Staff always welcoming, quick service & hot food make this restaurant one we keep returning too. Highly recommend.

We had my Daughters baby shower at The Garden Southsea.We sat on the long table outside but under cover which was perfect as even at 11.00 it had started to warm up. It was great that we could even bring our own decorations for the table etc. We had the brunch menu which not only looked delicious it tasted great. The staff and especially the manager on duty were very helpful and friendly and we will definitely be returning. Thankyou.

Second business meal in a couple of months here. Welcoming , lovely and the food was spot on despite the fact they were very busy and I think short staffed. Worth a visit for anyone...

Think we came on a day with a large booking more attention paid to them which is understandable so service was a bit slowed but food was good and worth it however price was a little over marked for what the food is

What a find! Lovely restaurant with various zones with inside and outside seating, each zone is different. Good choice of food on the menu. We went for brunch and there was a good selection for vegetarian and vegan diners. I had pancakes with fruit and yogurt which was delicious and filling. Didn't feel rushed. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would like to go again for an evening meal in the courtyard.

Great service and atmosphere. Food was delightful but slightly dear on prices when comparing to other restaurants of the same calibre. Perfect environment to relax, lots of quaint tables and inside or outside seating, a wood cabin with blankets available and a log fire for when its cold. Great coffee and tea and always flavourful meals. Would recommend trying for a treat

Usually love this place but today I ordered Eggs Florentine,Poached eggs , spinach and Hollandaise sauce. Asked for the side of mushroom. At £2 I thought it would at least be a spoonful of mushrooms. Surprised to see 1 mushroom. I really think £2 for 1 mushroom is a complete rip off.

Such a great little find. Off the beaten path, decor and feel of the place is lovely. Staff were really accommodating to our 2 year old, bringing colouring and generally keeping her happy and entertained. Pizza was lovely too. Highly recommended!

Lovely place for a bite to eat. The pizza was very tasty and had plenty of toppings. It was clearly well-baked in the pizza oven and an authentic crusty base. We did order some bread to start which came with the smallest portion of oil/balsamic imaginable, but the bread was very tasty. Service was good, we weren’t quite sure when we arrived where to sit and had to ask around a bit to find out where to go, but eventually got seated. Was very nice being able to bring out small, well-behaved dog with us. There was a couple with a less well-behaved larger dog next door but they mostly kept it under control. Overall, fairly pleasant. Shame there’s no convenient parking nearer to the restaurant.

The food was delicious and the vegan options are extensive! All of us enjoyed our meals and the staff, although a little slow to serve us were so helpful and accommodating.

We turned up at the garden and had a booking for 5 for my birthday. Not once was there acknowledgement of the sash and celebration. First they put us in the cabin and the two mismatched tables had a obvious gap in the middle. We asked to move inside where our drink order was taken. There was a mix up with the gins, it it happens. We were told that our server was new. Yet when checked we were still charged for the replacement drink. The gin with the unique sodas sounds good on paper but came out tasting like lemonade and plain. We had to ask again for water. I had to physically get up to get cutlery from the other table as we were missing a set. Drinks were placed at the end of the table as we were to dish them out to eachother ourselves. The starters came out after the mains after reminding our server of them in the first place. The poor girl looked like she was running around while what looks like the manager and another colleague was giggling behind the bar. All of the above mentioned is tolerable, what is not is the lack of support we witnessed given to new staff and instead when seen we are not happy, we can hear the new server being told to check on us, near being berated. Then the bald headed man who we assume is a manager talks openly to the same colleague with glasses and dark hair (Harriet he shouted) about a rude guest and how he "handled it". Tense atmosphere to work in, I hope all works out for her, but we may hesitate to come here again even though the restaurant itself is lovely.

Really like this place , the set up is amazing especially when the sun is out . Staff very friendly and helpful . Food is excellent but and there is a but . I ordered the sourdough breakfast bap and asked for no egg . When it came out the bap had one slice of bacon and a sausage pattie . £10 is a little steep for this , maybe offer something extra instead of the egg . Was a little disappointed this time 😔

Separate vegan menu with several tasty options, including desserts!

The restaurant itself was well presented and clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The food however was a massive let down. The garlic pizza bread and burrata starters were okay but nothing fantastic. The beef ragu main course was not very nice. The beef was fatty and not very flavourful, the pasta was cooked well but the sauce was very minimal and basic and didn’t add anything. The vodka sauce gnocchi was nice but nothing amazing and for the money charged I expected more. We didn’t bother with a desert. The lemonade tasted like soda water and not lemonade. Overall the staff were friendly and atmosphere was good but the food was not impressive.

