Went to the Noel diamond tribute last night - it included a meal - the show and the food were excellent. Everything was served promptly and the waiting staff were brilliant. We stayed overnight which was lovely - a brilliant night out

A classic, elegant, and tranquil typical English old-style hotel in the meadows. Wonderful decors and breakfast (better than most restaurants), also perfect view from the windows. Service was really classy and friendly, the whole package came to me as a serendipity -- didn't expect to find this hidden gem in the middle of Basingstoke!

Typical English hotel as you would expect. At least visually. Unfortunately, the rooms have not been renovated to current standards and the overall cleanliness still leaves room for improvement. (Several cobwebs in the dining room, carpets have a lot of stains throughout the house, smell also very pungent. Windows and window sills not wiped.) was there for the second time (for work) and have to say that last year, 2023, it was even “better” was. It's enough for one or two nights, but I don't think the 4 stars and the prices I see online are justified. The look is really special and has an English flair, as does the interior design in the lobby. But that was it again.

We stayed with a group of friends to celebrate a 50th school reunion. We had arranged a package for private dining (our own space to chat and socialise) plus a meal. Before we arrived Christina helped us plan the day, keeping in contact and responding to questions promptly and efficiently! From the moment we arrived to the moment we left things could not have received better service, everyone was helpful and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Andrea for your warm welcome and assistance. The food was top notch, thank you Mohammed for your attentive service during our meal!! The ambience was relaxing and amazing (the hotel sits in its own well maintained grounds.) Breakfast was well organised the food fresh and well presented! Thank you Sebastian and your colleagues for serving us so efficiently! We have already decided to meet up here again in a couple of years time. I am already looking forward to it.

I visited this hotel solely for a medical appointment, not as an overnight guest, and was surprised by the unwelcome interference from the hotel's reception. After experiencing a minor delay due to unclear parking arrangements - no clear signs between Hampshire council and hotel’s parking, the reception manager Kai involved himself in my healthcare matters, which he had no right to influence. This inappropriate action added unnecessary stress to what was already a tense situation. The expectation for hotel staff, especially in settings hosting medical services, should be to assist and facilitate, not to disrupt.

We decided to eat here as our friends were staying in the hotel. Best decision we could have made. The service was excellent from all the staff, from the bar staff to the waiting staff. The food was so good I can’t stop thinking about it. I had the white onion soup which was served with a warm cheese scone, followed by the beef ragu. Both courses were very tasty, and I can recommend eating here.

This is a former Victorian mansion build in 1892 and extended to form a good sized hotel in pleasant grounds. Like so many of these hotels, it specialises in Weddings and similar large events or conferences/ meetings. From the reviews it obviously does this very well. Inside, panelling is much in evidence and there are some lovely details such as the rather grand fireplace in the bar. The restaurant is light and pleasant with views out to the gardens. There is plenty of parking and good access nearby from the M3. Basingstoke centre is barely 10 minutes away. We stayed at Audleys Wood Hotel for three nights in one of their older bedrooms with an adjoining sitting room and bathroom. You could call it a small suite. The room, called Jane Austen, was a little dated but comfortable with all that we needed for our stay. The adjoining sitting room was quite large with two settees, a coffee table and a slightly random assortment of other furniture. It had a large, modern smart TV. The rooms were rather overheated for our taste but that was soon adjusted. The bathroom was modern and very much as you'd expect in a 4-star hotel. Over the three days the service and staff attitude was excellent. Everyone without exception gave the very best of service. I want to emphasise this as it was a feature of our stay. Meal wise, breakfast was really good and our favourite meal here. We did have a sandwich lunch one day and this was very well done with the offer of a pot of tea. Dinner we were less impressed by. The a la carte menu was as expensive as you'd expect but, for us, didn't seem particularly enticing with less choice than we would have expected. A little disappointed, we went for the bar / lounge menu but weren't bowled over by that either. Our choices were a bit underwhelming, frankly. We didn't eat dinner in the hotel again, as a result. All in all, a nice relaxing break in this hotel, part of the Hand Picked Hotel group. Our slight disappointment warranted the 4-stars I've given, whereas the service alone would be a certain 5-stars otherwise. Don't get me wrong, we liked the hotel and it wouldn't stop us staying with Hand Picked Hotels again. All this has been fed back to the hotel directly and I've just had a good personal and positive email response. They ask you to complete a pretty detailed survey after staying which is a plus point.

