This was the second time we come here on mother's day and the same day was our wedding anniversary the atmosphere is great and lively the waiting staff are lovely to my daughter wanted to order the beer onion bhaji but as they are made with alcohol beer I asked the manager if they could make the bhaji without the beer as he told us there was no way and he did not even attempt to go ask the kitchen he just told us know as beer we do not drink alcohol so we left that item then I asked for 2 fresh whole chilli's and was charged £2.50 for 3 chilli's and a load of sliced onions in the orange colour flavour that was horrible other than that the girl that was waiting our table was great

Quite underwhelming. Tables were sticky and dirty, took ages to take food order. We had to call someone over to take our order. Once food arrived no one asked how it was. Salad was very very cheap. No toilet roll in toilets and none of the hand dryrers work. Felt more like a student dive than a restaurant.

Great food as usual, our on regret was forgetting to add prawns to the mixed sharing plate… just have to go back next week. Need to mention the roti bread a great way to eat any dish

They serve authentic Indian dishes (only veg) with authentic flavours and tasty food. Love the ambience, ample seating arrangements with bar drink options, suitable for fine family dining

Ordered tandoor mix grill patter for two, including salmon on extra cost with a few sides, food arrived quickly but Salmon was like cardboard hard and dry, lamb chops had lots of fat hanging seems like you have to clean before you eat, seekh kebabs were made from cheap frozen Iceland dry mince which was shattered before even cutting into it, for a Monday evening there was loud quiz going on in the restaurant which was annoying too, in all it was a very bad food so won't be going back again.

I regularly visit the Tap and Tandoor in Solihull where the food and service is great and I am pleased to say that Tap and Tandoor Southampton is exactly the same. This is great news as I am a Saints supporter and we will now be visiting the restaurant after home games.

This place was so dirty, the staff are just standing around ordered drinks and no one gave them until I had to wave for attention after 20 min of ordering food was bland no manners even though I spoke to them polity my kids didn't even have dessert, not coming back here

This place is the whole package, the food is so amazing and the portions are really large so you can even share portions very easily! Very attentive staff that couldn’t do enough for you and a lovely atmosphere. We had starters to share: the onion bhaaji and chicken tikka naan which were lovely and then shared a butter chicken. We’ve been a few times and always just as lovely each time.

The food was amazing, the service first class and the atmosphere was spot. Great place for drinking and have quality and different Indian food. Highly recommend

Lovely evening, great service, we had a lovely waitress call jasmine, she welcomed us, took drinks order and was very polite throughout. Explained the items we asked about and recommend options. Food itself was tasty and would recommend the chill prawns as everyone in our party that had them said they we great.. 8 of us in our party and everyone enjoyed their meals so welldone guys.! Bearing in mind this was a busy Saturday night and still everything was OK!

Had a great experience at tap and tandoor, went for my boyfriends 21st birthday. Food was amazing and a nice atmosphere. Jordan was lovely and went the extra mile for us with taking my boyfriend beer off the bill and giving us a free pudding to celebrate. Will definitely be back, thank you again Jordan!

It was our second visit and we thoroughly enjoyed both occasions. The young manager couldn't have been more helpful. He is a credit and an asset to your business.

Food was very nice, especially the samosa chaat , chilli paneer and the naans. The service wasn't that great, the waiter we had was disinterested and didn't make any effort at all.

Found a review on internet and decided to try. The restaurant is well situated in city centre. The food, was great, service brilliant and surprise, surprise, they have a good selection of beers and ales!

Food was perfect. Went in as a group of 6 and initially sat in a booth, asked to be moved to a table so that we had a bit more room and the staff happily agreed. We had 2 large mixed grills with the king prawn extra with around about 5 naans and 3 masala chips, initial plan was to have mixed grills and then get some curry’s however the food we ordered filled us all up, safe to say the portions were spot on.

