Spur of the moment visit . A tardis community pub with colourful outdoor seating area. £12 Freshly cooked Sunday roast drew us in. We had Lamb and Beef both tasted better than they looked and were very good value

Beautiful friendly landlady makes the beer more enjoyable.

Decent pub with lovely, friendly staff. Delicious food, nice bright courtyard area for outdoor sitting. Sunday Roasts are popular here and quality meat is always used. Lamb is offered where some places do not offer that option. Different sorts of entertainment on some nights.

Royal Albert Pub Southsea is great bit not when get idiots taking the piss out of my partner Delboy Stamp one of the girls in the there tonight was like to ed what have you done with your life your from tesco girls are really rude the girl was in great small top and trousers 👖

This place really is a hidden gem along Albert Road in Southsea. The staff are really lovely and welcoming, the atmosphere is excellent, there’s even a fantastic little garden out the back. Loads of events and DJs. Highly, highly recommended!

Went to the royal Albert a couple of times on a Friday night, good atmosphere with a live DJ , but can be busy sometimes

We went for what I can only describe as the best Sunday roast I have ever had. I can't recommend this enough! Definitely put it on your bucket list!!!

Never disappointed with this pub been coming here since it opened and has only got better, like a good wine, lol 10 out 10 again and again consistently on random different days so i mean it's a no brainer if you like good food really reasonably priced and the service you wud expect these days. I've said it before and will say it again, I highly recommend this pub for your Sunday roast or Friday night it's got it all wins for me hand's down

Remember when you’re Nanna used to pile up the Sunday dinner cos ‘you’re a growing lad’ ? Well you get that here and it’s top quality! Honestly can’t fault it, great ale on tap and the service was brilliant. Highly recommended, this is the benchmark for the pub Sunday lunch!! Oh it’s dog friendly too.

Nice pub, quick service when getting drinks. Unfortunately I can't be any more complementary, as our night was ruined. Unfortunately the security staff at the pub left a lot to be desired, when my friends were being repeatedly harassed by a man (making lewd comments + much worse) we were told by security that they would wait for the man to finish his drink before intervening. They also said they'd "heard similar things' about this man before, which begs the question why he's not barred for life already!? It was mentioned that to take action, they'd have to see him do something, which goes against all licensing rules and safety/security training that I underwent when working at a pub previously- allegations like that should be taken seriously, especially when multiple customers are verifying the behaviour of one man. This resulted in us having to take matters into our own hands as the security did nothing to help, so we had to jeer and shout at the man till he left of his own accord. We deserved to be listened to, and the security did not do their job of safeguarding- it's worth mentioning that my friends are regulars at this pub, so I dread to think how somebody who didn't know the staff would be treated. I hope they can properly train their staff to be able to offer protection and a safe space to their customers in future.

LOVELY cocktails, most staff I have met are incredibly friendly and provided a very quick service. Regular nights for karaoke, Djs etc. Good venue

We come from Bournemouth to the Kareoke on Sunday nights. Every element is just great, friendly welcoming staff and locals. We get greeted like locals from people of all ages. No trouble, no drama. Just go! You won't regret it. The food looks incredible will stop for a lunch next time and see you all again very soon. Keep up the great work

Had Sunday lunch here for the first time recently. Pros: one of the best Sunday roasts we've had for a long time. really well thought out and executed ingredients and cooked properly in the old way. Full marks to the chef! bar service was quick friendly and efficient. you can tell a great deal about a pub by the type of people who go there and all seemed rather decent. Cons: I'm a fan of real ales which are especially complimentary with a good roast. there seemed to be none available. Beer prices are at the upper end of the market for a regular type of pub. Other: the staff aren't too happy if you haven't booked for lunch. I get this but it's always nice to feel appreciated for my custom regardless of protocol

Shouting out other staff members names like you are calling back a dog is no way to run a business. There needs to be more respect amongst staff before I will ever return! To the young woman who served us our food today at about 2pm, thank you for your kind and professional service

Went here for a Sunday Roast, on a recommendation, it was a 79th birthday roast! And it didn't disappoint, food was hot, fresh veg, all the meats, and veggie selection, definitely 5 stars.

