Excellent pub, very friendly staff and locals. Great beer selections at reasonable prices and live sports on TV, a very good juke box, pool table and darts. Wills meals is amazing and worth ordering

Nice little local pub. 1st time in there since 1993 when it was called the Skewers. Nas changed a lil'bit since then. All for the better though. Didn't have food though.

We held our sons christening after party in the back room and used the rest of the pub and the garden and Nina and her staff were so friendly and accommodating. The pub itself is lovely and the garden is really big with a lovely little park area for the children. I believe they’ve also just started doing food and have a recent 5* hygiene rating and a decent chef so will definitely be going for dinner soon to try it out!

I was very welcomed by the owners. Felt relaxed and drank more then a few beers 😂

I was actually in a band playing here. Drinks were reasonably priced for an in town local pub, ppl were friendly, even the outside space is child friendly for during the day.

Been here a several times now over last couple of months and everytime it has been a welcoming atmosphere, staff are so friendly and also the entertainment is good, I do enjoy their quizzes and live music nights on top of the sports events... I bought my family here a few times and they loved it too, we will be becoming regulars! . A very family friendly pub. They welcome disabilities too, I came with my mother last Saturday who is wheelchair bound and we was able to get in with the ramp they provided for us.. nothing seemed to much for the team at The Riverdene so I am very grateful... this is a big plus as some places we haven't been able to access. Such a positive experience. Food is great too while we watch the football👌🏼 In my opinion, the best pub I have found in Basingstoke :) Thank you team at riverdene:)

I was part of a band that played for The Riverdene. From the organising, during the event and after they were the most friendly hosts. Great communicating, attentive with drinks during our music and really kind and complementary afterwards. The atmosphere was lovely and there there was a really nice community feel there.

Brilliant day at riverdene yesterday. We were able to watch the football and the rugby at the same time which was perfect!! Great atmosphere even if my team did lose! Staff were so welcoming as always.

I was a regular... I Invited friends to join me in watching the eng/ire rugby game. The manager at half time changed channels to watch an arsenal football match for her family to view.. totally disrigarding her paying customers . She is a very selfish person and is probably the reason the pub is not busy on many occasions..

We were looking for a place for a work re-union, some have not seen each other for 40 years + and so glad we chose the Riverdene, great staff who could not do enough for us, even when we were advised at 2 the food was not available until 5, they rustled up 12 chicken curries and chips! we are planning to do this every 2 months and have found a perfect venue. Hats of to the fantastic staff and management, a credit to the community. Thank you, Terry

Highly recommended love this place

I had a baby shower and a birthday party at this establishment and I got to say the staff were soo amazing and welcoming. The landlady let us have the function room and decorate it, overall her hospitality is what made the event so well put together. So thankyou very much to the staff at the riverdene

No ales on tap, so a little disappointed. Staff were friendly, though a little slow at busy times.

Wow wow wow went for a few drinks and decided to try the dirty fries, have to say these by far are the best freshly cooked I have ever tasted. Hats off to #Teamdeano for the food

The outside of the building looks like it's an abandoned building, the pub sign is falling apart. The most unkept pub I have ever been to. Rumours have it some customers are big on drug dealing allegedly.

Have been to this pub a few times to see live music which was fab. Visited again on the weekend, sat out in the sun shine enjoying a few drinks. Nice pub, friendly staff. We will visit again.

Beer garden is an absolute sun trap and there are some swings and see saw for the kids. Staff very friendly. Loved that they sell Inchs Cider too! Baby change in the ladies toilet, pool table and 2 large rooms inside to sit down. We would defo go back. We didnt have any food so cant comment as we went for a party.

This was the first time I had ever visited The Riverdene despite living in Basingstoke for many years. I went with friends for the soul night hosted by well known local DJ Ady Long of Platinum Discos. It was a great night, well attended with lots of boogieing 😊. The owners Sharon and Martin are very welcoming and run a tight ship. Looking forward to Ady’s on New Year’s Eve Teresa

Stopped here on Sunday after a walk, very clean and tidy inside with great customer service, plenty of seating inside and outside, it does look a bit run down on the outside but nothing a bit of paint wouldn't fix.

2 minute walk from home... Lovely pub, lovely staff.... Nice garden...

It is a local pub, maybe more inclined towards the local community. We stopped for a drink after a long walk and enjoyed the outside tables. The quality and service are good. To be noted the show matches on TV.

Can only pay cash as its changed owners but I'd like to say its no fault of the staff as they are helpful and extremely friendly so 3 stars but only because u can't use card ill update when they can again great service brilliant to hear we can use card now so I've updated to 5 stars as ive mentioned the staff are excellent and very welcoming well done the riverdene staff

Yeah good place to have a beer even took part in the quiz tonight and it was fun even with the locals. We had some picky foods like wing's and cheesey chips and really nice chicken dippers. Worth a pop in if your up that way

Just a note to the previous review, the fact that you do not even have a genuine name on the review tells me that your being a nasty individual for no reason. We come in here 4 times a week with our 2 children and there is nothing of that nature happening. They had one incident in the beginning but the managers and staff are brilliant with tackling the riff raff... it’s a hard time for everyone after so long locked away. Cut them some slack Our family probably feel safer here than any other place around. Lovely people 😊

Since the lifting of covid restrictions, the pub has unfortunately taken a downwards turn. There are fights most nights at closing time, some times earlier in the evening. The rubbish left behind by the visitors is also disturbing and have even come across visitors urinating on nearby houses garden fences. The current visitors are not a crowd to mix with...