Found this place almost by accident and we’re extremely glad we did. The food was absolutely fantastic and was really good value for money. Worth a visit if you are in the area and looking for some excellent beers and curry.

Had a meal with my son this lunch time and enjoyed a great meal at a good price. Service from Niki was spot on and the Butter chicken was amazing.

Everything about this place was excellent. So good to have a superb Indian restaurant in Gunwharf! Nikki was an excellent host and made the whole experience all the more enjoyable.

We eagerly awaited the opening of Tap & Tandoor at Gunwharf Quays Portsmouth and were certainly not disapointed. The staff and service were amazing. The food was at the next level for Indian cuisine, heat intensity was just right and the portion sizes were perfectly balanced. The Manager Sanjeev was exceptional and attentive and despite being busy took the time to engage with us as did Shally. All the waiting staff were so friendly and engaging, we even met the chef who gave us the most amazing dining experience. Definately looking forward to many more regular visits.

Great food, good service, a little bit quiet when we went but it was a midweek lunchtime in January.

What all I need was Tasty Food, we ordered Daal Makhani with Tandoori roti and Garlic Naan . I tried so many restaurants in whole Uk from Glasgow to London and I never had that much delicious Daal Makhani . I will go again to taste other vegetarian dishes. Prices are so reasonable, just book yourself before visit this place .

Solid brewery bar/curry house. Asked for the Dal hot and it was perfect spice and tasted great. Will 100% return.

The opening times advertised do not represent the actual business hours. We arrived as a group of 6 at 9.30pm and was told the kitchen was closing in 10 minutes. The food was nice, however the service was really poor. We were offered additional drinks at 10.45pm. However, the lights were gradually turned off at 11.00pm. Other bars and restaurants welcomed us in. However, the service of the business and staff provoked us to end the evening. Would not recommend.

Really lovely lunch. I had a craft beer (can’t remember what it was called) and A delicious chilli chicken. Bar area had a nice vibe and my server was efficient and friendly. Highly recommend.

Food was absolutely amazing. Home style Indian food cooked really, really well. Portion sizes unreal! . Mogi chips are my new favorite thing and the keema curry tasted like home! ..Guest IPAs, Guinness on tap and live sports . What's not to like? Had a brilliant time and will definitely be returning. Toilets were clean and incorporated the whole street food vibe , with beer barrels cut into informal urinals . If you're looking for somewhere to watch some sport, have a beer and some good food.. get to tap and tandoor.

First visit but certainly won't be the last. Best Indian food I've had in a long time and the garlic naan was delicious 😋, the staff were very friendly and professional, would definitely recommend to friends.

Booked a table for my wife’s birthday food hot and delicious so paid with a 10% gratuity. Got home to find that they had automaticlly charged my credit card £5pp for not turning up. I won’t be using their website to book again!

Been wanting to try this place for a while, unfortunately it was disappointing. Chicken curry had to much cardamom, beer battered onions bahji’s had far too much flour and therefore tasted very dry. Salmon tikka was okay and cider was nice. Also portions were kind of small. Wouldn’t come back or recommend to anyone. Will stick to a more authentic Indian restaurant in future.

Staff were polite and helpful. The menu has a wide choice of dishes. I chose the butter chicken, the dish was well presented and hot. The butter chicken was not overly spicy, but it was pleasant. Portions not huge, especially the rice.

What a fantastic Indian restaurant. It's not your run of the mill indian. The dishes are largely not what you tend to find in a typical Indian in the UK. Food is absolutely first class. Service is fantastic. Prices are very keen. Portions are good. Hey also sell local craft beer, brewed in the New Forest. Definitely worth stopping by for a meal but make sure you book.

Was not upto expectations. Main curry dishes were the size of side dishes. Rice portion are kiddie sizes. The tandoori naan slides were good.