Picked a quiet day and the food was delicious. Service with a smile. Very enjoyable Monday afternoon lunch.

Came for brunch- we made lots of changes to our orders as we’re a fussy lot! Staff were absolutely great, no issues with the changes and really helpful. My bacon and sausage roll was possibly the best I’ve ever had- delicious! Caffe also really good, will be back!

We have been here for breakfast several times, one of our favourite places, good food, good coffee, nice staff. The only problem is parking. One time, we turned up & there was nowhere to park.

Nice space! Good food! You can chose your seating area when you book (indoor, cabin which is outdoors but covered or outdoor). The landscaping outside is nice. There’s an outdoor kitchen with a wood burning pizza oven. The food was yummy! Good selection of fresh Mediterranean food. Only downside is parking is for hotel customers only.

Lovely, friendly service. Good sized portions. Very clean and pleasant environment. Loved the coffee. Lots of different spaces to choose from for flexible seating and groups.

Simply an excellent all round hotel . In London you would pay double or more for this quality.Highly recommended and would definitely return.

What can I say, WOW. This place is a hidden GEM. Food fantastic, service fantastic, and setting is beautiful. Cannot wait to come back in the summer and really appreciate sitting in the garden. Well done to all the team, you made the night fantastic.

We visited The Garden on mother's day just gone Nine of us, four generations and three off them Mums ❤️ A friendly warm welcome and we were setted in the outside area (loved the birds singing away🎶) Fabulous table service with a great menu We had a mixture of roast dinners, burgers and pizzas 😋 with a few side dishes, there was plenty more to choose from Thank you to all the staff that hosted, waited and cooked for us 🥰 We will be back

One of the best vegan pizzas ive ever had i think! Very thin and puffy, so tasty, would defo come back, well done to the chefs.

First time eating here, looked nice so wanted to try while it's still good weather. The lamb burger was a great choice, really tasty. The fries were great and the Greek salad was good, seems to be good quality ingredients. The fruit smoothie was refreshing. The male waiter got my bill for me, I showed him I wanted to pay with card and he said ok, then just disappeared and served other customers, a bit strange, not the best service, then a female waitress saw me waiting and helped me with the payment. I would have given 5 stars if the service was better with my payment. But I highly recommend coming here. The food and atmosphere is good.

Real gem in Southsea. Food is fabulous, if a little on the expensive side. Location beautiful, staff friendly and knowledgeable.

Salmon and chicken burger for mains, with a decent white Rioja Very tasty and perfectly cooked. For a Monday night nothing was too much trouble and the staff were exemplary. Highly recommend

My wife and I decided to check out The Garden Southsea whilst out for a walk along the seafront with our puppy as we had seen that it was a dog friendly restaurant on Instagram. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive from the moment of greeting us, seating and serving food and drinks. We ate from the garden menu which is cooked on the grill in the outdoor kitchen. The food was incredible! Fresh ingredients and beautifully prepared. The review would have been 5-star, but the outdoor area could do with some background music to create a more appealing ambience, plus there was a lot of litter on the floor, which led to a less than perfect dining experience with an inquisitive puppy trying to eat everything in sight 😅 All of that being said, we’ll definitely be back to sample the rest of the amazing looking menu.

Wonderful ambience , service, and importantly, for myself (and others, who I will tell ), a great separate vegan menu, with deliciously fresh ingredients. My friend had food from.the main menu amd has the same opinion. Will definitely return .

My adult daughter were walk ins here. We were given a choice of tables. Menus followed by drinks turned up promptly. Staff were polite, friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and portions large. Some food is cooked at an outside area. We swapped tables to one that was better shaded and there is plenty of choice, inside, outside and outside covered. Would highly recommend.

A really nice intimate restaurant with great food. I am not keen on pizzas personally, but I have to say that I was tempted by what was coming out of the pizza oven in the garden.. We use this place before we board the Spain ferry each year, and never disappointed.

We waited to be seated. Two staff walked past ignoring us. We seated ourselves. We both ordered small pizzas, chips and drinks. My pizza dough had not been stretched properly/had shrunk in the oven it was less than half the size of the other pizza. The topping was very sparse and dry. I shan't be going again I felt ripped off as my bill came to £15.

