Nos topamos aquí por completo accidente, ya que estábamos en una noche en el 1865. Qué restaurante increíble. La comida más hermosa, el servicio más amable, restaurante ultra limpio y aseo y así, tan barato. Si alguna vez regresamos a Southampton en 1865 regresaremos. ¡Excelente!

Went here on a Friday night was busy so was best to book. Staff really friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and very reasonable priced. Will definitely be going again when we're next in Southampton.

Fuimos a Bayleaf después de leer las críticas y no decepcionó. Fue una experiencia muy agradable con buena comida y un servicio ejemplar. Que el restaurante estuviera ocupado tanto con huéspedes internos como con entregas externas fue un buen indicador de su popularidad. Fuimos la noche anterior a un crucero, el restaurante está en el centro de la ciudad y a un paseo de la mayoría de los hoteles de la ciudad.

Very disappointed with the service,specially 1 of the staff was very rude , we already book a table in advance , And we was deciding to order a drink and they was keep pressuring us to order starters and main dish at same time because they was busy, And I have been ask from manager and staff more then 3 times order your food asap , When we recived our starters, and he started again to order the main dish , and I was disappointed, we told him give us some time to decide what to order and all that .. After 5 min he came with pint of beer free of charge … Really ?

Hi basically I’m from Hyderabad recently I visited this restaurant to have Hyderabad biryani ordered 4 portions and coming to the taste moreover it’s an biryani it tastes like tomato rice with semi cooked chicken and I don’t know about other dishes but please if you want to have Hyderabad biryani my suggestion is please avoid this restaurant.

Probably one of the best Indian restaurant in Southampton. If you haven’t been I highly recommend. A really great thank you for looking after us and giving us much needed Masala Chai after a long day in the sun.

We had a wonderful dinner here, a biryani Hyderabadi, Saag bhaji and a chicken tikka dhansak. Everything full of taste. Also very kind people and a nice and freshly decorated restaurant. We will certainly come back!

I didn't book. Just a table for one. I had starter and a main. Beer was lovely, food was VERY good, and their service was spotless. I could not get over how cheap it was. The place was gully booked, which tells me they are doing something right. I highly recommend this resturant. I will definitely be back, and I can't wait. Thank you :)

The restaurant has a policy against serving only starters, even if the total bill amounts to 25 pounds. When I questioned this policy, the staff was quite rude about it. This policy can be inconvenient for customers who might not enjoy the starters and prefer not to order a main course. Even five-star restaurants in India do not have such an unreasonable policy.

Amazing food! 2nd time we have been, hands down best Indian food we have had.

I ordered dal makhani and bhaingan bharta along with peshawari nan from this restaurant. I was extremely disappointed with the food. Bhaingan bharta and dal was so bad in taste and was not looking fresh at all. And peshawari nan was a joke in the name of nan. First of all it was not a nan, it was just a very thin roti which they were calling nan and also they have put some sweet in the nan which was really disappointing. I don’t know who told them that peshawari nan have sweets inside. A totally waste of money. I’ll never order again.

Loved all the dishes. Papadums, chutneys, Chicken Tikka Massala, Methil Ghost, Roti. Australian red wine. Brilliant!

I order papdi chat it’s wasn’t nice at all looks like gave old food( left over) not happy at all . Wouldn’t order again it used to be very nice and tasty and you get poppadoms and mango chutney too this time just horrible taste papdi chat , was very disappointed

Authentic SouthAsian food, good portion.Tend to become very busy over weekend so make it sure you reserve the table.

Just had a take away, the 2nd time special requirements ignored, poppadoms were stale and delivered 30 mins past latest estimated time. Just not the standard I expect from this restaurant as was my favourite for a sit down Indian meal

Absolutely awful service for the third time! Don't bother ordering from their app as you are never going to get your food on time. When you call to ask where it is they lie and say you will have it in 5 minutes... Our delivery tonight was 1 hour and 55 minutes.. this is not the first time they were late and would not admit their mistake. If you want to order then do it through deliveroo and not their own delivery option.

Writing this review on behalf of my mum as she came here with her friend under my recommendation. I had the best curry ever here a few years ago and when she came on Friday she said her Chicken Madras was a let down and just tasted of one overpowering spice. She also said the service was weird and they felt really rushed. The staff were leaning over them while they were eating to reach for empty glasses which is quite rude and as soon as their knives and forks hit the plate they came over to take the plates away which made them feel like they wanted them gone. Really disappointing when you recommend a place to someone and it's not good. They won't be going back and now neither will we sadly.

Been here several times for the dine in experience and got a takeaway yesterday, just as good quality as it usually is and left everyone satisfied. Delivery was quick too, would recommend

First time we have been to The Bayleaf for a takeaway meal. The food was reasonable however when we got home there was one dish - vegetable curry - missing from the order. No way were we going back so we just went without. apart from this the service was friendly, the food was freshly cooked and the price was reasonable for a city centre restaurant.

A place I have visited on probably too many occasions, but they always have great food at reasonable prices. I am a huge fan of a chicken madras however here it does seem a little bit hotter than most places so I do recommend maybe going down a tad on the heat scale. It always has a great atmosphere with the staff however it can be very noisy in there because the tables are also close together and people coming in large groups so if you're after something quiet, maybe this isn't for you

Very tasty food and good service. Owner was keen to put me off the duck tandor telling me it was very dry and pointed to another duck dish… why have it on the menu in the first place?! But other than that strange piece all great.

