Great food and service , the all you can eat banquet was brilliant. You get a choice of 6 starters bought to you , so you can try a few , and a choice of mains all kept hot .
Met here with friends who are relatively regular customers and see this as a treat. Greeted well at the door and sat quickly, but there was a wait for drinks when ordered, so much the starters had arrived. That was my one gripe. Food, delicious. Simple, flavoursome. I had the potato starter which could of been a side but I'm glad it wasn't, and the cod loin for mains which felt a little bit old fashioned (in a good way!). Strawberry dessert was fantastic also. A must go, and I will revisit.
We came across this little tearoom on a visit to Chester. It is in a beautiful ancient building with stone arches inside. The menu is vast! Big only sandwiches, cakes etc. but hot food, stir fried, steak and it also served alcohol. Everyone could find something to eat in this place. We opted for sandwiches and soup, followed by pudding and cake. All the food was tasty and was reasonable priced. The toilet is up on the 3rd floor, so not great for people with mobility problems. It’s a bit of a trek and very spooky! Not sure if this place is haunted, but I definitely sensed something in the top dining room. I would visit again for food, just wouldn’t visit the toilet next time. 😬

The Keats room offers a very nice and spacious bedroom and bathroom. While it appears a bit old, it is well-maintained, similar to most buildings in Chester. The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Chester. However, there is no lift, so it's best to avoid bringing too many bags. At this price, we couldn't ask for more.
A delightful and delicious few hours enjoying the marvelous afternoon tea with a dear friend for a belated Christmas treat. Champagne and strawberrys/clotted cream, a sandwich and cake collection that was perfection and more clotted cream, jam and scone collection. Not forgetting the vast tea menu to choose from. Soak up the atmosphere, dedicated staff, a marvelous experience all round. - a recommendation for all to sample. Oh yes , we will return without a doubt.
Highly recommended. Popular restaurant. Regular visitor, morning and/or afternoon. Enjoy a coffee and cake or a delicious meal. Watch Chester Riverboats and/or Grosvenor Boat Club members rowing.
We went for a takeaway and although it used to be very good, the quality had plummeted in the last year and the food was dreadful. Chicken S&S balls were over cooked (very dark brown in colour) and the Chicken with Cashew nuts was watery, tasteless and only had about 3 nuts in it. Starters were similar and the service was abrupt and unfriendly. We won’t be going back.
Positives: nice decor and friendly staff. Scottish breakfast tasted nice.
Negatives. No kids menu so ordered beans and cheese on toast and just beans on toast for a 9 and 3 year old. Arrived as one slice of toast and half a can of beans each with one slice of cheese on one. Both cost the same even though we asked for a kids portion. So for £17.90 we got 2 slices of bread, a tin of beans and one cheese slice. Bizarre price tag for what you got - you would expect a decent main meal in a restaurant for that.
However nice experience, just possible needs price review on some of the menu items and possible a kids version.
We had a lovely brunch! The atmosphere was relaxing. Although there was only one gentleman working who was cooking and serving he welcomed us in and said he would be with us in a moment. Despite being reasonably busy there was no issue of cleanliness and food came out reasonably fast. Food was delicious I had the Mexican brunch as attached and my girlfriend had the Hemendex. Could not fault this server his hospitality was impeccable even helped another gentleman with his stroller. Will definitely return.
First day of opening after lockdown, excellent food in a nice courtyard, nice to be eating out again, nice Lasagne and a Peroni to wash it down, wife had chicken burger and a glass of red! Nice friendly staff and well worth a visit!
This is an attractive venue in a lovely old building. Staff were welcoming and accommodating, allowing me to sit overlooking the park, despite it being some way for them to bring my order, and the cafe being almost empty.
A very full outline of all options was given when I asked about an item that looked tasty. Sure enough, the one I had my eye on was the most suitable, and indeed delicous, as was the coffee.
An excellent experience, which I would recommend...
I always have chicken chow mein from here. It is the best chow mein i’ve had from the area, not sitting in liquid, no soggy veg, always hot and plenty of it. reasonably priced too. My partner always has the yung chow and he can’t fault it. Wish they still did the sweet & sour though, because that was also super tasty!
