Woodmans Arms in Isle of Wight

Good restaurant with a smallish but varied menu (most meals £15-20), just a 10 minute drive from the ferry port. Food for 5 took about 10-15 minutes and was very tasty. Only complaint was that they make you sit in the bar area if you have a dog. It wasn't too bad but definitely less comfortable than the main seating area.

We popped here for lunch today on the off chance they could fit us in as we had spent the morning at the nearby Monkey and Owl Sanctuary. Thankful they could as it turned out to be a brilliant lunch. Warm welcome, specials were pointed out to us straight away. Table service with no waiting. Drinks ordered and arrived quickly. Food was hot, tasted delicious and portion sizes were spot on. A small special request due to two slightly fussy children was accommodated without an issue. Just a Lovely atmosphere, great service and great food. Felt like we stumbled across a hidden gem here. Highly recommend and thank you to the staff for a lovely lunch.

I visited the Woodmans Arms last evening for their steak night and was very impressed with the establishment. The service was exceptional, and the food was of the highest quality. My family and I will definitely return to dine there again and will recommend it to anyone seeking a pleasant dining experience.

Been refurbished and has a new team. They are excellent, very helpful, good food, good value. Definitely worth a try if local or on holiday.

Lovely local pub, good selection of beers and food is delicious. The garden is also lovely with plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Really lovely pub. Excellent food. The cottage pie was delicious and we went back a couple of days later to have it again. Super friendly staff. Dog friendly and a little park for under 10's. Although we did notice there was a lot of flies in the park. I don't know if they are attracted to the sand?...... I liked that they do smaller deli lunch versions of some of the meals. A couple of nice vegan options including a cottage pie. Would highly recommend.

We’re here for the week, came to the Woodmans for dinner on Saturday night and ended up coming back again on Tuesday. Some of the best pub food we have had, the Cajun chicken burger is to die for, as is the steak and frites and the pork belly starter. Just absolutely delicious, fresh, generous portions and great service. Highly recommended.

Stopped here today, for the first time. We all had the cottage pie, it came with vegetables and gravy. Apart from my Mums cottage pie this was the best I've ever had whilst being out. Service was great, all staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone, you won't be disappointed.

Food pretty good but staff refused to serve us starters followed by mains in the garden. They would only bring it all together. Who wants a cold main course? Staff then went backwards and forwards anyway with ketchup etc! Silly policy because we didn't bother with a starter.

Visited whilst on holiday here and the whole experience was just fab! The staff were super friendly, the food was delicious, the whole place just had great feel. We will definitely visit again if we come back. Thank you!

Would have been 5/5 but the menu said chicken and smoked bacon with baby gem, when it came the baby gem had been replaced with Rocket which my wife hates and spent most of her time picking it out of the meal, my meal (chicken and leek pie )on the other hand was absolutely beautiful

We stopped here for lunch after seeing there is an outside play area. Food was nice and there was plenty of outside seating.

Lovely country pub. Great beer garden with a wonderful play area for under 10s.

My girlfriend and I had a couple of drinks and food. The atmosphere was ambient, service great and food was excellent. A special thanks to the staff especially Liam the barman, nothing seemed too much trouble for him. We will be back.

An excellent meal Scampi, brilliant and friendly service. Myself and friends camped overnight in the carpark, could not have wished for a better evening. Will definitely be back 🍻👍

Pie was nice but a bit dry .ham egg and chips was nice but the ham was more like thin gammon

Food was good and delivered quickly, personally I think it's expensive (£12 for a delivery size lasagne and £3 for a cuppa) but pub is nice and clean and staff were welcoming.

We went to the Woodman's for early dinner after attending the IOW festival and was in need of sustenance! , chose two dishes off the specials board , I had pork loin which was presented beautifully and husband had home made pie plus extra veg between us, it was really lovely, delicious in fact. Sat outside, lovely clean area great staff. We are local and will be back . Thank you

A lovely lunch experience here at Woodmans Arms today. It feels fresh, clean and relaxed. The pesto, mozzarella and tomato ciabatta panini was really tasty and the fries were perfect. Everyone was friendly and the service was excellent. I would highly recommend the Woodmans Arms. :-)

We asked if we could park the motorhome for the night but were told the field was a little too wet , after a return phone call we were told that we could park on the gravel in the car park, so pleased we could as we had dinner in the pub and it didn’t disappoint, lovely surroundings and very friendly staff and great food, a great place to either just eat or stay and eat.

Last minute booking and didn't disappoint! They catered to our large party of people and were so helpful throughout. The food came out absolutely picture perfect and was do tasty, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals! 😋 Staff and fellow pub diners were friendly. Food was presented beautifully and was fresh and tasty. Large portions! Would definitely come again.

I have always loved this cosy, family run pub..The food is always top notch, the staff always friendly and the pub itself is absolutely beautiful. In the summer, sitting in the beer garden and listening to the birds singing, eating great food with good company is my happy place. Plus Monkey Haven is just down the road 😍😍😍😍 i highly recommend The Woodmans ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

14 of us came to eat..within 20/25 minutes we were all served our different meals, all piping hot and absolutely amazing. Great service, little play park out back for the little ones..Will deffo eat here again

6 of us went for a meal last night &…WOW!! 5 cleared plates, unfortunately I couldn’t eat all mine but that’s my own fault! 🤣 Food was delicious, pub grub it definitely wasn’t, we all chose different things off the menu & all came out at same time & piping hot & as for the dessert menu 😱 I can recommend the Baileys Tiramisu & the crumble, not skimpy portions either! The staff were amazing, welcomed us to WA & we’re very smiley & attentive throughout or stay. Unfortunately only 4 of us live on IOW but we will definitely be back as a six when we next get together but in the meantime the remaining 4 of us are so lucky to have this on our doorstep & will look forward to next time! Love the refurb too, it looks beautiful, good luck for the coming season, u deserve to do well 😍

We had a lovely lunch here on Saturday. We didn’t book, but that wasn’t a problem. Menu was varied, with a specials board. Reasonably priced, and the food was freshly prepared and we didn’t wait long. We had 2 small children with us, and the garden was perfect for them! We could have stayed longer. Children’s Sundaes were a real hit!