An upper scale Indian experience in the heart of High street Southampton. Who would have thought a thousands years ago that there would be an awesome Indian restaurant right beside the venerable Red Lion! Friendly and engaging owner and attentive service. If the poppadums are excellent as a starter then all else follows suit, the butter chicken's sauce has depth in its flavour, the starters from the monkfish, to the kur Kur crab, scallops, are very good. The Monkfish main alone is worth the visit, soft fish cubes served in a wonderful not too spicy sauce good to the last drop. Several Naan options and the plain one is already very good. Wash it down with mango Lassi which is also great. Can get busy so reservations are recommended.

Loads of variety the 3 dishes I had were lovely and the ones around the table looked and smelled as good. They where happy to cook without ghee for me so I could enjoy more of there dishes

Extremely popular restaurant, popadoms and dips were great! Food was excellent, vindaloo did not disappoint in the ‘heat’ department. Staff were more efficient than friendly but it was very busy.

As usual, Bay Leaf delivered with fantastic food, excellent service, and a wonderful atmosphere. Book a reservation, as there was a line to get in and people were being turned away. Loved the starter for two, and a couple of veggie sides. Left nice and full!

Good Indian restaurant in the heart of Southampton but not as great as some of their incredible competitors. I found the Duck Tikka tandoori mediocre, it had pieces of bone/grizzle and overall not very exciting. My main, the Calcutta Monkfish was much better. Large pieces of monkfish in a flavorful sauce. I also found the piratha nice. Overall a good meal but not memorable.

I tested malai kofta, which is good in test. But Service is very poor. Most of the staff is Indian I feel that they give good service to non Indians but specifically if they know that you are indian, they will not take care too much as other.

After being let down by our original new years eve meal venue we booked Bayleaf Kitchen. I'm so glad we were let down by the first place! From the minute we arrived we received great service, everyone was so friendly. The food was fantastic, with large portions and cooked very well. We'll definitely be back!

We were recommended here by a friend who said that as Coriander doesn't deliver that this is the place to go, absolutely beautiful fresh food very authentic and delivery was very quick, the gentleman who delivered it was so polite and the price was more than reasonable. We have found our "go to" Indian takeaway after many attempts! Sorry but Kutis was appalling. I cannot recommend highly enough! 🙂 I cannot quote on atmosphere as we ate at home but if the atmosphere is as good as the food then it's a 5

Have visited countless times, everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere is second to none. This is exactly how a business should be run and the owner should be extremely proud, will continue to visit. The best Indian restaurant on the south coast.

Most authentic Indian taste. I regularly visit here while in Southampton. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for delicious North Indian food.

Top class food, a bit pricey bit good portion and friendly service.

Great food. Service was a little slow as they were full but guess that's to be expected. We had booked but got seated a bit late due to how busy they were. Took around 50 mins to get our mains (we didn't have starters). But we weren't in a rush so just enjoyed chatting. The food itself was great. Nice portions and decent price. Came to £30 each with 2 beers per person and sides. (£26 without a tip). Would visit again, perhaps when a little less busy 🙂.

Excellent meal at the Bayleaf. Visited in November with family, first time we have been. Wasn’t quite sure upon entering but led to the back of the restaurant and pleasantly surprised. Lovely food, great service and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Went here on the 20/9 after a very wet day at the Southampton Boat Show which was just down the road. Still raining very hard when I went in to the extent that some rain was dripping through the roof of the restaurant. I had a king prawn biryani with a side vegetable curry some popodums and a pint of Cobra. £22.15 the lot so not too bad. Quite a tasty meal although I didnt think the king prawns were that big. Place is clean and tidy with good toilets in the basement. But you have to go down quite steep stairs with treads that are a bit narrow so watch yourself. I can recommend this place and its in a central position in the main High Street.

Food is ok. But delivery service is awful. Extremely poor delivery and customer service. No commitments on delivery time when you order online and they keep you waiting for more than 2 hours

Vegetarian curry was with frozen vegetables,such a shame they didn’t use fresh vegetables,but the rest was very good

After checking the reviews, went there with the family to celebrate a birthday. Ambience is nice, even though there were nicer/quieter tables in the inside we were seated at the front in between 2 other groups (we were 4 so got seated at a table for 4). Being Indians ourselves were expecting the food to be more authentic but it wasn't as it has been customised to the British palate :-) . To be fair some of the items such as the Papdi chat, Dal Makhni did taste quite good but not the other items. Service was very prompt and quick inspire of being a busy evening. All in all it was good food and service but not great if you are expecting the Original Indian version.

Had a table for two here whilst stopping in Southampton pre cruise. What a find. For a city centre restaurant this place takes some beating. Quality of food was fantastic, very attentive service and a very reasonable price. Place was packed so obviously very popular. Luckily we had booked in advance. Would definitely return when in the area.

Level of service is not what it used to be. This used to be a favourite go-to of ours, but it has gone down gradually over the past couple of years.

Top notch service , nice food, and good prices. It seems that the owners want to make sure you're having a nice time being there and go above and beyond. I would definitely recommend going there

Food was okay. But if you really hungry and you want to go bay leaf eat something before you go to the restaurant. Manager and the guy served food was good. It was so funny even if we say excuse me thousand times, if we need anything, the lady staff can't hear us. They focus on particular table. And they won't listen if we want something we waited ages to get a cake that we bought and give it to them. Waiting time is tooo long.

Having previously ordered the food has always been good. On this occasion the lamb was the toughest I have had from a takeaway. I asked for no extra corriander on my dish and looked like they had added extra. The poppadoms were soft and stale. I won't be ordering again rather spend the extra and order from corriander Lounge which is always excellent.

Had an excellent meal this evening, visited with the family for my birthday meal. Had some beautiful curries and excellent food all round. The manager/server suggested some more authentic dishes based on what we ordered for us to try and guaranteed if they weren’t better than our previous choices he’d replace them at no cost. These suggested dishes were exceptionally delicious! Outstanding service and great food! Thanks again