A long overdue birthday present from daughter. Had a very tasty afternoon tea with a friend. Food delicious, plenty of savoury as well as beautifully displayed sweet selection. The apricot scones were amazing, went well with the jam and cream. A good variety of teas to choose from, although I kept forgetting my decaffeinated tea was made with leaves and not bags - I have never come across loose tea for decaffeinated tea! Waiters were very friendly and helpful, and we were seated in a lovely alcove overlooking gardens. It was great to be able to relax and catch up without interruptions or trying to make you leave! Only problem was disabled parking, I couldn’t see any and ended up parking across 2 spaces in car park to allow myself room to get in and out of car. On leaving we saw a marked out space in front of hotel, but there were no sign’s advertising this. Highly recommended for afternoon teas.

This hotel could be so good. The staff were polite the room was clean with air conditioning and the shower excellent. However breakfast was very disappointing. I have never experienced mould on my toast until we had the cooked breakfast at this hotel. That kind of puts you off the food. The breakfast was awful . Bacon inedible. The next day I went for the continental option which was a lot better. The staff apologised for the toast but really. They seriously need to get the kitchen sorted and then this hotel would be worth staying at.

We had a bad service experience back in August ‘19 but wanted to give Audley’s Wood another chance. We booked the Valentine’s meal at £45 a head. Overall the service was very poor. 20 mins wait to be asked if we wanted a drink, food brought out before the previous plates had been cleared, waiters just huddling around the till point with no attention on guests. On the plus side, the food was great in every way so at least the chef knows what they are doing. With two bars experiences in six months, we will not be going back.

My wife stayed at the hotel in mid June and had dinner in the restaurant both evenings. Whilst the service was generally good we had a couple of problems. Firstly my wife's fish main course on the first evening was presented very undercooked so much so that it was almost raw. This was taken away along with my food and represented as two new freshly cooked main courses. Whilst the staff dealt with the problem the food should never have been served in the first place.

Mi único problemita es que el servicio es un poco lento, sin embargo cuando sirve, son muy buenos y simpáticos. Llegamos a escoger el té que quería, así que un poco de Assam ensayado primero y luego Earl. No convertir a mí.

Had traditional afternoon tea for 4 on a Sunday afternoon. In summary, after a shaky start, things were largely redeemed and we had a good time and enjoyed our tea. On the plus side:1. They offer either a sweet or savoury afternoon tea which is great since I find that there is often just too much sugar on offer in a traditional English tea. For two people order one savoury and one sweet and the balance is very much better.2. You can smell samples of the tea before you choose - more interesting than reading from a menu card.3. Quirky teapots are fun (sort of).4. £19.99 is a competitive price.5. We lingered for an enjoyable couple of hours over our meal.6. Good range of gluten-free food.On the other hand:1. Long wait (35 mins) from sitting down at pre-booked time to food arriving. No explanation. But we did have tea to drink so not all bad.2. Service felt a little basic and lacking polish. Not terrible by any means, but not notable.3. Gluten-free sandwiches disappointing (but they are difficult to do well I grant you).

I wanted to plan a nice Sunday lunch with family to celebrate my Mum's 70th Birthday. Having spent many hours researching I came across the Conservatory Restaurant within the Audley's Wood Hotel. The setting looked ideal and the menu suited everyone so I made a reservation for the 26th August 2016.(The reservation was made in May).On arrival yesterday there was a wedding in progress (no real surprise as this is a popular hotel for wedding's.)We were then ushered into a side room which was not the conservatory. Although the room itself was nice enough it lacked any atmosphere. We were the only people in this room for the majority of the time and due to the wedding it felt that it was a slight inconvenience that we were there. The waiter took our drinks order, then came back to advise he couldn't get two or our drinks at the moment as the wedding party were making there way through and he would get them soon. 20 minutes later I had to remind him about our drinks order as he had completely forgot. We ordered our meals and my youngest child ordered chicken breast and mash potato. from your children's menu. When her meal arrived she was presented with the chicken meal that was on the main menu. When I spoke to the waiter about this he advised that the Chef had "read the check wrong". When her meal was bought back it was still the same chicken as on the main "adult" menu with some mash potato added, not the chicken breast we were expecting.Overall the food was very nice but with the slow service, the small side room we we put into and the lack on concentration when reading an order the whole experience was disappointing.

