Miller & Carter in Basingstoke and Deane

Food & server (Jade) were excellent on our recent visit to the Basingstoke Restaurant. Would not hesitate to visit again!

Lovely food. The starter of prawns was disappointing though despite having to pay a £2 supplement but the steak was cooked beautifully. The staff and service was great. Would have liked to be sat further into the restaurant as it was date night and we were surrounded by families (nothing against families we have our own children!).

The meal and service were first class.

The food was good and cooked as ordered. We did feel that some savings were being made, however. As an example, for the price of the garlic mushrooms we'd expect the bread to be baked in the restaurant, but it seemed to be value supermarket style instead. The service was also fine but a bit casual for the price point of the restaurant. For example, signalling the attention of our waiter was met with "you alright?" and check-ins were about "you guys", which didn't feel in keeping with the M&C brand. It felt like there were a few bits reminiscent of the restaurant's previous era as a Toby, which weren't what you'd expect from a M&C. The bouncy floorboards near the Pass for example, or the part-scraped off Covid social distancing floor sticker still at the front entrance. We're now more than two years on from these stickers being used. The lighting was good and atmosphere pleasant. It was quite quiet while we were there so maybe there's more of a buzz on busier nights. Our experience was generally fine and is definitely a good option for a decent meal in Basingstoke.

Amazing service, my Partners Fillet came a little under cooked and came back swiftly corrected and looking like a brand new dish. Amazing recovery.

Visited the Basingstoke M&C on Saturday evening. Very disappointed with our mail meal, we both had the 30 day aged ribeye 12 oz steak. They were both very thin and full of sinuses. The onion loaf was soggy and under cooked. And apart from the fresh cooked hot fries everything else was Luke warm. We brought it to the attention of our waiter and got no response whatsoever grrrrr With 2 starters and 2 mains coming to over £80 not a cheap meal to get a sub standard meal

Have been here many times and the service and food is always top notch. You won't get a better steak anywhere.

We was served by Michaland what a phenomenal service from both him and the chef. My partner and I were astonished at how quick the food was brought out and how polite and respectful he was couldn’t complement them enough, I was more than happy to tip. Will definitely be returning

James was absolutely amazing! Can't wait to come back and see him again. Try not to spill anything next time (honestly gave us a good laugh and he was so lovely and amazing! Didn't even care made me laugh)

Service was OK. 3 out 5 meals ok.... other 2 not great..... & 1 half eaten.... Onion loaf was soggy..... other times its be quite crispy & Yummy......

Absolutely terrible place I have never been to this restaurant before today when I walked in they racially discriminated me and told me I was not welcome and they refused service to me people say there’s a dress code in this place yet I walked in in my gent jacket Tommy Hilfiger shirt with my Rolex Daytona so I definitely did not disrespect there dress code this place is racist and I’m unbelievably unhappy with this and I will make it my business to have this sorted properly and to be clear this was the manager that refused me I will be going further with this miller and carter I demand you resolve this

Fancy pants gaff for a top bit of Charlie. Waiter was stupendously knowledgeable and helpful and also had some very nice bins and a suave French accent which added to the entertainment value. Food was first class, it’s a special occasion place I would say with the bill for two just over hundred and sixty sovs. Don’t bother if you are a rug munching vegatrian.

Took my son here for his birthday as he really wanted to go! Now the food was really good and the staff were very helpful and polite. I had the 12oz ribeye and it was delicious melted in the mouth. The reason for my 3 stars was to be honest I thought it was over priced, yes the quality of steak was decent but I think any decent resturant could serve a good well cooked steak! The place its self was a little tatty in places with the table we sat on reminding me of something you get in a local pub! The place is pretty big to and not a cozy setting at all. Think it's probably been hyped up on social media. To be honest I would probably not go back. For the cost I would look for a nice country pub maybe something listed in the Michelin guide even without any stars I think you would end up getting a much more enjoyable meal and food that's prepared with a little more out of the box thinking!

Overpriced dog food! Small portions, cheap meat, and cheesy sauce they think constitutes fine dining. If you've eaten at "real" top restaurants, you know this is total rubbish compared. Never again!

Our meal was fantastic best steak I’ve ever had , what topped it off for us was the amazing service by James I have never experienced such amazing service in any other restaurant he really made our experience great you could see how passionate he was and knew all about the steaks will Definitely be revisiting soon.

Amazing food and very welcoming service.

We had gone this summer for dinein at a table and gave it a try again tonight for take away: ladies staff are rude and unfriendly; food was mediocre ( the hot wings were submerged with extra spicy cheap sauce ) and overpriced; to top it all they do not offer throw away cutlery with their take away…very poor experience and our last time in this tucked away place.

The food is always excellent and the service can be very good albeit a little slow when the restaurant is busy.

We had a belated Mother’s Day meal on Saturday and had a great experience. Daryl was an excellent waiter; attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, we splurged for the sharing platter - delicious. All in all, a good afternoon!

Went there for our wedding anniversary, had a lovely meal, had good service, and really enjoyed the visit.

My two adult children treated me to a mother's day meal on Sunday. We had an amazing time. Our waiter couldn't have been more attentive. He was friendly, professional and nothing was too much trouble. I just wish I'd got his name. The meal itself was delicious. We all had 3 courses and every plate was cleared, (something that I don't ever remember happening in the past). Highly recommended.

Booked the restaurant for Mother’s Day 4 adults. 2 months before date Was very disappointed that their seated us next to the toilets with children under 6 on each table was more like a child party . I did ask to move but the waitress Ignored the request. And by 2am the restaurant run out of Vegan Options . Normal go here every year for Mother’s Day and Christmas. Not happy this time Very disappointed

Always such a treat except on Mothers day. Courteous enough to take my deposit and remind me through various channels that my time was limited to 2 hours, yet on arrival that advertise mother day special wasn't actually available due to logistics. That would've been appreciated to be communicated as well.

Took a friend to dinner, the house red was very nice and the steaks were cooked exactly the way we liked it. The side were well prepared and importantly everything was hot when it all arrived. The number of chicken wings as a starter were disappointing, as I would expect to see about 6 minimum.

Food always great which is why I go regularly, however the staff where rude and intimidating. And it ruined what was supposed to be a birthday celebration. No need to stare at us all night and a smile costs nothing.

We’ve been many times previously, however this has to be the best! We had pulled pork doughnut with beef dripping sauce, and we chose to have a Chateaubriand which was cooked to perfection! Pricey but definitely worth it

We had Rump Steak cooked medium from the special menu, steak was cooked perfectly but sadly not as tender as we would have hoped it to be considering the price but in its favour very tasty, afraid we have purchased better rump steaks from Lidl at a fraction of the price. Been a while since we visited Miller and Carter Restaurant due to affordability and sadly it could be a while before we visit again based on this visit. In the restaurant all the staff we met were all very professional, friendly, helpful and attentive.

Great lunch again, Ribeye steak with fantastic. Never had a bad steak here so would recommend. Fantastic service from Jade as well. Fantastic service from James as well.

I have been coming here quite regularly for years. We had the delight of James as our waiter this evening. He is knowledgeable of the food and drinks, great character and was attentive to our needs throughout our meal from start to finish, always checking in on us if we needed anything else.
