My partner has just got us a takeaway , there’s hardly any food in the container? All I wanted was egg fried rice , it was cold and dry and half empty

Very disappointed with the dishes. I’ve no idea how a ginger and spring onion dish can not taste of any ginger. It was gloopy and the chicken was awful. The filling in the spring rolls was extremely little. It was mostly pastry. We had been told it was a very good place to go but we won’t be back. Please put flavour into your dishes, it’s not fair on the locals to serve substandard food.

Had a lovely takeaway here while on holiday in the area. Modest looking place from outside but the food was delicious and the service friendly. Recommended.

I always love the food at the Canton! We go almost weekly, service is friendly and great for a sit in meal too

Not what I was expecting. Drab interior with paper table cloths. Mains cost around £8.50 when combined with a good rice also at £8.50 I’d expect a little bit better on the decor details. The food was ok, no wow factor. When looking at the TP reviews my expectations where high, the reality was low. And on that, I’m resigned not to try the others if this is considered to be so good.

Service friendly. Food awful. Bland and tasteless reconstituted gloop! Cornflour, starch, gristle, fat, sugar! Not much else. Avoid at all costs!!

This restaurant serves the worse Chinese food I have ever had. if you are unfortunate enough to be staying in Cleator and fancy a Chinese, think again. Everything was so greasy and disgusting it was barely edible. The locals seem to like it but I guess they have never eaten anywhere decent. There is a yellowing news clipping by the bar suggesting their glory days are well behind them. The decor is a revolting pink colour and the service is terrible. If it was possible to give a lower score I would.

I have been coming here for years and never had one bad word to say. However the last two times I have been I have been sent away with warm food. The rice was rubbery on mine and my partners dish and the curry sauce it's self,well let's just say if I wanted tuff prawns I would have went to Iceland. Please stop making your food and the reheating it. It's horrible and not even hot.

We are staying in the area for the August Bank Holiday weekend & thought we would go here on Sat night. We had the two person Special Bonquet meal & it was excellent value. The food was plentful, delicious & just what we wanted. We would recommend eating here

We have always gone here, really great food and perfect for a sit in meal. Would recommend if in the area!

Started off with a pint of Carlsberg and carafe of white wine while we looked through the comprehensive menu. Lots of choice and some unusual items all reasonably priced. Opted for hot and sour soup, chicken and sweetcorn soup followed by the mixed starter platter, The ribs were delicious in a very tasty sauce, spring rolls looked home made and were delicious, as were the prawn toast. For mains we shared duck in plum sauce with chips. Portions were all great and served piping hot. Service throughout was friendly and quick, overall a great meal. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely meal on a one night stopover on the way to Rowrah Circuit. Great tasting food, great service and good location. Would highly recommend! We had a combo starter and a special curry... delicious

have eaten her quite regularly over the past 3 years Staff are always helpful and service is prompt.even when there were 30 of us. Have eaten at a few Chinese in the Area and this is the best by far. We always have the banquet set meal and staff are happy for us to swap a dish if we want something else for a change. Food is tasty, well cooked an there are always lots of it. Cant recommend this place enough.

I cannot praise this restaurant highly enough. First point, very clean throughout. Service was exceptional, choice exceptional. We booked for a family evening meal, as soon as we arrived we were shown to our table given menus and offered drinks. We all agreed on the banquet for three. After a short time, a huge plate of starters arrived, crispy veg rolls, wontons, mini spare ribs, prawn toasts, garnish and prawn crackers. We cleared the plate as we were hungry. After they cleared the empty dishes the table was filled with crispy duck and wraps with garnish (only 2 wraps each) so there was a lot of duck left but we managed to clear that....No problem! We were asked if we were ready for the next course. we agreed and the table was filled with special fried rice, a sizzling steak dish, a chicken dish and a pork dish. Our banquet cost £51 and it would have fed another 2 diners. I really don't know how it could have been better as reported. I suspect complainers are Canton Chef rivals or people looking for a price reduction. Before I finish, the wine list is extremely expensive for the choice given, the house red and white is available in Aldi at less than £5. All in all a great evening and will return. Do not be put off by a suspect bad review.

Had a delightful evening at this restaurant. We had mixed starters which were really tasty, then we all had different main courses. We all chose well. No complaints. Each dish was delicious.

