Sant-Yago in Portsmouth

Amiable and lovely staff. I enjoyed the wide variety on the menu and the good wine. Will return next time we are in Portsmouth. We had intended a French meal at the Brassiere Blanc, but they were card only, so it was their loss and our gain at this lovely place.

The service here is excellent - so friendly. We had tapas with bread; 4 plates was enough for 2 if us. All were fantastic, but the coconut curry was stunning. We will be back next time we're in Southsea.

Spoiled by the service, warm, friendly and attentive. The food was great, vegan options and vegan desserts. I would come back.

One of best places for a nice meal in Portsmouth. Food is great. Portion size is decent for tapas. Staff are friendly. Atmosphere is chilled.

We visited on a Sunday lunchtime and took advantage of the '3 tapas for £18' deal, sharing 6 delicious plates between the two of us, which was plenty. There was plenty of choice, and all the food was freshly cooked and piping hot. Particular highlights were the mushroom arancini and sweet potato stack. We also had two delicious mocktails (a creamy vegan passionfruit 'martini' and a zingy ginger nojito). Service was friendly and well-paced.

I hired the cocktail bar for my daughters 30th birthday. The communication and customer service was exemplary. The staff went above and beyond my expectations. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was delectable and the service proficient. The service provided by Jamie and Sam was outstanding. They were great hosts and so much fun. We all had a wonderful, memorable night celebrating. Thank you to all the staff for all your hard work.

Visited on saturday eve. Couldn't fault the service!! The lady behind the bar doing the cocktails was working so efficiently! The steak was the deal :D

Cool place, many vegan options!

First time visiting this venue for me and my partner and all I can say is I can't wait to come back. The whole experience was.amazing start to finish. The service was incredible from the two Gentlemen who was working (I feel bad I never got their names) we was well looked after and my partners Citrus allergy was handled professionally and with care. The food.was the highlight of the afternoon. All dishes which was recommended was amazing. We look forward to returning.

Heard this place was good so we decided to see for ourselves the service was good the food was very good and they had a vast selection to chose from and it was good value as well all in all a good visit

Food was excellent. We had 7 plates between two (my husband can eat a lot) and everything was delicious! Cocktails were lovely and service was good. It’s a shame the dessert menu is very limited so we didn’t opt for dessert. Only moan is that after the bill came, we had to wait a good 20 minutes or so for someone to finally bring over a card machine so we could pay! Would return!

Tapas that you'd get in Madrid. The real deal. Pig cheeks in fennel sauce melted in mouth. Pineapple glaze pork belly. Mushroom arancini. Fish cakes and chicory salad. Prawns... Followed by homemade cheesecake. All delicious with great service and in a nice open space. Francisco in the kitchen. Keep up the good work 👍

Went for tapas after watching England beat Switzerland on penalties. We had booked in advance. A little busy so they recommended that we have some nibbles first to tide us over until our tapas arrived. In the end it wasn't a long wait. The food was very good as was the service.

Booked in for a quiet Monday night for our anniversary, our server was great, nice and friendly. The food was good, a large selection so there's something for everyone, deceptively filling, and all very tasty. Nice selection of drinks, including their own spin on some classic cocktails and a good range of non alcoholic alternatives.

The atmosphere in this restaurant was lovely and the staff were great. The food was a mixed bundle: some dishes (pork cheek) absolutely delicious as were the prawns and muscles and others not so tasty (the endive salad), the pulled pork. Perhaps one of our favourites was the pork crackling as a pre meal nibble. We were 3 people and ordered 3 dishes each and a bottle of Prosecco and the bill came it over £180 which we were thought was very expensive but we’re far from experts.

This use to be one of my favourite restaurants in Southsea, however they have messed around with the menu changing some of the great original dishes and the food is now bland and very boring. Sadly won’t be coming back soon as the food is now very average and overpriced for what it is.

Absolutely blown away by the food; bread and dips (which were divine) for starter followed by 6 small plates and by god were the portion sizes perfect!! Wine is delicious and I left leaving full! The staff were attentive and helped make the evening a fantastic one! I looked forward to coming back again!!

The food here is some of the best I've had in Portsmouth! This is a seriously under rated restaurant. The cocktails and food are both amazing and I would highly recommend the pig cheeks. 6 tapas between 2 leaves you absolutely stuffed so I don't have to say anything more about the portions ! A must try if you like cocktails and Spanish style tapas .

Lovely meal and service was outstanding

We visited for a lunch snack. The quality of the food was excellent with really good portions. Five dishes between two was a challenge to finish! The chorizo in apple cider was particularly good. The staff were friendly and helpful and the drinks very good.

