I love this place, it's where I always stand to meet people. It has the best coffee in Portsmouth and I love the peanut butter cookies they make. Their food menu changes frequently and I always like what I have.

Amazing ‘Shroom Southsea’ street food pop up, the food was so amazing and creative, the loaded fries are the best I’ve ever had for sure! I will 100% be back!! Definitely not one to miss if you’re a foodie

From my experience Southsea is not having an abundance of nice coffee places, but this one is definitely great! Consistently good coffee and I tried their brekkie bagel which was amazing too! I will recommend!

My partner and I were visiting from the US for a week and came to this spot every day for drinks. We didn't have the food as it was all vegan but the Matcha and coffee was 10/10. All UK sourced and they didn't upcharge for alternative milk which we appreciate. I do wish that the food had meat options as it all sounded great but I get that it's a vegan spot.

I absolutely love this place and have never had a bad experience in my years of coming here. The coffees are great and there are heaps other drinks to choose from. There’s lots of options on the dine-in menu, which has some staple options and other options which change throughout the seasons. I usually stop by just to grab a coffee and a snack - again lots of options to choose from, I usually go for a brownie, or an sos roll. I recently tried one of their focaccia sandwiches - it was delicious (and massive!). The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, they welcome dogs also. A must if you’re vegan.

Me and my partner have been in Portsmouth for a few days and was so happy when we stumbled across this gem! The wraps and bagels were amazing and the cakes/bakes were absolutely delicious, particularly the oat & berry flapjack, and the peanut butter cookie! The owners(?) were so friendly and after mentioning that we were about to leave for a long drive home, they very kindly gave us some complimentary cinnamon buns! I don't usually make reviews but this cafe was worth making the account for. Definitely worth the visit! :)

This used to be my favourite place but the last 3 visits we've had poor service, the food was OK/mid but disappointing as not as good as it used to be. Enough that I came back to change my review because it was misleading. The only constant remains the coffee which is always delicious.

I went to Hunter Gatherer with a friend today and had a very lovely time. We had the Enchilada and Breakfast Bagel and two oat lattes. The food was superb and didn’t take long to come out. Great food and a friendly waitress. Highly recommend this cafe on Albert Road 🥯🌯☕️🍽️

This is the best café in Southsea! Amazing food, friendly staff and top-quality coffee.

I'd been wanting to try HG for some time, having heard good things. Unfortunately, now that most cafes serve 'milk alternatives' and vegan food, the market is more competitive and HG is a bit shabby, and it took ages for our order to be taken. Drinks and cake were all OK. It's good not to be charged extra for oat milk like in most cafes. Plastic plants are a pet irritation!

Lovely little city cafe with great coffee, delicious food and good friendly service. We chose the breakfast bowl and the HG Enchilada, both very tasty and we added sides of garlic mushrooms and breakfast potatoes, all very yummy. The cakes are all really good, eat in or take away. Fair prices. Worth a visit.

I don’t usually write reviews but this place is amazing and if you are in Southsea you need to stop by!! I had the pistacho and rose cake and the cinnamon roll with a matcha latte, 100% vegan and out of this world😍 Also friendly staff and a nice seating area

It’s one of my favourite places to go. The coffee is amazing, very tasty meals and cakes to go with it! Dog friendly and a lovely place to spend your time in. Could not recommend enough. The takeout options are just as good, especially the sausage rolls and new sandwiches they’ve just started rolling out :) <3

Hunter Gatherer Coffee is such a unique & special plan. Either for a quick coffee on-the-go, or for that (so awaited) afternoon drink with your bestie over a nice cuppa & yummy cakes (!!) it IS simple the best place! The staff is very nice & caring and the service excellent 👏🏼 I couldn't recommend a better coffee shop at Albert Rd 🤩

I ordered a sandwich from here on Uber Eats and it was, hands down, the best sandwich I have ever eaten. It's a vegan menu here but even if you eat meat, I implore you to try this place out. I'm not vegan or vegetarian but if I were eating this all the time, I think I'd be convinced to convert. It's just good, nutritious, flavourful food and I cannot give high enough praise. Do yourself a favour and treat yourself!

Superb spot for a great coffee and lovely slice of cake, was passing and heard great things, so I thought, why not give it a go. Just a plain americano for me with a slice of raspberry and almond cake. What a gem! Staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was great. Lots of people in and out, always a good sign. Will be returning.

Delicious breakfasts, brunches and cakes! Lovely place and lovely people too. Really recommend it. The food is all vegan and really tasty. My favourites are the tempeh bacon and scrambled tofu.

Delicious oat milk mocha and cinnamon buns. I had the spiced pancakes another and they were a little sweet for me but I think that's personal preference. Definitely worth checking out.

Cute local independent vegan cafe. The coffee was really good. I had the burger - excellent. Impressed. However was paired with below par breakfast potatoes - bit of a shame. My friend had the ginger pancakes. They looked great but we're a little 'naked'. Perhaps need some fruit or something else you go with them. This place has HUGE potential but just needs a little more attention in the kitchen. Could be a real winner in the future.