Especially consistency issues and I am pleased to report that over a 5 day stay the facilities, level of service, quality of food, attention to detail was consistently good. My colleagues all reported the same, hearty breakfasts, comfortable beds, acceptable prices and helpful cheery staff. They clearly can cater for your special event or get away treat and the history of the place is interesting as is the architecture in the older part.

Hired the Garden Pavilion for my husband' 40th. The events co-ordination team is not the greatest as their communication and recommendation skills leaves much to be desired. They do not seem to show much interest. I was nervous about the night due to the co-ordinators and they are the only reason why this review was not given 5/5......but my word - the Events team that we had on the night were faultless! I can't praise them enough. Nothing was too much trouble - from asking for kids' party packs to requesting a white board at the spur of the moment to clearing tables and serving drinks and attending to our Vodka luge... Everyone commented on how smoothly the party ran and how nice it was to be served drinks at tables . The food for the buffet was not great but it was good enough for everyone to enjoy something. I would definitely recommend having your event here - it is worthwhile paying for it if you are getting service like this. However, my one suggestion is for the co-ordination team to go for training to upgrade their skills.

On 15th December our firm booked a party of 17 for Christmas lunch at your restaurant. We were delighted with the surroundings and were greeted with our pre-dinner drinks upon arrival. We were then shown to our table and it was nicely laid out and we were all in good spirits looking forward to our Christmas lunch. What a complete disappointment that turned out to be.Starter: the smoked salmon wrapped round soft cheese was good, cannot go wrong with that one. The duck pate was ok, but very little bread to eat with it.Main: the fish was dry (overcooked) and the beef was tough. The turkey dinner was dreadful. The turkey was a few scraps of turkey wrapped round sausage meat or stuffing and a piece of fatty streaky bacon wrapped round the turkey. Each plate had two thin rounds of this which mainly consisted of sausage/stuffing and very little turkey. (Aldi sold this very inexpensively!) The potato dish was just slices of dry potato compacted into a block, and each person had a square slice of it. The vegetables - how boring can you get! Boiled large cubes of parsnips, carrots and swede, accompanied by three Brussel sprouts. It actually looked unappetising and tasted not much better than it looked. I asked for cranberry sauce which never arrived. Apart from salt and pepper on the table no other condiments were offered for any of the dishes.Pudding: The Bakewell tarts were a joke. They were rock hard and dry, so difficult to put a fork in without particles zooming across the plate or table. Obviously they were not fresh as they were far too hard and dry. It would have been better to have cream or ice cream with them to soak the dryness away (not that it should have needed it) but it was served with sorbet which was a strange combination. The Christmas puddings were ok, but not enough custard as these puddings are quite heavy. The brownies were good, but one person asked for ice cream instead of cream, so his desert was taken away and came back without any ice cream or cream, so it was too dry.The waiters were obviously inexperienced and much of our wine was poured outside the glasses onto the table cloth. They may have tried their best, but it appears they have not been trained very well. Not once did anyone come to us and ask if everything was alright or offer to get us anything else. The whole experience felt as though we were in a restaurant which had just opened up and the chef and staff were inexperienced but trying their best. No-one guided the waiters. We chose Audleys Wood because we thought we would have a really good meal in a lovely surrounding (had a brilliant meal at Tylney Hall the previous year) and spent the few months leading up to it really looking forward to it, but quite honestly we would have had a better meal in a fast food restaurant. We thought we would leave feeling very fulfilled and pleased to return. What’s the point in having such a beautiful venue when you serve up such a disappointing meal?Unfortunately, we will not be booking with Audleys Wood next Christmas.