Al grano. La comida es inconsistente. He pedido desde aquí 3 veces. Tenía sal y pimienta costillas dos veces. La primera vez fue genial. Enorme con un montón de costillas de carne. 2 tiempo nd con pequeños trozos de médula ósea. Espantosa. . En otras ocasiones las lonchas de pollo estaba en la media, como pollo frito arroz y pollo al curry. Pato en salsa de ciruela era agradable. Asado de cerdo con vegetales mixtos chop suey" al platillo fue horrible. La salsa era terrible. Langostino de vinaroz en la salsa picante que no era agradable. Seguros si volveré marmaris 4 estrellas es mucho mejor que cualquier distancia en cleator moor. Popeyes es terrible y chatanooga como es Mar Caspio.

went for an evening meal with work colleagues, our order was quickly taken and the starters were quickly served then we had hot dishes placed at our settings however by the time the main course arrived the dishes were frozen we had to wait 35 minutes. The food was very good but we had ordered a banquet and we found the portions very small (if you are ordering a banquet make the order for 1 person more than there is). price of the meal due to the size of the portions was expensive

El señora no entendía en absoluto y tuve que repetir varias veces cada vez llegó a la mesa (que no era a menudo). Y ordenados staters esperamos 25 minutos para ellos, la sopa estaba incomible y mis socios de alas de pollo estaban bien.

Food always very good, I would defiantly recommend it to anyone who are in the area. Been going here for almost 15 years, only been to the restaraunt a few times but get takeaways at least twice a month

Not fresh food frozen chips and crispy chicken was chicken nuggets. Sweet and sour sauce tasted like vinager. Had to wait for order even tho phoned to order in adavance waste of money will not be back.

Absolutely gorgeous meal, always hot and fresh. Best takeaway around here. I had the chicken in steak sauce and girlfriend had noodles and bean sprouts and a portion of chips. Chicken is very juicy and tasty, the noodles tasted really fresh and the chips were great. Definitely recommend

This local Chinese is very good with fresh ingredients and prompt service. The portions are a little smaller than they used to be but still good value for money.A delivery service would be nice.I recommend the deep fried grisly beef and the mixed starter.

With it being so popular food can be rushed and people who eat in the restaurant can wait a very long time for their meals. However, usually the food is gorgeous from here. The sauces for their chicken dishes are the best I've tasted from any Chinese. I'd recommend chicken Schezwang from here. Or crispy chicken in Capitol sauce.

The food is fresh and tasty.The shredded duck and crispy beef are both amazing.only downsides are lack of home delivery and portions could be bigger.

31C (shredded crispy chicken in schezuan sauce), boiled rice and salt and pepper chips. Staple. Absolutely amazing food. Tommy, the owner, is lovely. Good service, friendly staff, good value. Only downside to Canton Chef is that takeaway is collection only.

Canton Chef offers takeaway a well as a licensed restaurant and we knew it was a popular place straight away as the phone was ringing constantly for takeaway orders. Absolutely loads to choose from - chicken wings were delicious!Really good value too - loads of food on the plate.Not the busiest place, but we were looked after well. Service was good and quick. Probably best for a family or a larger group.

If you like Cantonese don't look any further , the owner Tommy a very welcoming man and the food out of this world , the hotnsour soup is the best I've ever had .

Went for a take-a-way here and I really enjoyed mine of king prawn and blackbean sauce (tasted very fresh!). The only faults were the chips (frozen), my husbands curry wasn't spicy, my daughters BBQ sauce was more like sweet and sour and there wasn't much for children to choose from eg sausages etc. I will use again, but I don't think my husband will!

We go here quite often, it's a little more expensive than other places but well worth the extra. Last time we arrived 15 minutes early and the restaurant wasn't opened, but the take away was. The owner saw us waiting and opened up early for us.All the staff are helpful and polite, the food I could not fault.I wouldn't hesitate to go, it was suburb.

they messed up the order and the food was greasy instead of wonton soup we got spaghetti ohs or whatever they subbed in . But it filled everyone up but me I declined. Maybe they just had a bad chef day

Decided to try canton chef spur of the moment, on arrival greeted by a friendly waitress, restaurant not very busy we were shown to our table asked if we wanted drinks and our order was served very quickly , ordered our food and again service was excellent and all staff very friendly, restaurant was very cosy and comfortable and the food was exceptional, excellent service excellent food, and affordable will definitely go back. 10/10