Can’t wait to go back here again, absolutely loved the food and atmosphere. The staff were lovely and after asking, even gave drink suggestions - I recommend the mermaid matcha latte for those discouraged by the strong taste of matcha. The portion was very filling and the menu had many interesting and unique options. First time trying scrambled tofu and really enjoyed it along with the homemade bbq beans and potatoes. They also offer to takeaway so will definitely return to try their other fun flavoured drinks!

My visit was a spur of the moment thing as I was desperate to find somewhere with a baby change facility. I popped in to HG to see if they had one and the staff were just so lovely. A customer jumped up to help with the door and immediately offered his table to me - I always think they type of customer a business attracts is a reflection on the establishment and I can say straight away that this was the case. The staff are so lovely and polite. When finished sorting my baby, I grabbed a coffee to go. Everything was lovely and I shall definitely return with partner soon.

Being new to the area I've been keen to try places out, this place comes highly recommended but doesn't live up to the hype, vegan cinnamon rolls for a start to cover up its inadequacy, the sweetness has been turned up to 3,000,000 which takes away from what could be a nice pastry, one particular member of staff was also very grumpy and obtuse (older gentleman with his hat on like he's 12) and the coffee was absolutely bang average, not sure if it was a bad batch or badly worked but it was nuclear hot, quite bitter and lacked any discernable flavour. Shame really as I wanted to love this place.

It's a great little plant-based café. Food is good and the staff are lovely. The only problem is that it is freezing in there in the winter. As a result your food gets cold really quickly and I end up being cold to the bone whenever I eat in there. If it was warmer it would be much more comfortable for customers

Super friendly staff and lovely atmosphere

Was not happy with our experience. After seeing their Instagram we were super excited to stop here for coffee and brunch. However what we received tasted nothing like how nicely it was presented! I had the breakfast burrito. It was so bland I could not differentiate between the tomato, avocado, scrambled tofu or potato. I thought maybe there was something wrong with me? So I tried my partners baked beans and they were bursting with flavour. So what happened? I tried asking our waitress and got ignored, and when she did come over she was quick to leave again despite me being half way through uttering an “excuse me” My partner enjoyed his food so that’s ok. But he agreed the coffee was awful too.

Went here last weekend and had a fantastic breakfast. Great choice of food, lovely staff and it all looked and tasted fantastic.

Always a go-to for me when I want a comforting vegan lunch and coffee

Came here for a working lunch and had the burrito, the breakfast potatoes, and some biscoff cake and ice cream. My friend had the bagel. I didn't realise that literally everything was plant based which was a lovely surprise. But literally best lunch I've had out in a while and I usually work out of a cafe a couple days a week. Not unreasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes, service was lovely and the atmosphere and decor were spot on too. I will definitely be back! My friend who isn't vegan said she had a great time with the bagel too.

Have been visiting Hunter Gatherer numerous times for hot drinks and brunch. Always friendly, attentive staff with a good atmosphere. Great place to sit and do some work with lots of plug sockets upstairs and more seating down the back.

Perfect little place to have breakfast or lunch at. Everything is so tasty you can’t go wrong with any choice. Staff is really nice and accommodating.

We had a hearty lunch at this vegan coffee shop. It is found at the south east of Porthsmouth and it allowed us to walk back to the train station on the coastal road. The place is not so crowded and the service was fast. You can have a lunch and dessert in £12-£15. However, i would recommend serving the tea in a tea cup rather than a coffee mug. It makes a whole difference.

I waited in a line of 3...slowly moved up. No recognition that I was waiting- customer infrint had moved to one side. No ' sorry for the wait or ill be with you ...' walked away without coffee, my choice. Morning coffees should be quicker or at least slowly done with awareness and acknowledgement of other customers waiting.

We came for some brunch- posh avocado on gluten free bread. The food here was scrumptious and the gluten free bread was a nice find - not the typical you get from the supermarket loaded with nutionally poor flours - we found out that they make it themselves - good on you! The desserts were also yummy - I had the brownie with some plant based ice cream. It was also lovely to see some dogs with their owners at the cafe.

Amazing plant-based cafe in Southsea. The menu is quite big and varied, and the BBQ pineapple quinoa burger I had was really tasty. Friendly quick service too!

Have enjoyed a couple of visits to Hunter Gatherer recently, lovely quirky little cafe, the food is delicious, great choice, and the smoothies so tasty. I always enjoy their lovely coffees too. The staff are so nice and friendly. The cake selection is mouthwatering, particularly liked the carrot cake and the biscoff cheesecake! We will be back.

probably the best chai latte in Portsmouth.. vegan sausage rolls ( sausage definitely not included) and a great selection of cakes and pastries. especially the earl grey and blueberry bake.

Met a friend here for lunch. Very impressed with the interesting menu - I had the Singapore salad which was most enjoyable. I also enjoyed my first ever turmeric latte - I will definitely have one of those again. Good service and good value.