First Disappointing Experience This was our 3rd visit to Tap & Tandoor and unfortunately on this last visit we felt completely let down by the experience. The previous two experiences were perfect and we've been raving about this place since our first visit. This time round however, we were bitterly disappointed. Firstly, upon arrival we were seated on a small table which felt quite claustrophobic so we requested another table. There were 3 double tables within view but we were advised that they were booked for groups which we felt was fair. Ony for all 3 double tables to then be taken by 3 other couples who arrived within 15 mins of us. If this wasn't disappointing enough, all 3 couples then got served before us. I had to approach the waitress to request service. She was very apologetic and even though it "wasn't her area" she kindly took our order. We were hoping that was the end of the bad experience but unfortunately, the it got worse. We ordered two starters and two main dishes. Having taken our order, we specifically requested that our starters came out first (a reasonable request we thought). This did happen. After a 20 minute wait, our drinks had still not arrived which prompted me to ask the waitress. This was a different waitress and she apologized for the delay and said she would check what was happening with our drinks. After a further 10 minutes our drinks arrived. We then requested for our starters to be delayed seeing that it took so long for our drinks to arrive. The waitress again apologized and said she will speak to the kitchen. She promptly returned and said our food would be delayed. We thought "great, we can have our drinks before our food arrives". Then within 5 mins, not only did our starters arrive but so did our mains!! We accepted our starters and politely declined our mains. From this point onwards, the service improved. Unfortunately the disappointment continued with one of the main dishes. The veggie keema was disgusting! The texture and flavour was horrible and not something I would not recommend. The other main dish, the Chicken Curry was spot on and is high my favourite dish. All in all, it was a disappointing experience. I can only think it was because it was a Friday evening and they just couldn't handle the high volume of customers at their usual high level of service. I would still go here again because the food and service on the previous occasions was spot on. I would however strongly suggest you don't go on a Friday or Saturday if you want to avoid disappointment.

The food and quiz night was excellent, but the service was not what i would expect. Some staff were miserable and not friendly, they kept coming back every 2 minutes to take the order and when we just finished our food, the plates, they were gone.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Food not only tastes great but was in big enough portions not to leave you hungry. Very lively in the evenings with different sports being played on screens around the bar. Collection of craft ales was diverse covering most tastes too.

Quiz night was fun however we waited a very long time for drinks and food. 20 or so minutes for sauce and 2 plain fries. Our waitress wasn't really paying attention to many tables on our side of the restaurant unfortunately

Invited us in to eat at 9.10pm. Came to serve us at 9.17 and said food serving finished at 9.15. Terrible behaviour from a poor business.

Absolutely fantastic place to eat and just chill/watch football or sports if that's your thing. The staff were very friendly and welcoming nothing too much trouble for them. Will definitely be revisiting again.

At what should have been a bustling lunchtime last week, the atmosphere was unexpectedly dead. While the fish appetisers and naan bread were ok, the main dishes were notably lacking in flavour and freshness, almost as if they had been reheated from frozen. Additionally, the pricing appeared somewhat high given the value offered, at these prices we don’t think we will be returning.

Food was average quality for an average price.. small menu, small plates are larger than a starter size and much better than the main courses. Would have preferred to pay more and get better quality meat.

Had our first visit and it was impressive. The Bluemoon Belgian beer and White Wine paired perfectly with the Paneer Tikka, which was exceptionally soft and flavorful. The Dal Makhani stood out, easily one of the best in Southampton. Definitely returning.

Nice place to meet with friends. Staff were welcoming, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Food was nice, tasty, well presented and arrived quickly. Good value for money.

Husband and I tried for our date night. It was ok. Menu didn’t have a huge selection and the food was budget. Alright for a night out if you just want ‘curry and a beer’ but if you want authentic Indian food there’s better places to dine. Waitress friendly, place lacked atmosphere. More like a sports bar with the football on.

One of the best Indian restaurants in Southampton. The food is great and so is the ambience. Especially liked the service. Tanu, our server for the night was so sweet and lovely. Overall, the place is awesome, highly recommended.
