Tap & Tandoor in Southampton

5th visit to Tap & Tandoor. Food is always amazing and good beers. We’ll be back again real soon.

Excellent tandoor dishes, the Hariyali chicken and Seekh kebab have become firm favourites. Great range of craft beers and ciders too.

It was pretty banging. There were a couple of Karen’s behind us that were annoying af but the staff were really good for us

Tap & Tandoor’s samosa chaat is fantastic! Crisp samosas with flavorful potato filling, topped with tangy chutneys, yogurt, and crunchy sev. The flavors are perfectly balanced — spicy, tangy, and sweet. A must-try for chaat lovers!

This was the first time at Tap & Tandoor, and we weren’t disappointed. It was quiet but a good atmosphere and very clean. Great choice of drinks and the food was amazing. Hassan and Diksha were amazing hosts too - friendly and attentive but not intrusive.

Popped in at midday for a light lunch. We shared the mixed grill and bhajis. All the food was excellent and perfect for sharing, washed down with a nice Unity pale ale. Service was good and rapid!

Would recommend tap&tandoor to anyone ! All the staff were so attentive and friendly, and made sure we had a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing! Would definitely recommend paying the £4 on top of the mixed grill for the prawns - they were the best thing on the plate! Will definitely be visiting with friends and family again.

Popped in without a reservation with limited time before a show we were attending. We were immediately given a table and were so well looked after it was incredible. No rushing and the food was delicious. Huge thanks to Diksha, Olivia and the kitchen team who made an impromptu visit by us a perfect reason to return again.

Beautiful food and lovely staff

Had the pleasure of discovering the tap and Tandoor on a Sunday afternoon. It's has a unique layout of a social bar area with TV's if you just want a drink, and a more conventional restaurant area to the rear. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, offering us a table where ever we wanted. We chose the bar area where there is a great selection of local micro brewery beers supporting local businesses. A vast range of spirits and all the usual bottled beers and wines. We chose to eat whilst there, and were able to stay in the bar area where we were sat. The food was amazing with the usual Indian offerings, but also accompanied by some very tasty different Indian dishes and combinations. The staff were all very friend, chatty, helpful and attentive without being a nuisance. A big thanks to Olivia and Diksha for making our day very memorable and special, we will certainly be back and will definitely recommend tap and Tandoor to others. See you all again soon.

Went here with my dad for his birthday. Smashing little place, food was stunning and beautifully spiced, nice selection of ales. And considering we ordered enough food to feed 6 people it was very reasonably priced too.

It’s basically a sports bar that provides a great choice of guest ales and Indian food. Foods great, beers great and the staff are great too.

The food here was amazing! I had the daal makhani, okra fries and special naan. I'm shocked to say this, but as much as I love okra, the daal makhani stole the show! Thanks for the great meal and being so patient with your jet lagged customer!!

it has no reason to be one of the best indian food i’ve ever had but it is somehow. the prices are cheap and the drinks are awesome. i love the atmosphere as they play sports. it’s just such a good place

Last I had visited tap and tandoor was seven months ago for a birthday family celebration. Great experience, so I recently had visited again. Where I’ve encountered a bad experience here, I was approached by a skinny and short male who addressed himself as boss man. Mentioned that he was the owner and smelt of alcohol. He was a disrespectful individual. He stated if I didn’t like the food , to not come back. I believe that’s outrageous behaviour towards a customer. Very displeased, will not be back.

Great find, we popped in for early lunch on Saturday afternoon. We sat outside and was looked after by the very polite staff and ordered drinks and food. The food was out of this world and was piping hot and all had wonderful flavours. All three of us commented on how much we enjoyed the experience. Thanks to Gaby for looking after us so well.

So we came in for lunch. Naan(SEEKH) sliders and crispy fish are to die for. Each mouthful were delightful and light. My wife had paneer mahkani and masala fries. Great. Served with chilli sauce and mint yoghurt which accompanied the whole meal perfectly. Many thanks. See you soon.

Jessica sorted our order out quickly which was great, restaurant had a great vibe with quiet background music, will definitely be returning! They also catered for my gluten free allergies without an issue. Sorry no pictures of the food as enjoyed it too much.

Went to Tap and Tandoor for a boys night as the food choice looked good and we were not disappointed. We shared some onion brains between us as you get two and they’re large and perfect for sharing. I had butter chicken curry and pilau rice for my main which was delicious. There was a good selection of real beets (hence the tap) but sadly no Indian lager which is disappointing for an Indian restaurant. The experience was let down by the service though. Two of our group asked for rhubarb cider and after checking we’re told this wasn’t available. However instead of offering something else or asking what else they wanted the server wandered off. We didn’t know what was happening and they had to be called over so we could place the alternative drinks order. We were missing a rice and this was quickly brought out. However checking the bill at the end we had been charged for it and had to ask for it to be taken off. At the end of the meal we were asked if we wanted anything else and said no. However 15 minutes later one of us decided they would like a coffee. The waitress looked very non plussed when asked and you could see she didn’t want to make it. She went to the bar and came back and just said no. No explanation. We got the impression that as it was a quiet night they just wanted everyone gone and even though it was only 10pm we no longer felt welcome as we were the last ones there. A tip was given out of courtesy rather than for the service. So a mixed reaction. Hopefully the staff will take the comments onboard as the food really is delicious but isn’t the thing we remember when looking back on the evening.

Great atmosphere, slightly rustic with a touch of modern and very comfortable environment. Food is amazing and service is fantastic. Only slight complaint is that they tried to offer us another round of drinks once we were finished eating and ready to leave, but I understand that it's business. Overall a great experience and I expect that I'll be coming back.

I was with a friend for dinner . We came across the restaurant purely by chance and what an amazing find. Instantly we were asked about any allergies which showed a professional establishment. The food was insanely good. Fresh, and tasty and the sharing dishes were amazing with a variety of everything. The service was fantastic and the the staff were happy and polite and could not do enough for you. The atmosphere was friendly with the amazing aroma of all the spices from the food. The price was also very reasonable for the amount of food we had. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who like this cuisine. Thank you and I will see you again soon.

Wow..DELICIOUS. Just one night before a cruie ship in Southampton, found us craving "Indian" food. This restauranr exceeded all expectations. Fresh, balanced flavors, carefully prepared, clearly, by people who care. Samosa, Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry. Each was excellent. We hope to return and even more we wish we had this restaurant in New York!!
