosphere, fabulous food, delicious wine, entertaining waiter - what more could you possibly ask for?
