We are fairly local, and I hadn’t been before. My friends had advised me that the landlord could be quite rude. When being served we asked him several questions regarding the ales, to which he kept silent and blanked us. What a strange way to treat customers. Very odd behaviour, and frankly off-putting. Why you would purposely be standoffish and rude is just bizarre. Anyway, the pizza van outside was great, which also had nothing to do with the pub. Unlikely to go again
Another glorious visit. Staff friendly, polite and very attentive. Had afternoon tea and was delighted, the sandwiches so full and cakes delicious. Highly recommend.
I had an exceptional dinner at The Purchases earlier this week. After a long, draining day, I walked in running on fumes—but was treated with warmth, professionalism, and just the right amount of indulgence.
The service made me feel like a valued guest—if not quite royalty, then at least someone worth slowing down for.
The Food? Immaculate.
The Atmosphere? Spot on.
I even left my coat in the cloakroom and came back the next day to collect it with zero hassle. Classy from start to finish.
Possibly the best Indian food I have experienced in the south of England. And the service is immaculate without being overbearing. Friendly and welcoming, it is a joy to be remembered each time we return.
Last night we had one of our most idyllic meals which was perfect for our needs. A combination of “smaller plates” made the meal so memorable with superb flavours. Oysters, tempura prawns, mussels and dressed crab salad. Without doubt our favourite restaurant.
We went today for the first time to this restaurant and it was a magnificent experience. from the treatment of the staff to the food. everything perfect. its star dish is undoubtedly the ossobuco. and everything we asked for at the beginning was perfect. we will definitely come back.
The tastiest did I've eaten in such a long time!! Yum Ped-Krob duck... Amazing! And Massaman curry, with coconut rice! Absolutely delicious. Highly recommend! x
I loved this restaurant. The food was really tasty(you should get anything that comes with the chill in). The portions were large(I had to take it home).
What I loved most was the owner and her family(down to the grandkids). It is a true family run business and that made for a lovely atmosphere. I'd be there all the time if I lived in Folkestone!
