We was in Chester for the weekend and having a look round for a place to eat [which when you have not booked in middle of a pandemic is very hard to find ] ,We came across this place and the owner said we could eat outside in a little courtyard .We chose the anti pasto platter for 2 to start which was plentiful and had various meats ,breads, ect ect .We had chosen a bottle of red wine which when it came it had to be sent back has it was fizzy for some reason ,the owner swapped it without fuss and the new bottle was very palatable .The mains was for me the best tasting lasagne i have ever had and my wifes chicken pasta was also very tasty .We finished our mains when a waitress brought us our bill telling us we had to pay inside [which we found strange has we wanted desert and coffee ] The owner then appeared and asked if we would like desserts while doing so he spotted the bill we had been given to which off he went and i assume told the waitress who came out and apologised. We thought she was new has she had been nervous all night turnes out she been there 5 years .we ordered tiramisu and a red velvet cake and 2 coffees bwhich was all lovely the final bill was only £60 a bargain This place is a hidden gem

We we're looking for a place to eat that was Covid-aware and the manager got our attention and showed us the eating area outside in a little courtyard. We decided to stay as it was a warm evening, so glad we did. The food was top-notch, so tasty and the staff were very friendly. We shared a tapas style starter, had a pasta main each then a dessert with their house red. The prices were great for the high quality and delicious food we had. Really enjoyed the whole experience.

Decided to have quick Pizza lunch. Seated outside. Seemed nice inside.Small but acceptable menu. No problems in doing cheese free pizza. It tasted fine. Chips were disgusting and sent back. I was a bit narked when manager said they were fine and it was like he was doing me a favour by deducting from the bill. Wine and Beer fine. Must say very little in place regarding Covid measures, even though around all the restaurant loads of signs and a signed note on the door. Manager and waitress no face masks . No attempt to social distance. No personal details - name/ phone asked for. Did have hand sanitisers on bar, used when going to loo. I could not wait to leave. We will not return. Give a wide birth at present.

We came across this cafe by chance on our way back to the park and ride bus stop. We do like to support independent cafes/restaurants when possible. Having looked at the menu outside we decided it suited our needs for a late lunch snack. It was after 2pm and we were the only people in the restaurant. The menu is varied but we chose the chese and tomato panninis. They were made to order and it came with some fries and a bit of salad. Very tasty filled with lots of cheese and tomatoes. Our two pannini plus two coffees came to less than £19 - so very good value for money. The staff were lovely and friendly. We would certainly return again.

We had picked up a leaflet on Saturday advising of a lunch time deal - Sunday - Friday 12-5 - 2 courses and a glass of wine for £9.95, there was nothing on the leaflet to state any dates. Came to the restaurant on Sunday to be told that the deal was bot starting 'till the Monday, when asked why i was told because they didn't have the ingredients - now all the food on the 'deal' was off the main menu so i'm not sure how this was the case. The restaurant was packed and i feel that it was almost like we don't need to offer you a deal today as we've already made our quote of bookings/money. I cant comment on any facilities as we were so disappointed we just got up and walked out - we didn't make it clear to the owner that this is what had happened - before in any response that is quoted. If the deals are for set days you really cant put advertising leaflets out suggesting the contrary.

We wandered down Rufus Court seeing an Italian restaurant and noticed this little restaurant on the opposite side of the road. Wow what a find. The goats cheese & bacon starter followed by spinach & ricotta pasta, left us too full for a dessert. We loved it so much we went back the following evening had the goats cheese to share - more than enough - then the lasagne. We certainly weren't disappointed. We finished the evening sitting outside with our bottle of wine. The Caramel has only been opening in the evenings for less than a month so the menu is still quite limited but with pasta/pizza or chicken on the menu it caters for most tastes. If you want friendly, personal service & top quality food this little gem is the place, just sorry we don't live nearer.

We had a walk round the centre of chester and saw the appealing cafe down a side street. We like to pop into local cafes on our travels but left disappointed. Service was very disjointed and we felt over charged when our breakfast tea & toast was one slice of white cheap value toast for £1.25. We were even more disappointed when paying to see the chef serving breakfasts with a bag of bread buns with Tesco reduced stickers on. Its appalling that someone is charging top price for stale produce.

