Finished the night here after visiting a few pubs in Portsmouth. All I can say is you need to pay a visit to experience it. Had a great time with some great people. The pub has brilliant decor making it feel nice and cosy. A real mix of customers, young and older. We will definitely be back on our next pub crawl in Portsmouth.

Been there on recommendation of a friend. It's a very typical pub, very friendly service, great variety of beer and cider. They have clean bathrooms, a cute garden backyard and another room with comfy chairs. The whole atmosphere is VERY NICE! I can imagine you find something funny or at least new everytime you come here

Love The Phoenix. Always made very welcome by staff and customers. Meat raffle and open the box on a Sunday. Gents loos have been done up but some of the locals say it has ruined the atmosphere 😉 Two sides of the bar in the main building, smoking area outside, plus the games room beyond that. Lots of memorabilia and things to look at on the walls and ceiling. Highly recommended.

The hidden gem off of the main Albert Rd strip. This pearl of a backstreet boozer - frequented by stars of the entertainment world both past and present, is just top drawer. A local haunt during the day, followed by the nomadic trudge of boozy night time people as the sun gives way to night time. Full of memorabilia and a well kept urban pub garden, it's a must.

One of Southsea's best pubs. Great little bar that gets very busy at weekends. Directly behind the Kings Theatre, it is perfect for pre show drinks. Bar snacks only for food, but this is a proper English historic pub. Plenty of snugs/ corners to relax. It is a small courtyard garden but a beautiful style and very eccentric with its theme, a hidden snug out the back, full of references to local history. This is also very popular as a local smoker's garden... along with cigar smokers. A perfect place to relax with friends.

Quirky is a word often used to describe this pub and it sums it up well. There are several "nooks and crannies" plus an almost tropical garden. My favourite place for a drink in Portsmouth. Down to earth feel about it, unique experience each time I go. I feel this is one of the last remaining pubs with a great atmosphere that doesn’t require slot machines or excessive amounts of sport screens. You feel greeted by the owners/staff and they treat you well, even if you’re not a weekly local. Loved coming here with family or good friends, especially liked what they did to light up the garden with a luminous glow of fairy lights and nature, to accompany the ubiquitous British pub.

Second oldest pub in Portsmouth and it is the highlight of the place. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The room is small with wonky electricity and plumbing, but I guess one must expect that in a 300 year old building. The wifi works well. Staff are businesslike.