I attended my friends wedding and how wonderful it was. The venue is beautiful set in lovely grounds. The staff were very professional and polite. Everything ran very smoothly and on time. The food was amazing, melt in the mouth beef. I can not fault the venue or its staff. Thank you

The four of us had decided to celebrate my big birthday a bit late, but it was worth it. After a drink in the bar we were seated promptly, it's a big restaurant and the tables are well spread out. It seemed quiet, though it was a Tuesday. The menu is interesting, and there were two or three dishes I could have chosen (perhaps next time). The wine list is extensive and quite expensive, not much under £20 per bottle. Three of us chose the duck pate to start, rich tasting, but quite a small portion. My main was the rib eye steak which was very tender and succulent. To finish, the strawberry delice was very nice. A pleasant evening, but it did seem to lack atmosphere.

Not only is the location and hotel beautiful, rooms are well equipped with wifi, fab sized tv's, fridge and everything else you would expect from a top hotel. The thing that stood out the most was the friendliness and helpfulness of Audleys staff. Cheerful, accommodating really couldn't do enough for us from check in to check out. BTW, the breakfast is fabulous with loads of choice - you won't leave hungry! Price was reasonable too.

We had a family dinner in the wonderfully decorated, cozy and authentic restaurant, ordered lamb and chicken dishes, but left the place even more famished than when we arrived. To make it clear, the service was great and the food fantastic ..... just the portions are way too small. For that price we would have expected more, especially on the vegetable side the restaurant was very greedy.

We booked for 6 for Christmas Day and am sorry to say the experience was a complete let downMy children were promised a visit from Santa ...this didn't happen. The deserts (panna cotta) were inedible (transparent) and sent back for something else but 2 of our party had to then 'share' an alternative as there wasn't enough apparently??!Audleys wood took their time to respond to our complaint and then seemed to point the blame at us for not letting them know we were leaving....for Santa!! We thought the fact that we had finished our meal had coffee, paid the drinks bill and sat for ages with our coats on....would be enough of a trigger to send him in!! Instead they said after we left, Santa was running around the grounds trying to find us. Even if I believed this, the idea of a guy in a Santa outfit running around a hotel trying to find my children fills me with horror!Anyway we would advise caution if you want a great xmas day experience with this venue.

My extended family and I booked a Christmas meal here. None of us have ever been to the hotel before and we found it online so didn't know what to expect. We were very pleasantly surprised! They gave us our own private dining room (I think because there was also a wedding on) and we seemed to have our own waiting staff as well! Amazing! We were looked after very well, the staff made sure we always had everything we needed and checked when we'd like everything. This was impressive considering there was also a wedding being held at the hotel so I imagine lots of the staff would be working on that.I'll be honest, when I was pre-choosing my food, the menu sounded really boring and I thought it would be very average. However, they really undersold themselves on the menu as the food was delicious! Everything was well cooked with good portion sizes, I was really impressed.Overall, we had a great meal and afternoon, and we are definitely considering coming here again for the family meal next year.

The dining room in the Audleys Wood Hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was excellent. I had the chicken which was excellently prepared. The vegetables were fresh and tasty and the service was excellent. The dining room with its high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows made the evening feel very special.

We booked Audley's Wood for a Sunday lunch birthday treat and were very impressed. The food was perfect, good choice, beautifully cooked (especially the rib eye roast beef) and served by staff with personalities. Nothing was too much trouble, and at £21 for 3 courses we shall certainly be returning.

The reviews for afternoon tea here outshone others in the area and so I booked a table for myself and my friend through Buyagift. There was a large assortment of Twinings tea's, the sandwiches were very nice and I was pleased that our request for no fish sandwiches had been remembered from the time I had made the booking. The homemade scones were amazing with the clotted cream and preserve, there were a good selection of bite size cakes and the eton mess to finish was a nice touch. The staff could have been a little more attentive but there was a wedding on so I guessed they were busy with that. The hotel has lots of character and I would recommend you visit.

We went on national afternoon tea day & have to say the additional complimentary pastries they served were absolutely fantastic, the cakes & scones were lovely but unfortunately the sandwiches let them down, I would expect more from audleys wood, the fillings were not very tasty & the bread was slightly dry, had we not have had the additional gorgeous pastries & just had the standard food they normally serve, I really think I would have been disappointed.

