Overall, I've given 5 stars as Ego has the potential to be just that! The place is beautifully decorated throughout in a mainly blue/gold/grey muted theme with some stylish wall lights and other decorative objects. The staff were friendly and helpful. Service was a tad slow given that the whole place was fairly quiet and so lacking in atmosphere. However, we were not in a rush so it was OK. The food was pretty good but the gamba prawn starter is far too hot/spicy. Calamari was tasty but the plate looked bare so a little bit of salad would be nice! Mains were very good, excellent hanging chicken kebabs, tasty and rich paella and some nice fillets of fish. We really enjoyed it and thought the Wednesday deal with the £10 wine was good value. One point, this place is very dog friendly with a table of treats and water, bowls etc and rogues gallery photos of doggy visitors. But outside there was no poo bin anywhere! needs sorting. Now have vouchers for future offers/treats so will be returning again very soon. I would definitely recommend Ego, its much better than many other pubs in the area. Thank you Ego Stanney Oaks!

We liked the food and the service was good until the bill came. A 10% service charge had already been added (fine), however we were then prompted to add another tip on the machine when paying. When we didn’t, the previously friendly waitress seemed to take umbrage. Unlikely to return due to this odd attitude. EDIT: I’m a little confused following the response from the restaurant. We were only a table of 4 - it sounds like the discretionary service charge shouldn’t have been added at all then, if it’s only for tables of 8 and above? To be as clear as possible, the issue isn’t the service charge. It’s that we were asked to leave ANOTHER tip on top of that when paying. If we hadn’t been taking notice we’d have ended up leaving tipping twice, which is why I wanted to flag this issue and notify other people of such sneaky tactics.

We visited Ego after a full day out at the Zoo with two very tired and very hungry children. The food was great (better than I was expecting) and the service received by Lorraine was excellent. She was very attentive and great with the kids.

The staff were good but the wait for burnt food and the coffee machine being broken was not good.

Our server was sally, we had our grandson with us sally made a big fuss of him and was amazing with him. Can’t fault anything amazing

A early evening catchup with friends, we all ate from the Wednesday offer 2 meals for £30 + optional bottle of wine for £10. This deal is excellent value as you can choose either a starter or dessert plus a main from a good range of choices. The food was all lovely, with Lorraine our server being both attentive and friendly and the overall atmosphere good. There were plenty of people dining who I suspect were taking advantage of the the great offer. I wouldn't hesitate to visit again.

Amazing night celebrating my Fiancés birthday with friends. My steak was a little fatty but apart from that it was fantastic. We love Ego and Sally serving us was a joy !!

Booked early but, still told certain meals not available variety didn’t appear as good on the day as seen on line Although part of our party didn’t arrive they were very obliging the place was clean and friendly Satnav route terrible taken down the side street to park mentioned when inside said, it had always had that problem? The sign for parking was also misleading as it didn’t mention Ego

Recently visited the restaurant for a quick tea after shopping. The staff greeted us with a friendly face. We were offered the fixed price meals as well as the A La carte. We found the food exceptional value and extremely well presented. The waitresses were friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Sunday lunch was very disappointing. I ordered PAN-ROASTED CHICKEN SUPRÊME Served with pork, sage & onion stuffing, & cranberry sauce It arrived without pork, stuffing or cranberry sauce. The food was barely warm and tasted like it been heated up more than once. The chicken was pink inside and certainly didn’t look pan fried. My husband had fish and he portion was so much smaller than mine and also barely warm. When I raised this with one of the staff they said they would knock £1 off the bill! I told them we had not enjoyed it and she just shrugged her shoulders. The other staff were more friendly though. Overall it was not an enjoyable meal at all.

Egos is a fantastic place to go for a meal. The staff are absolutely brilliant. Very attentive and quick too. 2 for 1 cocktails is a bargain. Everything is better in pairs. The food was perfect. Hanging chicken and chorizo kebab with a side of fries. Kebab was fresh and the glaze makes the dish next level. Fries were super hot and could tell they had been prepared fresh. Good value for money. A perfect Saturday night out for a meal. Well done Ego’s.

Sadly under staffed, food at best very average, took fifteen minutes at the bar to get served. Poor barman on his own!

Booked online for dinner, welcomed straight away when we came in and shown to are table by a lovely member of staff. The place was spotless and a very nice area. The food was fantastic couldn’t fault it, the staff were great kept asking if everything was ok just made you feel so at home. Had a live singer singing in the background what a bonus. Will be going back very soon.

First time here and superb! I didnt want to go initially as it was a Harvester. Changed hands and could not speak highly enough of it. Just try it and you will return time again!

Lovely lunch at egos. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. The goats' cheese brushetta starter was delicious. Really reasonable priced Sunday lunch menu, especially for the size of the portions and choice available. All Sunday lunches served with all the trimmings, including a humongous Yorkshire Pudding.

My son's starter was told it was sold out after everyone else's was served, also my wife's main dry fish served with burnt vegetables. The service was slow.

Excellent, I said we would return, and so we did. Looking forward to the next time.

We visited here based on a recommendation by a friend who owns restaurants himself. Lorraine and the other waitress (unfortunately we didn't catch her name) who served us were absolutely lovely. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was brilliant!!! The food was top class and a very reasonable price. We will definitely visit again soon!!!

We had a really nice meal here on their Tuesday Night Steak night offer.

A group of 14 of us went, overall i dont think many of us enjoyed our meals. About 5 of us had halloumi as starters, these all come out overcooked and dry. My steak i asked medium well, however it was more very well done and didn't really have much taste except burnt. The staff all seemed really nice and friendly though. Probably wouldn't go here again.