Popped here recently whilst visiting Chester Christmas market was disappointed with selection of food on north gate stalls and really didn't fancy a fast food place. My wife spotted the sign and as our baby needed feeding thought we'd take the opportunity to go somewhere different. Very welcoming staff and although the interior is a little dated it serves its purpose. Prices i found to be very reasonable too. Ordered margherita pizza and garlic bread to share. The pizzas are very different to the 'chain restaurant' style but i really enjoyed it. It made us laugh when the chef came out to apologise he had burnt our pizza whilst tending to other customers, and he was having to make it again. We were in no rush and it was worth the wait. Having shopping around Chester me and my partner went in as everywhere else was busy. We was greeted by a scruffy man, and a chef with stains all over his whites considering they was quiet I don't see how he got so messy and we could see that the kitchen was an absolute disgrace through the outside window. We ordered the lasagne and the spaghetti Bolognese. The lasagne was microwaved and soggy. Which came with a rotting lettuce side salad. The bologense was also clearly microwaved as some parts where piping hot and others Luke warm. On addressing this to the owner he got a little defensive saying everybody loves their food. well we didn't and judgingn by the amount of previous reviews here then he clearly is a little delusional. The coffee was weak and the interior was dated and falling apart. Can not tell you to avoid this place any more. Overpriced. And there is a wetherspoons down the road cheaper and better quality food. Which is saying something.

Having walked around Chester for ages, looking for somewhere serving reasonably-priced pizzas, we discovered Caramel in a small courtyard near the town hall. The outside seating area was pleasant and the owner welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed authentic Italian pizza served on wooden boards and pizza-style garlic bread, which reminded me of the food and affable service that I'd received whilst holidaying in the Bay of Naples. Cakes for dessert were good-sized portions. Whilst the restaurant is fairly basic, it has its own charm. My only criticism is that I'd like to be presented with a proper bill, rather than the owner's oral request for what is owed. Whilst not doubting his integrity, in twenty-five years of dining out I've never not been presented with a bill before and it's a basic enough requirement.

Enjoyed an amazing Caramel Special burger and my wife had a panini which was also very good. The Caramel special burger is constructed around a home-made burger, and has cheese, bacon and pineapple in a nice bun. It comes with what the menu describes as a small portion of fries - (actually, they're a similar size to a portion of large McDonalds fries), and a small salad. The burger patty is certainly one of the tastiest that I have enjoyed - anywhere! One review that I read said overpriced and low quality - they must have reviewed the wrong place! The prices are clearly displayed on the menu or the board outside, so you can decide whether or not you can afford to eat here. The quality of food and service that we enjoyed was so good I was more than happy to leave a generous tip, it was very well deserved! This is a little gem of a bistro and I look forward to returning when I next go to Chester.

Another of many Coffee meetings with one of my friends at this lovely little restaurant/cafe, tucked away in Rufus Court, Chester. It doesn't seem to matter about the weather you can always be sure of a very warm welcome from all the staff.

We stumbled upon Caramel whilst walking through Rufus Court. The owner welcomed us in and was very cheery and accommodating. Initially we hadn't realised that the owner was Italian and this was indeed an Italian themed restaurant. The food was fresh and the service was good. The only reason I didn't give this an excellent rating was simply because I paid £7.49 for a small plate of Greek salad, which seemed a bit expensive as the portion size wasn't huge for a main course. Apart from that, we fully enjoyed our lunch.

First time here after walking around the City. The staff were friendly and polite and the food was good (classic burger and a breakfast). Would recommend the burger, very tasty.

