Awful. Took my Nan for her birthday meal, we waited over 40 minutes for food, server was vaping in the pub, they spilt a drink over my nan, and I had to have a burger with no bun as their was no gluten free bread that they could find (which would of been fine if it weren’t for the fact they had already asked me to choose a new dish because a lack of supplies). Then once the food arrived, the naan bread was solid. I would not recommend coming again.

What an amazing place. Everything you would want in a pub. Local food cooked extremely well. Attention to detail and service from all of the staff lead by Jack, was excellent. It had a relaxed ambience and generally was just a ‘top’ place. We liked it so much we visited four times on our holiday to Cornwall, for either lunch or dinner and it was consistently great.

Don't be misled or put off by the slightly tired exterior, inside you will encounter a sincere and warm welcome and OMG the food! The halloumi was done perfectly and so light. And as for the falafels, surely it takes quite something to distinguish oneself making a humble falafel special, but wow did they manage it, fresh and tasty, wonderful texture - delicious! I'll be back!

We have been here several times and always had a fantastic time and amazing food, sadly this time, it was extremely disappointing and will never be returning. Couldn't wait for our Sunday booking. We brought our 18 month old and 3 year old at 12.00 booking, sadly but unsurprisingly after an hour and a half, they didn't want to sit in their seats any more and no snacks would keep them still any longer! We took them in the family garden and then brought them in while we waited for our deserts. They wandered around happily, with me apologizing for getting in anyones way. All staff were kind and welcoming as you would expect for a family pub on a Sunday. I was then gobsmacked when the manager came past huffing and puffing rudely and dismissively asked me to "keep my children in their seats", he then walked off whilst I was in mid reply telling him sadly that was impossible! My 18 month old would not be kept in his seat again! The same manager with even more of an attitude this time told me, mum, to get my children "in their seats". I question whether he would talk to a man with the same disregard. We have always taken our well behaved children everywhere since small babies, Nobu, the Dorcester, Claridges, every pub in north London and most restaurants, we have always been welcomed and accommodated, I have never once been spoken to with such rudeness and attitude! Definitely not what we were expecting from a big family pub in the country! Another lady who saw how I was spoken to told me how it was completely unjustified it was and how well behaved my children were. Obviously, I was extremely unpset, and in complete shock, we then felt there was no choice but to cancel the deserts and asked for the bill from the same manager. The manager was unapologetic. My husband was very upset to hear how I was spoken to not once, but twice and thought it was unacceptable. Again, he was met with rudeness and was told not to come back, to which he understandably lost his temper! I would be really interested in talking to the ownership about our experience and if they think the way we were treated was acceptable, or like the management they considered children as an inconvenience and if they're not sitting down they're not welcome?

After a long period of absence we went for drinks here on Christmas Eve. Not a single pump was working and a small bottle of Peroni and an equally small (and disgusting) bottle of Prosecco was charged at £10! The manager was overheard telling another punter that they were “running down the stock” which translates to “we’re going to be closing soon”. Such a shame - this used to be an amazing pub years ago. Mis-management has led to the state it is now in. Bring back the former owners.