A hidden gem you would not think you were in the middle of Southsea excellent customer service and a great menu

Beautiful garden ambiance set in a street where you would not expect such a place. Food quality is excellent, not the cheapest but great for those requiring GF and a nice kids menu. Well worth a visit, even for just a coffee etc.

Lovely venue for lunch or coffee. We sat in a covered area, there was plenty of seating in and out doors. Staff efficient and drinks and food delivered promptly. Would recommend.

Amazing location, romantic setting, very clean, friendly staff and top quality food. The only reason I didn't score 5/5 was because I could hear the chefs swearing in the garden by the pizza oven. Regardless I would visit again as the food was great.

Came for a special lunch and it was indeed special. Started with a fish sharing board ...delicious! And then had pizzas and rose wine. The service is fabulous, the decor is stylish and comfortable and the atmosphere is great. They also welcomed our spaniel with open arms and a big bowl of water. Definitely recommend this place and we'll certainly be back. Good work Garden team!!

I phoned the restaurant early morning at 07.30 and they kindly accommodated me for the 09.30 sitting. Beautiful decor inside as you walk through double doors. Plush seating and perfectly layed-up tables ready. Felt very welcoming at all times and nothing any trouble as very attentive service. Chose the cooked breakfast and all was presented perfectly. Nice selection of bread and preserves. Vegan options available. Enjoyed a pot of tea and fresh juice. Would definitely go there again on my next visit to Portsmouth. Thank you for the hospitality!

Had a lovely breakfast here with my Mum - we both had avocado on toast, with chilli flakes. It was delicious, To drink, I had an oat flat white and my Mum a skinny cappuccino. The service was really friendly and polite and the setting is just so lovely, it’s a real little oasis in the heart of Southsea. Highly recommend!

What a fabulous place to have lunch or a early evening meal in the garden, We've been a number of times now and tried most of the menu. Greek lamb chops being one of Great favourites. Very attentive and polite staff, a credit to your establishment.

Amazing food and good service. Has a nappy changing area and is dog friendly. Pizzas are made in a proper pizza oven and salads are very tasty. Enough space around to fit a pram round the table too.

Tough critic here. But this place is sensational. I had the surf and turf and it was the best steak I have ever had. This says a lot as I am very rarely happy with a steak and honestly sometimes don’t know why I order it out. But this was absolutely pure perfection. Lovely atmosphere great staff and service. We will be returning.

What an absolute gem, hidden in Southsea. The best gluten free pizza, I've ever had! Staff are amazing and so attentive. Cleanliness was great. Cannot fault. Can't wait to come back.

A real shame, it is a lovely setting and the service was very good but the food let the experience down. it was my sons birthday and we thought we would have a special meal but it was not great. The lamb cutlets were more like chops, not particularly well cooked and a bit tasteless and I love lamb. My son had the surf and turf and was very disappointed, the sirloin came out with prawns, all ready shelled, on top with a tin mug of chips (and I think some tasty tomatoes) . The sirloin was not well cooked, almost burnt on one side, raw on the other, and not a great piece of meat. For £29 this could have been so much better, I understand that the lack of presentation is their style but then you have to have great food to get away with this bare approach. Also no veggy or vegan options?

This restaurant is hidden away on Florence Road and is well worth a visit. A little hidden gem with beautiful food and excellent service. The pizzas are freshly cooked and awesome. We went twice during our 3 night stay in Southsea.

Super Essen und tolle location. Richtig gute Pizza, welche in Sichtweite im steinofen gebacken wird. Und auch die anderen Gerichte vom Grill waren hervorragend, dazu noch freundlicher Service. Nur zu empfehlen.

First visit to 'The Garden' which I found online looking for Italian restaurants in Southsea. .Might otherwise be easily missed even if driving down Florence Rd itself. But quaint little spot which will gain admirers, some no doubt to return. Decor is sweet and geared - as the name suggests - to outdoor eating.(dogs popular here) with a nice little courtyard feel. Prices are a bit steep but arent they all for something half decent. Menu is small but there is a homemade pizza facility which will always be a draw ( about £15e ) My partner felt a little short changed with two prawns perched on her 'surf and turf' steak dish and my Eton Mess could have been better presented, rather than in a 'cereal bowl' Nevertheless, this is being picky. Service was with a smile, interior clean and tidy and we both had a pleasant experience Worth a visit. X Ps Parking in Southsea can be annoying and expensive but managed to find a 3hr slot without too much trouble in Florence rd itself. I believe there is minimal parking before the courtyard itself too. So not just for locals...x

First time eating here for four out of the six of us. So glad I didn’t read the reviews beforehand as I would have been put off. Sat outside, quite busy considering it was early Saturday evening. Waitress came to table 3 or 4 times to see if we were ready to order and was absolutely fine when we weren’t. Not a lot to choose from for a vegetarian … I decided to have 3 small plates. Greek Salad (which I eat a lot of at home) was perfect, plentiful and delicious. Purple coleslaw was yummy and plentiful and skin on fries were lovely. I wasn’t expecting such large portions so would probably order 2 small plates next time. Everyone enjoyed their food. Would definitely go again.

