Great location for walking around Portsmouth Our room was very comfortable, the staff were lovely. We will visit again

We had no room to open our suitcase. Location was good. Staff helpful. This is a bare bones accommodation.only have have street parking.

Great spot with lovely friendly staff. Room let down by the cleanliness - sheets and pillowcases were used and smelt of body odour - although the bed was made…..Bathroom shower floods the entire bathroom floor and is very slippery. Half mini bottles of the bathroom shower gel & shampoo left in bathroom. Could do much better with attention to these small but important details. Wouldn’t stay again.

Everything about Becketts is lovely. Beautiful building, tastefully decorated throughout. Log burner made a great first impression. Friendly staff, lovely room, yummy breakfast and easy access to building and bedroom via key pad. Will definitely be back.

The service and hospitality was beyond anything I’ve experienced in a very long time. Room great and the breakfast was spot on the next day. Excellent!

Beautiful panelled room with bay window overlooking the front. Lovely en-suite wet room and also tea and coffee making facilities with added biscuits too.

Ideal location close to the seafront, castle & old Portsmouth. The staff were friendly and happy for us to check in early ( we were attending a wedding nearby) The rooms are very compact but clean & comfortable. The standout was breakfast, which was one of the best we’ve had.

The food and service here is amazing. I had the most delicious pasta dish and my husband had a pulled pork and pineapple burger.l with a cherry milkshake. Sounds terrible, he said it tasted great. We also had breakfast here. Both the full English and eggs benedict were excellent. Really good quality ingredients. All the staff are lovely, despite their being two large bookings in on the night we ate our service did not suffer.

I've not been to Becketts for a long time and Im very glad I returned last evening. Although just for a few drinks with a business associate the atmosphere was great and we were looked after by a lovely young lady who made the evening fun and enjoyable. A great range of drinks, cocktails and spirits and I'll definitely return for food in the near future.

A well cooked meal with all the trimmings. Service was extremely attentive and we were most grateful. We could not stay for breakfast, early ferry trip, so the chef left us the most amazing sandwiches. Thank you so much. The best service since our start of travelling a month ago. Keep it up you are setting a wonderful trend for the rest of the hospitality industry.

Friday night drinks and light bites in the bar were amazing! I think they have a new menu (king prawns were unreal). Really nice buzzy atmosphere and lovely server who couldn’t do enough for us. Becketts we will definitely be back again!

What an amazing experience at Becketts! From the moment we arrived we were looked after so well and all said it’s the best service and dining experience we’ve had in the Portsmouth & Southsea area in a long time! Every single staff member was fantastic and provided great service, particular the lady who greeted us (on a Friday eve in April) and the man from Chicago who looked after us all evening, he was so friendly, attentive and professional! The food was delicious, the cocktails were great, the service was out of this world and we had an amazing time! Thank you so much Becketts we’ll all be back ❤️

We popped in for a nightcap after eating elsewhere but the place was dead on a Friday evening. The reason is that they are pricing themselves out of the market. Our server was friendly and informative but the drinks were overpriced and the cocktails were not very tasty. A little cheeseboard would have been welcome.

Fantastic hotel and restaurant. Lovely staff who can’t do enough for you. Great rooms and amazing food. New menu launched when we were there - great food at reasonable prices. Once you find it, it is very nice. Bigger inside than it looks. It's quirky, different and had a nice skylight type of thing, so very nice with the weather we had yesterday. They do explain when the food is ready it just comes out even if the whole tables order isn't ready, thought that was weird but it worked and food was great. The chips were amazing. As a fussy eater I found a couple bits so you can still enjoy it but if you're not, fill your boots. Waiters and waitresses are friendly and helpful. The downside is the section where we were the lights are too bright for that little area, mirrors all around made it cool but very confusing too. The stairs to the kitchen near the bar are very out in the open, making you think you're going to fall down them when you pass.

The Roast is Sublime This roast is easily the best in Portsmouth. I was told by a friend that religiously comes in for the roast and having been in for the weekday means I have it a try. I was served by a lovely waiter named Izzy and the roast was absolutely lovely and the hotel looks amazing.

Booked a table months ago and when we arrived I was told they couldn’t find the booking which looked incredibly bad to the person I had brought for a business dinner trying to impress! After 10 minutes of prodding the iPad our reservation “suddenly was there”. The restaurant was quiet so not sure why we couldn’t just be seated straight away? I had the vegan burger which was actually very good but the chips tasted like pure grease which was a shame. My guest had the goan curry and said it was awful and tasted better in 1 star Indian restaurants in Bristol. Safe to say I won’t be winning the business I intended to thanks to shocking service and food. I expected so much more following years of hearing good things about this place. Our bill was also miscalculated. We had a bottle of wine on the bill which we never had. When we enquired the manager simply said “well it’s on your tab so you must have had it” then an American waiter floated over and said “oh no that’s for the other table” then the manager just huffed and walked away to amend the bill. Truly shocking. Reason for the 2 stars is the inside is lovely. My advice to everyone is go support a local business but not one which wants to fleece you, patronise you and serve you complete drivel.

Very disappointed. Ordered the Goan curry and it was really bad.. Watery, bland, no flavours whatsoever. I suspect the prawns were frozen. The rice was very dry. It was £18, definitely not worth it. There isn't much choice on the menu either. We were offered 10% off the bill because neither our friend or I liked the curry. Not much of considering I didn't much of it as it was not nice.
