Circolo Pizzeria in Portsmouth

Really cosy venue with great pizza. We had dough balls and calamari as a starter, and then the piccante al pecorino and porchetta pizzas. Such a nice atmosphere, really lovely waiter, and perfect food. I would recommend to go straight for the pizzas as with the starters it will be too filling! A shame the tiramisu was not available today

Another one of our favourite places - Just gets better - have not been for a while, but if you haven’t been please go - Service is great we were served by the owner - Some friends were there too ! Good menu and pizza and pasta top notch ! Looking forward to next visit !!

Another great evening at the Circolo Pizzeria. If you count the espresso martini as a dessert, I had three excellent courses. The Caprese Salad starter was one of the best I've ever had in England with good olive oil and tasty little basil additions. The Rusticana pizza (which could have been converted to a calzone - which I shall try on my next visit) was delicious and filling. Good wine and good service ensured that all four of us enjoyed this teatime meal and nobody needed to eat again that evening. The place itself is loaded with character and highly recommended.

Every time I visit Portsmouth I always try and come here I went last night and wow pizza was perfect and the lasagne was amazing Really nice staff and defo worth the money

The pizza was delicious but my order of chips wasn't worth the money I paid, the mozzarella was just in a clump and they weren't very warm, would definitely order a pizza again though.

100% the Best Pizza on the Island without a doubt. Probably even the best I’ve had. And the doughballs I cannot recommend enough. They are stunning. Was recommended here by a friend who took me here for my Birthday last year, I had to come back and so glad I did.

Update: The way the owner has responded to what I think is a fair review is an insight into this business and its values. Do yourselves a favour and skip this place. Went for the lunch time deal, offering any pizza and a soft drink for £8. Unfortunately the pizza was way smaller than the ones you see in other pictures, meaning it’s not a deal at all, you just pay less for a much smaller portion…No wonder it was empty. Pizza was good but didn’t have much topping.

Tried these for the 1st time, pizza's were OK, just needed a bit more cooking. Also, they forgot to slice the pizza. Good job, we had a pizza cutter. Not the cheapest for an average pizza Delivery was quick, though.

I had dinner here last night, drawn by the positive reviews, and the place was no disappointment. Pizza has thin dough, it is flavoursome and topped up with fresh and quality ingredients. The tiramisu tasted really nice, all the ingredients blended perfectly together. The place has a modern layout, with relaxing music played in the background. Friendly and attentive service from staff. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in Portsmouth.

It's situated around the corner of Palmarston Street. I like their pizza. I am not an Italian and don't know much about pizza. I prefer 'thin' pizza to the thick one. Their pizza is not very crispy but i can smell the amore of the flour. I think it should be one of the best around. The waitress there is very nice. Anyway if you could spend few more pounds then you should try.

Great pizza restaurant with nice vibe and character. They also serve cocktails and the staff are friends. The pizza was excellent with some interesting specials that work. Pizza dough was light, thin and slightly crunchy. Fire ingredients used which is what you want on pizzas.

Best pizza in town - fact!! The pizza here is so good, every time I go to order a pasta, I just can't bring myself to do it. So, sadly, I can't comment on the deliciousness of the pasta items on the menu. BUT the pizzas are ace! The staff are really friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere and reasonably priced. If you like pizza and you're in Pompey, you must try this place!!!!

Waste of space , can't make pizza to save there life ...

Lovely atmosphere, staff pleasent but it seemed like they were understaffed. Pizzas a little burnt, sauces came out to table once we had almost finished. Our espresso martini was really really bad, tasted like the dreggs of coffee left in a machine. However, believe they were just super understaffed and would try there again.

Popped in for a start of term treat ! Greeted warmly as always by Rebecca - had a nice cold Coca Cola and had three terrific pizzas always pick the americano / the neopolotana and the chicken and peppers pizza - came very quickly piping hot smelling great looking beautiful and everyone wolfed them down ! Look forward to going back soon and trying the rest of the menu ! Always a pleasure - thank you guys !!