Went for a birthday lunch, sadly it was pouring down, but we were still able to enjoy the outdoors by being seating the garden room. Lily was a fantastic server, braving the rain and giving attentive service. The Caprice pizza tasted delicious, the pesto was the perfect touch!

The cutest garden with amazing food! We ordered Salad, Salmon and Passion fruit smoothie and all well served and so good. The portions are big enough to share. The garden is decorated with lights and colourful flowers. You must visit this hidden spot in Southsea!

We came as a group of 8 of us today and had the most amazing time. Food is fantastic, their vegan offering is outstanding and I haven't been to anywhere that offers all vegan desserts in over four years. Our server was amazing and coped with our very particular coffee order at the end of the meal. I would come back in a heartbeat!

Excellent meal. I had surf & turf perfect medium steak, well rested. The salmon my wife had was crispy on the skin and perfectly cooked. Very attentive staff. Thoroughly recommend

Great place, friendly staff. The garden is so beautifully decorated with many plants. The food is a bit more expensive than the online menu- around £3 more probably because it is summer. And the sugar free drinks are proced equally with the sugar added. There arent meal deals neither. Total meal for two with soft drink around £35. The place is dog friendly and the food is delicious. The pizzas are handmade

Fab restaurant. Food cooked perfectly, service was excellent. Kudos to the South African chef cooking outside on a wood burning oven, and BBQ. A little gem in Southsea and a wonderful outdoor location.

What a really nice treat for our family. We ate in the summer house as the weather was hit and miss. Lovely garden , good atmosphere, very attentive staff and yummy food. Not cheap but food quality very nice.

We have eaten here a couple of times recently - one breakfast and one lunch. Both were excellent and a nice space to sit and relax in.

Went there with enthusiasm since I hd some great reviews. Breakfast menu quite basic for the environment it’s set. Asked for a Waffle with extra “eggs” (as stated in the menu) - dough was completely raw in the middle and one sloppy poached egg came on the side (in my opinion when eggs are stated, at least two should come, otherwise paying extra £2 for one egg is a bit London like) At no point did anyone asked if our food was okay. We asked for the bill, again, no asking if we enjoyed the food and service. So: want some nice food and service, not really the place. Want to chill with a cuppa, go for it!

Great pizza. Maybe the best in Portsmouth. And a very chilled environment. Only reason I gave 3 stars is because you can't book for breakfast. They say they accept only walk-ins, but twice we got told that they are full because of hotel guests, even though the tables where empty. If they sort this out they will get my 5 stars

What a hidden gem! Love this new find, it’s a beautiful little location, spotlessly clean, great friendly service and a great range of vegan food too (their cakes are divine!). It did start to rain a little but that wasn’t a problem as the umbrellas keep you dry. Will definitely be back! :D

Shared a friends birthday here tonight. Beautiful warm, barmy evening. Fabulous food, best pizzas ever, I personally had a couple of small plates, not small at all in fact huge and so tasty. lovely drinks, perfect ambience. The service was awesome. Seriously we had an amazing evening in an oasis of loveliness. It was like a perfect moment. Totally recommend this amazing find

A lovely atmosphere - feels very fancy but also completely relaxed and very cosy. Staff were very friendly, even if they were still working out stuff because the restaurant is new. Prices are not massively cheap, but a meal with starters, mains and drinks came to roughly £14 a head, which is fair for an establishment of such a high standard. We had some delicious big olives for our starter, and then thoroughly enjoyed our meals: a chicken beast burger and a barbecue pulled pork burger, with chips. They have a good selection of dishes on their menu, from breakfast to burgers to grill. There's also a special vegan menu too - great to have it as an option! We sat inside because it was raining, but the outside seating area is very pretty and I can imagine this being a very popular spot in the summer. You can also see directly into the kitchen where the wood-fired pizza oven is, and see the chef working. Definitely recommend visiting such a unique place.