We stayed in the hotel and Dinner was included. There are two restaurants. The main hotel and the "Fine dining". Our dinner was in the main restaurant which was simply not an option. It is a large conservatory (part of original Victorian house) but the same place that breakfast is served and Ceremonies take place and was full of screaming children for the next day wedding. I paid to upgrade and was glad. The "Fine dining" was in the wood paneled dining room and more intimate - perhaps 10 tables for 2. Excellent menu. Even better wine list. The sofa waiting area was full so we waited in the bar (also full) and asked for a drink. The barman (a temp) didn't know how to make certain drinks, but I discovered that the regular bar Manager was busy managing the Restaurant. He did a great job. In fact the staff generally knew exactly what they were doing.

Arrived with some friends on a nice sunny evening but staff were not welcoming and seemed to think it OK for us to stand for an hour whilst waiting for a table. A wedding was in full swing and we were obviously in the way. Thankfully a table became available. Bar ran out of glasses and Bombay Sapphire. They were obviously short-staffed. Food however was exceptional but so let down by sloppy, unprofessional service. Will not be returning anytime soon.

The selection of dishes was good and my wife, who is allergic to wheat, could order most of the dishes available even though some would need to be slightly adapted to cater for her allergy. This gave her confidence that the chef was both competent, adaptable and willing to pease the customers. The food was a little on the costly side to what we are used to but very well presented and full of flavour. The cost of available wines, although a offering a reasonable selection, seemed to be in excess from similar establishments.

Audleys's Wood Hotel is magnificent - it is such a shame that dinner in the conservatory does not achieve the same level as the hotel. First, let me state that the setting itself is lovely. The view of the lawn and the the beauty of the room sets a lovely ambiance. The menu, which changes, offers approximately 6 starters, 6 mains (steak, fish, chicken, 2 veg/pasta), and 6 dessert. While there, we ate in the restaurant twice. Both times we tried different items so we sampled many items on the menu. We found the food, while presented beautifully, to be of inferior quality and not up to the standard expected for the price being paid (mains cost on average 17 pounds, or $ 25 USD). Dinner for two, without wine, for three courses ran 60 pounds or $ 90 USD.I would not recommend this restaurant for dinner.

Quiet standard room (no upgrade even though have a loyalty card), great bar service, but restaurant staff need better training (unless you like your sauvignon blanc mixed with chardonnay). Nice cooked breakfast but not fresh (hence not that hot) as it came out too quickly.

Phoned at 11:30am to book a table for my family of 4 and dog for 2:30-2:45pm, which they confirmed and read back to me. When we arrived, they didn't have a table for us, no apologies, no explanation, didn't offer for us to sit at and wait for one to become available, could only offer us a tall bar table with tall bar stools that we wouldn't have even fitted our dinner plates onto. Not really the cozy Sunday lunch we pictured sitting down to after a few miles walking to get there. Luckily the Furze Bush down the road had space and were far more accommodating. Sorry, RC, I've always praised your pub, atmosphere and food to all my friends and family, but won't be any more.

One of our party was gluten and dairy intolerant ... the waiter had to keep checking several times to know which items contained dairy. This was surprising given the limited nature of the set menu. Also, the only dessert option for our party member from the set menu was the poached pear which was not available, and we weren't aware of this until after the first two courses. This wasn't unavailable due to being sold out, but because the pears were unexpectedly hard, and they were preferring not to serve them. We opted to take them as they came, yet did need a knife and fork to eat them, but I don't understand why they didn't just warm them up to soften them beforehand. Plus also, it came with an aniseed coulis, which was originally advertised as a berry coulis, and the dairy intolerant guest really can't stand aniseed, so they ended up leaving the pear! With all the faff around the dessert, it ended the meal on a down note, and it all could have been avoided had we been proactively warned about the pear before we locked ourselves into ordering off the set menu. I was also surprised that there was only one dairy free option off the set menu... even just sorbet ice cream wasn't an official option, though it came as an addition to the pear?

The waitress gave excellent service. Food was very tasty but, only disappointment was the menu choice could have been better & some items on the menu were not available, so making it difficult to choose anything we liked