When this place is great, it’s excellent but last couple of times we have visited the pizzas have arrived extremely delayed and almost cold. It’s like receiving a day old pizza by the time it got to the table. There is no excuse for cold food other than not enough table staff collecting from the kitchen. Pizza should be hot when eating in. It’s a 30 second walk from the kitchen to table. The restaurant wasn’t super busy. Almost feels like they are run off their feet getting deliveroo out and prioritising. Circolo doesn’t have enough front of house staff to run back and check when they are ready for the restaurant! Real disappointment and will be giving it a delay before returning. Hopefully a momentary blip. The second chance is because it has been excellent.

Best food we’ve eaten out in a long time. The waitress recommended one of the specials and it was honestly to die for. The other food we got was equally as delicious and the service was great. Will absolutely be back!

I booked for 8 people. The service was great staff very friendly. All the food came out together...quite a feat! It was a great evening. Reasonably priced too, always a bonus! Will definitely be going back.

Easily one of the best pizza restaurants for miles around. Wonderful taste and clearly a tried and tested recipe. I had a delicious funghi and our server was very attentive. Couldn’t fault it and the service was quick too. Will go again asap and try not to eat the pizza before getting some pictures!

Really very well looked after tonight. It was a small restaurant but the waitress really looked after us. Starters out quickly and all food hot and exactly what was needed after a long day walking around Portsmouth. Would definitely recommend as a relaxed and easy dinner experience. 5 stars from me.

Great service, great food and great prices. The staff here went the extra mile to entertain the kids too, which was above and beyond. The setting is lovely and gives little hints as to what the place was in a previous life. Certainly will be returning as this is now a family favourite and I definitely recommend trying it out yourself.

We were the only diners, on a Friday lunchtime, and had visited on a recommendation, and whilst the food was good, the host clearly didn't want us there: he was rude in his demeanour, his attitude toward us sucked, and he seemed to thoroughly enjoy - to an immense level - having thumping dance-music playing to accompany his continual banging of cutlery (and whilst there may have been a purpose to this... perhaps it aids, somehow, in their cleaning... it was incredibly annoying, and seemingly done just to ruin our experience)? So, if it wasn't for the 'gentleman' running the show that day, we would probably have enjoyed ourselves, but we will never darken the doorstep of this venue again, as people like that do not deserve repeat custom!

We had pizza and spaghetti and lovely wine service was great - so welcoming and efficient - please try the Italian liqueurs thanks G - another great great dinner thank you.

Really hate to do poor reviews but thought I’d give circolo another go after 4 years. After reading the fairly decent reviews. I remember not being amazed the first time but thought would give it another go as it’s so local to me. I ordered a rusticana pizza , on the menu online it stated £12.50 ,when I got there to collect it was £13.50. It is around 12 inches so quite small for the cost, so I was hoping the quality would be up to scratch. To be honest it was really lacking in flavour and Very dry. And not much to it. Even some shop ones I’ve purchased have been nicer I’m sorry to say.. :( I just feel slightly robbed for £13.50.. Which is a shame. Because the restaurant itself has really a nice feel to it. And the Customer service I couldn’t fault. Just sadly the pizza. Maybe other things on the menu may taste nicer 🤷‍♀️

It was a busy summer Friday evening in Southsea but we were able to walk into Circolo and we glad we did! It was service with smile and we kept it simple with a pizza and we were not disappointed- all our pizzas were delicious. We would happily return!

Now this is what an independent Italian restaurant should be like. Great atmosphere, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff and incredible food. Fresh ingredients, simply put together and put together very, very well indeed. I will most certainly be back.

Food ordered through Deliveroo. Pizza substandard dry and hard. Garlic bread covered in pepper. Fries delivered in plastic (chinese) tub again covered in pepper and soggy. Perhaps a better experience dining in?! As far as we were concerned £45 wasted.