Is always a pleasure to sit on its garden.

With the new kitchen I absolutely recommend it. However the staff feels a bit inexperienced. That will improve over time.

Enjoyed my visits. Been twice now and the service has been great. Had no issues ordering drink or food. Will be back again soon.

Peaceful and out the way pub, mostly frequented by locals from the housing estate. Cosy atmosphere and sports on TV, staff are always friendly and decent if small range which is understandable as it is a smaller pub. Reasonable outdoor garden seating space, and a good quality fish and chips van sets up in the car park on Fridays (you're allowed to eat it in the pub)

Good to see new management, looks allot cleaner and looking to forward to visiting again soon.

Very welcoming owner and nice dog. the pub has a cosy feel. the dog is very affectionate. there is sports showing at the weekend on the tv there. it has pool table. Splendid vibes. In the summer the garden seating area is often busy and good atmosphere.

Landlord Lee and staff show care for every individual, remember your drinks and make free food during events. Excellent hosts to parties and bookings, regulars keep coming back and say it's their favourite pub. Whether it's quiet or busy, the service is impeccable and the banter is welcoming. Lots to do - darts, pool, quiz and fruit machines, and great music on the jukebox. The most welcoming and lovely pub in Basingstoke, or perhaps the whole of the South. And they have gorgeous, friendly dogs - a really dog friendly pub.

The Riverdene does the best roast dinner by far in Basingstoke, just start to put stuffing on the plate too and it'll be perfection lol

Great pub but really not happy with the loud thumping music still going gone 11pm, can hear over the tv and I then struggle to sleep.

Used to go there for sunday lunch not anymore not as good also dont go when footballs on telly u wont here ur self think

This is a local drinkers bar. No food in the evening. Just beer and watching footie. OK if you like that kind of evening. Not children or Mum friendly here. Pleasant service.

Good local pub,friendly atmosphere

Came for a football night. Service was great as the bartender was funny, likeable and joked around with the people there. Atmosphere was also great. Drinks were on the expensive side but thats understandable as sports channel are fleecing pubs so its worth paying a bit more than you would at spoons.

We were staying at the Crowne Plaza and decided to take a stroll out as it was a nice evening and came across this lovely local pub. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. The pub comfortable and clean as was the toilets, may have been recently refurbished. My husband highly recommends the John Smiths which is a very good compliment as he is quite the connoisseur! We will definitely be back when next in the area.

Good estate pub on the way back. Latest landlord making it appealing to all ages. Good to see a pub that was going nowhere now having a forward direction in this day and age.

Great environment and friendly staff, had the big screen on for the football. This is the closest pub to me but I’ve never been in, I regret that. £3.70 for a Southern Lemonade is decent. They provided free food at half time and made you feel welcome. Also have pool table and darts board in the back room. Will be back!

I visited this place recently and I have to say I was not impressed with their food. We ordered a Sunday roast and both plates came to the table with burnt potatoes (I'm not sure how the chef can think that was ok to serve). I thought the rest of the food was quite bland and certainly I won't be eating there again. We ordered blackcurrant for the kids which can only be described as purple coloured water, disgusting. The staff were friendly and it seemed a nice pleasant atmosphere hence I'll up the 1 🌟 2 🌟

Vivió en Basingstoke mucho tiempo y no sabía este pequeño tesoro existía. Un buen pub con clientes habituales y gran ambiente, pantallas deportivas para fútbol y otros deportes. Me pareció que el nombre de terratenientes y a pesar de la marca es cara miserable que resultó ser una persona muy accesible y divertido! La cerveza era buena y el pub y los inodoros estaban limpias. No comer en esta ocasión, pero la comida se sirve olía y parecía bastante buena también. Hay una zona de jardín bien cuidado, así que espero llevar a mi familia volver aquí cuando el tiempo se pone mejor.

Estamos en el proceso de trasladarnos a la finca Riverdene, así que pensamos que lo mejor probar la boozer local.

No ha estado aquí durante muchos años, la última vez fue en 2000 cuando aún era los pinchos. Cambiado mucho desde entonces, tuvimos una excelente comida de Boerewors roll y patatas fritas, pizza para los niños, ambos excelentes, sabrosa y muy bien de precio. Buena relación calidad-precio en mi opinión.

This is a lovely pub now pizzas are lovely shame the burgers long life rolls and a dry burger we have tryed them a few times but the pizzas are really nice .Lovely staff

El pub tiene sólo ha abierto una semana y visitamos hoy. Tuvimos una gran experiencia y sin duda volveremos. Para los sudafricanos y no sudafricanos por igual, prueba las boerewors, es casera y que sabe muy bien. Probablemente uno de los mejores que he probado aquí. También juegos de rugby SA y el ambiente es agradable con gente muy agradable ... como sudafricanos generalmente son :)