Came here on Boxing Day and despite being packed - the food was amazing and piping hot! Would come here again

Finally managed to stop in for some food which I’ve been wanting to do since before C-19. I decided to go for the home cooked beef madras which happened to be on the specials board and I can honestly say it was simply DELICIOUS! Harry & Ronnie (Brothers) have done a fantastic job in making this pub/restaurant a really nice, warm and welcoming place to stop in for a beer or two or dine with the family. Well done Boys & keep smashing it!

Woodmans never fails on food and service. Always visit when staying on the island. Very good varied menu. Theres always a good selection of vegetables and Sunday lunch is excellent. 10/10 for food and friendly courteous staff.

Lovely sitting in the garden with a nice cold pint. We didn't have time to grab a bite to eat as we didn't want to miss the last steam train back to Haven Street.

What a lovely place. I'm touring alone with my dog, and we were spending the day on the steam railway, so we decided to jump off the train for a spot of lunch at Wooton. We both received a very warm welcome inside the building and outside in the very well-kept garden. When the meal arrived, it was presented beautifully, and the bit that went above and beyond was they... without asking... brought a fresh bowl of water for the dog and a couple of treat biscuits, on a plate so I could decide when he got them. A small act of kindness that goes a long way. Thank you (wanted to post picture but Google maps is playing up)

Went on the steam train that stops at Wooton. Saw signs for two pubs. Picked here which turned out to be lovely. Got seated straight away and given menus.cottage pie and a tuna melt was consumed. Very nice. Bar was a bit dark and unwelcome they seemed to concentrate on the restaurant conservatory. But was reasonable price and very nice.

Myself and my family visited the island recently and found this lovely place! The food was fantastic, great portion sizes, proper homemade food with great veggie options too. The service was amazing and it’s super dog-friendly. It’s so worth the money in there, would highly recommend, can’t wait to come back! :)

Beautiful place to have your dinner, wonderful staff very helpful we had bangers and mash and chicken topper both amazing and finished with gluten free syrup sponge and trifle both gorgeous. Meal was presented well staff are faultless definitely recommend highly. Shame we don't live here or we would visit more often

Booked this pub gor my Father's wake as close to crematorium and was told they cater for this ! How wrong they were, do not use this pub it's awful, the food was disgusting and the service was almost as bad . Terrible reception and did not make us feel welcome in anyway. Paid £13 per head for food that quite honestly I would not have give my dog. A really bad pub and one I will not be using again and will warn everyone I know not to go there. When compensation was asked for I was given a feeble excuse of running costs! Not my problem and should not effect quality. Be ⚠️

It was the quietest place IV been on the island. Tho top marks for a certain musician. First young one that just needs a little more practice with adding word to his music , but he has rythom , and use his cappo like a pro , I know cause I done the same in the past . Check him out . Eddie ✌️❤️✌️

We arrived late, without booking and the young woman who served us, went to find out if we could be squeezed in. Fortunately for us she found us a table. Where we were served to drinks very quickly and our food orders taken. Our food arrived in just 10 minutes or so. Piping hot, tasty and well displayed. The salad alone was worthy of a realy good review. The food, Smoked haddock bake, Chilli and Mac and a cheese, was really tasty. With a pint of Butcome bitter it was a realy enjoyable experience. Our party of 4 arrived at the woodman arms just before they stopped serving food, having just arrived on the Isle of Wight for our 2 week holiday. They found us a table even though we hadn't made a booking. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. The waiters/waitresses were wonderful and so patient I would definitely recommend coming here.

Had their Sunday roast - service was speedy and impeccable and the roast is GORGEOUS. Up there with the best on the island.

We had my daughter's 6th Birthday here and it was one of the best meals we have had for a very long time. Nothing was too much trouble and they made us feel very welcome. The garden is beautiful and the new children's play area is brilliant, my kids loved it even tho it was pouring down with rain! Thankyou Harry and the team, we will definitely be back 😁 Ps. Was my first ever visit but! Won't be my last. Good service very quick and friendly, the food was lovely & freshly made. Probably slightly higher prices for a pub but i was very happy with quality vs price of my meal and the place was fully booked so i think that says a lot. Also i would say there was a good variety on the menu.

Great food, lovely friendly staff who were very helpful and when my teenage nephew asked for no salad with his burger they offered him baked beans instead which he gratefully accepted. The chicken was beautifully cooked and plenty of it. There were four of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals

today28/07/23 enjoyed a great evening meal . the pub was getting busy with the two staff on duty still managing to provide good quality service the young lad that was taking an order with a person who had an alergy .He was doing a good job in answering the msany questions being thrown at him. I think it was 2 times he had to apologize saying he had to check with the kitchen for her . the lady went to give her order but had got confused and the young lad repeated the information helping the customer give her order . I had the Pie of the day and as usual it was evident it was home made and to the normal very enjoyable pie that Ihave had in the past .it was nice to see that the hygiene award was still rated at 5, As the pub is in my local area I look forward to enjoying many great home cooked meals , and soon to be provide with the local resident discount scheme to come soon My thanks to all .

Loved this place not just for the service and atmosphere (noted from previous reviews), but for having the most delicious Lambs liver, mash and veg on the menu. Absolutely gorgeous. Num, num, num