The restaurant itself was lovely and the starters were very nice but after a one and half hour wait for mains with very little comment from staff we left with them in a takeaway box. It may be we just went on the wrong night as can see plenty of good reviews but they were catering to a large party so the rest of the restaurant basically went without. Maybe a bit more than they could cope with. They did knock 50% off but unfortunately we are unlikely to return and would recommend ensuring they don't have a party in when booking. Alternatively they should advise on wait times if they know they will struggle with timely service like other places we have been then people can decide whether they want to stay rather than leaving people feeling frustrated.

I visited with my son for lunch; it has been refurbished since my last visit and is much improved, no pine in site. We had excellent service, the staff were very attentive. I had battered haddock, chips and mushy peas from the lunch menu (£8.95) and salted caramel tart with vanilla ice cream (5.95). The food was delicious and well presented. In total, two courses with 2 drinks was less than £40 (inc service charge), for two people. Well done.

Went for my wife's birthday. Place was reasonably full for a Monday night. There was only 2 staff on Steve and Lucy, boy did work and kept everyone happy. Lovely meal and credit to Steve and Lucy who kept on smiling. Very well done 😀

Had an amazing time on a Wednesday night with a lovely calm atmosphere, the best chorizo and halloumi skewers money can buy and excellent and welcoming service from Cal. I will most definitely be returning and would highly recommend.

Ate here with friends this weekend and had a great experience. We ate here a few months ago and really enjoyed it, so we returned when we were back in the area. The food was delicious (I highly recommend the pork duo), and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great for kids, who really enjoyed the make your own pizza. The staff also had a chart for allergens, showing exactly which items on the menu were safe to eat, which was really useful. Overall a great experience, I only wish I lived closer so I could return more regularly.

We have had several meals here and each time we have been really pleased with the food and the service. Lorraine was very friendly, efficient and attentive when we came here on 29th May for our anniversary meal. Worth checking out the various offers on throughout the week for even better value for money. Great menu choice

Turned up at 6pm on a bank holiday Monday with lots of empty tables on display only to be told we would have to wait 2 hours and they had started to run out of food. Went to Rake Hall across the road to be welcomed with open arms and great food. Not good enough in this day and age "Ego".

Booked for party of 12. Placed order 4 days before as requested. We arrived and table wasn’t decorated as we requested and even brought the stuff 3 hours before hand. Children’s chicken dippers was burnt. Got some orders wrong. When came to dessert they were out of 4 of them. What the point of giving order 4 days before hand so knew had to have the pudding requested. Another point there was a dog who was on nxt table and it fouled on carpet. Smell was so bad it put us off our meal. I know that dogs are allowed but think should be a part just for dogs only or outdoor seating.

Absolutely fantastic experience on a Sunday afternoon for my unofficial baby shower lunch. Food was amazing, waitress was very accommodating to my dietary requirements and the service was brilliant. Very attentive, polite and quick. Very reasonably priced and good sized portions. Would recommend and will definitely be going back!

Been a few times with work get togethers which was good but we visited again today with 2 guests and was disappointed !, unfortunately it is hit and miss with food and service, Very clean, lovely decor and atmosphere and friendly staff. However very slow service (wasn't busy), had to keep asking for drinks we had ordered and ended up going to the bar ourselves. Starters were good but trio roast not so much, roast potatoes were hard and not actually roasted, green beans had caught and tasted burnt, meat was more broiled than roast and the cauliflower cheese I asked to be replaced as it had been sat on the hot plate for 25 mins before it was brought over, a discount was offered after complaining but won't go back for a while

Having arranged to meet friends at the “Dog Friendly” pub next door, only to find out, despite its website, that it wasn’t, we ended up here. The contrast was amazing, the staff were really friendly, the food was great (and reasonable) and the atmosphere was extremely pleasant. AND….it was dog friendly. Will definitely be coming back!

Really lovely evening and great combo special, however I found my steak very chewy. Everyone else enjoyed their choices, I just made a bad choice. The service seemed very rushed as if they wanted to turn the table again for dinner. It's a really lovely venue and the menu choices are great with a good wine selection at good prices.

Sunday roast was really nice and well cooked . A day out in Liverpool and booked in here for dinner.

We went here on 28 March 2024 for a celebration dinner. Disappointed that wine was served in brandy glasses because they'd run out of clean wine glasses. Early on a Thursday evening run out of Moroccan Lamb Kebabs, on what is supposed to be Kebab night. My wife was served up fish instead of the chicken that was ordered, by the time the order was corrected I'd almost finished my course. Then instead of the chicken being served with rice it came with mashed potato. The garlic mushroom no starter though was absolutely delicious.

Waited over an hour for food. Child's meal was cremated. Staff didn't seem to care about the delay of the food. Wasn't anything special

Went for early dinner with my partner today, we saw the hanging kebab Thursday deal advertised and ask what the deal was, the stressed out waiter brought us a further menu. We ordered the pil pil prawns to start, the mixed kebab and lamb kebab as mains. Got to say that the kebab meat was overcooked and tasteless, served cold and we had to wait 5mins for the kebab to arrive after being given our salad and bread, the honey halloumi and sweet potatoes were to follow and actually were the best of the whole meal. Been asked by the waiter I express my feeling and she said that pass the feedback to the chef, after a few minutes she said the kebab was preprepared and the chef had to cook the chicken for longer🤔 Having eaten in Ego Stockton Heath we were very disappointed and will definitely not go back to this one.

I took my granddaughter for Sunday lunch there we had booked it was busy they put us in the dog area when explained my granddaughter has an allergy to dogs was more or less told like it or lump it I have eaten. there on many occasions the Sunday lunches were 21.99 now they are adding +4 for lamb or beef only leaving the chicken at 21.99 come on ego you will be outpricing yourselves keep it real
