A quiet place to enjoy coffee and a snack while browsing books. The coffee is good and not overpriced, and the mini red velvet cake is delicious - not too filling or too expensive. Service is very friendly and efficient. I'm sure I will be back soon.

Lovely cafe, lovely staff, great atmosphere, what's not to like in a bookshop, and its dog friendly too. They have it just right!

Went to try out he smores hot chocolate, this was my 3rd time trying to actually buy it because other days they closed earlier or started to pre close really early so even when it was open I couldn't buy it. This time it was open had to wait in the queue for long and thete was only 1 person in front of me. The girl who served me kept rolling her eyes when someone brought back food thst was made wrong. In the end I just got a normal hot chocolate that tasted horrible. Every staff seems really stressed due to staff shortage. Never going back

Well, what a lovely place to eat and drink!! It had a great atmosphere (we went there after the Costa across from the bookshop was full and had many dirty tables) I had the soya mocha (delicious, and they made it exactly how I asked) my friend had a soya coconut latte (we are both veggies) tried the cupcakes which were lush.. apparently they are vegan.. would never have known.. lovely! I even asked for 2 to take away!!! Was a lovely treat before bed! Would come back again and probably won’t bother with the Costa that’s across the road... much better service, atmosphere and products. Thankyou cafe w A+ xx

I went in to the cafe and brought a soya mocha, slice of vegan cake and two new cupcakes. the soya mocha was fine but a tad on the sweet side and that's without adding sugar. the cake looked good but way to set and no taste. well there new vegan cupcakes were disgusting. the lady had no idea the flavour which I find very embarrassing for her. took them home for me and my mom vegan partner. and oh dear. how the heck can they sell such an awful product. it's an insult to other vegan bakers. the icing was like beyond sweet. but I'm to it and our teeth felt like they were melting. the sponge just disintegrated in to almost like crumbs. and the taste was well. no words can describe what the taste was. how on earth can they think this is acceptable for a vegan cake is beyond me. awful is a nice word putting it. it's the store that is in Portsmouth near Barclays bank main shops are. I will be in this morning demanding a full refund. if they are going to sell which file vegan cakes. at least do two things. make the staff aware of what flavour they are. and price then to the worth of the cupcakes making free of charge. come to think of it. even if they were free I wouldn't personally bite in to that cupcake again. find another supplier who knows what they are doing. or has everyone's taste buds gone down the drain. After going in to make a forward compliant the manager accuses me of only posting a review due to trying to sabertarg there business and not to come back. What an awful file person she is. Same goes with what they call a vegan cupcakes. She can't take constructive feedback. Disgusted with the manager and waterstones which I will take this further.

Popped in on my break from work. For a read of a book and a coffee. My Flat white and Tea cake were delicious. The staff were very friendly and chatty. My barista made a great Flat white with beautiful latte art. I must confess that I hadn't heard that Costa had been taken out and Cafe W put its place. It also was not very busy whilst I was there however this was between the hours of three and four so could have very well been the calm after the storm. But I will be shouting from the roof tops of the experience I had. Will definitely be back. Keep up the good work.

Situated upstairs in Waterstones Bookshop and opened in mid 2016, this cafe offers a welcome addition to the choices in Commercial Road. Whilst the Store has opened cafes in other Cities, it does not have the "chain" feel of larger coffee shops found on the High Street and is all the better for it. Roomy, with an eclectic mix of tables and chairs interspersed with sale displays. The locally made cakes are excellent, and whilst I have yet to try the sandwich and savoury choices, they look very tempting. Friendly and efficient staff add to the experience and with very good coffee, I will continue to visit.

Second oldest pub in Portsmouth and it is the highlight of the place. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The room is small with wonky electricity and plumbing, but I guess one must expect that in a 300 year old building. The wifi works well. Staff are businesslike. I wouldnt stay here again, but I'm glad I had the experience.

Never been met by people in a small business so annoyed to receive custom, tutted and huffed as I entered the shop, yes it was 14:45 and the shop closed at 15:00 but that’s no excuse. I ordered 2 rolls, once the filling was in the roll I stated which salad I would like in each and was told there was no salad left?? No discount offered and to make matters worse when opening the rolls outside the shop the fillings were incorrect. Another customer entered the shop behind me the staff members both rolled their eyes and gave him a dirty look, if you don’t want to be selling products until you close maybe worth advising a cut off time for rolls and food to be made. The filling in the rolls was a good portion and tasted good but wasn’t what I ordered. I won’t be returning