Great food, we had a party of 9 and the waitress was brilliant in helping us work out the most economical way to order our food without telling us how to do it which was great. Drinks were kept flowing throughout the night and the food was absolutely delicious. The pork cheek was my personal favourite

Really surprised to see such a huge range of naturally gluten free dishes on the menu. There were also a huge amount of dishes that had a gluten free alternative available. Food was really tasty and very reasonably priced for the portion sizes too. They service was really friendly and attentive. Can't believe I didn't realise this existed for great gluten free food, will definitely be going again!

Love the food here! Absolutely gorgeous food. Different from the norm, that goes for drinks too. Also ordered take out from here before, and it is just as divine and serving sizes are good. Welcoming staff

We visited here for a works night out, with a total of 16 people. The food was fantastic, all brought to the table promtly, were never left waiting for drinks or other service. Very friendly staff, and and overall a great experiance.

I cannot understand how this place is 4.7, the food was so bland we didn't eat more than a mouthful of the 6 tapas we order and the ones we did try and eat were average at best. I mentioned this to the waitress and she took them off the bill. After such a complaint I'm surprised the chef didn't make the effort to come out and understand the issues, I guess they don't care. On arrival we stood by the door for ages with no staff In sight, the staff where scruffy and the restaurant felt tired and gruby. Will not be coming back.

Nice laid back atmosphere here and we enjoyed our meal. The waiting staff were attentive and helpful. Could possibly trim the wait time between courses but otherwise no complaints!

Been coming here for many years, always loved coming never had a bad meal, visited start of November was like a different restaurant, food was less than average, staff weren’t particularly friendly, will not be visiting again.

We went with friends, 3 of us had been before. We ordered 4 dishes each couple and a side if fries. All the food was delicious, piping hot & fresh although there was a little wait. The baked cheese was lovely as was the pig cheeks. Was really good to see the restaurant full to the brim with all tables taken. Would go back again and again.

Really disappointing, food just wasn’t tasty, totally under seasoned. It used to be great, not sure what has happened. Staff were nice but food was crap. Would definitely not recommend

Sant Yago served up good food and had a nice relaxed atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helped with options available. Quite a small menu but plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans.

Tapas was superb, Spanish mayo excellent, the fries were to die for! Pork scratching starter the best flavour ever.

Sant Yago tapas restaurant serves up delicious dishes, featuring a diverse array of flavorful tapas. Unfortunately, the recent update to the decor didn't meet my expectations, lacking the wow factor I had hoped for. Despite that, the quality of the food is definitely a redeeming factor.

Nice atmosphere. Rustic style seating. Pleasant staff. Food was very good and also different from your normal offerings in a tapas restaurant. Food was served in a bit of a disjointed manner and had to be reminded about one dish missing from the table. But it was enjoyed without exception. Some interesting cocktails and some good beers. Started off fairly quiet but soon got very busy and very loud. Not the place for an intimate meal.

Easily one of the best cocktail bars in Southsea. Super relaxed, the staff are a great laugh and the food is unreal. If you want somewhere chilled with a strong sense of community, Sant Yago is the choice.

Very lively place, nice atmosphere. Waitress was super friendly and helpful and the food was really good. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The pork belly was the highlight of the meal but all the food was very good. Would come back for sure.

Came here on a busy Friday night, the food was incredible, the best tapas we’ve ever had. Really fast service, delicious cocktails and our waitress (I believe her name was Jamie) was so lovely. All in all a 10/10 experience!

Quick lunchtime meal. Ordered 5 tapas and Greek salad (from the specials). Sadly, only pork cheeks were outstanding, as the rest of the food wasnt to our liking. Greek salad was very sour, and vegetables weren't the best quality. Artichoke bland, sweet potato stack very, very sweet, calamari cut very thin but my little one ate all. On the positive note, the service was great, especially by polish girl(can't remember her name).

Omg, food absolutely amazing, Staff clothing attire could be better. Not sure everyone wants to see bosoms when ordering food. Time and place springs to mind.

Came here for a family birthday meal, didn’t get asked for food orders for 40 minutes after booked arrival time, and took another 30 minutes to get to the table only to find bland overspiced food. To top it off a cake we had taken to the restaurant earlier was put in the fridge after we told the staff specifically to NOT put it in the fridge causing the icing to go soggy. Will not be coming here again.

Food was okay, but wine was delicious.

Walked here after a recommendation from the girl at the hotel bar. We chose a great Italian red wine to go with haloumi and Camembert. The restaurant filled up very quickly for a wet Wednesday night in March. The lovely staff even telephoned a taxi for us back to the hotel.

Lovely food as always. The restaurant was very cold. I expected heating on in the middle of January. I asked for the heating to be turned on and was told it would be but it was never turned on. Had to eat with my coat on.

Good service fantastic food and cocktails

Lovely experience - excellent food, and not your usual tapas selection, so a nice change! Cocktails good, and even have sugar drip absinthe - certainly worth a visit!