Sunday roast served til 4pm. Hello, can I order a roast dinner please? (3:25pm, place almost empty) Staff: Not now you can't, no. We're fully booked, and anyway the kitchen closes in 35 minutes. Draw your own conclusions. Beer ok, 1 star.

The service at this place is incredible. It’s so nice seeing friendly bar staff like Laura. Laura honestly made my night. She was amazing. I was a tad skeptic. But after talking to Laura and the manager of the place it was great. Kind and lighthearted all I can say is I recommend.

Best roast dinner in town. Would highly recommend. Book a table to avoid disappointment. Only ordered a small roast and was unable to clean my plate. Variety of 4 meats and vegetarian option available. Delicious

Perfect Sunday roast!! We went for a Sunday Roast and we were very surprised with it!! The portions are very generous and it feels like you are eating a Roast dinner at home. The lady serving us was cheerful and very kind. Definitely we will come back! Highly recommended!

Not my kind of pub. Standing room only at 3pm. Sticky floor and banging drum n bass. But hey it was raining and we were passing by. It sold beer.

Came for Sunday roast and was 10 of 10 the best one I have in Portsmouth all homemade with all the trimmings and more amazing portions complementarys to the chef and front house really friendly and quick definitely will come back

Had a fabulous roast. Loads of meet. Spuds hot and crispy. Plenty of veg. Could not fault. Sarah had veggie which she says was delicious. Will definitely go ahead but next time order a medium as large was huge!!

I never have a bad time in this pub. The team is great, the managers fabulous. The people in there can be a bit common sometimes,but their always a good laugh and friendly. It’s just a great venue. Hats off to the Team

My friend and I saw on the menu that The Royal Albert serve white bait as a starter. We told the cook we're portuguese, that back in Portugal we eat it as a main course meal and really miss it. She offered to serve it as a main course with chips and salad. One of the best meals we've ever had. Really well made. Beautifully served. So friendly as well. We'll return.

Wide open beer garden, with reasonably priced drinks. Went in on a Sunday and the karoake was so much fun! Roast dinner was cooked so well and staff were more than friendly. Couldn't suggest this place anymore

Not the same atmosphere 😥 but no one to blame... It's a preference thing... I prefer last year! Staff however were just amazing 👌 bar staff and door staff extremely understanding and informative. Doing better than most and that needs applause all round... Thanks to The Royal Albert 👊 we shall return

Just wanted to congratulate you on looking after us so well for my Mum's 80th birthday. We were out in the garden and the staff were lovely. Very friendly, kept the drink orders coming, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you, we had a wonderful evening.

Just as you'd expect really, the staff are relatively helpful and the prices aren't too high.

Good place to visit for drinks or pub foor, always welcoming. Sunday lunch is a fantastic roast selection of meats on offer, plates are amazingly packed if your a hungry horse this is a must, well cooked, open kitchen si you able to see the chef dishing up your meal. Give it a go you won't be disappointed unless you go after 1.30 as it is very popular and can run out or be excessively busy. Don't say I didn't warn you on that.

Good grub and grog at reasonable prices. Huge breakfast served all day for £7.50. Could use a little sprucing up inside to get the 5 stars but still worth a visit. Also very central to pretty much everything in Portsmouth/Southsea.

Big old, slightly dilapidated pub. Friendly barmaid and good atmosphere when I visited, including pre-match football fans. Decent pint of London Pride. I sat out the back in the pub's yard, which has a good amount of seating.

OK, but no food,pretty basic,during the day, left and went to bold forester,we were hungry.

Nice friendly organised service. Availability of drinks (spirits) were a tad limited and a bit pricey. The roast dinner was second to none, a lot of it, delicious and amazing value for money. Would have been nice to have a vegetarian option such as a nut roast.

Watched the rugby here and had a lovely english breakfast. The roast dinners look amazing. Will have to go back and try. Very friendly staff and a great night on sunday when they do karaoke.
