Decided to ignore the bad reviews & see for ourselves. Staff were pleasant & polite, children were welcomed. Restaurant was empty on Saturday evening & we had the place to ourselves. Music was a nice touch buy unfortunately it was cold in temperature so we needed jackets on. Waited about 20 mins for food but it was freshly cooked so don't mind that, would much rather it was fresh. 2 pizzas & 4 burgers all very well presented. Burgers were lovely & very filling. My son didn't like the pizza due to strong cheese which was unfortunate as it looked lovely also. Prices were very reasonable for the portions. Would visit again but wear warmer clothes 😁

We had been warned it got very busy so had booked a table. When we arrived it was already packed so had high expectations! Sadly we were very disappointed. The service was poor and the food was not good. My wife chose fish and chips ‘because you can’t mess that up’ but struggled to eat it as it was swimming in grease. The mash with my Cumberland sausage tasted like Smash made on a camp stove by my mother on camping holidays in my youth! Not a good recommendation 😂. There’s very little choice of establishments locally so they have a captive audience so I guess little motivation to drive improvement

Used to love Ali taj, was the first curry I had ever tasted 40 years ago when he was over the road above the citizens advice, it was the best, unfortunately isn't a patch on what it used to be and getting very expensive, before Xmas our go to take away was £24, last night it was £27.85 and absolutely below standard. Not telling anyone to avoid but we won't go back which is such a shame, sad in this day and age that profit comes before quality which was never the case when Ali was in charge.

My partner has just got us a takeaway , there’s hardly any food in the container? All I wanted was egg fried rice , it was cold and dry and half empty

Outstanding food with brilliant service, with a friendly spacious dining area. The food quality is impeccable in my opinion, unless you are looking for your food cooked by a famous chef, with a dreary southern accent, costing above £100 and cooked facing east, sprinkled with pixie dust. This was sadly just awesome and omitted pixie dust. By a chef that can just cook to perfection.

This was the biggest disappointment we have ever had eating out and we've being eating out for lots of years. Afternoon tea was £30 pp but I am afraid the view was all that we could recommend We were seated at a table less than 30cm from the joining table that was also laid for afternoon tea. When the food arrived we were allocated three small finger sandwiches each...one grated cheese one cream cheese and one with a minute amount of processed ham....the slimey kind. No crisps, no garnish... The middle layer on offer was four scones between two of us.....I am not sure who eats two scones in one sitting but good on you if you can. The top tier was several very small pieces of what I would call tray bakes...easy to prepare and even easier to serve with little or no skill. The final big let down was when we were joined in the lounge by an couple wearing very short dressing gowns and apparently not much else. I am surprised they chose to enter a formal lounge in such attire and even more surprised they were encouraged to We did speak to the young man serving us at the time but I am afraid he was not able to offer any resolution. I have subsequently emailed the hotel and not received a response

Friendly staff with a warm welcome. We came here several times during our stay at Windermere Lake. Bar staff were great - we enjoyed the weekly quiz night on a Thursday (family friendly and dog friendly) and then had Afternoon Tea on our last day of holiday - highly recommended! The roaring river outside provides an amazing setting and we heard the steam train toot-toot past too. A great place which deserves to be rated much higher.