When looking at these reviews i can tell the consistent petulant whining from the owner saying 'small business, well hidden, great place' made people feel pity that moved them to lie to themselves and others that this place isn't anything short of being on Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. When you go in first thing that strikes you in the awful interior. The reason why no one goes there is because it looks straight out of your grandma's front room. You greeted by a dirty tee shirt man standing in front of cake fridge which is equally unappealing. As we sat down menu are given to us that look like my 5 year old had made them. Still thought the food may be why people rate this so highly. My boyfriend ordered two pizza's and we asked for 2 glasses of water. The owner huffed and made it apparent he wanted to buy drinks. even over heard him slagging us off to his staff members. When the food came out it was horrible. It was supposed to be thin and crispy instead it was hard and brunt. what cooking school was this chef from? is he even a train chef? anyway we asked for the bill and he started counting it up. i had the exact money out and bizarrely my counting was £2.00 short. interesting. when i re counted with the boss watching worrying, it turnt out i was right and he been trying to get that drink money out of me he self proclaimed he deserved. never again will i ever go near that place.

This is a great little cafe. The pizzas are very thin and crispy base and very tasty. In reply to other comments..sugar is sugar no matter what colour and don't go moving tables without asking😀. The coffee is some of the best around.

We visited the cafe having cycled from Wrexham - we tried to move a table so 4 of us could sit round it and the whole table top came off and hit my ankle - it was a v heavy ceramic/ concrete top - luckily the damage apart from some bruising is minimal - however we did feel the risk of this happening and causing some real damage was high . The young lady in the cafe was concerned and provided ice - the gentleman was v uninterested ! Latte s were cold , toasted tea cakes dry ...v average food with a health and safety warning needed !

I went with my friend as part of a day out in Chester to cheer her up as she recently lost her husband. We chose pizza and salad. It arrived freshly made and it was fantastic! One of the best! Delicious, thin base, tasty and fresh salad as it should be. Perfect! We found the service also to be great. The staff that served us were very helpful, polite and attentive. We both can highly recommend this place and you won't be disappointed. Certainly we will return again and look forward to the next visit. My friend was suitably cheered too.

MY friend and I met for lunch today afterms reading an online lunchtime deal. We were told that they couldn'the do the offer until next week because of the Chef? I ordered a baked potatoe with tuna and my friend ordered anot egg mayonnaise sandwich. What I received was a sloppy mixture of the cheapest tuna inside half a medium size potatoe ànd along get side it half a salad size potatoe that was looking decidedly grey. My friend's sandwich was very sparse on egg mayonnaise. Both were accompanied by the minimum of chopped lettuce and the smallest pieces of tomatoe. For the £5.95 in cost me I wish I had stayed at home, at least the way I could have not been left Hungary. Shame on You!

We've been twice to Caramel. First time just for coffie - it's was allright and today second time for quick lunch. We had Special Burger and Canelloni with Ricotta and Spinach. Both we very tasty and served very fast. Considering their prices, Caramel is a perfect place to go if you want good honest food. Also we really like its localization.

I've been to Caramel numerous times with friends and as a student I would say it's the ideal little place to get something to eat due to the fair price in comparison to the food quality, with very friendly customer service and a verity of food and drinks I will happily go to caramel again for breakfast, lunch and dinner ☺️

A good little find for breakfast in Chester two minute walk from the Town Hall. Breakfast was cooked fresh and was more than adequate. Cost was almost half that of nearby cafes. Staff very friendly. Give it a go

Very friendly staff, nice menu. Pizza looks great but the toasties lack a certain love and are over priced. They allegedly came with nachos and salad which was about 4-5 nachos and barely a spoonful of lettuce (though the dressing was nice.) Bread reminded me of Tescos own brown loaf.

We stumbled across Caramel by pure accident last week when in chester an so pleased we walked down the little cobbled area to reach it. Lovely owners, very friendly and nice selective menu- we had a light lunch of jacket potatoes and nachos/salad also served. Sun was shining, sat outside under the parasol - what could be more enjoyable.

Very disappointed. An Italian restaurant that doesn't do bolognese. Too overpriced

Been to Wildwood on many occasions and never once had an issue. This time we went for the 2 mains, fries and a drink for £10 deal and it is excellent value for money. You get a large 12" pizza if you order the pizza and it is cooked to perfection

Attentive staff, well managed and knowledgeable. Lovely choice of food and decent portions. Majority available as GF option so no compromise required. Our starters and mains were lovely. The bouillabaisse was delicious and full of sea food - so will have that again. Atmosphere was fine and they haven't crammed in an extra 10 tables so for us it was ideal.
